This B&B was very nice settled in the little town south west of Gettysburg. It was easy to find and fits into the nostalgic history of Gettysburg. The inn keeper was very accommodating and wanted to make sure our stay was comfortable. The evening meal was delicious. Breakfast was good and presented nicely. Maybe it was me, but I thought maybe it was prepared using microwaveable products everything tasted fine, if this was the case I was expecting a little more after a fine meal served the evening before, I am easy to please so this didn't upset me. All in all I would recommend staying at the Fairfield Inn.

This is my 3rd time actually staying at the inn. Actually drove up from Alexandria, VA to bring my mom there for Mother's Day brunch. All I can say is, the service is better each and every time I come, the inn is so beautiful and beautifully maintained with it's historic nature. I always stay in the 1757 suite which truly gives me the feeling of being there back in the day. John is a gracious host, the food is to die for and everyone is so friendly. I honestly feel like this is my home away from home. If you are looking for the best tasting food, cleanest and most beautiful accommodations, if you love dinner theater and are looking for people who actually treat you like family then I would recommend the Historic Fairfield Inn 150%!!!! I am already planning another visit this coming December. Hope this review helps!

The hotel is nice and our room was comfortable and nicely decorated, but no way was it worth what we paid. The 'dinner theater' was a magic act. Nice, but nothing special. The dinner was okay, again nothing special. I'm glad I did it once, but wouldn't do it again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were looking for a unique, historic inn, and Fairfield exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect prelude to our first visit to Gettysburg the next day. The inn is restored and maintained beautifully. We were impressed with the genuine hospitality shown to us, and our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Since we were there on a Friday night, the restaurant was open and we enjoyed a delicious dinner...we were very pleased that we did not have to leave the inn, having been on the road all day. Our breakfast was a treat...hot Belgian waffle, eggs and bacon. We are happy to recommend the Historic Fairfield Inn.

We stayed in the 1757 Suite for one nite. The Inn was accommodating of our late arrival. Wish we could of stayed more nites but it was already booked up. Wanted to spend at least one nite in a civil war era place and was not disappointed. The suite was big and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was enjoyable. This was our first time at a B&B. Plan to go again and take the whole family.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at this "Historic Gem" this past weekend. We stayed in the Three Colonels Suite, which was stunning. The food that was prepared for us for dinner and especially breakfast was amazing. But, of all the elements that made this a fantastic stay, the hospitality was unmatched. Katherine, Mary Lou, and Jenni were so very gracious and fun to speak with. Terry treated us with the utmost respect and consideration. It was a very busy weekend for the Inn and Winery and although, Terry worked a very long weekend, he cared for us every step of the way during our stay. The food he prepared for us was exceptional, he tended our room for us, he took time out of his busy days to speak with us and be informative...he truly made our trip memorable. The winery is amazing and the staff extremely welcoming. We will definitely be coming back to visit! Catherine Ryan ad Travis McCabe

I loved staying here. I did the MS Ride that weekend and enjoyed relaxing in my bedroom (JEB)
The Grumble Jones Original Mansion House guest room is named for the Confederate General who fought in the Battle of Fairfield, which was a cavalry engagement fought directly to the back of the Inn’s property on July 3, 1863. While a minor fight compared to the Battle of Gettysburg, the mission was an important one. William E. “Grumble” Jones’ celebrated “Laurel Brigade” was charged by General Robert E. Lee with the task of securing the vital Hagerstown Road. Jones and his brigade succeeded and after this bloody battle, the Inn was used as a Civil War Hospital for many of Grumble Jones’ soldiers. The remaining unscathed troops camped near Fairfield, keeping the road open for Lee’s retreat and then guarded the rear as the Army of Northern Virginia moved through the Fairfield Gap on July 4 & 5, 1863.
The spacious J.E.B. Stuart original Mansion House guestroom is named for Gen. J.E.B. Stuart who stayed in this room in 1862 during a confederate raid of the valley. General Stuart revisited the Inn on July 4, 1863 as he & General Robert E. Lee lead their troops on the Confederate Retreat. Defeated & weary, the two Generals along with several of their officers stopped at The Fairfield Inn for a hot meal. Accommodations include a queen sized bed, large seating area with foldout full-sized sofa and a beautifully decorated large private bath with a whirlpool tub.
The Patrick Henry Guest Room is named for the American Patriot & Statesman (1736-99) famous for the quote “Give me Liberty or Give me Death.” He was the nephew of the Lady of the House, Isabella Henry Miller. This original Mansion House room was used by him during many of his visits to the Inn as a meeting room with the town’s elders. This second floor room is furnished with antiques, a queen-sized wood and iron bed, and a large, gorgeous private bath with a claw-foot tub and separate shower.
The Major Starr Guest Room is located on the third floor and is named for the legendary old dragoon, Samuel H. Starr, who served in the Civil War. This Irish-American officer in the Reserve Brigade was a gloomy-faced veteran whose harsh discipline was exacted on both officers and enlisted men alike. Experienced and respected by his superior officers, Major Starr was ordered to move west out of Gettysburg to Fairfield to seize a Confederate wagon train rumored to be foraging there. No wagon train was found but during the search, Starr and his regiment encountered confederate troops and fought what is now known as the Battle of Fairfield which resulted in Starr losing his arm in battle. The Major Starr cozy, third floor guestroom has a full-sized Lincoln suite antique bed & marble top dresser, beautiful magnolia wallpaper and a cottage-like feel throughout the bedroom and private bath with a whirlpool tub.
The Suite is the original house of Squire William & Maggie Miller, founders of Fairfield. They moved to the area from Delaware to what was considered, at the time, as the frontier and raised their children on 247 acres of farming land. In 1786, their daughter, Jane Maria, and husband, Col. Paxton applied for the very first Tavern license in the Gettysburg and surrounding area. The Inn has been serving travelers ever since making it one of only five in America that has been in continuous operation since the 1700s! The Suite has a parlour with the original 1757 fireplace chimney, a full private bath with whirlpool tub, and a very large master bedroom with queen-sized bed. The room boasts a built in wall of window seats, perfect for cuddling up with a good book and a glass of wine or hot chocolate.
The Suite is named for three confederate colonels who were injured July 1, 1863 during the battle of Gettysburg, stabilized on the battlefield, and moved west on the Fairfield Road en route to Virginia. Of the three men that shared the same ambulance that day only two are known, Col. Daniel Harvey Christie of the 23rd NC and John Kerr Connelly of the 55th NC who had his left arm amputated in Fairfield. On the eve of the first of July, all three men rested in comfort at The Fairfield Inn. The Three Colonels Suite offers a charming parlor with trundle bed, sitting area, mini-refrigerator and microwave, a sunny separate bedroom with a queen bed, and a lovely, private bath with a claw-foot tub & separate shower. To make your stay even more special, this beautiful third-floor suite also has access to a private balcony overlooking the Main Street lined with the town’s quaint historic homes.
