What an interesting place! Love the bar in the basement... PIANO GUY ON SATURDAY WAS AWESOME! You should get that piano player or another one for Thursday - Saturday... Fantastic breakfast.... WIFI was crack a lackin! Loved it! Then a short walk to WURSTFEST made it even more crack a snacken!
We have been staying at Comal Inn for many years and this is our first stay since the new owners, Julie and Brent, took it over. They have really spiffied it up! The decor is very soothing and comfortable, the breakfast goodies were excellent and plentiful, and the location just can't be beat. Julie and Brent were eager to make sure that our stay was top notch and that we felt spoiled. We had a great time and will be back!
The Inn is a beautiful updated Old Home and very well maintained. I only stayed one night and had a wonderful breakfast the next morning. I did find the bed a little too firm as well as the pillows, but over all very nice, quiet, location..
This was our first time using a bed and breakfast, as we wanted to see if it was better than staying in a hotel. I have to admit, the rooms and breakfasts were nice and I wasn't nearly as worried about "germ exposure" as I have been at hotels, but it was hard to get the room cool enough for us and the water pressure was insufficient for paying the extra money. When we complained about the water pressure, they wouldn't let us off the next night's reservation but did move us to a different room. It was better but still really soft. But the service personnel were very nice and made us feel welcome. I will use them again.......
This is a very cute Bed & Breakfast to stay at. Everyone was friendly and we loved our stay in the Sophie Suite. One thing to keep in mind for that room is that it is just above the piano bar. If you don't enjoy piano music playing till midnight on the weekends, you may want to consider a different room. We actually enjoyed it. Speaking of the piano bar below the hotel, it is great! It feels like you are in a 20's era speakeasy. The hotel was great and the location was awesome too.
After staying at multiple hotels in the San Antonio area while our daughter was a student at Trinity, this B&B was recommended to us by one of my daughter's friends. After staying there the first time, we have repeatly stayed there because of the convenient location to Trinity and it's homey feel. We have it booked for our entire family for our daughter's graduation from Trinity because it will feel like we're hosting from our own home. The breakfast is great too. We highly recommend this place!
We spent our 11th anniversary at Lamps Rest Inn. It was perfect for what we wanted for our celebration. In addition they were very helpful for me to get my wonderful wife flowers in our room on our anniversary. I highly recommend this facility if you want to stay in the area.
We stayed here only one night. But it was very nice, quiet and so relaxing. Our room was extremely clean. I really liked how we could walk down some steps to the river or just stay on the porch to enjoy a relaxing glass of wine. Also having our morning coffee outside.
The property is immaculately maintained with a lovely terraced back yard leading down to 2 separate decks from which to watch the river roll by beneath the shade of pecans and live oaks. The linens are sumptuous--one melts into a great night's sleep. The proprietors and the staff are friendly and genuinely interested in providing a great stay. They seem to instinctively realize how much attention guests desire--whether a great deal or not much--and respond to that. Breakfast is delicious and served in a large, sunlit room with a solid bank of windows looking out upon the back yard and gardens. And the cookies. Excellent cookies. I left a pair of sandals and Diane graciously mailed them to me which I really appreciate.
Very quaint and comfortable. A bit dated but very clean and the innkeeper and staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very good. The porch and decks overlooking the river were our favorite inn attribute. We enjoyed our one night stay and will plan to stay there again in the future.
We spent two very pleasant days at Arbor House and met the new owner Dale. He went out of his way to accommodate us and proved very knowledgeable about the city. The House is a period historic house and Dale served very good breakfasts to us. We would definitely stay gain.
We had a great stay! It is a very relaxed environment, no one in your face.. we came and go as we pleased. Breakfast is set up for 2 hours, so you are free to come down when you want it. Other bed and breakfast's often have specific time. Lovely neighborhood. We would recommend this place!!
The owners provide the best experience I've had at a B&B. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the staff is welcoming and friendly, and the location just outside the Gruene community provides for tranquility from a busy day of sightseeing and river tubing.
We have been here several times. We love this place. Each time we go back, we reserve a different room. It is almost like visiting a different place each time, except for the special little touches of the folks at the Gruene Mansion Inn. The breakfast is scrumptious. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are each uniquely decorated. It is within walking distance to several restaurants and small town shopping. The Guadalupe River runs right behind the Inn with R&R River Rides which will help you with tubes or rafts. Schliterbahn Water Park is about 1 1/2 miles down the road. What more could you ask for?
My husband and I had the absolute greatest time in San Antonio..and a big part of that was due to The Arbor House, Ron and staff!! Beautiful rooms and property..Ron and the rest of the Arbor House family went above and beyond. Thanks for everything guys! We can't wait to come back! Jason & Annie
We were in the market for a room close enough to venues in the area we could walk to and recalled the Gruene Mansion Inn from a trip to Gruene hall in 2011. The descriptions of the rooms and recommended party size was right on. All the staff were super helpful and went above andbeyond our entire stay. The room was absolutely the best room I have ever stayed in, antique and country decor was awesome, and I have easily paid 3 times the amount for a quarter of the quality of amenities and stay. The buffet breakfast included in the morning is the best breakfast you will be offered at any Resturant. Food was being freshly prepared and the taste and variety was outstanding. We will without any doubt be staying here yearly on our river trip, and I assure you you will not be disappointed.
We spent two nights in the Huntington room. This was our first out-of-town weekend together. The inn has a nice atmosphere. It was very well kept and we were happy with the room. Comfy bed. Bathroom a little small. Location was great. I would stay there again...
My sister and I stayed here as our mothers trip we do every year. We are both mom's and work full time. We stayed two nights and three days. It was the prefect getaway. Very peaceful, quiet, relaxing, and the food was delicious. We will be back next year and might even being the husband's.
We love this place. Been there about 5 times. Breakfast has always been a disappointment. This last stay couldn't even eat it. We have had the same menu served every time. Al is always attentive and welcoming. Great location! Great atmosphere.
To stary off with. No one greets you. Your key is posted on wall when you arrive. Whrn you get to your room there is a bucket with bottle of warm water and directions where to find ice. Warm bottled water is also in the lobby and you are charged $1 for it. Beds were uncomfortable with unmatching sheets and footboard of one bed broken. Paint chipping in bathroom. No handrail for tub or shower. No shelving to put shower supplies on. A very slippery bath mat in tub that I slipped and almost fell on. Also, we were asked repeatedly in email and texts prior to arrival to let them know if wr had any special dietary or food requests. My friend for religious beliefs cannot drink coffee or tea and only other alternative was orange juice. For medical readons my friend can't drink orange juice. I asked the girl serving (not sure who she was as no one introduced themselves) if wd could please have an alternate juice choice for the next morning and why and was told no we only have orang juice very rudely. It was not an extreme rsquest and wouldn't have affected other guests. Why did they ask then? They made a grocery list on wall and had the OJ on it why not add another juice to list. There are other juices in grocery next to OJ. Not that hard. Other people staying there requested no dairy so the cheese was removed from the eggs and no one got cheese. But no one can have another juice that wouldn't affect anyone else? Also a woman watered and wet down entire porch
