I don't think I can express in words how much this place exceeded our expectations. We love the area and convenience of the location. The breakfast was BY FAR better than anything we have ever had at any other BNB we've stayed at in New Orleans. The hospitality was TOP NOTCH! Next time we head to the Big Easy, this will be our first choice in places to stay.
William and Michael - Birmingham, AL
We had a wonderful stay! Leigh and Jim are very gracious hosts and they share their love and knowledge of New Orleans. The breakfasts were the perfect start to each day! The Inn is within walking distance to the French Quarter! And it was a treat to walk back along Frenchmen Street at night and listen to all of the music! We will stay with Leigh and Jim again the next time we visit!!!
The one main drawback is the room didn't have it's own thermostat to cool the warm room which made it tough to sleep.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] I am very sorry that this guest found it hard to sleep because of the temperature in their room. Unfortunately in a 150 year old historic home it is not possible to put in individual heating/cooling units like you might find in a hotel or motel. Jim and I however do live on premises and are available to tweak the temperature if a guest request us to do so.
We were sad, when we had to leave. We felt like, we were staying with friends and not at a B&B. Leigh and Jim made us great breakfasts, there was always coffee there, and insider tips on where to go for food and great clubs.
We loved Zeke (white Lab), who was always on hand for being pet.We miss him.
It was a perfect stay and when we come back, we will only stay at Elysian Fields Inn.

Very nice stay with Lee and Jim, would recommend definitely. My stay in New Orleans was very enjoyable I would stay there again.

