It's always such a great experience when a stay at a B and B exceeds your expectations. We recently stayed with Vicki and Neeraj (in the Africa room) and it was a wonderful experience. My wife and I have stayed in B and Bs all over the country. The bottom line is you want a very comfortable bed, a clean overall home, good food and hopefully good conversation. Asheville Green Cottage had all of that and more. It was a great stay and we highly recommend this B and B.
the out-of-africa room was spacious! The breakfast was awesome too... fruit bowl, muffins, scramble eggs w/ sun-dried tomato, pesto, asaga cheese, fair-traded coffee. yum! very eco-minded place. Good efforts in living green!
Our highest compliments to Vicki and Neeraj for their wonderful B&B. We loved everything about our stay and even extended our visit because we felt so good in the space. The B&B is nestled in a quiet hilltop neighborhood central to everything we wanted to do in Asheville. Our Zen Garden room was clean and comfortable (and zen!) - we enjoyed just hanging out in the room checking email and planning our days. Best of all, the B&B is truly 'green' which means a healthy, organic, and sustainable-focused home base for your Asheville stay.
My partner and I stayed for a night in the mediterranean room. The room was small but very clean! The bathroom was also very clean and the house had a very cozy and welcoming feel. The absolute best part was breakfast. We sat down at the table with other guests and enjoyed some amazing ethiopian coffee, a delicious fruit plate (kiwi, starwberries, apples, bananas), home made zuccini bread, and eggs served with spinach and goat cheese. They also offered oatmeal as an option. We ate breakfast and talked to the other guests for almost 2 hours! The inn keepers so incredibly welcoming! Vicky even gave me a hug on the way out, they were just great! We totally recommend this place and we will be coming back for sure! Again, that breakfast was AMAZING!
After living in Asheville a few years, I wanted to come back and stay in my old neighborhood. This little cottage is tucked away in a very pretty area of Asheville with many trees. Very close to downtown and not far from the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway. The breakfasts were healthy, yummy and perfect--not too heavy. Delicious fruit and breads each morning and then an egg dish. She even lets you know what she's going to make in case you may not want one of the ingredients. I cannot convey enough how cozy and comfortable the bed was. We were in the Mediterranian room. Every detail was thought of. The whole place was very clean and well cared for. I have been to a few b&bs across the country and so many are frilly and formal--not really my thing. You won't find any lace doilies here! I would love to stay here again.

While a nice breakfast is served, my room was too hot to have a good night's sleep so I ended up with 2 nights of very little sleep. "Central air" is advertised but if you are in the upstairs bedrooms, it is very, very warm. The owners provide a fan, but I had to have it on high and blowing right on me just to get some relief and that still wasn't enough. I took an extra shower to try and cool off before I went to bed. Unless I can be assured that I will have a room with air conditioning, I won't stay there again. Room is sparsely furnished; no TV in room.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] We are surprised by the guests comments as we have been a very full B&B through this long and very hot Summer, and we ask our guests each morning how they slept. I remember asking you all. Your comments was that you were fine. Each night we check the weather and if the temperature drops enough in the night, we suggest leaving the windows open as it's more comfortable than running the air conditioner. That has been the case. I also know each person has different comfort levels based on their age, weight, and many other things. It has been a very hot Summer. Please contact us for a complementary night's stay.

Only complaint, breakfast only 8:30-9:30 and no coffee ready before then! Food was great, but need coffee earlier!
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] We work hard to accommodate the needs of our guests, providing healthy food for folks with celiacs disease, diabetes, chemical sensitivities, those who prefer a vegan diet, and always vegetarian. So we're pretty busy in the kitchen in the AM, and our 8:30-9:30 breakfast slot seems to be perfect for almost everyone. We do have a few people over the year that want coffee as soon as they wake up, and we do our best. But you must admit - Organic Fair Trade Shade Grown Ethiopian coffee is worth the wait! I've got a pot on now. It'll be ready in 5 minutes!
