Gli ospiti non possono credere che essi sono nella 'città'. Una casa tranquilla, anziane con motivi boscose, spaziose e un ' countryish'feeling, ma con un facile accesso, tramite il famoso Staten Island Ferry, all'emozione di Manhattan e glitter. Con casa pane cotto, conserva in casa e l'aroma del caffè macinato fresco, tutti serviti davanti al fuoco o sulla veranda, molti dicono di che sentirsi come essi dimorano in una casa colonica. Pignola sulle camere pulite, servizio pasto attraente e attenzione personale.

I stayed with Miriam for 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed her company and lovely house. One night I was not feeling well and she nursed me back to health going out of her way and more than is expected at any B&B. She had fresh flowers, artisan soaps, delicious and very filling breakfasts, but the best thing was her company and someone to talk to. She went out of her way to help me through a hard time and listened with good advise. She even gave my a ride to an appointment and the last day helped me to the ferry. But due to a rainy day she continued helping tooking the ferry with me to Manhattan and on to the subway with my luggage. She is a real gem! This is no 5-star hotel, but it is even better because of her and her kindness. And what a value in NYC

We stayed with Miriam this past week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit with her. We had fresh flowers, artisan soaps, delicious and very filling breakfasts, but the best thing was feeling like we were coming home every night. We affectionately referred to Miriam as 'mom'. She went out of her way to meet my special dietary needs and provide sightseeing advice. She even gave us a ride to the ferry the first day when she realized we missed the bus while purchasing our Metro Card at the local market on the corner. She is a real gem! This is no 5-star hotel, but it is even better because of her. And what a value in NYC!

Hartshorne House is a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay for a visit to New York City. Thank you Mrs. Ellis for the sumptuous breakfasts and the friendly reception. Highly recommended!

Beautiful "country" home in the city. Just a short walk or bus-ride to the Staten Island Ferry. Miriam is serious about her beautiful breakfasts.

I stayed with Miriam for 6 nights last week. If you are looking for the lap of luxury, look elsewhere. If you want a clean, comfortable place to stay while touring NYC, then come here. The house was built just after the Civil War, and it is showing its age, but it is a very hospitable place. The food is excellent, and you will not walk away hungry! The bus and ferry ride to Manhattan are both very convenient. I would recommend this B&B to anyone on a budget who wants to see New York.

I stayed 4 nights in October 2009. Miriam Ellis was a lovely host who was always helpful with information and had wonderful breakfasts prepared for you. My room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. The bus stop was right out front which took you to the ferry and the ferry was just a short ride across to the exciting city of new york. I would stay here again.

This place is outside of busy and noisy manhattan, so you enjoy from your visit in a cosy, homely athmosphere, while still being in the "Big Apple". Miriam Ellis is a wonderful personality, and cooks everyday a wonderful breakfast! Pay attention : Only book this B&B when you have the time, to relax, have a good breakfast, and have the time to take the ferry to Manhattan. Everything was clean, and the rooms were nicely decorated. The bathroom was ok, but could do with a renovation. Overall : really great value for your money, and a very warm thanks to Mrs Ellis!!