My mom and I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast, and as a hospitality major with a focus in travel and tourism, I've always wanted to experience something more personal than a corporate hotel. I had an amazing time. I wish we could have stayed for longer! This is definitely a place I will recommend and hopefully stay at again if I'm in NOLA.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Elysian Fields. It's within walking distance of amazing food and music in the French Quarter and along Frenchmen Street but far enough from all the touristy spots to avoid the hordes of tourists. Jim and Leigh are exceptional hosts. I would highly recommend.
Nick B.
The owners are great and so is Zeke. :) It is an older home, so there is some moisture in the air. It's only an issue if you have allergies. It was quiet and close enough to walk wherever you need to go.
One of the top highlights of our trip to New Orleans!
This Bed and Breakfast is excellent! Leigh and Jim and most gracious hosts and the B&B is very comfortable and full of character! The breakfasts were both delicious and plentiful! My wife enjoyed the Jacuzi tub in our room every night with the supplied bath salts, a very nice touch. We will definately be staying here agin when we retun to New Orleans.
This Inn is ran by a nice and friendly couple with whom you can have great conversations during a tasty, home made breakfast.
Rooms are comfortable and ample. In winter it might get a bit chilly due to an antiquated heating system but this seems to be a common issue down there unless you check in to the 5-stars at canal Street.
If you are looking for a good time in N.O. without the hassle of having to sleep in the noisy and busy environment of Fench quarter hostels, I highy recommend Elysian Fields Inn. 5 minutes to Frenchman Street, 15 to Burbon, and 25 min to Canal. I found this part of Elysian Fields quite safe to walk while dark though you should always take appropriate precaution wherever you stay.
Seriously consider to come back there if I return to this great and laid-back city.
Stay at Elysian Fields Inn - New Orleans in March 2013
This was my second stay (business trip) at Elysian Fields Inn. I originally stayed here several years ago as an alternative to staying in a hotel. My second business trip I looked first to see if any rooms were available at Elysian Fields Inn before looking at other venues because of the positive experiences I experienced during my previous stay.
The accomodations are very nice and very clean. The owners (Leigh and Jim) make sure that the room is ready in time for your arrival. They greet you at the door and make sure that everything is in order for you.
Every morning they provide a great breakfast.
I recommend Elysian Fields Inn to anyone that wants to stay in and visit New Orleans.
Nice house and clean. At first neighborhood seem questionable, but we felt secure after awhile. Leigh is great and very warm. Jim is nice and a bit hasty....but informative. would recommend to others....
Jim and Leigh were great hosts. Zeke the dog was also great. Everything was very clean, we slept very well in the bed! Breakfast was excellent. Frenchman street was an easy walk a few blocks away. Safe even at night. We would and will stay there again!!
The Elysian Fields Inn is just a 5-10 minute walk from the French Quarter and Bourbon Street which means when you return to sleep you enjoy a nice quite evening and a delicious breakfast prepared by the lady of the house. The owners go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Inn Owners Jim and Lee take pride in their inn with tastefully New Orleans style decor. They strived to make our stay in New Orleans enjoyable with suggestions of places to visit. We would definitely stay here again.
My boyfriend and I have stayed here during Mardi Gras for the last two years, and we intend on coming back every year! Leigh and Jim are the nicest, warmest, most gracious hosts you could ask for. The building, rooms, and facilities are top notch, but they are the big reason we keep coming back! The location is also fabulous - easy walking distance to Frenchman St. and into the Quarter on one side, and the culturally rich neighborhoods of Marigny and the Bywater on the other side. This place is flawless.
A wonderful surprise. The suite is very comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The innkeepers are a delight. Warm, available when needed but never intrusive. Weekend breakfast a treat- weekday not so much. Would definitely stay at the inn again
We arrived exhausted, bleary-eyed, and weighed-down with too much luggage (note to self for next time!), but were met at the entrance by our friendly and energetic hosts, Jim and Leigh. They offered us a warm welcome, flexible (early) check-in, a great little map of the neighborhood, and loaded us up with lots of tips on suggested eateries, walks, clubs, sights, and local events. They offer a wonderful, hearty breakfast and we enjoyed our conversations with them, as well as their other guests. They had a nice breakfast area, as well as comfortable commons/living room stocked with a computer-printer, comfy couch and chairs, and a sweet little library of Louisiana travel guides-art-foodie literati. We loved everything about this inn: the neighborhood, free parking, beautiful building, art, gorgeous flooring and decor. Overall, a great place to come back to after a busy day of fun! Thank you J & L!
First stay in a b&b. room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Only issues I had was small child being allowed to play in hallway at 7 am. Also the door had cracks in it you could literally see in the room from the outside. Would stay again but request a downstairs room.
We stayed at Elysian Fields Inn over the New Year holiday. It was a perfect location, walking distance to so much but not in the middle of the hubbub. Quiet, cozy, relaxed, clean and friendly were our impressions. Our hosts, Leigh and Jim were like old friends, offering all the info you might need, but also fun to visit with and get to know. Lots of knowledge about the area and what to do. We had a wonderful stay and will be back!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Elysian Field Inn immensely. Leigh and Jim were very personable and cooked delicious hot breakfasts. The inn is lovely and very convenient to the French Quarter. We will definitely stay there again, the next time we visit NOLA.
Great spot, great location! However a few things could be improved. First, our room had a DVD player that did not open/work and a CD player that did not have the power cord! If you're going to have these amenities- they should be functional. Second, the fixtures in the bathroom could have had a better fit and finish. Lastly, I thought the bedding/linens should be upgraded. Otherwise, the hosts were really great and the breakfast was awesome! Really would stay here again but I think those improvements would go a long way to making this a really popular place to stay!
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Thanks to our guests for the kind words…for the issues they had I do apologize. If our guests do not alert us to problems in the rooms we do not know to address them. Over the New Year Holiday the guests in that room did alert us to the broken DVD player. It was replaced the next day.
Why someone took the ac adaptor to the radio/cd player I will never know but it will be replace this week now that I know it is missing.
I am not sure what the issue in the bathroom was to these guests; the house is 150 years old…sometimes things do not line up but all the fixtures in the bath are relatively new (10 years old) and very clean.
All the rooms in the Inn were upgraded this year with new paint, new rugs and art. Bed Spreads and Curtains were replaced as needed. Our bed linens are professionally laundered and ironed. While they are not 600 count Egyptian cotton they are soft, clean and comfortable. But, what makes me the most proud of my linens is that they are laundered in an ARC (for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities) sheltered work place by very special people!
The Inn is not a new building, it has a 150 year old history…if you are looking for plumb walls and a modern esthetic this is not the place! But, if you are looking for comfortable, clean with modern conveniences and a sense of history please stay with us!
Great old house in a hip and up-and-coming district of NOLA (the Marigny). The room was nice (a bit run-down though) and breakfast was tasty. The proprietors (Jim and Leigh) were awesome and super helpful! Also, Zeke, their giant dog is freakin' awesome!
I was visiting family and they recommended Elysian Fields to me. Jim and Leigh were warmly accomodating, the room was well appointed and breakfast was always just right. It's well-located to walk to many points of interest and feels very safe.
I went to NOLA on business and found my stay at Elysian Fields Inn very pleasant and accommodating. My mornings started early and Jim always provided me breakfast to start my day off right. I felt safe in the neighborhood. It was within walking distance to the French Quarter. However, as with every city, you must always be on your guard if walking alone at night. My room was very clean with no signs of unwanted bed critters. The bathroom was extra clean. I felt safe taking a shower without shower shoes. I will definitely stay there again.
Elysian Fields Inn is a great B&B! Leigh, Jim, and their dog Zeke offer the best hospitality. Very nice location close to everything. Safe to walk from the B&B to Frenchmen St. and French Quarter. The rooms are lovely, comfortable beds, superb breakfasts, and the owners are so warm and helpful to everybody. We will come back again and will tell our friends about Elysian Fields Inn. Thank you Jim and Leigh for making our 1st stay in New Orleans so pleasant!
I almost don't want to tell you how perfect this place is because I want to be able to get reservations when I need them. However, they're so great there, they deserve accolades.
The owners and home were wonderful. We did not sleep very well because it was quite warm, but enjoyed the breakfast and nearby attractions.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] I am sorry that our guests did not have a comfortable night. The Inn has central air and heat, but not knowing when our guests stayed with us I not sure which was the problem. But, Jim and I do live on the premises and we encourage our guests to let us know when there is a problem so we can address it. It is never too late at night to pick up the phone and let us know if you are uncomfortable we can always turn up the AC or turn down the heat. Of course we would rather have it right the first time but if we don't we would like to know so we can fix it! Our guest’s comfort is our business
We recently spent 2 wonderful days at Eltsian Fields Inn. The room was worderful, the food was excellent and the staff was so friendly and helpful. They guided us around the city and their recommendations for food and places to visit were outstanding. The inn is a close walk to the French Quartewr and Burboun St.
We will not stay anywhere else when visiting New Orleans. The price was great and we felt more comfortable than in any hotel we could have picked.
Stay here and your visit to New Orleans will be better for it.
My wife and I stayed at Elysian Fields for 6 nights over Thanksgiving week. We were very happy with all aspects of our stay. We are not Bourbon Street type people and were delighted to be at a location adjacent to the music clubs on Frenchman Street. Elysian Fields is an easy walk to the French Quarter, to the Treme' neighborhood and the Marigny district. Highly recommend this place.
Elysian Fields Inn was perfect for our needs. The owners were very nice, available & informative. Everything was clean & well provided. Breakfast was yummy. We stayed in the french quarter during the week for a conference, then moved to the inn for the weekend. It was an easy & safe walk to the frenchmen st. clubs, and just a few blocks further to the french market & the riverfront streetcar. A $3 day pass will get you all over from there. It is a longer, but doable walk to bourbon st clubs & royal st shopping from the inn.
It was a perfect start to our vacation with great people in a great location. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and will recommend it to my friends.
This was our second visit to this property and we enjoyed it just as much as we did our first visit. The rooms are nicely furnished and very clean with all of the amenities associated with a nice hotel. Breakfast was delicious and served hot and fresh. This is a great location if you are going to the jazz clubs on Frenchman Street and not too far from the French Market and Armstrong Park. Its far enough away from the French Quarter to be quiet, but you can still walk if it suits you. Jim and Leigh are a wealth of information on where to go and what to see if you are a first time visitor. This might not be the place to stay if you have mobility issues since there is a set of stairs to climb to get in the front door and a steep set to the second story.
Innkeepers were very informative and helped with our activities and dining out. Appreciated the extra step of them even making our dinner reservations for us.
We had a wonderful time at the Elysian Fields Inn, and we absolutely plan on staying there on our next trip to New Orleans. Leigh and Jim were terrific hosts. Highly recommended. — R. Jones
Excellent treatment and value. Leigh and Jim are great hosts! Highly recommended. Best B& B experience we have had in New Orleans (compared to 5 others).
Great stay at Elysian Fields for the Essence Festival
I stayed at Elysian Fields after coming to New Orleans for the Essence Festival and I had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Leigh and Jim were very kind, knowledgeable and I felt at home talking to them.
The room was comfortable (in terms of the bed, the temperature and space) as was the bathroom (nice shower with hot water, fresh towels and Aveda products). Additionally, there were coffee, pastries and breakfast every morning (and in my experience, made on order as opposed to sitting out cold).
While not in the French Quarter, Elysian fields was in walking distance to the French Quarter and a number of jazz lounges/bars that played live music. I felt very safe walking through the neighborhood. Also, while the Essence Fest was held in the Superdome, a friend and I were able to catch a cab there and it was $5-$7 per person each way (including tip) - much cheaper than the cost of renting a car and paying for gas + parking or having to deal with the headache of looking for street parking during a crowded festival. Buses and streetcars are available too and there is a bus stop that is two blocks away that can take you directly to the French Quarter and Canal Street if you prefer not to walk.
All in all, I had a great time and would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend Elysian Fields, especially as an alternative to the super pricey hotels that offer accommodations during festivals/other major events.
Let me just start off by saying I'm not a B&B kind of dude, but, I think I've been converted. We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Elysian Fields Inn. The location is just outside the French Quater (5 minute stroll down by foot) in a very easy in-and-out area with food and entertainment just around the corner on Frenchmen St. Leigh and Jim are wonderful hosts who greet you like old friends welcoming you in to their home. Their breakfast offering were delicious and their recommendatons for dining out and entertainment were spot on. This was my girlfriends first ever trip to New Orleans and it was one she will always remember for the warmth and graciousness Leigh and Jim provided. We hope to be guests in their beautiful home many more times in the future.
Leigh & Jim were gracious and helpful hosts. They create a comfotable atmosphere and have many recommendations dependent on your needs and interests. The room was veryclaen and the breakfast offerings were well executed
I've stayed at the Elysian Fields Inn several times, and it is always a terrific experience. Leigh and Jim are great hosts, and they always make my stay wonderful. The value is amazing, and the location can't be beat. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter, and you can get a streetcar or taxi to anywhere else in the city. The hotel shuttle stops there, and it's right next to the highway, so it's easy to get there. I recommend it to all of my friends going to New Orleans.
This was the first time I've stayed at the Elysian Fields Inn but it won't be the last. This is a wonderful B&B with a great location (easy walk to the French Quarter), great hosts, and comfortable rooms. I'm looking forward to my next visit to NOLA and staying at the Elysian Fields Inn.
The B & B is a treasure near interstate and sightseeing.Great place to stay. Helpful inn keepers. Walking distance to French Quarter. Loved meeting others over breakfast. Very comfortable and welcoming.
The inn was fine but nothing really special in comparison to other bed and breakfast inns we have stayed in over the years. The innkeepers gave us some good advice on activities and restaurants
My husband and I stayed with Lee and Jim during the second week of Jazz Fest, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The location was great -- we rode our bikes to and from the festival each day and then walked to dinner at night in the Quarter. I enjoyed having both a hot and a cold option for breakfasts, and the pastries from the bakery next door were delicious. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated in a modern and not stuffy way. The bathrooms were also stocked with Aveda toiletries (my favorite brand). We would definitely stay at Elysian Fields again!
We had the suite and overall we had a wonderful Stay!
The room and bathroom were clean. The common areas also! We had access to internet, a computer and a printer. The breakfast was excellent also!
Wonderful hosts and few blocks from the center of everything New Orleans is!
Thank you Leigh and Jim!
Francesca, Charles and little Tommaso
As always, it was a pleasure to stay with Leigh and Jim. They are the consummate hosts, the Inn is a haven for us every year. The rooms are clean and well appointed, beds comfortable as always and there is always a good breakfast and some cheer. Leigh and Jim always have great restaurants and music venues to recommend - they take their research seriously- and always have an interesting story to tell. This is the place to be in New Orleans. Perfect!
We had a wonderful stay...the room we were in was on the ground floor and was quiet as if we were in a separate building. Since we only saw one of the many rooms, I cannot comment but, based on ours I can say you will not be disappointed. The standards are high and the "vibe" is warm and inviting.
Leah and Jim are terrific inn-keepers.....welcoming, enthusiastic, fun, knowledgable and willing to help and to share their ideas about NOLA. This was our 10th trip to NOLA and our second stay at the inn. Rooms are comfortable; bathrooms are nice with Aveda bath products.
Dining and sitting area are comfortable for breakfast and for reading. Porches are nice, especially for winding down at end of a great day! Breakfast is simple and tasty. Location at edge of Marigny is perfect for the short stroll to Frenchmen St and the best music, and to the French Quarter. Leah and Jim work hard to assure a good time but they are not intrusive! We love the Inn and will return on our next visit. Cindy & Glen
We loved The Elysian Fields Inn. Our host and hostess were great people and so helpful. We attended the French Quarter Festival and the hints and suggestions as far as music and food were invaluable. The festival was within walking distance as well as the many clubs on Frenchmen Street. The breakfasts were excellent and far exceeded the continental breakfasts served at other inns.
The house was clean and welcoming when we got there and remained so throughout our stay. We loved our room and how close we were to town. I highly recommend this B&B!
Nice, cozy B&B. Dining area was pretty & cheerful. Breakfast could have been nicer for the price to stay at B&B. Excellent location for walking to the French Quarter & River front. Would definitely visit again.
Great location just outside french quarter. It was 3 blocks to Frenchman street where all the Jazz clubs are and a short walk from there to all the restaurants on Decatur or the bars on Bourbon Street.
The innkeepers were very nice and had suggestions for everything. The place was also VERY well kept up. We stayed in 204 and it was perfect. Had our own bathroom and everything. Very nice room, and quiet too.
We didn't spend too much time at the Inn because we were there to see New Orleans, but it has a very nice front and back porch, and living room, where it is nice to sit back and relax if you need to in the middle of the day.
Stay here. It was great.
Good location. Owners seemed to do the minimal. Felt cooly welcome, not any thing special. Room quite good. That made up for lack of warm southern hospitality.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] To this guest I apologize deeply. Hospitality is not only my job but my passion. To have even one guest leave the Inn feeling this way makes me very unhappy. Unfortunately sometimes people just don’t click with one another... perhaps that is what happened here.
Awesome owners, beautiful B&B, great neighborhood, close to the Quarter & right in the arts district! Can't wait to stay again!
The Elysian Fields Inn is a beautiful B&B that I can't wait to stay at again. It is literally 2 blocks from the quarter and only 1 block off of Frenchmen Street. The area is quiet and also quite beautiful. It is only a 5 block walk to the French Market and to the trolley which will take you throughout New Orleans. The owners are amazing and so are the breakfasts. They not only cook a wonderful meal to begin your morning but also stay and chat with you while you eat your breakfast. They also helped us out with anything that we needed. And the map that they gave us turned out to be the only one I used the entire time. I truly can not wait to see the owners again when I next visit New Orleans!
There was good communication with Elysian Fields Inn arranging our stay. Room was clean and well kept. Great bed in a big room with a much appreciated private bath. We didn't use the jacuzzi.... Quiet location in the rear of the upstairs. Good hosts full of local info and nice breakfast service. The inn is perfectly positioned for Frenchman st music, dining and access to the river side of the French Quarter. Safe and secure feelings coming and going.
Thanks for a wonderfull stay in New Orleans. It was a much more personable experiance, than hotel accomodations.Leigh & Jim were very kind and helpfull
We had a very enjoyable stay and were very comfortable and so enjoyed all the venues close by. Our hosts recommendations were spot on. Only one small complaint. The choices for breakfast are either fruit and granola and yoghurt or a cooked breakfast with a decorative slice of orange on the side. It would be nice to be offered fruit with either breakfast choice.
I am a regular visitor to New Orleans and have always stayed in the Quarter. Well, no more. Marigny is the place for me and the Elysian Fields Inn is the place to be. Leigh and Jim were perfect hosts and their cozy, warm, and well located B&B is exactly what we were looking for. The Crawford's moved to N.O. for the music and the food; so, if this is why you visit there, then the EFI is the spot for you, too. They can tell you where to find the best of both. We will definitely stay there again.
FANTASTIC location! Blocks away from Washington Sq. Park and the French Quarter in on direction and the local bar, poboy shop and Walgreen's (you always forget something) in the other. The owners are welcoming, the food is good, the rooms are great AND you can see the NYE fireworks from the back porch! It really couldn't have been better.
We had a wonderful stay, the breakfasts were incredible every morning and we were treated like royalty and it was in the perfect location to see the french quarter and other tours, along with Frenchman street which is wonderful. If your looking for a great place to stay with a great price this is the place. We so want to come back, thanks for a great vacation!
We only had one night at the Elysian Fields Inn, and I wish we could have stayed longer! Leigh and Jim are so kind and accommodating. They take a genuine interest in their guests and helping them make the most of their trip to New Orleans. The Inn itself is beautiful and our room was very clean and private. We would definitely stay here again!
The owners were very friendly and great cooks! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this Bed & Breakfast. I felt very at home here, and the room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable.
We had a great stay at Elysian Fields on our first trip to New Orleans. Leigh & Jim were warm and welcoming, and the house was a beautiful example of the city's architecture. The location was nice, just off Frenchman street and a short walk from Bourbon Street, though we later realized we'd rather be far far away from the craziness of Bourbon. We would have rather had a room in the back with a little more light, but even the streetside room was quiet and we slept soundly. Breakfast was good, with a choice of pastries and yogurt or a hot dish, and we were satisfied. Overall a great choice, and I'd gladly recommend it to a friend (or internet strangers) when faced with New Orleans' many options.

