Peter Shields Inn

We recently visited PSI on our way home from Virginia to NJ with our new car. We had the pleasure of trying two rooms: Room 1 on the second floor facing the ocean and Room 6 on the third floor. The first is lovely and good sized, but subject to more sounds of other guest socializing in the second floor sitting room or from the dining room below if they happen to have an unusually late crowd, which I'm told is not common. We moved to the much quieter third floor on our second night and very much enjoyed the smaller, freshly renovated room. Our one dinner at their famed restaurant was outstanding. They deserve all the accolades!

My husband and I went for a mini honeymoon. We only stayed one night but we fell so in love with Peter Sheilds Inn that we wanted to stay longer. Our room was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and everything within the house was perfect. We loved our stay so much that we are looking forward to returning next year!

We completely enjoyed our stay at PSI. If you stay there you must have Dinner at least once. Take advantage of their PSI Love You dinner special. The staff was fantastic going out of their way to make sure your stay was wonderful. Don't forget to participate in the wine and cheese get together in the afternoon. Everyone has a blast.

We were delighted to be across the street from the ocean. The inn offers bicycles, beach chairs, towels and umbrellas for guest use. We took full advantage of them. The breakfast was outstanding. It was great to have a choice and also enjoy the ocean view on the screened-in porch. Any questions were addressed immediately. The wine and cheese in the afternoon provided another opportunity to meet some very nice guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay,

The staff was wonderful and helpful. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner on the porch with an ocean view. We used both the bikes and the chairs/umbrellas for the beach, nice touch.

We came for our 3rd anniversary--- and it was a great weekend. We stayed in room 6 and though the regular AC was out, the did have a window unit in that worked fine (though we no longer had an ocean view). The breakfast on the deck every morning was perfect. We took full advantage of the bikes, chairs, and beach towels they have to offer (loved that we didn't have to pack our own!) We did dine at the restaurant on Saturday night- it happened to be restaurant week, so keep this in mind, but they were so busy that we were very rushed it seems. We were in and out in just over an hour for a 3 course meal--- I would have preferred a more leisurely paced meal, but the food was outstanding. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed as well but again, this could have been due to being completely booked for restaurant week. Loved the wine and cheese every afternoon at 4:30...don't show up too late! we came at 5:30 and all the wine was gone :( Overall amazing stay---can't beat the location across from the beach! It is a bit pricey but worth it! Great Inn and we will certainly be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Peter Shields Inn. Everyone was helpful, accommodating and friendly; we enjoyed our use of the bikes and beach chairs--and the breakfasts were fantastic, both the quality of the food and the ocean view--the covered porch was lovely, even in the rain. Peter Shiels is a lovely facility located across from the Cape May beach so offers a wonderful view of the ocean. inner at the Peter Shillds restaurant was great; however, we found the breakfast disappointing. There was only one entree offered with very little else available if you didn't want.

The PS Inn is a nice, adequate bed and breakfast in Cape May, NJ. I wouldn't say that it offers anything more or better than the many other B&Bs in Cape May. There really wasn't anything to complain about specifically, but likewise, nothing really to rave about or make me want to return to. I will say that the included 3 course dinner was exceptional and truly a nice bonus for staying in the month of April. Unfortunately it was clear that the chef in the evening is not the same person who cooks your breakfast, which was merely adequate. When I stay at a B&B I want exceptional service, a great breakfast, and get to know the Inn Keepers on a personal level. I don't think I ever met the owners/Inn Keepers, which was disappointing. While there was nothing deficient in our stay, my wife and I already agreed we would not be returning to the PSI for future Cape May visits.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at PSI. Very peaceful and relaxing and we hated to leave. We will definitely be back. Rick & Elaine

We went during the week between Christmas and New Year and we stayed two nights.

