We had a great time, stayed only one night . Maggie and Jerry were the best hosts! The breakfast was awesome and never ending, loved our room and the views.
Pictures do not lie. This exquisite log sanctuary is stunning. Hosts are friendly and helpful regarding area interests. Construction details fascinating, décor beautiful, tasteful and authentic. Food was beautifully presented, tasty and plentiful. We hope to return one day!
The Sandy Salmon Bed & Breakfast Lodge was very beautiful both inside and out, especially while we were there during the Christmas season. The owners were super friendly. Our room was large, clean, and new. The breakfast was scrumptious! I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast!
The hosts and the lodge are a Northwest gem. The moment you arrive Jerry and Maggie Emmert open their home to you and you instantly feel like family. Maggie's attention to detail in the home decor is amazing. Her extensive experience as a florist shows in every floral arrangement; quite beautiful. Jerry is an accomplished hunter and his trophies abound. Pelts to full mounts; every animal has been given a place in this home graced by nature. The koi pond in the foyer, the massive stone and wood fire place in the living room with the view of the Sandy and Salmon Rivers colliding bring the outdoors inside with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are immaculate. You would think that the house was just built. If cleanliness is next to Godliness; then your visit to The Sandy Salmon Bed and Breakfast Lodge will be Heaven. Breakfast is a real treat. You have breakfast with Jerry and Maggie themselves. Maggie works her magic in the kitchen and makes it all look effortless. Jerry is an interesting gentleman, as I found out because I asked after breakfast one morning. He actually has all his trophy hunts documented! He has a fascinating Musk Ox hunt story; pictures too. We stayed two nights and I had to drag my wife out of the Emmert's wonderful log home on the day we left. If not for Monday approaching, we might have stayed another night. Thank you Jerry and Maggie for a glorious stay.
Sandy Salmon would be the most wonderfully crafted home I have ever seen - with fantastic use of timber and glass, that takes advantage of the wonderful views of the Sandy and Salmon rivers and the mountains, and finished to an extremely high standard.
Our hosts really went out of their way to make us comfortable and make us feel part of their family.
On arrival, they served us the most delicious freshly made Danishes I had ever eaten. And the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Maggie is an incredible cook. Jerry is extremely helpful with local knowledge and suggestions.
Our stay wasn't long enough, and we would love to return. Not only for the fabulous hospitality, but also for all the places we didn't have time to see.
We stayed two nights in early Oct. Jerry and Maggie are great and this lodge is amazing. The amenities of the rooms are fantastic and the common areas are really comfy. Our single room felt small because of the large-scale furniture and the cost per night, but was still amazing. Our view of the rivers was spectacular to wake up to. I can't complain other than the price was higher than I would have liked, but comparable for places in the area, with a more amazing home. I don't have any adjectives left, but I would definitely recommend staying here if you're a couple or a family that can afford to rent out the whole place.
What we thought would be a rustic cabin turned out to be a luxurious B&B!
What we thought would be a rustic cabin turned out to be a luxurious B&B. What a magnificent building with incredible views and the sound of rushing water from the Sandy and Salmon Rivers just below. Wish we would have been able to stay more than one night!
Jerry and Maggie are wonderful hosts, catering to your every need. They are gratious and friendly, and eager to make your stay a memorable one. The house and premises overlooking the 2 rivers are spectacular. We highly recommend this to anyone, and plan on returning ourselves!
There was several hiking trails. The view of the rivers was so beautiful. The room we stayed in was large, beautifully decorated. Wished they would have had coffe in the room as well as breakfast. Felt alittle uncomfortable not being able to lock my door as they don't have locks. The couple was really friendly & knowledgable. But felt we had to eat with other guests. Which was okay but my & husband & I wanted to be alone. Overall it was. Relaxing experience.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] Thank you for your review. We do have locks on all the doors, and personal keys are available.
From the fabulous view of the natural outdoor environment to the view of an encredible log cabin....walk in the front door and it only gets better. Mastery of structural design and interior decorating leaves one in awe continually.
This by far was the nicest place we have ever stayed and the most relaxing! Beautiful view of the river from our room the Eagles Nest. We will both be back for sure and will be telling all our Friends. Thank you so much Jerry and Maggie

The house is great. The food is great. The view is great. The owners are great. This is a perfect getaway for people in Portland. Not too far from the city and pretty close to all the fun activities at Mt. Hood.
The house is really well decorated and it has a really soothing effect. We felt really relaxed during our stay.
The food is top notch. We got a three course breakfast that was freshly made by the owner. They sit down and eat with you! It feels like a family breakfast. It was really yummy.
I would kill for this view. The house is right on the edge of a cliff that stares down exactly at the scenic point where the rivers Sandy and Salmon merge. The gushing sound of the rivers has a calming effect on the nerves. You need to experience this!
An extremely friendly old couple runs this place. They are always on top of things and they really know how to take care of their guests. You will have a great weekend with them for sure.
We enjoyed our winter-time stay, including the time spent talking with the hosts about the wonderful home they built and share with their guests. The lodge is convenient to Mt Hood for winter activities, and close to enough to the Portland metro area for a quick weekend get-away.
We would love to go back some day, and it will be at the top of the list if we want to stay on the foothills of the mountain.

