We stayed for 2 nights with a groupon deal in the Atrium Suite cabin and everything was absolutely wonderful! The jacuzzi tub was so relaxing and the mornings were serene sitting on our back porch watching the river and the local wildlife. I would highly recommend McKenzie River Inn to everyone and we certainly plan to return!
We had a lovely weekend getaway at the Inn. I loved being in the woods & the fact that they let us bring our dog made us a very happy family...It was very homey & we got great customer service. I loved it & hope to come back in the future.
Mu 2 sisters and I stayed in the Osprey Cabin which was pretty typical for an older cabin, but the lawn and the river out behind was spectacular. Breakfast, for another $8 each was certainly worth more than the money and the hostess and her children were charming.
I would warn you about the sofa-bed in cabin which is in deplorable shape. If we had been staying there for more than one night it would not have worked for me. The innkeepers say children usually sleep there. I was just glad I was not trying to share it with my husband!
Ellie welcomed us and was very accommodating. Our view of the river was great. At 8 AM the power went out and there was no water or electricity. As a result we could not use the shower, toilet, blow dryer or curling iron. Without power, Ellie was unable to prepare breakfast. So, we decided to leave a day early. When we gathered up our belongings in the dark, I left a pair of sandals behind. I contacted Ellie later and she said she would send them to me. After two weeks I had not received them and I checked with her again. She said she had been very busy and would send them in the next week.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] Dear guest, so sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction of your stay with us.
As you might understand the power outage, from 8AM to 9.30AM, was beyond our control, but understand it might have caused some difficulties.
We did find the sandals you left behind the door. As I informed you that we have been solidly booked I do apologize not to have been able to send the sandals back to you sooner.
Although our cancellation policy clearly states that you were within the 20 days of no refund, I do hope you appreciate it that I was able to convince the owners not to charge you for the second night for your inconvenience. However I do regret to find your concerns posted publicly and would have preferred you would have addressed it to me personally. With regards,
If you want a place to fish and a hearty breakfast to start the day this is the place to go.
Guide Service is in house.
Has an Old World charm about it with friendly Inn Keepers.
Have stayed there multiple times and have enjoyed myself.
Quiet and relaxing atmosphere right on the River.
Can not say enough good things about it.

Our seminar and stay at the MRI was outstanding. Perfect service and accommodations. Great host, nothing over the top, clean and fantastic food, let's book for the fall.
My family just spent another fantastic week at McKenzie River Inn. Bert, Hubertina and Ellie accommodate our large family and make every aspect of our stay enjoyable. We have three generations of family looking forward to this vacation every other year - even the dogs love it! From the delicious breakfasts (and several food allergies to consider), our bocci ball tournaments and badminton games, loud card games at night, quiet time for reading and relaxing by the beautiful McKenzie River and of course a white water rafting trip with Bert, there is something for all of us to enjoy. It is a pleasure to migrate back to the McKenzie River Inn year after year!
The Osprey Cottage was quaint, if a bit worn and funky (for the price). The view from the deck and riverside was lovely and relaxing. The proprieters were friendly, and breakfast was healthy and tasty. We were a bit surprised by some of the items not available - if we planned to stay there in the future, we would know to bring our own corkscrew, and briquets and lighter fluid for the BBQ.
The Proprietor was very health conscious, dietary considerations and proportion sizes. She accommodated my class schedule, which was very much appreciated. It was a great setting for me.
I loved it so much on my previous visit that I came back to the McKenzie River Inn and stayed again for a couple of days. I'm a regular traveler throughout the Pacific Northwest, and it's simply wonderful to catch my breath at this B&B, on the river, enjoying the fishing, the splendid views, the excellent breakfast, the clean comfortable rooms, and the pleasant service. Being an author, it's also a very good place to get new inspiration.
My husband and I stayed here a few weeks ago and cannot wait to go back! The Inn is set in a beautiful location next to the McKenzie River and when I walked in I was awestruck at how charming it was. Bert the owner was so nice and helpful that we are already telling everyone we know that this is the place to go. He also offers fishing trips, float trips, and whitewater rafting and with all of his years of experience I'm sure those would be very memorable. In fact, our next stay there will be planned around those activities. One note, please make sure you arrive at the right place as there is a restaurant/motel down the road that we were told was the McKenzie River Inn. After checking into a bare motel room and fighting off wasps, we finally figured out we had the wrong place. A customer coming out of the restaurant/motel when we pulled up told us it was the McKenzie River Inn, when in fact it wasnt. The McKenzie River Inn sits back in some trees and is located in the little town of Nimrod. You will not go wrong if you book a stay at the McKenzie River Inn!

We visit the Mckenzie River Inn every year. Our most recent trip was over Labor Day when they had their annual cider pressing festival. We had a blast. It was fun for kids and adults as well. The place is cozy and familiar, and the staff is cheerful and helpful. It is like our home away from home!
My 18 year old daughter and I wanted to take a weekend trip before she headed off to college. We read about the McKenzie River Inn in Portland Monthly and picked it as our destination. What a good choice! Bert, Ellie and Hubertina were gracious hosts. The kids are adorable, and my daughter had fun getting them started making friendship bracelets. I had never been rafting before, and William was an amazing guide on the McKenzie. We had a wonderful river trip. Ellie suggested great local restaurants for dinner both nights we stayed, and breakfasts at the inn were delicious.
I visit the McKenzie area twice a year - once in the summer and once in the winter. I have passed through every tourist facility on the river for many years - and I keep coming back to the McKenzie River Inn. The cabins are literally right on the water. The ambiance is 'country inn' and the people are very friendly. The grounds are lovely, serene, and topped off with a trail right on the river. There's lots of privacy, and everything is very clean and cozy. I just spent Christmas here with family, and we went to Hoodoo for snowboarding and skiing. It was amazingly beautiful, and only one hour away. I will be back.
Thanks, Mary
Very home-like atmosphere on a beautiful river. The owners are very friendly & knowledgeable. I really appreciated them accommodating my wheat/gluten allergy.
We stayed in The Atrium for 3 days last August, and absolutely loved it. This is not your average cabin; they made it into something special. The two back doors open right on the lawn towards the river's edge, making a lovely view from inside. The colors are fresh and romantic, and that's exactly the feel you get when you wake up in the morning and look outside. My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay, and the hosts were very friendly. It's the oldest B&B in the area, and still has the charm from olden days, though being very up to date at the same time. We hope to be coming back here!
Far from the 126 highway on the banks of the McKenzie river is this 3 acre resort. A Bed and Breakfast with four riverside cabins, secluded and tucked away in forest of Douglas fir and Cedar trees with at least 400 feet of river frontage. My husband and I love to fly fish and we fished in about three feet of water in front of the cabin we stayed in. The next morning we had very tasteful breakfast in the lodge for we had planned a day of fishing from a drift boat. After a great day of fishing our guide William landed the boat in front of our cabin. The same evening we socialized with other guests around the fire pit directly on the rivers edge and enjoyed our days catch.
This is a great place to get away from your busy jobs and big city life just two hours and a half drive from Portland, Oregon.
