We were very impressed. The food was fresh and plentiful and gave us a good start to our day in the city. The room was clean and a nice size. We loved that we had a lot of privacy. We felt like it was our own house in the city. Feeling like we lived there and were at home was really nice. It was right by a subway entrance so it was very easy to get around! Only negative was a warm room temperature and no thermostat. But fixed with an open window!
The room was very comfortable and clean and very quiet. The continental breakfast food in the fridge was an excellent, unexpected compliment. The kitchen was a greàt option to have to make a meal as apposed to dinner at an expensive restaurant. It was incredibly convenient to be so close to the subway as well. We had a fantastic time in NYC and Allies Room had a big role in that!
Felt like a home away from home during the Holiday season
Allie's Inn has a subway stop right around the corner, so getting anywhere near midtown is simple and easy. Room was clean and welcoming, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We were able to find free parking right out front, even during the holiday season. Overall, I highly recommend staying here.
Finding a hotel in the city isn't easy. When i found allies inn i was just praying it didn't have bed bugs. I went in and the room was spacious the bathroom was clean. The refrigerator had organic milk and produce!! I will definitely be staying here everytime I visit. Thank you allies inn for your gracious hospitality.
We had scheduled a stay at Allie's Inn and we were due to arrive just after Hurricane Sandy hit NYC. We decided to donate our room to those without power or water, and Marilyn, the Innkeeper, was completely understanding, as was Bed and Breakfast.com. Together they agreed to refund our money so we could make a cash donation to the organizations who were helping those in need. They were so agreeable and wonderful about helping out. We will definitely use BedandBreakfast.com and Allie's Inn again!
My husband and I stayed at Allie's Inn during Hurricane Sandy as part of a trip we had been planning for over six months. When we arrived, the room was cleaner than clean and decorated perfectly. The fridge was stocked with healthy, organic, and top of the line breakfast items. We knew if we couldn't leave the room, we'd have plenty to eat!
With a nice flat screen tv and several board games, we had plenty to do while the wind howled and the rain fell. The manager brought us candles, a flashlight and a bucket just in case we lost power. We appreciated feeling taken care of...
The room and building were on the quiet side for New York City. The grocery, other stores, and subway station were just a block or two away. I couldn't have asked for a better stay in New York.
Thank you to Allie's Inn's staff for all they did to make our stay comfortable and to help us feel taken care of during the storm. I would highly recommend Allie's Inn and hope that you visit soon!
I stayed here while attending a conference in the West Village. It was very convenient to travel from this location (even the cab ride home on the weekend was only $30, which seemed like a steal in NYC). The accommodations were clean and quaint. The room was super quiet, even with the windows wide open. The food was terrific and there was a lot of it, and the bed was very comfortable.
The only thing I would recommend is that if you are allergic to down, let them know since all the pillows were filled with down. Also, if you are vegan or gluten free, let them know since the breakfast, which comes in your fridge, included a lot of dairy and grain. It is also not a disability accessible property. The only sort of odd thing was other than being let in, I never saw another person, which did make it a little impersonal--but, I did not mind that at all.
I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who wants a clean, comfortable and worry-free stay.
We stayed at Allie's for 3 nights in August while moving our son to school from Wisconsin. Allies was listed on Hotels.com and was near his new neighborhood so we decided to try it out. The room we stayed in was essentially an efficiency apartment; not just a bedroom. Nice little kitchen with everything we needed, looks just like the pictures. Breakfast items left in fridge were fresh. Plenty for 2 people during our stay. Comfy bed, quiet area of town. Short walk from subway, also parked our car down the street a bit. May have to drive around block a couple of times to find a spot
My daughter and I stayed here while moving her into City College dorm for a summer program. Ms. Moulton and her staff were friendly and accomodating, allowing us to have a box shipped to the brownstone in advance and kindly allowing us to store luggage while we explored the city before our return flight. The room was comfortable and clean, breakfast items were fresh and plentiful. I will recommend Allie's Inn to friends and look forward to another stay in the future.
Romy Nordlinger booked this on my behalf and she exceeded herself this time. I liked the quietness (not easy to find in a big city). Everything clean and stylish. Plenty of breakfast foods & also other.Suggestions -- 1: needs sitall saucepan (boil egg or heat milk) 2: ease pressure on front door. Exterior rating "great."
Great place! We will be back if they will have us ;)
I was a little hesitant to stay at this B and B because of the location but after spending a week in this part of Harlem I must say I fell in love with this part of NYC. Not a lot of fine dining close by. We we're coming from Atlanta so good luck impressing us with soul food, but we did go to the Apollo theatre and that was an AMAZING part of our trip! The subway is a block away and I felt safe between the subway and our temporary home. Since it's so close to the subway you can get anywhere within a reasonable amount of time. Once you are in the B and B and in you are in your room, you are locked down like a fortress. I really liked that aspect of the place. The food they provided us was adequate for the breakfast, everything was pretty healthy. We're healthy so that was cool. They gave us so much privacy we never even met the INN keeper to thank her. There's also a grocery store on down Frederick Douglas and a few convenient stores right around the corner should you need drinks and food. I think I'm coming back and when we do we'll bring some more folks and rent the other room. Very happy with our stay and we suggest you stay here if your looking for a safe affordable getaway to NYC!
Very close to the Subway, good value, I was disappointed that the breakfast was merely a few items in the fridge to have in the morning, I am accustom to having someone prepare breakfast but regardless it was convenient and helped us save money
My husband selected Allie's Inn and at first I was hesitant about staying at a bed and breakfast in Harlem vs. a hotel in New York City. I was very pleasantly surprised. The room is spacious and nicely decorated and super clean. The breakfast food was plentiful and healthy. The subway is literally around the corner and the neighborhood is very safe. We had a wonderful stay.
I stayed at Allie's Inn Bed and Breakfast November 18-20 and it made the trip so enjoyable. I was visiting my son who recently moved to NYC and the kitchen made for a perfect early morning meeting place. From there we walked one block to the subway and were all over NYC in no time. The room was large and airy, lovely accommodations and a very nice assortment of breakfast items. Clean, quiet, safe, we had a wonderful weekend much of it due to these terrific accommodations. I will come back again and again!
I recently stayed here for a business trip and have to admit that for the price and location, the bed and breakfast was great! It was VERY clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet. I would highly recommend
We had a stay of five nights planned to visit New York the first time. Our expectations were fully covered with this accommodation. The rooms are very clean and we received a warm welcome even we arrived at midnight. Fresh fruits and breakfast was available in the fridge. The studio is located in the first floor. The building is only two minutes far from a subway and its only 15 minutes to the centre. I definitely recommend this opportunity the stay in New York and would choose this once more for my next trip to NY. Katrin and Thomas from Germany

