A Historic Stay
su giugno 07, 2015
My husband and I enjoyed our stay over Memorial Day weekend at this charming historic inn.. We were welcomed with freshly made brownies. The innkeeper made several dinner suggestions, which were in easy walking distance. The next morning we ate breakfast on the porch looking down the main street of Old Orchard Beach. We will return. We recommend this inn.
Nice place, good location

We were only in the area for one night, but the Old Orchard Beach Inn was really lovely. the rooms and the inn generally have a historic feel without seeming dated. we have stayed in other B&Bs before where the rooms were awkwardly put together (one had a shower 2 feet from the bed, outside the bathroom...) but there was nothing like that here. The bathroom in the room was actually slightly bigger than I was expecting. the room had central air which was nice and the room was generally pretty cozy. The staff was very helpful in giving us directions down to the pier, which is about a 5 minute walk at most from the hotel, and recommendations for dinner. The breakfast the next morning was really good with fruit salad, and some baked goods that at least looked homemade in addition to the usually cereal. Overall I was really pleased with the Inn and wouldn't hesitate to go back if I'm ever in the area.

This is a beautiful B & B at a good location if traveling, or visiting Orchard Beach. It's stately, yet comfortable and has a wonderful history. I was charmed!
Perfect location, wonderful place, good people and scones

My fiance and i needed a weekend away from our 1 year old where we could just relax. The B&B seemed like a pleasant idea and it was at the begining of the tourist season so i knew it wouldn't be packed. SHE LOVED IT. Keep point, both good and bad. BEACH IS AND DOWNTOWN IS A SHORT WALK. Thin walls in old houses means you hear everyone near by, we had kinds near us but we didn't mind. The staff was pleasant and welcoming and the blueberry scones were amazing. The rooms were clean and though they were old they were no horse hair plaster so no allergy's. Very comfortable place to stay.
A Refined Gem

This was our second stay at the Old Orchard Beach Inn and, yet again, we wished it could have been for longer as even one night is enough to leave one feeling relaxed. There was a friendly welcome and information about the best route to a restaurant we had booked. Our room was charming, spotless and the bed very comfortable, Breakfast was excellent with a good range or cereals, breads, fruit, yoghurts etc and delicious, warm scones. We hope for a longer stay next time.

It was neat to stay in such an old Inn, with the history it holds. Imagine what has taken place over the 250 + years it's been running. However, in Room 2B (the end of the hall on the lower level) the mattress was too hard and the heating system too loud. The Continental breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options and all very tasty. The hostess was pleasant and the decor and architecture were very interesting. My wife and I will stay there again, but hope the mattresses and heating system will be updated.
Nice Atmosphere in a Good Location

We stayed here for 2 nights in October a few weeks before the Inn was due to close for the season. The staff are very welcoming. Because the Inn was only hosting 3 couples, they upgraded our room to a larger one. Very nice decor - although in some places the wallpaper is coming away from the wall and some of the seams are opening. Our room was on the first floor. Very convenient, but there is one drawback to being on the first floor. Every time the people in the room above us used water, there was the loud sound of a waterfall as the water cascaded through the drainpipes in the ceiling and wall. Doesn't happen often, but it's surprising when it does. The other slight annoyance was how very loud the heater was when the thermostat called for heat. This is likely not a problem in the summer, but cold evenings get so noisy that you can't hear the TV while the heat is on.
On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Breakfasts were nicely done. Cereal, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, granola, home made scones, home made quick breads, juices, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, tea and coffee. One quirk, here - no decaf coffee? That was surprising, because so many folks that do B&B's can't have caffeine.
As is the case at almost any B&B, the guests are always interesting. The other couples were from Toronto and England.
Would we stay here again? Probably.
