I stayed at the Dana Place Inn with my fiancé for two nights in September 2011. The room was very nice and clean and the food and service are very good. They offered a choice of different foods for breakfast and when we were gone for the day they prepared lunch bags for us. We did not dine there since the restaurant seemed quite expensive (entrees between 22-24 USD), but Jackson with a variety of restaurants is only a five minute drive away. Unfortunately, we were the only guests there at the time which made us feel quite awkward. Other than that our stay was very nice and I can recommend the place.

The staff are friendly, accommodating, and just nice people wanting to help you have an enjoyable stay. There is a nice selection on the menu for the breakfast and dinner meals. The food is served with a nice presentation and is enjoyable. The breakfast room is a sun room area appropriate for a morning start, while the evening dining room by the fire is a cozy comfortable formal setting (suitable also for a romantic evening for two). The inn is an older building that has been added to over the years. While the interior shows its age, it is well maintained and provides that old country inn feeling. While the room furnishings we stayed in were not upscale, it was clean, comfortable, roomy and warm. Nordic and downhill skiers will appreciate it.

All in all, not a bad place but different. Arrrived late Friday to find key taped to door and place unlocked. Figured it was nice New Hampshire hospitality & safe. Room was good size and clean. Cable did not work, called a number, said they would fix it next day and offered free drinks at dinner on Sat. Cable was fixed next day, but found it funny that wire was coming in from outside but tv did work. Did follow through on drinks. Breakfast both days were good. Dinner was very good on Saturday night. Waitress was good. Nice personality Few things that were strange - seemed like there was only 2 people working there - desk lady/bartender & waitress. The desk lady was always running in and out of kitchen, bar, and to the front desk. She did work of all 3 during dinner. This kind of made us feel like we were bothering them because phone ringing, making drinks, running to kitchen to get things. When I asked about ice for room, she stated it was in back, so I said I would get it, and she meant in kitchen, so not sure how you would get it after hours. People were always milling about lobby waiting for her. She was always pleasant and attentive when she came running by. The bar is nice but not made for lounging even though they have seating. Seems like it's just more a service bar. Pool area was nice. Beds & pillows were extremely firm so if you like that, you'll be fine. Like I said, think it was good value for the package, very old country setting, comfortable, safe..I would reccommend it

My wife and I stayed at Dana Place February, 2010. We booked a package which included two breakfasts, one Saturday dinner and a light buffet on Friday. In addition was included a beverage allowance, a cordial tray each day, a box lunch on Saturday and wine and cheese each afternoon from. When we arrived the parking lot was partially plowed and was a wet, sloppy mess. I waited 10 minutes at the desk for the innkeeper to appear, but had to go flag her down in a corridor as she passed without acknowledging me. During the whole stay there was no explanation of the details of the package, nor did the staff ever learn even our last name. I inquired agout the buffet and was told that it included fruit salad, chicken and a soup, which she did not know what kind (specifically whether it contained meat, as it was during lent). We opted to eat out and when I checked upon returning found that there was no fruit salad, but lettuce salad. At dinner the we ordered the advertised four-course dinner, but were told that appetizers were excluded. The waittress also questioned our eligibility for the free dinner. The inkeeper was called to the dining room, asked us our name, didn't think we were eligible and had to go to the front desk to check. Highly embarrassing. I also had to ask if wine was covered by the beverage allotment, which it was. We also never found out till we read our billing receipt that gratuities were included in the package. The physical condition of the inn is somewhat threadbare and we got the idea that they were trying to survive on a shoestring budget. I learned from a couple who had stayed at the inn multiple times that there had been a change in management within the family owners, and they concurred that the quality of service and maintenance had deteriorated. In conclusion I would say that the Dana Place Inn lacks the warm, friendly ambiance that you would expect in a New England Inn.

It is unfortunate that guests leave disappointed with an experience they have here. What is more unfortunate is that, being a local innkeeper, that we don't hear of these incidents as they happen, and are given an opportunity to correct them on the spot. There is always an owner or manager on the property, every shift, who is happy to speak with guests regarding their experiences. As unfortunate situations arise, we pride ourselves on being able to immediately correct anything that could possibly go awry during your stay with us. We hope that in the future, guests will take the opportunity given to them to speak directly with a member of our staff to immediately correct their situation, rather than leave us dissatisfied. We wish you had mentioned that your package included free buffet the first night, dinner from the menu the second night, Xcountry skiing 2 days, wine and cheese on the house daily, a $25 Beverage credit and courci9als in the evening. All for $359 for the weekend for the couple. Yes, on this package there is a gratuity charge for the staff. As for ownership, the inn is still in the family as it has been for almost 30 years.

