Hilltop Cabins and Motel

nice place, nice cabin, all the equipments for the kitchen, perfect stay!!!

We stayed here during a snowmobile trip. The cabins are wonderful with a great view. There was a small issue with the cabins but it was addressed and taken care of. Enjoyed staying there very much

My wife and I stayed at Hilltop cabins from 3-1 thru 3-6 for snowmobiling and the rooms are very clean and oganized. The stay was very enjoyable for both of us.

I have stayed at the Hilltop Cabins several times for snowmobiling. Great location and have never been disappointed. Good rates, clean, cozy.

We stayed in the Loon cabin and truly enjoyed our experience. The kitchen was well stocked, although we did have to pick up paper towels & dish soap. The bedrooms were cozy and the beds were very comfortable. The gas fireplace kicked out some great heat! The view of the bay, when we could see through the sideways blowing snow, was beautiful. We didn't really see the owners much more than checking in, but they were very nice and helpful. Overall, a great cabin to reside while staying in one of the best little towns in the UP!! (note ~ we did not experience any dining but this site made me rate it)

Room was small but we didn't really plan on staying in the room much anyway. Beds were uncomfortable but tolerable. Beautiful location.

We stayed one night(were touring in the Upper Penninsula) & loved our "pit stop" at Hilltop Cabins. Very comfortable,clean &cosy room(we were in the Wolf room)+ great sunset views from the bedroom. We are early risers & would loved to have had some coffee provided in our room, as the continental breakfast only starts at 8am. We will recommend this place to all our friends who visit this area.

Nice little cabin. Nothing spectacular, but clean and quiet which is just what we wanted. Breakfast was bread for toast, cereal and muffins. Coffee was provided. Again nothing spectacular but sufficient. One thing that was unsettling before we arrived was that I had tried to contact them via e-mail and phone to inquire about the reservation. I did not receive any communication. However all was as expected upon arrival.

Enjoyed the town and environs. Great area to visit. Good dining nearby. Very relaxing.

The Hilltop Motel & Cabins was a very nice overnight stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice. The heat felt great! Breakfast was adequate but peanut butter for the toast & knives would have made it perfect.

These were exactly what we had expected. Good rooms, great price and amazing view of Lake Superior! We will definitely be back and recommend this to many!

We will return and would definitely recommend to a friend. The views are fantastic and it is centrally located to all the places we wanted to see.

The staff at this great U.P. hideaway are always very pleasant. It is a clean, no frills option in a beautiful setting. Love the standalone cabins, especially the newer #2.

We found the motel room and service at Hilltop to be excellent, particularly given the remote location of the accomodations. Extra benefits we didn't expect but loved: Great view of Grand Marias harbor, beach nearby, beautiful grounds and landscaping, a front porch on our motel room, a gazebo and deck for relaxing and watching the view, a community room with a washer and dryer for guests as well as breakfast items and homeade plum cobbler from plums gathered on site, and a fire pit and play court. Last but not least, it was very quiet and we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the wind through the beautiful large cottonwoods on site. Jeanette was a great host!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Hilltop Motel in Grand Marais. The next time we are there, we would like to rent a cabin. It's clean, the owner is really friendly, and we only had to walk down the road to get to the beach. It's also a nice walk into town. We will definitely be back!

We were looking for a convenient place to stay to do an overnight trip to grand marais. We were only able to stay one night but it worked out great being able to feed the baby and hand out in our private cabin. It was very relaxing.

Place was okay, Would have liked area to hang clothes and shelves to put things on. We only scheduled one night and were satisfied. Breakfast items provided aren't even worth mentioning but then it falls in line with what is provided in a lot of places.

The cabins are clean and comfortable and everything we needed was provide, ie towels, dishes, etc. However the location is very remote, so if you want to see the local sights be prepared that you will have to drive at least 45 minutes.

This is a getaway place that has only gotten better over the years we've stayed there. Jeanette, the owner, goes out of her way to be helpful and puts alot of money back into her business for her customers benefit. The cabins are beautifully done and very clean. The motel rooms are roomy and very clean too. We love the kitchenettes but the rooms all have a frige and coffeepot too. The property has a nice deck that has views of Grand Marais, a firepit area and now also has a gazebo to relax in ! It is a nice walk to the beach area or to town. If you must contact civilization, WiFi is available too. You won't be disappointed if you chose to stay here ! S & M

We had a comfortable overnight stay in one of the motel rooms. Left too early in the morning to take advantage of the breakfast. Beautiful sunset. The cabins looked very nice and the people staying in them were having a great time.

When compared with other opinions in the UP, this place is a steal. Great, fantastic beaches in Grand Marais. Few suitable dining options, though.

We had a group of us and stayed in cabins 1 & 3 & motel 14. We were very happy with all of them. Cabin #1 was just beautiful...the view of the lake off the deck was spectacular, the kids loved the spiral stairs and the loft, and the basketball court that was close by. We were very pleased with Hilltop Cabins overall and would recommend it. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Grand Marais.

We booked #14, Gone Fishin', for one night in Grand Marais. The room was rustic with no frills, but clean and a very good value for the price. The Embassy Suites it ain't, but if that's what you're looking for, Grand Marais probably shouldn't be your destination. The view over the harbor and town is wonderful. It was quiet, with no glaring lights to disturb our sleep. Hilltop Cabins is a bit under a mile from town. A perfect walk to watch the sunset and to have breakfast in the morning. Jeanette was a pleasant hostess and we will most certainly be staying again on our next visit.