Dear Jeff and Kathy, Bob and I had a most perfect two days in your most quintessential inn! The Lord was working hand in hand in making our stay the ultimate in luxury and relaxation. The sun, the beach, the food, the service, the walks, the guests and the time to be alone and quiet to celebrate the last 25 years together and the next 25, was beyond our expectations. All we missed was an outdoor shower in the Jeffrey Spa!!! So happy to share a birthday and our anniversary with you, jeff!! Hugs to Kathy who we missed seeing. kiera was exceptional in her cappucino skills!! The room was exceptional and God made sure the view was awesome! Blessings and thanks to you. Can't say enough about the beautiful time we had at the Inn! The staff was so helpful when we arrived with car trouble. Bridget and Megan guided us through the repair and even offered to drive us back to the inn from the service center. The amenities were by far the nicest we have ever experienced from any other inn and the food was delicious, both at breakfast and dinner. It was so lovely to spend the late afternoon sipping wine on the front porch, so relaxing and with such beautiful views! We loved having the use of the bicycles to get around town. We would love to come back one day, we didn't get to see enough of Cape May. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful time!

My sister and I went to the PSI because I had a B&B certificate and she turned 40 - so a celebration trip! We picked the Peter Shields Inn because of its ocean view and simple elegance, and we were not disappointed! We had ocean views constantly from the front porches, the upper sitting room, and our dormer room. We loved our quaint room which was quite roomy with 2 chairs to sit in. The staff was friendly and helpful at every turn. We met one of the owners while she was gardening and had a lovely chat with her. We loved sitting on the front porch talking with others and taking in the ocean views. We enjoyed using the bicycles and beach chairs provided by PSI. Our breakfast was scrumptuous - lemon riccota pancakes w/bacon or sausage. The decor is simple elegance at every turn. Beautiful vases of flowers, urns of flowers out front, and attractive and comfortable porch to enjoy. I was afraid when I saw the online photos, that it might be a stuffy environment, but that was hardly the case. The turndown service and cleaning staff were also very personable and helpful. We checked out at 11 am, but were free to still enjoy the inn's bicycles, chairs and porch. Thank you so much PSI for a truly memorable and relaxing stay.

Just spent 3 nights and 4 days in Cape May at the Peter Shields Inn, from the time we walked in the front door till we left, we were overwhelmed with fantastic service, great food - both for breakfast and dinner, just an outstanding stay. Our room faced the ocean, so we had a birds eye view each morning of the day ahead of us, we can't wait to go back. The staff made us feel like we were a King and Queen.

Spent a this past weekend at Peter Shields in with 5 other couples. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Peter Shields Inn was clean, friendly, food was fabulous, wait staff was incredible, rooms were beautiful - one nicer than the other. Wine and Cheese was fabulous. We had a wonderul weekend and can't wait to return. I would give this place a ten on all counts- It exceeded my expectations on everything it is outstanding...What you see is what you get and 100% more. thank you Peter Shields Inn for a fabulous weekend. The Peter Shields Inn is FANTASTIC! Bridget is wonderful as are all the staff. The Inn is cozy and very comfortable!! A great value! You will not be disappointed!!

We spent three days at the Peter Shields in July 2010 and had such a nice visit. The location, view, and kindness of everyone was exceptional. The bubble jets in the bathtub did not work unfortunately, but next time we hope to enjoy that experience in Room 1.

Well to start,we've been there several times,but this is my first time review for anything.As always the hospitality,cleanleness,food,etc,was impecable.We had a great time,and it was due to the personal of the Inn.My personal thanks to Bridget,and Megan,they made things very comfortable.The rooms were very comfortable,food on the money,menu diversive,alot to choose from.We witnessed a wedding that was performed by the (Rev.)Bridget,and very well done.Breakfast very tasty.And the floor show(just kidding)was a lot of fun.The weather wasn't the best of time alot of snow,but all things fell into place.I,highly recommend this Inn to all,I,cannot see anyone not enjoying themselves.They make it very comfortable and at ease.It's a perfect getaway for all.Try it you'll like it.Jim Collins Feb 12th/15th
