  • Philadelphia's Cornerstone Bed and Breakfast is an elegant and cozy urban inn located within walking distance to the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, delicious restaurants and shops. Our meticulously restored 1865 Victorian, stone mansion on a towering tree-lined street in the University City District accommodates both business and leisure. Situated in a prime location, Cornerstone offers a unique opportunity to enjoy Philadelphia with Center City only minutes away and easily accessible by public transportation.
    The Philadelphian is a spacious first floor room decorated in soothing green and features three stunning stained glass bay windows overlooking the garden. The king sized bed is very comfortable and cozy and the room comes equipped with a TV, large en suite bathroom with walk-in shower, and workstation.
    The Continental Suite is two bedroom suite with a sitting room located on the third floor. 

The larger bedroom, with a soothing floral theme, has a queen bed and the smaller adjoining bedroom has a double bed. Both bedrooms share a sitting room with a television and guest refrigerator. The large bathroom with skylight has a large jetted tub, separate, walk-in shower and double sinks. This is a spacious suite perfect for friends traveling together or a family traveling with children.

    The Continental Suite Bathroom
    Decorated in Wedgewood Blue the newly renovated University Suite is a charming and cozy room. Located on the second floor, this spacious room is divided into two. The main bedroom features a queen sized bed and the large bay window provide a lovely office space. The living room is equipped with a queen size sleep sofa, beautiful oriental carpet, decorative fireplace, and large TV. The sizable en suite bathroom off of the living room includes a shower and tub combination. This light and bright suite is perfect for business people or small families.
    The Fairmount Room is a perfect mix of modern comfort and traditional décor. Beautifully maintained and coupled with a king bed that can be split into two four-poster twin beds-an excellent choice for friends traveling together or a parent traveling with an older child. The room comes equipped with a large TV, en suite bathroom, walk-in shower, and workstation.

    In the morning, guests enjoy breakfast at our large dining room table in front of the fireplace. Enjoy a conversation with other guests or read the newspaper. And, don't forget to look up at our magnificent reproduction Victorian ceiling. During the week, a continental breakfast is served from 7:15 AM to 8:30 AM. On weekends, a full breakfast is served from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
    The Furness Room, located on the second floor and off the street, is elegantly decorated in terra cotta. The antique brass queen bed and oriental carpet make this room warm and cozy. And, let's not forget TV and the en suite private bathroom with a walk-in shower.
    Relaxe and enjoy a glass of wine on our beautiful wrap around porch.
    The Franklin Room is decorated in blues and browns, this bright, corner room has a queen bed and a spectacular detached private bathroom with original turn-of-the-century tile, stained glass windows and a tub and shower combination. Old Ben would be proud of this beautiful second floor guest room.

    Great place to stay for parents of students at Drexel or U Penn. Very friendly owners and great food. Wonderful porch for the evenings and safe neighborhood. Definitely recommend.

    Service above and beyond

    I was in town for a conference - the hosts couldn't have made my stay more pleasant and comfortable - breakfast a little earlier, lots of good starbucks decaf (the first of many B&B's where I've stayed that took care of this detail), and even a ride to the train station when I departed. Beautifully maintained house and gardens, relaxing and quiet, even near a college campus on weekend end nights. While I was there for work, the time at the cornerstone felt like a vacation.

    Nice Stay

    We stayed for one night on our East-Coast Tour. Sad we couldn't stay longer. The old Victorian mansion is very beautiful - inside and from the outside. Stayed in the Franklin Room, clean and nice furnitured. The Shared Bathroom for this room is just next door and was clean. The Innkeeper's are very nice and the homemade breakfast was delicious (especially the quiche). As it is located in the university area, a lot of restaurants and bars are close by to enjoy the night in town. Anytime again!!!

    A Charming Home Away from Home

    My daughter and I spent a week at Cornerstone while she was attending a summer program at Drexel. The location was so convenient to the college. Dennis, Liz, Chris and Jules treated us like family. Breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed meeting the other guests. The innkeepers are wonderful, caring people and we hope to get back again soon.