Great old home that is lovingly cared for. It's about 2 blocks to the music on Frenchmen, and although the neighborhood to the north of Rampart is rough, the location of the inn is perfectly safe, and IMHO perfect overall. Parking is also a breeze
Leigh and Jim are the most gracious hosts! The breakfasts were gourmet and made to order, and our hosts were a great source of information about the city and the neighborhood. The B&B is around the corner from Frenchmen street, which has all the best music in New Orleans, but the hotel itself is quiet, comfortable, and relaxing. Our room (104), which when I booked was the most affordable in the establishment, was spacious and comfortable. We loved it and can't recommend it enough!
We had a great stay at Elysian Fields Inn. Jim and Leigh are fantastic hosts, providing just the right amount of information and privacy; I suggest tapping their wealth of New Orleans knowledge as often as you can. Don't miss a chance to give Zeke, the big yellow dog, some loving. The inn is beautiful and comfortable; the location is great for the clubs and restaurants on Frenchman Street, our favorite part of the city. Our only suggestion would be to select a room at the back of the house if you are a light sleeper-the street is a little busy and noisy, although it didn't bother us much. We'd go back in a heartbeat!
What a wonderful little place to stay, just outside of the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. Jim and Leigh were wonderful and took the time to speak with us about the city and some great places to eat. Just about everything is within walking distance. The street car line is only a few blocks away, too. The Inn is located in a safe part of town. Even when walking back late, we never felt unsafe. We will certainly stay here again!
The location of Elysian Fields Inn was perfect! It made you walk through Frenchman Street to get into the French Quarter and to get out so we got the chance to really enjoy the great music.
Elysian Fields Inn was beautiful and the owners were so nice and helpful. Each morning we got a new and tastey breakfast and the rooms were very large and nice. When we come back to New Orleans we'll always stay at this B&B. It really made our first trip to NOLA great!!!!
The owners were so friendly and great. Our rooms were nice, and cleaned daily. Fresh towels even upon request, and great breakfast that was available until 10 am, which was later than most places would serve. Nice if you want to sleep in a little bit.

