This was our second time staying here, first time for a few days during spring break and then again in january. The room is spaceous and clean and Megan is very friendly and accomodating. We had no trouble brining our 4 year old with us and she loved walking the property, the chickens and felix and bess. We love how green and sustainable the place is as well. We will be coming back again some time this year!

We have stayed at the Retreat several times already. This place is a find, with an attentive B&B host, offering a selection of very good breakfasts, a large and well appointed room, and a great location within Woodstock. By the way, there is no on-site dining, but I could not submit this review without rating it!

We were delighted to return to Tree Gap for our third visit in August 2015. Fortunately, nothing had changed and we had another wonderful trip. We stayed in the White Pines suite, which was rustic and peaceful. We loved the homemade breakfast, and Megan's hospitality (along with greetings from Bess & Felix) made us feel like we were visiting a friend. We left feeling renewed, recharged and looking forward to our next visit.

Coming from the UK for a wedding in Woodstock, we fund the TreeGap a perfect place to relax and enjoy the area, I would strongly recommend it to anyone. The host is really approachable and breakfast changes everyday, loved it. We would go back tomorrow.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Cottage House for a weekend in May and it was everything we'd hoped for! The room was incredibly cozy with all the amenities and the bathroom was cute and clean. Aside from some wasp issues on the first night, our stay was lovely. Megan is an amazing cook and will bring fresh breakfast to the door each morning! Dedication. And we got to enjoy the grounds and chickens, too. Overall a delightful relaxing place to come back to after a long day of hiking or a night of eating.

My wife and I stayed here for Memorial Day Weekend. It is truly a retreat- peaceful, private, with a huge bedroom, comfortable king bed,, private bathroom, dressing room, and outdoor private porch where one can sit or have breakfast outside or in your room in the White Oak Room There are no other guests in the main house, so if you enjoy privacy and a nice breakfast served to you in your room, this is the place! Megan is a wonderful hostess. It is a few miles outside of Woodstock but worth the short ride to be away from town.Breakfast is very good and served at the time you choose.. Recommended for those who want a more peaceful, rustic experience without the mandatory conversation with other guests. Very romantic!

This was a wonderful place to spend the weekend. We especially enjoyed befriending the cat, Felix; the dog, Bess; and a variety of chickens!

Beautiful. Peaceful. So much attention to the details. Lavendar body wash, yummy vegetarian breakfast each morning. A lovely dog and cat on the property as well as chickens. Beautiful surroundings. Great location. Lovely shower and amenities. Megan is very hospitable and welcoming. We were able to "unplug" from our hectic lives. Great books in the bookcases. Lots of outlets (just in case). We slept beautifully. I totally recommend it and I will come back.

If you are looking for a place to stay in the Woodstock area, stop now and stay at TreeGap. The property, house, and rooms are spectacular. The owners are friendly and leave you in peace to enjoy the place. The cat (Felix) and dog (Bess) are so much fun to have around. Breakfast is very tasty and delivered to your room.

We loved our stay at Megan's cozy home! Spacious room with a comfy bed, window seat and even your own balcony. We love our customized breakfasts and quiet time on this environmentally friendly property. Close enough to town but far enough to really have a true getaway from city life (we visited from NYC). Plus, if you love animals their pets are the sweetest - the cat hung out with us all weekend :)

Retreat at TreeGap was the perfect location for a quiet, romantic weekend. Close enough to town, yet extremely private. The beautiful porch off the White Pine Suite was ideal for taking our breakfast. Megan, the innkeeper was a pleasure. She provided everything we needed, but also gave us plenty of privacy to enjoy her beautiful home. If you're looking for a place to stay in Woodstock, look no further!

Retreat at TreeGap is gem! My husband, 11-year-old son and I stayed in the Carriage House 8/15-8/16 and could not have asked for a more peaceful respite. Megan is a gracious hostess and a skilled cook who easily accommodated my husband's gluten and dairy free diet. Moreover, we'd had some concerns about my husband's allergy to cats, but there were absolutely no signs that Felix had ever set paws in our accommodations. Finally, my son fell in love with Bess, one of the sweetest dogs we've ever met. Near town and hiking trails, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking to stay overnight in Woodstock.

We really enjoyed our stay at the TreeGap. The grounds are beautiful and you are surrounded by nature. It's feels as if you are living in Woodstock vs. staying at an Inn. We stayed in the Carriage House which is a great room and very well equipped with natural bath products, tea, coffee and some other snacks in the fridge. There's a small patio to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the chickens. We will definitely be back!

