"wonderful B&B, great food, great owner"

"Last night my husband and I spent the night at The Belmont Inn. This Bed and Breakfast is what every B&B should strive to be. First, it is a beautiful old house with lovely architecture, tasteful décor, a wonderful porch on a quiet street, and a beautiful garden. There is also parking in the back, making traveling easier. Second, Anita, the owner is a warm, interesting person with just the right balance of helpfulness without being intrusive. She has thought of all the comforts one might want in traveling and graciously makes them available to you. Hot water for tea was available when we arrived with delicious almond, buttery cookies that were clearly homemade and not overly sweet. Anita is a gourmet cook who prepares delicious food without the use of heavy salt, fat and sugar. As a result, one leaves the breakfast table completely satisfied with the delicious food, the pleasure of a visually beautiful meal and without a stuffed, sluggish feeling. I wish I had taken a picture of the breakfast we had – one of the prettiest and best tasting meals we had during our two week trip in Maine. The meal included a selection of teas or coffee, what tasted like fresh orange juice mixed with a cranberry/pomegranate juice, a baked Maine apple cooked with nuts and raisins, eggs baked in a prosciutto shell, a few blue corn chips with tomato/pepper relish, fresh corn lightly cooked with red and yellow peppers. We were satisfied and ready to face another day traveling. Anita also sells a collection of Maine products – the specialty smoked salt is outstanding! This is a B&B we’ll enjoy going to again."