We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful place. Inn keepers were great. Slightly less than what I expected, but we would definitely return for another visit. Breakfast could use more variety and more quantity. Minor adjustments need made to the room (crack in the bathroom door, small gap in the hall door when closed, water stain on ceiling, hot tub was very small).
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] I am glad that this guest enjoyed their stay with us! First, a little about our breakfasts at the Inn; they are not fancy resort style B&B Breakfasts, no Eggs Benedict or Eggs Sardou here. There is no way this home cook is going to compete with the likes of Commander's Palace or Emeril's! But, what you do get is a hot breakfast choice that changes daily (it might be homemade buttermilk pancakes, a Breakfast strata or eggs and bacon…) and if that is not to your liking we have a cold choice of a fresh fruit, yogurt and granola parfait. Always available on the sideboard at breakfast are fresh baked goods from our neighborhood bakery a block away, O.J., Coffee and Tea Service along with a bowl of Apples, Oranges and Bananas. No one should leave hungry. Our goal is to provide our guests with a breakfast that will fuel their sightseeing until lunch time at one of New Orleans incredible restaurants.
The Inn is 150 years old next year and yes the bathroom door in that room does have a crack...but not one you can see through. Buildings settle in 150 years. As far as the water stains on the ceiling, they are one of the last remnants of our damage from Hurricane Katrina and as finances allow we are refurbishing our rooms one at a time. Lastly, we do not have hot tubs in our ensuite baths and have never advertised that we do. The tubs are jetted Jacuzzi type tubs like one would find in a high-end home bathroom.
We had a wonderful time at Elysian Fields. They were MORE than accommodating to our requests and needs. The bed and linens were so comfortable. LOVE the Aveda bath products - very nice touch. Friendly and knowledgeable Innkeepers. Will definitely stay with Leigh and Jim again!
My friend and I had the opportunity to stay at the Elysian Inn for four days last week and both of us were very impressed with well, everything.
Jim and Lee are very considerate and graceful hosts, anticipating their guests needs, providing information and warm hospitality as well as a very clean and attractive place to stay.
This Inn is the perfect place to get a real feel for New Orleans, there is the art every where, there are stories, the Inn dog named Zeke and the bar right next door with drag shows every weekend, also Gene's Po Boys a few houses down to get a hot Sausage Po Boy and a Daquiri if the need arises...
Guests are made to feel welcome to mingle in the great room, wonderful breakfasts are provided for and the location could not be better, between the Quarter and the Marigny.
I will come back as soon as money allows, sooner if I win the lottery.
This was our 1st B&B. We were the only guests at the INN. Accomodations were fine. Can't compare value with any others, this being our first. Thought breakfast would include a larger variety, but food served was good.
This was our first visit to New Orleans and our hosts, Jim and Leigh, were wonderful hosts. Leigh gave us lots of ideas and information re: sight-seeing and entertainment. Our room was comfortable and clean. This location was great - a short walk to the French Quarter and very close to Frenchmens street, where there were lots of restaurants and live entertainment, both inside and outside. Staying here gave us a great local feel to New Orleans.
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend and staying at the Elysian Fields Inn was a big part of that. Beautifully decorated, warm, clean, friendly innkeepers, perfect location, fairly priced. We highly recommend booking a room here.
Wonderful house, great location, great owners who are very helpful, they provided a detailed map of where to eat and what to see. Would definitely stay there again.
If you are looking for a cozy inn that meshes with the unique atmosphere of the French quarter but it is also a refuge from the bright lights of Bourbon Street, the Elysian Inn is perfect. Jim and Leigh were the ideal hosts and their recommendations for places to see were spot on. We are definitely looking foward to the next visit.

