My husband and I just completed a most enjoable 3-night stay at the very charming Armistead Cottage in Newport, RI. Innkeepers Romana and Charles were most welcoming, the breakfasts in their beautifully furnished dining room were scrumptious, and our room and bath were immaculately clean and comfortable. The cottage is located in a very quiet neighborhood and a very short drive from the wharfs, mansions, and restaurants. Romana was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and sights to visit and one could tell that she really cares about her guests. We hope our travels find us again in Newport and that the Armistead is open for business!

When you go on vacation, some people say it doesn't really matter where you spend the night, as long as you have fun during the day.. Well, I think it matters how you start the day. A good night sleep and a wonderful breakfast are part of your vacation. It was nice to be away from the typical city noise, my husband and I are used to. Instead, we woke up to a calm, peaceful atmosphere.. the ambiance was amazing. The location of the Armistead Cottage is perfect: a quiet residential neighborhood, yet only 15 min walking distance from the main shopping district and 7-8 min from the beach. We stayed in the Victorian Room. Beautifully furnished, spacious, with a private bath, a big plasma TV and a great movie selection.. The place was spotless. I am very particular when it comes to cleaning, and I should say I felt really comfortable to stay here. My favorite part of all was breakfast. The lovely inn keeper Romana, had prepared a three course meal for us.We love to experience food and the sausage morning casserole, carrot muffins and baked peaches were simply delicious. Romana was very friendly and had a great personality. I felt very comfortable in her company for she has a nice demeanor about herself. We inquired about what to do during our stay and she was very helpful with her suggestions about where to go and what to do to maximize our experience. I am highly pleased with my time spent here and see myself coming back if I ever find myself in Newport again.

The B&b was truly a wonder to see. Charles and Romana fill their home with neat antiques, and yet have a wimsical side as well. Our room was very nice. Everything we were looking for to be in a room, as well as a few things we were happy to have that we didn't expect. Breakfast was lovely, and home made! Romana was a wealth of what to do and see in Newport. The B&b was also located really very close to downtown and many things so we could walk to most things, which we did. We can't wait to go back to Newport! We weren't able to see everything. We highly recommend this B&b! A great place and great people!!

You cannot stay anywhere better in Newport for Bed & Breakfast than Romana's Armistead Cottage. Welcoming and truly helpful and caring hosts, good food, great location. Rooms are perfectly clean and tidy with a homely atmosphere. Romana knows Newport inside out and only recommedns places she knows and loves from personal experience. Of course there is the added bonus of the personally guided tour of the Carrot Museum, a truly unique experience, ANYWHERE in the world.