My husband and I spent three nights at Allie's and it was perfect! The steps up to the top floor gave us our daily workout! :-) Organic juice and whole grain bread with fresh cream cheese and a selection of jams were in the refrig for our breakfast. Yum! The bed was very comfortable. A computer in the room allowed us to keep our laptop packed. The neighborhood people were friendly; and OMG there was a delicious Caribbean buffet down the street (not the best in looks but the food was outstanding and the service was very helpful)! Subway entrance around the corner and we were set! We visit NYC a couple times a year. We will definitely stay at Allie's again (and again and again)!
This B&B is absolutely perfect. The rooms are meticulously clean, spacious and beautifully furnished. I greatly enjoyed my stay and the Marylin, the Inn Keeper, is outstanding. All rooms have a kitchenette - complete with a full fridge, gas stove, and appliances. My room also had a computer and work station. Everything from the bed, to the sheets, towels, cutlery, etc are 5-star. The location is also great - the inn is on a quiet and safe residential street steps away from the B & C trains, a 7 min walk from the 2 & 3 trains and many buses. I will definitely make sure my family and friends stay here when they come to NY to visit.
My husband and I rented a room at Allie's Inn in July 2011. We were in town to explore the area north of central park and find an apartment in the city. The Inn was centrally located and well equipped for our needs. The full kitchen was a great asset that allowed us to make meals at home and save some money. The room was clean and well maintained with many of the amenities I would expect from a mainstream hotel. The caretaker, Marilyn, was friendly and accomodating. The best part was getting to feel as though you were living in the city, not just visiting the overcrowded tourists areas. Although close acess to the ABCD lines made downtown travel convenient.
I would strongly reccomend this Inn for people looking to stay longer than a couple of days and in a less-explored but charming area of the city.
This B&B is a quaint get-away, very close to the subway in a quiet neighborhood. The InnKeeper(s) were pleasant, attentive and accommodating. Our room was nicely set-up just as you see in the pictures. We were offered a healthy selection of breakfast items (english muffins, juices, cereals, yogurt, fruit tray, milk, coffee etc) for our fridge plus chocolate treats. The only downfalls were there was no microwave in our room and the delay in hot water for the shower. Other than that, this is an ideal and alternative spot to stay in if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of Manhattan but still be close by. Highly recommend!