I know NOLA well. This B&B offers more room space than most, a relaxed atmosphere and enough breakfast to keep you going til nightfall! Free parking near the quarter! Hang out on the veranda to read or "people watch", walk around the block for great pistoles and pralines, walk a few blocks more to be immersed in the French quarter or Frenchman street's jazz ambience, belly rub the Labragold, then head out to see the rest of NOLA with Leigh's and Jim's great advice. What more can you ask of a B&B?
Jim and Leigh were very knowledgeable about area restaurants and activities. Breakfasts were delicious every morning and the inn itself was very clean and comfortable. Within walking distance to French Quarter and other sights, but far enough away that it is quiet at night.

Staying on the outskirts of the french quarter was a benefit I didn't fully expect. Being close to Frenchmen street where there were wonderful dining options and music was fantastic. The closer we got to Bourbon street, the raunchier things were. Not what we wanted for a romantic weekend. This place was quiet and well run. Breakfast was a bit spartan compared to other B&B's stayed at. But the owners were friendly and helpful with great suggestions. I would stay here again for those reasons.
The inn is nice but the neighborhood seemed a little shady. To gain access to the porch you need to unlock a keyed gate or buzz into the inn for someone to come out and let you in. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the bathroom door did not close and the room door had issues as well. Ear plugs left on the bedside table were appreciated to help tame the outside noises (traffic, train, people on the sidewalk). The inn keepers were nice and very informative about the city and its attractions. Breakfast was good but different than what I am used to. I think a warm AND cold option would be appreciated instead of a warm OR cold option. If I return to NOLA I would like to stay/experience a different part of the city.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] I am glad that our guest found us nice and informative. Yes, you do need a key to open the front gate, also to open the front door and your room, one key does it all! The reason the front gate is locked is so that UPS, FedEx and the USPS can leave packages for us behind the gate.
Our neighborhood, the Faubourg Marigny, was founded in 1805 and the Inn was built in 1863. This is not the first time that a guest new to New Orleans has mistaken our Creole architecture and the multi- cultural nature of our neighborhood as shady. But, the only things shady about our neighborhood are the beautiful Live Oaks that line many of our streets. Faubourg Marigny was awarded a Top Ten Neighborhood in the U.S. award in 2009 by the American Planning Association. It is an urban neighborhood and you will hear trains, boat horns (the Mississippi is five blocks from the Inn) and people but the main reason we have the ear plugs and also eye masks is for our guests that want to stay out late to hear our fabulous music and then sleep in.
Yes, the bathroom door in room 201 is warped but it does close and the guest showed me a hairline crack in the door to the room…both doors are 147 years old as is the Inn. This was the first time since I have been Innkeeper that anyone has brought either to my attention.
At the Inn breakfast consists of a hot option, on any given day it could be bacon and eggs, a breakfast strata, or pancakes and sausage etc., a cold option that is a Yogurt, fresh fruit and granola parfait and on the sideboard for everyone to enjoy O.J., Coffee, Tea Service and pastries from our neighborhood bakery a block from the Inn.
I would encourage our guest to try a different part of the city if she returns…before I moved here I visited for over 20 years and stayed in many of the neighborhoods in New Orleans…I found that Faubourg Marigny was my neighborhood and I love to share it and my city of New Orleans with my guests.

