Hampton Terrace

The innkeeper was very helpful and flexible. The breakfast was delicious, a yummy French toast, varied fresh fruit and outstanding coffee. We had lunch at a restaurant that was suggested to us and were very happy with it. We would definitely come back again.

The room was beautiful. Our only complaint is that we were woken by a trash truck right outside our window at 5:45 a.m. It was extremely loud, including shouting by the driver. We thought a loveseat might have been nice, rather than two widely-spaced chairs. One strange thing did happen: at one point the shade on the large window went up on its own (wound too tightly?), and later the window closed itself!! Mmmm. BUT! the bed was very comfortable, the room was perfect in every other way, the property is lovely, and we loved that we could walk to Shakespeare & Co., and to shops and restaurants.

When we started coming to the Berkshires we tried other B&B’s but once we found Stan and the Hampton Terrace Inn we now come back to them every year. The two main reasons are: one because of the location. You can walk to everything, Shops, Dinning, Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company, and more. If you want to get into your car you are close to all of the Berkshires attractions. The second reason is Stan and his wife Susan. They are great and have a wealth of knowledge of the local area. Plus they just nice people…. What more could you ask for! (OK the breakfast is scrumptious too)

What a find Hampton Terrace is! From the time you walk in and are greeted by Stan, the innkeeper, and the winding staircase, you feel a sense of WOW. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the inn, and got to visit many of the rooms. They're all fabulous. The Carriage House King Suites have everything you might want - whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, TVs with DVDs and tons of room. The inn rooms have really captured the history of the building with built-ins found even in the bathrooms. I stayed in room #1, and loved it. The woodburning fireplace added such an ambiance after a long day. Stan, the innkeeper and breakfast cook introduced me to grits. They were really good. There is a fabulous bar in the parlor and Stan gives away gift certificates to the local wine store to people who stay two or more nights, so you can pick out a favorite bottle of wine and then enjoy it at the bar. What a cool idea that is. I didn't get a chance to see the pool uncovered (visited in winter), but the setting is wonderful. I hope to come back when I can see the pool. I highly recommend Hampton Terrace.