    Fairmount Room Il nostro più grande camera, situato al secondo piano è decorato con un plaid di Ralph Lauren, un tappeto orientale ed ha un tema di golf. Il re letto è coperto con un featherbed ed è molto confortevole e accogliente. Questa camera dispone di TV e bagno privato con cabina doccia.

    Franklin Room

    Franklin Room Decorato in blues e marroni, questa sala luminosa, angolo che si trova al secondo piano ha un letto matrimoniale e uno spettacolare staccato il bagno privato con piastrelle di turno-del-secolo originale, vetrate e una combinazione di vasca e doccia. Vecchio ben sarebbe orgoglioso di questo bello secondo piano camera per gli ospiti.

    Furness Room

    Frank Furness Room Camera Furness, situato al secondo piano e fuori strada, è elegantemente decorata in cotto. I tappeti orientali ed Eastlake stile antico letto rendono questa stanza calda e accogliente. E non dimentichiamo il dotate di bagno privato con cabina doccia.

    Università suite

    Decorato in Wedgewood Blue la suite di università recentemente rinnovato è una sala accogliente e affascinante. Questo spazioso situato al secondo piano, è diviso in due. Le caratteristiche principali di camera da letto un letto queen sized e la grande finestra baia fornire uno spazio ufficio bella. Il soggiorno è dotato di una regina dimensione sonno divano, bei tappeti orientali, camino decorativo e grande TV. Il considerevole bagno fuori del soggiorno include una combinazione di doccia e vasca. Questa suite leggera e luminosa è ideale per uomini d'affari o piccole famiglie.

Due camere da letto di condividere un salotto con un frigorifero, televisione e ospite. Il grande bagno con lucernario ha una grande vasca idromassaggio, doccia separata, walk-in e doppi lavandini. Questa è una spaziosa suite perfetta per una famiglia che viaggiano con bambini o di amici che viaggiano insieme.

    Nice Stay

    First time to Philadelphia for us we loved it! Liz, Dennis, Chris, & Jules welcomed us & made us feel right at home. The location is great a short walk to the subway & just a few stops & you are right in the heart of downtown-it is such a beautiful friendly city! We ate dinner at a wonderful italian restaurant on 10th Street, & had the best cheesesteak at Tony Luke's. The breakfast we had at The Cornerstone was great, bacon, blueberry pancakes, coffee, juice, & Sunday we had freshly baked scones, muffins, sausage, juice, iced or hot coffee it was fantastic! The porch is the best and the next time we are in Philadelphia we will look no further than The Cornerstone!

    refuge from the storm

    The last blizzard of 2007 swept Philadelphia on the Friday I arrived by train from NYC for my yoga teacher training workshop. I waited an hour and a half for a taxi - the same length of time it took to travel from NY. But when I pulled up to the Cornerstone I was emensly cheered by the cozy atmosphere and my comfortable room - and by a crackling fire in the hearth.

    Early in 2007 I traveled to several college auditions with Eastman School of Music in Philadelphia as one of my schools of choice. My mom found Cornerstone B & B and was able to make reservations for me. I had not stayed in a Bed & Breakfast before and didn't know what to expect. It was like being at home. The room I stayed in was very nice and the food was really good. I enjoyed talking to the other guests and Ms. Nadine went out of her way to help me make transportation arrangements. I also enjoyed the area surrounding the Conerstone.

    Ideal base for visiting UPenn or Drexel

    I stayed for four nights in late winter. The room was extremely comfortable, with lots of space. Wifi broadband was upgraded during my stay, and was a real bonus. The owners were friendly, and made me feel at home, while still leaving me with plenty of privacy. This was the perfect base for visiting the universities which are literally a short walk away. A little further away, but still easily walkable (15 mins) is the Amtrak station. I would certainly choose Cornerstone on another visit. Helpful details like restaurant tips, and a copy of Zagat's you can borrow, round off the service. (ps breakfasts were fantastic, including one morning hot cider deliciously flavoured with cinnamon.)