Great location for walking, great food, extremely clean place. Innkeepers couldn't be nicer and more helpful. Only drawback was noise from nearby bars, but it's New Orleans...
A perfect place to stay if you are in New Orleans and want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter and discover a part of the city that's close to all the major attractions but is a little off the beaten path. Fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable innkeepers, beautiful old house and wonderful accommodations (and the place is not creaky and dilapidated just because it's an old house, it's been painstakingly restored and everything is in tip-top shape), and a wonderful golden retriever is on the premises if you time your visits to the dining room right. We couldn't have asked for a better place and will definitely stay again when we are in New Orleans next.
We wanted a place close to the French Quarter but not in the Quater. Elysian Fields Inn was perfect for what we were looking for. Leigh and Jim were great hosts, provided us with all the information we needed and provided a great breakfast AND COFFEE to start the day. Our room was great.
My husband and I stayed at Elysian Fields Inn for our anniversary. It was clean, cool, lovely, comfortable, a great value, and a great location. The hosts are friendly and helpful. We'd definitely recommend it and will stay there again on our next trip to New Orleans.
Leigh and Jim were wonderful hosts and had great suggestions for daily activities. The breakfasts were delicious and the common areas (dining, front verandahs, back deck, inside lounge) were nicely appointed and very welcoming. Great bonus is that the inn is so close to Frenchmen St. - easy to pop over to hear great music at almost any time of day.
Away from the craziness of the French Quarter but only a short walk or cab ride away. Breakfasts are terrific--especially the strada!! Lovely large room.
My wife and I had a great stay. Comfortable, clean, quiet, nice meal to start the day, easy walk to the Quarter and a couple blocks from great music on Frenchmen St. Jim and Leigh made us feel very welcome and we would definitely go back.

The delightful experience that Patty Neubauer and Ken Wald enjoyed during their visit to the Cresent City was nurtured and guided by the great proprieters of this outstanding Bed and Breakfast. With purpose and joy, Leigh and Jim love their work as innkeepers. They treated us with warmth and kindness. They made every effort to immerse ourselves in the rich context of this great city. With passion, Jim and Leigh, mix the ingredients of music, art, politics, history, food, beverage, fauna, flora, and community to make a very spicy visitor's gumbo!
Jim and Leigh epitomize Southern hospitality. We always feel welcome and comfortable in their beautiful inn. We walked to the French Quarter nearly every day. We did not rent a car since the location allows us to walk to most attractions with just an occasional cab ride. The music clubs on Frenchmen Street are nearby. We visited the World War II museum which we highly recommend. We will stay at Elysian Fields Inn whenever we come to New Orleans.

I first chose this place because of the location but I will keep coming back for the great service and personal touch of Leigh and Jim. When my son(age) woke up each morning, the first words out of his mouth were "I want to go talk to Leigh". A true gem.
We have stayed here about five times, and the accommodations have always been wonderful. The owners personally serve very tasty breakfast(s), and are very friendly.
This was the perfect place to stay while in New Orleans. It is a short walk to Jackson Square and the rest of the French Quarter, and felt completely safe. Leigh and Jim were great hosts, with helpful information on area dining. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast!
We recently stayed at Elysian Fields for our first trip to New Orleans, and found it to be more than adequate. The Inn was spotlessly clean, and our hosts were friendly and gave great advice on restaurants, local activities, and music. It is located on a main thoroughfare, and if one is a light sleeper this and your room selection should be borne in mind. Other than that, it was an easy walk to the Quarter, food, and entertainment. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others. A cab is more economical and faster (from the airport) in almost all situations.

My wife and I just spent 3 great days at the Elysian Fields Inn. It was my first trip to New Orleans my wife went to college nearby and has been to the city often. We wanted to get the authentic feel for the city. The Inn gave us that and much more Lee and Jim were great and knew all about the city and what to see. They were charming fun and wonderful hosts. We will be back and can give it our best recommendation.

We have stayed with Leigh and Jim 4 times because they are music fans and foodies which means they are really well informed on the best bands and music clubs and a wide range of restaurants. And we love the short walk through Washington square Park on our way to Frenchmen St or the Quarter. The inn is perfectly done in comfortable chic and breakfast is made individually for each guest. You'll love it!
Would definitely stay here again! One of the best B&B's I've stayed at in NO!
Elysian Fields Inn is a wonderful B&B. They have a garage for off-street parking which is hard to come by in New Orleans. Our room was clean and cozy. I especially liked how they had an ice machine we could use at any time (we had a cooler with food in it that needed to be kept cold). A lot of B&Bs we've stayed at didn't have ice. The breakfast was wonderful! The entire house is decorated nicely with a lot of pictures on the history of the house. Their book collection was outstanding too! A lot of books on the city, etc. We loved their dog Zeke too! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
Jim and Leigh were wonderful hosts. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the location was perfect, a 15 min walk to the French Quarter but away enough from the hubbub to be quiet and relaxing. Wished we could've stayed for more than one night!
Location, location, location is the great reason to stay at this Bed and Breakfast. Easy off easy on the highway. Ease of walking around the city. Inkeepers are very knowledgeable of the area. They provide maps of the area and have lived in New Orleans for many years.
Very comfortable accommodations. House has a great family history.
Only stayed one night on a business trip, but this place has a great location near my favorite music street in the city, Frenchman street. The porch is a great place for a cup of coffee on a nice day, and Leigh and Jim are very personable (and make a good breakfast). The room is comfy and classical, a great touch if you want a good sense of what it is like to stay in a place representative of New Orleans housing. Bravo!
We stayed at the Elysian Fields Inn for two nights right after Mardi Gras. We had a great experience. I loved the house and our rooms. Very attractive with nice art and comfortable furniture. The Inn was convenient and reasonably priced. Innkeepers, Leigh and Jim, were very helpful. In particular several restaurant and music suggestions were great and not places we would have found on our own. We have spend a lot of time in New Orleans over the years and this is definitely a place I would go back and take other family members.

The owners were VERY nice. However, the house (dating back to the 1800s) had no period details remaining. It had been renovated to include as many bedrooms as possible. That being said, if you want a clean, comfortable room then you will be happy here. Lastly, secure parking is limited and there did not appear to be any safe parking nearby. Make sure to check in as early as possible to take advantage of the parking.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] I thank our guests for their compliments…but I would like to speak to what they said about the Inn and the parking situation.
The Inn built in 1863 was originally built as a Center Hall Creole Cottage, it sat right on the curb of Elysian Fields Avenue. Some time after the Civil War the Points family of Staunton, Virginia bought 930 Elysian Fields where family members lived until the late 1940’s! After the Great Flood of 1927 the Points had the house set back off the street, raised and added the beautiful front porch that we and our guests enjoy today. Houses are not stuck in time they evolve with their inhabitants and environs. So today we find 930 Elysian Fields hosting guests from all over the world.
There is so much period detail remaining…from our 17 foot ceilings (some are only 12 to 15 foot) to the over one foot deep crown moldings on the first floor, the beautiful mahogany floors and the wonderful interior cypress doors; the Inn gives testament to the craftsmen of a bygone era. What it does not have is period furniture, heavy Victorian drapes and décor. We use the soaring spaces to highlight our Art collection and our collection of Festival Poster Art.
Parking…we park a car on the street almost every night as do our neighbors with out problem and have never had to turn a guest away when they requested a place in our six car garage…and unlike the large hotels we do not charge $30.00 a day.