My stay at Allie's has been outstanding. The Garden Room is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The innkeeper responded promptly to all requests. It is close to public transportation and taxis are easily hailed at all hours of the day. Continental breakfast was very good. I would highly recommend this as a retreat while visiting NYC.
We really enjoyed our stay at Allie's. It was just what I was looking for, actually a townhouse studio apartment stocked with everything we needed and more than it was a bed and breakfast, and that was perfect. It felt like we were honorary Manhattanites. Half a block to the subway and a quick ride downtown on the "A" train from a spotlessly clean and luxuriously comfortable room with it's own kitchen. Three of us stayed for three nights very comfortably. We loved the selection of foods that we found in the fridge and the cabinets.
And Harlem was a bounty of music, home-style cooking and Afro-Caribbean delights. I will definitely be at Allie's the next time I'm in New York.
Coming from France, we spent one week in this very nice and clean appartment: my 18year-old daughter and me.The bed is more than comfortable, the decor pleasant and Marylin , the innkeeper, does everything to make you feel fine in this place. You will not see her a lot, but she there, when you need her."Allie's Inn" is a place that we recommand;it is quite and save. Even though we were two women and we came back sometimes late in the evening (always by the subway,) we never had any problem. A tip:Try to go to the Apollo Theater in the 125th street; the "amateurs Night" is really funny!
A beautifully furnished and finished place but no hot water for shower.

As stated, the room was great; however, there was no hot water for a shower. Also, I didn't know there were so many steps to climb with a 17 month old baby in tow.
Great going back to your comfortable room after a wearying day in the city
Our room was very comfortable with everything you need (especially electronic devices and free wifi)
The keeper welcome was great, she filled our fridge with anything we could need for breakfast.
The area is safe and very quiet.
We would definitely suggest it!
We found this to be a real find for us. Our last B&B find became so popular that we can never get reservations. Here is quiet, well located for bus and metro. We walk a lot so finding restaurants was no problem.
I stayed two very pleasant days at Allie's. I found the room very clean and comfortable and the staff responsive and efficient. Although it is quite a way uptown, there is a subway stop just one street away. I would certainly stay again. Howard

I spent 10 days in the B & B and I have nothing but great things to say. Beyond clean and very relaxing. It is the best place I have ever stayed on a trip and I will come back to Allie's without question.
Our family had a wonderful weekend at Allie's. We booked 2 rooms. What a breath of fresh air. We were able to walk to our favorite restaurant and even walked to Yankee stadium for a game. It was so relaxing. The beds are super, 2 great nights of sleep. We are absolutely coming back. Everything is there. Computer in each room. Great time in a quiet neighborhood. your stay will exceed your expectations.
Kevin
The room was clean, the food was organic and delicious. Had all the amenities of a home. The neighborhood was great, I was nervous at first in Harlem but it was amazing. I would/will come again.

This cozy inn at the park end of 136th St is a hidden treasure. Decorated with obvious care, well-equipped and comfortable, innkeeper Marilyn has created an oasis of calm in bustling Manhattan. Highly recommended.