We really enjoyed our stay at Asheville Green Cottage. We visited Asheville for our first time to celebrate our anniversary. It was in a nice quiet neighborhood and very close to Vanderbilt mansion and downtown. We loved the healthy morning breakfast and especially conversations with the owners and fellow guests during breakfast. The bed was more comfortable than my own.
Vicki, who runs this place, is a teacher for US Green Building Council and this place is actually chemical free! Plus comfy. And good food. If this were a chain, I'd stay nowhere else wherever I went.
My fiance and I stayed with Vicki and Neeraj just after Labor Day, and we loved it. The setting and house are beautiful. It's quiet and tucked away, but just minutes from downtown Asheville and Biltmore Village. We stayed in the Mediterranean room and the bed was amazing. The room was cozy, and not cluttered and frumpy like most B&B's. And I can't forget-- breakfast was delicious! Everything was beyond reproach, including the fruit, coffee, home-baked breads and muffins and the egg dish. The innkeepers are helpful and available but not overbearing in the least. I can't recommend Asheville enough, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else but the Asheville Green Cottage. I can't wait to go back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Green Cottage B&B. The decor is spare and elegant, our room was clean and comfortable, our hosts were friendly, interesting and helpful and the breakfasts were healthy and delicious. We hope to return!
As a business executive, I have been traveling to the Asheville area for 9 years on a regular basis. Although I have stayed in many nice places, this eco-friendly cottage B & B has it all! Artfully decorated rooms (with the most wonderful organic cotton bath towels & bed linens!), comfortable & luxurious common areas, wonderful little library, cleanliness, safe & quiet neighborhood within a short drive to the downtown or Biltmore Village, delicious breakfast (best coffee I've had at a B & B), and perfectly wonderful hosts. I look forward to my next business trip! ;-)
It was so much more pleasant to stay at Asheville Green Cottages than to stay in an overpriced hotel! Vicki and Naeraj were wonderful. Actually, we had the "run of the house" since our hosts were departing for their own holiday family visiting when we arrived but they made sure we were well taken care of before they left and made sure we had everything we needed when they returned. (The reason why "Dining" is only a "3" above is that we didn't experience the "breakfast" part of the bed&breakfast but we were having breakfast at our son's house anyway). The rooms were all comfortable with interesting decor. The beds were the most comfortable we've ever experienced. The common area living and dining rooms meant that we could all be together and enjoy our evenings. The location was great, too. It is tucked away on a hill in a neighborhood but right off U.S. 25 and minutes from Downtown Asheville (very close to the Biltmore, too, but we like Downtown and West Asheville).
Though we arrived late, the key was waiting for us at the door with a nice note and the house was very nice and very clean! The house was nicely decorated and a mini-fridge was provided for the guests, which was very helpful! Our room (Zen Garden room) was simple, but wonderful. Just what we needed! Great bed, amazing pillows and a clean bathroom! In the morning, a delicious breakfast was served. I would most definitely stay here again. Love the "green" furnishings and lifestyle.
The good: It's "green," the owners are very nice and accommodating, breakfast was good, it's real close to Biltmore (and not too far from Asheville's great downtown), price is reasonable. Comfortable beds.
The bad: It's not romantic (I went with my wife for a romantic getaway and to see Biltmore...we made the best of it, but were disappointed based on previous B&B), the B&B is not secluded at all. The pictures make it seem more wooded and secluded than it is. The rooms, while nice and clean, are fairly plain with a few themed decorations. The upstairs rooms (Africa and India) are larger than the downstairs rooms.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] As any innkeeper, we are unhappy that we did not meet all your expectations. But we must disagree with comments about our B&B. We actually pride ourselves in featuring a more "zen" decor than is typically found in more pricey bed and breakfasts. At $95-135 per night we feel we offer a lovely, healthy experience with the greenest, most comfortable beds money can buy.