A great little B&B close enough to the French Quarter to be easy, but far enough out to be quaint. Inn keepers, plus Zeke the resident monsterlab, were incredibly friendly, knowledgable about the the city and what is close by, and clearly enjoy what they do.
Would stay here again!
We absolutely loved the Elysian Fields ! The hosts were kind, warm, and helpful with their suggestions. The location was fabulous, and we could easily walk wherever we felt like going.
If we ever go back to New Orleans, we'll definitely stay at this inn again.
This is a perfect location for down town/Jackson square/Frenchman St. . It's far enough away from the hustle that it's quiet and relaxing. I was so glad that I could walk to the action and not worry about getting lost. The people that own the place are very nice!! I will be going back for another visit! Can't beat it! The price was great for the location of the house. Thanks for a great 5 year anniversary!
LOVED staying at the Elysian Fields. Beautiful, great decor, CLEAN, CLOSE to most of the things you go to New Orleans to see. And Leigh and Jim were friendly and helpful. Have already recommended it to several friends.
We loved this beautiful, traditional home with nice modern touches including updated bathrooms. The owners were extremely accommodating and provided great recommendations for restaurants, etc. It's a short walk to the french quarter.

Could not ask for a better location. A few blocks from Frenchmen Street where music venues were in abundance. Bourbon street is a few blocks further. Rooms were good. Liked the high ceiling and massive cove moulding. Jim and Leigh were cheerful and helpful. We would stay there again
You must try Coops pub. Loved the food...gumbo, shrimp creole, and jambalaya.
We had a great time at Elysian Fields. The room was wonderful and the breakfast was yummy. Leigh and Jim were very helpful with things to do in New Orleans and places to sample the wonderful food there. Had a wonderful time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Elysian Fields Inn. The room served our needs well and Leigh and Jim were very helpful with street car information. The walk to the French Market and the French Quarter was an easy stroll; however, the one day we decided to get a cab one was easily found on Frenchman Street a few blocks away.
A wonderful price for such a wonderful experience
Our stay at the Elysian Fields Inn was exactly what we were looking for:
1.) a beautiful building with clean, comfortable rooms
2.) close proximity to many of New Orleans' known attractions (music, food, architecture))but in a neighborhood that feels local and interesting
3.) a safe environment from which to walk around any time of day
4.) friendly and knowledgeable innkeepers (Jim & Leigh really love being there)
5.) a good breakfast!
We got all of this and more. If you haven't been to New Orleans, what are you waiting for? It's one of the most unique and interesting cities in the U.S. I was thanked at least FIVE times by different locals for choosing their city to come and spend time/money. If you have been there, you know how magical it feels!
Oh, and the inn has a great, laid-back and friendly dog!

Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl for the first time in 31 years, and shared it with great longtime friends and new friends--innkeepers Leigh and Jim. A wonderful location near Frenchman Street and the French Quarter. Accommodations were outstanding, breakfasts were very good and Leigh and Jim were very helpful with their local knowledge. Excellent facility PLUS great location PLUS knowledgable and entertaining innkeepers EQUALS ONE FANTASTIC TRIP!!
The interior of this home is absolutely beautiful and the innkeepers pleasant with a gorgeous central space. You could hang out there for several days. The house itself is on a rough looking boulevard but very close ( 100 yards or so) to the best (non tourist) bars and restaurants in New Orleans -- It is not a great place to have a car, although they will put the car in their garage for you if you are nervous like me. and you should be someone who likes going to bars and enjoying life, not someone who wants internet access and uninterrupted sleep.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] I have to agree with this guest, we are just steps from some of the best, Food, Music and Libations that New Orleans has to offer but I would have to disagree that there is anything rough looking about Elysian Fields Avenue in the Faubourg Marigny.
Elysian Fields has a very interesting and romantic history. It was the first road to stretch from the Mississippi to Lake Pontchartrain 5 miles away. It travels through many neighborhoods, including at the Lakefront, the University of New Orleans Campus. Following in order are Milneburg, Gentilly, an industrial/commercial area bounded by I 610 lake side and I 10 river side, Saint Roch, the New Marigny and finally the last seven blocks Of Elysian Fields Avenue traverses Faubourg Marigny (one of New Orleans oldest neighborhoods, founded 1805)ending at the Mississippi River and the French Market on the up river edge of the French Quarter.
So, as you can see Elysian Fields is long and very diverse. Some areas might be deemed rough looking especially bordering the Industrial area but certainly not Elysian Fields where the Inn is located.
We recently stayed three nights in one of the small rooms that did not have some of the amenities offered in the larger room, but was very nice for a couple who was out and about most of the time. The queen sized bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet for sleeping. The home is beautiful, clean and comfortable with a sweet and quiet dog. We enjoyed the friendly owners and delicious breakfasts, with a different freshly made entree choice each morning. The inn is within about a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter, and on the bus line if you want to save your feet for the inside the quarter. We loved wandering around the French Quarter, but were glad to have this quiet retreat when finished. Check out the neighborhood bar in down on the corner for a nightcap - low key compared to the nearby Frenchmen Street jazz clubs, but very friendly owner and staff.
It was like being at home with a bonus of having sweet friends helping navigate through the French Quarter and beyond. We had a fun, safe, and most enjoyable time. We know where we will stay the next time we come to the French Quarter.
Leigh and Jim are wonderful innkeepers, great sources of info on the local music scene, restaurants, museums. There's so much to do in New Orleans, it was great to have expert direction in making the most of our time there.
MY boyfriend and I stayed here during a business trip. Excellent location, wonderful owners and an easy five minute walk to most of the things we wanted to see. Very quiet, superbly maintained house. The Aveda bath products were a nice touch! We definitely recommend this without hesitation to anyone travelling to New Orleans.
The innkeepers were wonderful and made the visit that much more special and unique. The breakfast is hearty and homemade daily. The inn's location is fabulous - close to good music, divine restaurants, and access to a local's New Orleans.