We only had time for a one night stay at the Sandy Salmon Bed & Breakfast, but it was a highlight of our trip to Oregon. Thanks for your hospitality and sharing your spectacular home with us.
This is a really nice place. The only drawback was there were some fires near Mt. Hood at the time and it was smokey thereby making any outdoor hiking or lounging near the river a little "eye stinging" and not recommended for asthmatics or people with allergies. Still - the hosts were very friendly and the lodge is very beautiful and unique. This is not a small and intimate place but more of a grand lodge. My only complaint was that all the other rooms were booked and you could definitely hear people (loud talkers) talking in the kitchen and common areas from our room. If you want silence make sure no one else is staying there or find another bed & breakfast.
There was nothing lacking at Sandy Salmon.... and we are not sure how Jerry and Maggie could be more accomodating to their guests. From the welcoming "Hello" to the fantastic breakfasts and hot cookies in the eveing..... just perfection. Never seen a more clean home.... our room was tastefully decorated and the bed was divine. And having no chilldren on the premises made for a wonderfully adult get-away.... loved loved loved it

Friendly and homely service, fantastic spacious, luxury log cabin in an inspirational setting”
Do yourself a favour and spend a few days here to relax.
This grand luxury building is so much more than a log cabin, yet it somehow has the rustic feel of one. It exploits the most incredible setting with magnifcent views of the river junction below and nearby mountains and woods. The building itself is pure indulgence and has great rooms and very spacious facilities to be seen to be believed.
Great hosts who seem to stop at nothing to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
A great place to particpate in outdoor actitivies nearby or relax in the facilities offered inside. A great home cinema is available as is a pool table.
Maggie cooks you a great breakfast and even made a delicious birthday gesture while I was there!
I was in the area on business and really appreciated not being in another conventional hotel during the weekend. An equally great haven to relax in luxury as it is to come back to after a day's activities in the magnificent outdoor's surroundings.
This superb construction was conceived and constructed by Jerry with every detail taken care of. It would be great for a couple to spend a romantic weekend or as I did visit b y yourself.
Jerry and Maggie - thank you so much for a magnificent weekend away in your paradise home. I will be back!
We had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before. The lodge was very beautiful and representative of Northwest culture. The views of the Sandy and Salmon Rivers were magnificant and the grounds were well cared for and a tranquil setting. The breakfast was sumptuous and delicious. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. Our luggage did not arrive with us and was delivered at 4 am the next morning. They graciously got up and accepted it for us. We were in the area for a family member's memorial service and they were very receptive to our needs. I would recommend this place to anyone, but we did discover that we are probably not B&B-types as we are more private people and did not like to have to report in and out as to our comings and goings. We felt like we had to do this because the doors were kept locked at all times and so we had to ring the bell and felt like we couldn't stay out late. Other than that a positive experience.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Sandy Salmon Bed and Breakfast. We go to a different place each year for our Anniversary and this has been our favorite so far ( #13 ) and we plan to return.

Amazingly beautiful lodge set within picturesque nature setting. Great owners and great service. Breakfast was spectacular. This is a must-stay on your next trip to Oregon. We will definitely be back soon!!
I am a widow, I was new to this area of the country, as my home is in Bella Vista, AR. I was on a rode trip by myself, looking for lodging for several weeks. I had come to the area to visit long lost cousins originally from IA. I stopped to ask if they had a cabin to rent for a few weeks, or if they knew where I might find lodging.
This couple invited me into their home, B&B, as one of their family, I had all my needs met and many pluses, as even part of a weekly Bible study group that meet in their home. My room and meals and extras were outstanding. I will never forget them and their tender loving care and hospitality. I long to return as soon as circumstances permit. I am currently visiting in the country of Greece. Submitted by Lola Anderson

Maggie and Jerry,
What a place! Thank You! Thank You! This is the best Bed and Breakfast I have ever seen. I would reccomend to anyone.
I am from Phoenix Az and for some reason I brought the heat because it was very warm, in the 90's. The Hostess went and purchased a fan. If that's not good hospitality I don't know what is. It was lovely company and great to meet your grandkids! Loved the crepes. I give this 5 starts . I could go on and on as I am right now. We will for sure be back! Thanks again :)