A nice comfortable place to stay a few days

I chose the Retreat at TreeGap from a brief online description, and I have never been happier with a decision. It was a birthday weekend for my friend, and I couldn't have chosen a more perfect spot if I had had a hundred places from which to choose. The room was clean and charming, the location convenient but private and the food healthy and delicious. Megan is a charming and hospitable hostess and I look forward to spending time at her beautiful retreat in the future.

I expected the Retreat at TreeGap to be nice--after all, its not cheap! But the room was so lovely, the land so ancient and spirit filled and our young hostess so utterly charming, that I was floored by the entire experience. This place is special!

We have stayed at TreeGap twice and will continue to see it as our home away from home. It is a beautiful setting, very peaceful, convenient to all the attractions of Woodstock, the food is delicious--Megan is a wonderful cook! We feel so fortunate to have this experience in our lives!

Was not expecting the surroundings to be so beautiful at the end of the month of November but they were. Babbling brooks, blue mountains visible through bare trees, the sound of wind moving through the tree branches. Fresh air, silence. A deer or two meeting us on the path. A beautiful bird. The guest room is newly renovated and very comfortable. The whole house is well maintained and inviting. The kitchen, where we warmed up our Thanksgiving dinner, brought with us from Manhattan, was spacious and well-equipped. Megan Reynolds, the innkeeper is very accommodating and also very respectful of privacy. Always ready with suggestions and information about activities/hikes/dining in the surrounding area.

TreeGap is tucked away near the top of a back road just outside the town of Woodstock. It's extremely quiet, so if peace and quiet is what you seek, TreeGap is the place. The room is huge, beautifully decorated, and has a wonderful king sized sleigh bed. The breakfasts are healthy and fresh, and the innkeeper is friendly and attentive. The room rates are reasonable, and this was an overall superb getaway experience.

The oversized room and king-sized bed and little bay window nook were all very cozy. The sun porch was an awesome place to overlook the beautiful land and listen to the crickets at night and eat breakfasts every morning that were excellent, like homemade yogurt, fresh local peaches, omelets with tomatoes and basil. (Can you tell we liked the food?) The innkeeper was very helpful-- gave us info on local mountain trails and lent us a couple of beach chairs for an outdoor event. We will definitely return!

A spectacular hideaway; a one-suite retreat, yet easily accessible to Woodstock;a kind and gentle host who is also a great cook; the screened porch off of the huge bedroom is a real perk! You can walk through the Arts & Crafts colony, Byrdcliffe, within whose boundaries this special place is located. The Retreat itself is built in the Arts & Crafts style.Truly a place for rest and relaxation, and a special memory for years to come!

The Retreat at TreeGap was the perfect escape for our three-day memorial weekend. Me, my husband and my two year old son were in great need of a change of scenery and some fresh air. Meg’s Place was an easy 1 ½ hour drive from our New Jersey home. Some of the highlights for us were the rustic charm of the tastefully decorated farmhouse and the delicious breakfasts prepared by Meg herself. The spacious and clean bedroom had a huge deck overlooking a beautiful meadow that our toddler really enjoyed exploring. My husband and I both especially enjoyed reading in the serenity of the lovely 16 acre property. One afternoon, we ventured into nearby Woodstock, and enjoyed strolling around the town, window shopping, visiting the flea market and eating ice cream. I highly recommend that others treat themselves to The Retreat at TreeGap. You’ll enjoy everything about it.

Wonderland. Wonderland is the one word that best sums up The Retreat at Tree Gap. I don't know what we were expecting being led up the stairs the room, but upon entering, I do remember having an Alice type experience -you know, the one where she was just small. The king-sized bed all by itself is worth the price admission. Lying in it, surrounded by a uniquely wonderful mix of modern and classic furnishings, in a room the size of a small barn, we wondered why we didn't have to wait a year to get into this plushness. Tucked away in the beauty of the Catskills, and a five minute drive from the (would you believe) quaint city of Woodstock, I suppose we could have spent weeks hiking, shop browsing, and eating. But we didn't feel one bit guilty lying around and eating the yummy, thoughtfully prepared food and exploring the acres and acres of walking trails that were just outside our door. I didn't ask where Bob Dylan's old pad was, but yeah, those rock stars had it figured out back in the day… Other highlights were cooling off on the deck at night while listening to the far-off barking of mountain coyotes, and the guilty pleasure of watching late night movies in high-definition television. Oh yeah, I should mention that the proprietor is focused on giving you an eco-friendly experience, complete with locally produced food, and energy provided by the sun. So yeah, we can't wait for our next return down this rabbit hole.