Elysian Fields Bed and Breakfast, a wonderful place to stay.
This is the second time we've stayed at Elysian Fields and will stay there again next time we return to New Orleans.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who wants the complete "New Orleans" experience.
Saturday afternoon arrival, early Monday morning departure. Most B&Bs of this vintage "show their age" (creaking floors, suspect plumbing, etc.) Not in this case. Solid house. We also appreciated having access to the kitchen for storing groceries.
This inn was very clean, modern, and convenient! I loved the aveda products, the jacuzzi, and the breakfast area. This inn was walking distance from everything in the French Quarter and Frenchman St. I would recommend this inn to anyone!

We stayed only one night but if we ever go back to NO we'll stay there again. The owners were extremely nice and the inn is clean, quaint and very close to the French Quarter and everything else we wanted to see. They also had some great restaurant suggestions which led us to the best fried chicken we've ever had (and I was born in the south). Rooms were large enough and very clean. Very good value since it was so close to the Quarter. Also, don't miss the World War II museum if you go.
We came to N.O. for the first time in July 2009 and wanted to stay in the Marigny district, since our daughter recommended the area for its access to all things "cool" in the city. Elysian Fields Inn popped up on an internet search, and we consider it a most fortunate discovery. We returned again in Jan.2010, and found it to be just as comfortable and charming as it was on our first visit. Leigh and Jim are excellent hosts and are great at providing info on the best places to dine, listen to music, shop, "people watch" etc. The Inn is so comfortable, immaculately clean, spacious and homey. I think it would satisfy even the fussiest guests. We loved the early morning coffee and the deliciously prepared breakfasts. We will be back often to visit our daughter and our new friends, Leigh and Jim. We're beginning to think of N.O. as a second home with Elysian Fields Inn as the best place to unpack our bags.

We just returned to Seattle after spending four amazing nights in New Orleans, staying at the Elysian Fields Inn. The purpose of our trip was a "mini reunion" of my husband and his two brothers and their wives, who live in Michigan. This was our best reunion ever! The inn was perfect for all of us, as it was quiet, yet so close to all that New Orleans has to offer in the way of music, food, art & architecture. We planned each evening while sitting on the huge porch perched above the sidewalk, just watching the world go by as we sipped our drinks. Leigh & Jim, our hosts, are true professionals, keeping the inn immaculately clean and uncluttered, were truly dedicated to making sure that our stay in the city they obviously love, was a memorable one. They were available for suggestions (they provided maps & music schedules), and yet they also "gave us our space" as well. I appreciated the fact that Leigh was so knowledgeable about the local music venues in the immediate neighborhood, on Frenchman street, three blocks away. We heard so much good music in three evenings, thanks to Jim and Leigh's tips, that we were sad to realize we were just scratching the surface! I loved our room, which had a queen bed w/ an excellent mattress and the bathroom, whose lovely, clean, deep jacuzzi I used every day after sightseeing. I enjoyed using those nice top of the line Aveda bath products as well. Now that we know how much this city has to offer, we really hope to return soon, and will definitely stay again at the Elysian Fields Inn.
Every year my best friend and I take a trip together. Although we are always on a tight budget, we try to stay in B&Bs because we love the personal touches and local flavor. Of all those that we've stayed in over the past 10 years, the Elysian Fields Inn ranks as one of the very best. Jim and Leigh are fantastic hosts - fun, friendly and incredibly informative. Zeke, their dog, is the sweetest thing on four paws. The inn is adorable and impeccably clean, as well as very affordable. The food is delicious, made to order and carries you through the day. I am still thinking about the french toast Jim made from sliced croissants!! As two women travelling alone, the neighborhood felt safe to walk through, which was important. And it's proximity to the French Quarter and river couldn't be beat. We greatly enjoyed sitting out on the porch at night, sipping our drinks. We truly felt like we were staying with old friends and simply can't wait to go back!
We (my wife and another couple) just completed a 3 day stay at the Elysian Fields. As a commercial pilot I stay in more hotels than I would like to remember, but this B&B is the best. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The bathroom (wood floors with tiled walls) was not only clean but looked like they were brand new. All the amenities of an expensive hotel were included. There is a huge front porch which we used to sit in the afternoon and enjoy our drinks. Walking into this B&B, you will immediately discover the charm of the old New Orleans.
What can I say about Jim and Leigh? They had never met us but were responsible for us having a great weekend. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, their advice valuable and as a couple, most pleasant and charming.
The Inn is located a few minutes away from restaurants and perhaps a 10-15 minute delightful walk to Bourbon street. This is the place to stay at when travelling to the French quarter.
This B&B was like a home away from home, but with the special feel of an urban inn. The rooms, all with private baths gave us plenty of quiet privacy. The living and eating space was uncluttered, spacious and inviting. The porches where we could sit with our friends to enjoy wine and company were perfect with plenty of seating. Our hosts Jim and Leigh were very accommodating and took care of all our needs as well as serving outstanding breakfasts with local pastries coffee. Leigh even generously gave us her amazing egg casserole recipe made with white wine. What a treat! We would definitely go back and stay there again on our next trip to NOLA.
Monte and Mary - Kansas City
Staying at Elysian Fields Inn made our visit to New Orleans, with six of our dearest friends, even more memorable. From the time we set foot in the door until the time we had to bid our farwells, we felt at home at the Inn. The innkeepers, Leigh & Jim, could not have been more hospitable, accomodating and gracious. Their insights and suggestions of music venues, restaurants and things to do in general really helped us all to make our stay so enjoyable. The proximity of the Inn to such places as the French Market, Frenchman Street, Jackson Square and the French Quarter make all a short and fun walk.
The rooms at the Inn are lovingly renovated and feel very historic in themselves. Breakfasts, prepared by Leigh & Jim, were delicious; especially the spinach egg souffle,so much so that we all asked for the recipe. The buttermilk pancakes were light as air....never had better! Wonderful coffee too. The great room and front porch offer nice ways to kick back and exchange conversation and ,maybe, sip a glass of wine. All in all, we really loved our stay at Elysian Fields Inn and can't wait for a return visit!
