We stayed in the Covill Suite. It's was incredible! The bed was so comfortable, the jacquzzi was outstanding, and it was very intimate. The home was beautiful and inviting. With an incredible winery so close and great places to eat, this is a must visit.
Very inviting, relaxing and comfortable! Polly and her staff were outstanding at making us feel at home! The breakfast was delicious! Will recommend to everyone, and be back again!
Choice of nearby restaurants is somewhat limited in quantity & quality, but the breakfasts served at the Quill and Quilt are certainly acceptable & hearty. Very clean, comfortable, quaint but with modern amenities such as flat screen TV, free DVDs and hot tubs in the rooms. On-site spa is wonderful.
Just returned from our third stay with Quill and Quilt and it just keeps getting better. Our first stay was in cozy Ruthies Room. The room is light, airy and the perfect space for a cold winters retreat. Our second stay was July in The Writers Loft. This trip we stayed in The Colville Suite, so far our favorite room. Originally we wanted to x-country ski the Cannon River Trail, but trail conditions weren't the best so we brought our ice skates and spent some of the sunny afternoon on the outdoor rink next to the municipal pool. It's only a few blocks from the Q&Q. Each trip included a stop at the Cannon River Winery (2 blocks away). We’ve eaten at the Mill Street Tavern (satisfactory experiences) across from the winery and decided to check out the pub food at Chugger's...only a couple blocks further up. The burgers are tasty and filling but average pub food, nothing special. Maybe a trip to Northfield next time. Also, there is a microwave and small fridge in the second floor common area at Q&Q for leftovers or a bottle of wine.Polly is now running things and Q&Q couldn't be in better hands! The deli in town closed abruptly and that has the b&b staff scrambling for alternatives for weekday morning breakfasts (used to be a voucher for the deli). To our delight, Cynthia and Polly were trying new breakfast foods and service options and included us in some of their tastings - breakfast on Friday morning was brought to our room - nice. One of the new breakfast sausages was a mild jalapeno chicken sausage. My wife has an intense aversion for cilantro and was able to taste it immediately (I didn't even notice). The next morning Polly went out of her way to be sure the Fiesta Soufflé for my wife didn't have any cilantro. WOW - talk about above and beyond! I could go on even longer, but explore for yourself. For a simple unhurried stay in a beautifully restored Victorian home away from the bustling city, treat yourself to Cannon Falls and Quill and Quilt. We'll be back. :-)
We were impressed with our stay. Everything was terrific, from the spacious room (Colvill Room, the largest), to the freshly baked cookies, to the conversation of the guests. Our room was clean, with extras such as candles (battery operated) by the two-person Jacuzzi, and chocolates on the nightstand. The "little things" were attended to with care. The location is close to the Twin Cities, yet feels much farther away. The time in the Cannon Falls Winery was fun with live music and wine tasting, to an excellent dinner at the Mill Street Tavern. Excellent place to stay.
My husband and I loved our stay at the Quill and Quilt. The house is beautiful, the rooms were very comfortable and cozy (it was below 0 on our 2nd night there), the staff was very friendly, breakfast was wonderful. The town is fun and everything is within walking distance. We can't wait to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the trails. And I agree with a previous review, you have to stay more than one night to really appreciate everything.
Our stay at the Quill and Quilt was excellent - very high quality. Everything was as promised and the breakfast was delightful! I would definitely stay here again.
This was our third trip back to the Quill and Quilt. We enjoyed our stay immensely. We stayed in the Quilters Haven. It is a wonderful, cozy suite on the 3rd floor. The food and service was outstanding!
My fiancé and I have visited many B&B's. The Quill and Quilt has been our favorite thus far. We stayed inthe Colvill Suite which was HUGE, had its own balcony, gas fireplace, and jacuzzi. The hosts were wonderful and accommodating. We spent two nights there, which I highly recommend in order to truly enjoy the room.
Cannon Falls was like taking a peaceful step back in time in its simplicity and friendliness. The Cannon River Winery (my favorite!) is within walking distance of the Quill and Quilt, as is the Mill Street Tavern, where we enjoyed dinner one of the evenings. We cannot wait to return!