My family and I stayed at the Dana Place Inn when I had a conference in town a week ago. The first evening we were there the ceiling in the bathroom fell down and the front desk staff made no move to rectify the situation. (they did patch it up the next day, but did not clean up the floor of all the spakle and left drywall dust all over all the towels, toilet and sink.) The bedrooms were dirty, with cobwebs in the corners, a used diaper on the sill outside the window and the beds were uncomfortable. When I returned to the 'hotel' after the conference I notice my Chanel eye glasses that were left on the nightstand were no longer there. I again told the front desk staff who was unfazed. I tried to tell the staff the next morning, but the line of people making complaints to the girl that was serving breakfast/checking out/handling complaints was so long that I would have missed my conference. I called the next day and the acting manager said that it was impossible that anyone could have taken the glasses. He said that he would go check and search the room. I called later and he said that he tore the room apart and found no glasses. He said that he would go check the maids closet. I called 5 min later and he said that he had found them, but he refused to believe that the maid had anything to do with it. He actually got belligerent and aggressive when I told him that I was extremely upset and wanted the glasses mailed back to me. He refused to assume the cost of mailing the glasses and when I said that I would pay to have them safely returned, he said he changed his mind and I would have to drive the 3 hours back up there to get them because he was unwilling to do anything. Save yourselves the heartache.

Facts: 1. Guest stayed 2 nights 2. Bathroom fixed in 1 hour and dinner was given on the house to make up for it 3. Bathroom was across the hall in older section of inn as told guest prior to reservation 4. Glasses were found next day after departure 5. Inn offered to mail them at inn's cost USPS 6. Guest called 8 times to insist they were sent next day mail, FED EX, specific boxing and $700 of insurance 7. Inn would send USPS at inns cost, extra costs to be responsibility of guest 8. Guest's inn stay was $125 per night with breakfast 2 days, wine and cheese 2 days and dinner on the house 1 night. No room in rate for an additional $62 in insured, special packing, Fed ex over night 9. Guest sent her Dad to pick up glasses, glasses were returned. 10. Can't understand why Inn would want someone's prescription glasses.

We have now stayed 3 weekends in a row. We love it here. Our room was newly renovated, food is great and the staff is lovely. I can't tell you how much we love this place.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it. Great Food! What a location. Our room was on the back of the house with views of the river. It was large and clean. We will be back.

We purchased the 2 night package at the inn. For the price you get 2 nights lodging, breakfast 2 mornings. dinner 1 night and skiing 2 days. The inn is clean, well staffed and the pool is hot. For $359 for the weekend for the 2 of us, what else could we ask for. We re-booked for March. By the way, we come to the valley 3 times a year, and the food at the Dana Place maybe the best in the valley.

We stayed in the new Carriage House last weekend. The inn is doing over one room over every month. They are putting a bunch of money into the inn. I met the full time onsite maintenance staff. You should see what they are doing here. As for the room its was great, the food some of the best and pool hot and perfect. Look out Jackson, there is no other location like Pinkham Notch and as every room is done over, there will be no other place to stay. We prebooked 5 days in July.

We found this inn by mistake. Driving to Wildcat we found it on the left just minutes to the slopes. It may have some of the best food I have had. We were able to get the new cottage. It has a loft for a bedroom with a sleigh bed and the living room has a fireplace. The staff was happy and I could tell they actually enjoyed what they do. We booked again for January.

We loved our stay last weekend at the Dana Place. We found it on Bed and Breakfast dot com and found a real jewel. It is 5 minutes to the village of Jackson and 15 minutes to North Conway. But, you are in the middle of the National Forest! We had a room with a deck that looked over the river. It was a nice room, good size bath and VERY clean. The food was exceptional. The chef they have is tops. The pool was warm and the Jacuzzi great. Make sure you order the Tenderloin!

We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and had a great stay. Our room had great views, the food was great. The inns location is in the woods. We will return.

We stayed at this little out of the way Inn for a weekend. We found the staff very helpful and eager to please. The food was very good and would recommend this Inn as a stop for all who visit Jackson New Hampshire. We were in a room in the back of the Inn and the sound of the brook running through the property was wonderful while sitting out on the deck. The room was very comfortable. Bathroom was a good size. The Inn is nestled very close to Pinkham Notch. Wonderful Scenery.
