This was an affordable bed and breakfast to stay in that was a close walk to the subway. The rooms were clean enough but certain things needed repair (for instance, something was taken off the wall and the holes were still there). One of the nights we were there, there were friends visiting the staff worker being quite loud, and I don't know if it was them or others who kept going up and down stairs also talking loud, but this went on past midnight, which wasn't the greatest. The breakfast was muffins, bagels and cheese set out on a table--that was nice to just grab something and go. We stayed there because we had heard the owners knew all about NY and could help us in where to go--they were never there though. It was a cheap place to stay, and it was fine for the price, so in that I would recommend it--also fun to stay in Harlem!
An affordable B&B in a nice neighborhood. Spacy, clean rooms with comfortable beds. The breakfast, that you have to take in your room, could be a bit better though.
I stayed three nights there travelling alone. Even the smallest room has its own water supply, microwave oven. The restroom is right besides my room and there is another one downstairs. The room will be cleaned everyday(to my surprise) by dedicated persons. The Harlem area is absolutely safe in night and the morning is so lovely. If you can stand a 5, up to most 10 mins walking to the subway station everyday, it is a perfact choice!
It may not look like what you are expecting from the outside but he rooms are great. I stayed in room 12 and it was very clean had a mini kitchen place with pans a knife set, plates and silverware. there was a small dining room and bar area. The Bathroom was also very clean with a bathtub shower. It's a close walk to the metro and 4 stops from times square. Would definitely stay here again.
More like a hostel than a B&B, the owner was very gracious about our (planned and notified in advance) late arrival. The room was terrific and the bathroom very clean. Had a bit of a hard time getting good hot water for very long but for the price i can live with that. Excellent restaurant at the end of the block and ample parking, too. Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment there but it looked good. Can't wait to go back.
Scott was an attentive and helpful host. We were in the city to drop off our daughter at Barnard College of Columbia and this location was within walking distance. We will plan to stay here again.
At first with the arrivel i have to wait 10 minutes wile the host was busy with his computer.
If i was not there.
But after that he was kind and very helpfull taking my bags to the second floor for me,and so on.
I injoid my stay there.
Great place to stay when you are are visiting NYC on a budget, rooms are super clean with some extra amenities that make you feel so welcome, staff keep the place awesome clean and the decoration is really nice considering how affordable it is, Scott ( the manager ) was super helpful and polite, he checked us in late in the afternoon and because of him we felt really comfortable with our whole stay, area is somewhat ok, most of NYC is really safe including this part of Harlem, although it could get a little sketchy late at night ( after 12 pm ), subways are less than 10 min walking distance, no problems at all during our stay and I will definitely go back even if Im not on budget. Visting from eastern CT, 4 people, double room.
Staying in a remote room with the private bath was great, but it felt a little awkward, like I was a house guest of someone I didn't know. They had a dog that didn't come downstairs, but definitely barked at me every time I left or came back. Also there was a lot of noise from the street because the window had to stay open for the air conditioning unit that went through the window. Outside of those things it was a really good unit. If you're prepared for a little extra noise (which got a little annoying early in the morning and late one night) then you'll be fine.
Very nice, clean and the croissants were very delicious...
This is a fantastic option for those not wanting to spend a few hundred dollars on a Holiday Inn room in Midtown yet not wanting to trade cost for value or cleanliness. Innkeeper Scott is a great guy as well.
We were lucky to get a room at the last minute, but we didn't realize how lucky were really were until we arrived. Our air-conditioned room was spacious and clean, the bathroom spotless. Scott was there to welcome us and provide us with some transportation and parking tips (there is free parking on the street; cars only need to be moved during the street cleaning hours). The B & B is just a few blocks from a main subway line (2 and 3), which takes you directly to Times Square, the World Trade Center site, South Ferry (to get to the Statue of Liberty or Staten Island), and more.
Continental breakfasts don't usually thrill me, but this one is great. Each day, Scott brings in fresh baguettes, muffins and several types of delicious croissants along with cheese, yogurt, juice and water bottles you can bring with you. They offer a wide selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate. Needless to say, we ate well!
The area is safe and we felt comfortable walking from the subway station at night.
I honestly never thought it would be possible to visit New York on a budget, but we did it, and we loved it!