My husband and I just wanted to get away for the weekend, so the Quill and Quilt was perfect as it was less than an hour away. We stayed in the Writer's Loft and fell in LOVE with the giant shower with two shower heads. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The innkeepers were very friendly, and told us where we could go for a nice dinner. There is a cool winery, an antique shop, and excellent fabric store within walking distance, so we both found things to do. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise as the other guests were very nice, and the food was great! We'll be back soon - probably with our bikes as we saw the trail is right in the back yard. Thanks for the hospitality!
We arrived at the Quill and Quilt on a chilly Saturday evening. Once greeted by our host and some warm cookies we were feeling better already. Our room, the Covill Suite, was more than spacious and very cozy with the fireplace. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Didn't hear another guest in the full house until the delicious breakfast Sunday morning. All organic/farm raised food, very polite servers and great company. Thank you for having us - we hope to come again.
My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing weekend getaway. The breakfast menu was wonderful with many organic foods from local merchants. We enjoyed the quiet and restful atmosphere while sitting in front of the fireplace reading or talking to the other guests. The massage was fabulous and set the tone for the rest of the day. We enjoyed the Wine tasting at the local winery just a few blocks away and the stroll on the great trails by the falls. The room was very cozy with its own fireplace and beds were very comfortable. Another highlight was the interesting conversations we had with the owner. We were very pleased with our stay and look forward to going back.
My boyfriend and I just wanted to get away for a little weekend vacation and I am so happy we found Quill and Quilt. The room was absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed just relaxing in the Jacuzzi or reading by the fireplace. The breakfast was excellent and everyone really friendly. We went to the Cannon River Winery for a tasting and they had a live band playing-it was a great way to spend the afternoon. Matt was a fantastic host and we are looking forward to another visit soon!
We stayed for our anniversary weekend and were delighted with all aspects of our visit. We were warmly welcomed by innkeeper Matt to a beautifully preserved, historic home in a nice part of town. We stayed in the Colvill Suite. Lots of comfortable space. Great bed and furnishings. Our host, Matt, ensured that our experience was memorable and served us with great care. Excellent front porch with a swing. The weather has been so gorgeous that we brought our bikes and had a nice fall colors tour along the Cannon Trail. This is a very special place and no "Super 8". We didn't want to leave and will definitely stay again. Thanks Matt!!

We recently stayed at the Quill & Quilt and had a lovely time. The room was beautiful and the house was well-kept. We were surprised to find scrumptious truffles waiting in our room (which we did not have to pay extra for like at some places). We ordered massages and the spa director came in at 6:30 in the evening to give them. We had robes waiting in our room to wear down to the spa room that is part of the home. The massage was excellent! The only complaint is that the "rulebook" for the house read a little rude at times, (telling guests not to forget anything or they would be charged $15 to ship it to them, telling guests not to go in other rooms and take soap, etc.) and we stayed during the week so did not get a breakfast prepared at the home. We were instead given a certificate for breakfast at the Market Deli in town. However, our disappointment changed after we had our meal at the deli. We chose quiche lorraine, veggie fritatta, raspberry muffins, blueberry scones, coffee and tea and had an A+ breakfast al fresco. Great experience!
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we are glad you had a nice time! We do have a book with information about the area, contained within that book is a rules page. Guests have gone in the other rooms and taken products, soap, truffles, and other things. One guest forgot his phone charger and insisted we overnight it to him, and did not offer to pay for the cost of that. However, most people including the folks that wrote this review don’t do those things, but they do read that page. Hence, it really has no effect in preventing such things, so we are going to take that out of the room information books.
Although I originally wasn't thrilled with the idea of going to a bed and breakfast just for a weekend getaway, I realize the minute we arrived that it was going to be a great weekend. We were kindly greeted by the innkeepers upon arrival, who were warm and friendly, despite the fact that we arrived almost a half hour late due to traffic. There were warm cookies ready and waiting for us in the entrance way. Matt and the two other women that checked us in (sorry, I'm not great with names), showed us around the main level, and gave us the history of the house. We had a great chat with them before being shown up to our room.
We stayed in the Colville Suite which is absolutely amazing. I had looked at the pictures of the suite available on their website, and the pictures didn't do the room justice; it was absolutely gorgeous! We ended up spending most of our time in the bathroom, as the jacuzzi was fantastic; as well as on the private balcony. It was paradise.