What a delight it is to have discovered Allie's Inn!
My room turned out to be a fabulous, well-appointed studio apartment fully equipped with a complete kitchen (abundantly stocked with yummy breakfast items!), a computer with wi-fi, AC, and a flat screen TV. My windows opened onto a lovely, leafy tree top view. The neighborhood was fun and eclectic, and the subway just steps from the front door. When I needed an item or two, they were promptly and cheerfully delivered. I would stay at Allie's again in an instant!
Stay was ok, Was disappointed in the breakfast side of bed and breakfast. Three of us were there 5 nights, we got 4 cherry yogurts, some bannana and grapes, a package of onion flavored bagels and black berry jam as our breakfast to last the entire stay. Didn't meet the standard of other B&B's we have stayed at. Maybe there are other rooms available, but I made the assumption that the photos were of the room(s) we were renting. The first 8 photos were of where we stayed. Don't know where the other pictures (interior and park) were taken. Perhaps there is another room in the brownstone which she rents? This was not clear in the advertising. Very convenient to subway. And the local eating establishments were great.
Cute, cozy, clean, quaint, convenient. Wonderfully accommodating, fantastic innkeeper and sister, much better than average continental breakfast, and the most thoughtful touch of flowers and Godiva chocolates. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to others.

Luxurious. Classy. Homey. Light. Love. Compassion. Detailed. Attention. If looking for some place where you can feel at home, but with the certainty that you are away - this is it. Details that are sumputous: linens, bed, color, amenities, quiet. Close to transportation, CUNY, park. Peaceful.

Wonderful apt! Loved it! Definitely will recommend! Felt at home. Love all natural materials and healthy food! Would recommend. Full length mirror and microwave. Ceiling fan would be nice in between months.
Very clean and comfortable. Did not see much of the hostess. The room was at the top of two very steep flights of stairs, so this room is not ideal for an older couple or persons with a handicap.
We just spent two nights in the studio apartment at Allie's Inn. There were four of us and we had a great experience. The space is newly decorated and perfect for two - four people. We were met at the door by Sheila and given all the details we needed for a perfect stay. It is an easy subway ride to midtown and it is nice not to take your car any further into town. There is on- street parking which is a bit tricky for people like us (Vermonters) who are not used to altenate side parking each day, but moving the car each night to allow for the street sweepers made us feel like we belonged in the neighborhood. We will certainly return to Allie's Inn. Thank you Marilyn for a great stay.
We travelled to NYC with our nearly grown up children an stayed in marylin's studio for 8 nights with 4 persons. We felt very comfortable, the studio was newly decorated, good materials, very comfortable beds, very clean, bathroom all new and a fairly large walk in closet. The Kitchenette was just perfect - anything we needed. Marylin brought everything for breakfast we asked for every third day - real quality fruit and juice, cereals, milk, water etc. Room service during the stay will cost extra fee (25$) but is no problem - you tell the inn keeper the night before an she will organize the cleaning for the next day. The subway station is 3 minutes walking distance from the house, busses can be reached easily as well, so its no problem to go wherever you want in no time! We got an unlimited Metrocard for 7 days and got to love the tube! Restaurants are a few blocks to walk but its no problem. Nights are quiet as it is a residential area. We very much enjoyed our stay an would come again!
We stayed in the studio apt. (a two flight walk-up), which was clean, new, & beautifully decorated with a designer's touch. Our innkeeper stocked the kitchen with fruit, bagels, milk, cereal, yogurt & a beautiful dessert. The room was large, quiet & comfortable. The subway is a block away & costs $2.25 for a ride into the city. We stayed out late & took a cab back to Harlem, which costs about $20 or $25. We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful brownstone.
We stayed at this bed and breakfast for three nights. The room (studio apartment on the third floor) is very nice and the inn keeper, Marilyn, is very accomodating and helpful. We had a refrigerator full of breakfast food, including milk, strawberries and orange juice upon our arrival. She brought us additional food to start the third day. The apartment also had all of the necessary cooking supplies.
The apartment is in a residential area and not walking distance to any city attractions. However, the subway is very close and we used that to get downtown each day ($2.25 each). There is also a city bus that runs 10 blocks south of the apartment that will get you to/from the airport for very low cost (also, $2.25).
My only complaint is that I could not get internet access, but Marilyn let me use her computer to find what I was looking for.
I would recommend this apartment for anyone looking for an economical way to see the City.