While out of our room, we were able to chat with the innkeepers, who were nothing but friendly. Once we were back up in our room, they did not disturb us. It was the perfect amount of interaction.
We went and ate at the Tavern for dinner, which had great food. The next morning, we had lunch at the deli (slept in past breakfast-oops!), which was AMAZING! All our food was fantastic. We would never have checked this place out had the Quill and Quilt not given us the breakfast certificate. Definitely beats breakfast at most bed and breakfasts.
Overall, it was a fantastic getaway. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Already excited to plan a second getaway there; I've been recommending this place to friends and family. Such a great establishment! Thank you, Quill and Quilt for a fabulous weekend!
We stayed here for our two year aniversary and it was FANTASTIC! The room, the home as well as the grounds were all in immaculate shape. The innkeepers were very hospitable and breakfast was amazing. It was truely a wonderful evening that we can't wait to repeat. Our only complaint was that we had only booked the room for one night instead of two! Thank you for such a wonderful experience and we will surely return. : )
My wife and I wanted to get out of the cities for a night in March. Luckily I stumbled upon this B&B. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the warm cookies set out for us, to the bath salts for our whirlpool tub, to the help-yourself hot cocao and tea, everything had a personal touch that made us feel comfortable. Speaking of comfortable, I don't think I've ever slept on a more comfortable bed. Matt was great introducing us to the place, and gave us a history of the B&B. He did an excellent job of remodeling this B&B with updated amenities, while still maintaining its antique charm. We stayed in the Colville Suite, which was very charming and large, but we also saw the Quilter's Haven and Writer's Loft, which were equally nice. Breakfast was great too! There's a winery and the Mill Street Tavern conveniently a block away. If your looking for a comfortable getaway just out of the city, or are even in the area for business, I highly recommend this place. We look forwarding to returning here.
We had a delightful stay at the Quill and Quilt - the Writer's Loft was a fantastic room - the big jetted tub and double shower were a very enjoyable way to have some warm hydrotherapy on a cold winter weekend. The "fire place" was sort of funny - not so great for atmosphere - but it did make the room toasty warm!
The in-house massage was one of the best I have ever had! Well worth the investment!
Cannon Falls is a Gem! The Cannon River Winery is fantastic and makes and serves some really special local wine. They also sell Frogtown Pottery - it's really beautiful and functional.
There were some really nice little details that made this place seem extra special - like the hand made soaps, bath salts and chocolates in the room. Breakfast was outstanding!
The Inn was charming and comfortable. The Innkeeper was pleasant, welcoming and helpful, but it was weird that he wasn't around to say goodbye when we left at checkout time.
Over-all we had an amazing weekend and will likely stay again. We left feeling rested and restored.
My hubby and I stayed at Q&Q on a cold Saturday night in January. Nothing could have been warmer than the cozy home, complete with fireplaces, jacuzzis and 24-7 tea and coffee. Did I also mention the warm cookies in the evening?
Matt made us feel at home with his tour, historical tidbits and true spirit poured into this labor of love. He made the most amazing breakfast and told us of future plans to use even more local produce.
Our room had a spacious and comfy king-sized bed complete with 2-person Jacuzzi whirlpool tub. We loved the mint chocolates in our room, the local aromatherapy soaps and bath salts and wonderful coffee.
We plan to return this summer so we can kayak or canoe, as well as bike in the warm summer air!
Wanted to get away for a one night anniversary trip close to home, found Quill and Quilt and it sounded nice from the website. It was certainly a great stay and we will hope to be back soon. The eggs benedict breakfast was awesome too.

Nice, roomy, clean and beautiful room with comfy bed. I loved having a fireplace and a huge bathroom with a hot tub and shower both. We were able to check in late due to a drive from the Cities, and it was no problem. We were given details about the house and town that were a nice touch and gave us ideas of things to do we didn't know about. Breakfast was multiple courses and VERY filling. We enjoyed talking with other guests after a cozy night alone. Thanks for an enjoyable stay!
This is a very nice inn in a quiet location. The room was furnished nicely and the in-room breakfast packed in a picnic basket was very good. We spent a restful night there in a comfortable bed.
