Ananda B&B

Kate is a wonderful host who really made our stay in Sicily special. She not only provides a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere for her guests but is also a very good cook, specially her breakfast cakes! She is also doubles up as a travel adviser and was very helpful in suggesting places to visit etc. We will certainly return when next in Sicily! Sushila & Mick

I have been here for five days and four nights. To all her customers, Cathrene Hume of Glasgow presents the best manner of Scottish people, warm welcoming, being assistant, and friendly good bye. She treats her customers as guests not as strangers. I never felt of being alone in an unknown place. Instead, I always saw myself in a family home of a good old friends. She is very well educated equipped with the rich British culture and lovely morals of Scotland. The details of breakfast serving in the terrace is wonderful where you have a nice view of the see observing big ships moving around reminding you of ‘’The Lady of Shallot’’. The Place is located in the best part of Catania near the Roma Piazza in a very short walking distance from Via Etna, the main street of Catania, and close to shopping centers. There is a nice pastry shop and a bar down the building where you can find nice people with nice little things to eat and drink. The price is the fairest you may expect while the service is the most excellent you may receive in Catania. Ananda B&B is my first choice in any of my next trips to Catania.

We were guests of 14 days Catherene.Sie has a wonderful B & B. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and always sauber.Catherine speaks perfect Italian and English (no wonder she is from Scotland ...) and we were very good and with tips report supplied. The B & B is centrally located in Catania, close to many bus stops. it is a good location for trips to Taormina, Siracusa and andere.Catherene organized for its guests excursions to Etna, which for us was a great help. But the best part is the breakfast on the terrace. Between flowers and small trees can enjoy your coffee and take a look at the Etna. Total is one of the best B & B we have visited

We spent three nights in this lovely apartment which was clean and comfortable It has a beautiful rooftop garden where breakfast was served and the balcony of our room had an amazing view of Mount Etna. Our host, Kate was pleasant and f riendly and helped us with general information recommending places to eat and providing maps of the area. Kate's help was invaluable when we incurred a parking ticket and she translated forms and advised us how to pay the fine.

A good friend recommended this lovely B&B to us and we were so very glad that we followed that advise! The owner of Ananda is a very kind lady from Glasgow, who speaks English, of course and Italian, which made things so much more easy for Tourists, who visit Catania for the first time! The rooms are very nice and have a big private bathroom, aircondition and everything one needs. Everything is very clean and we enjoyed the kind offer to let Mrs. Hume know when we would like to have breakfast. The terrace is huge and has two garden swings and lots of plants and flowers. It is nice to benefit from hints given from a local. Ananda is located a five minutes walk away from the beautiful Bellini Garden, from which the center with the exciting fish market is easy to reach by foot.

If you are looking for a little slice of paradise in Catania, along with lots of TLC, the Ananda B&B is the best place to stay. I stayed at Ananda for 2 weeks and not only never lacked for something new to see and do in the city and in the surrounding area, but was well taken care of by Kate. Wait until you taste her homemade date bread and homemade jams. YUM! Unfortunately I was ill during my stay, and Kate not only brought breakfast to my room, but she also checked in on me later in the day and brought me homemade soup. Who does that?!?! Above and beyond any service you will get from a hotel! My room had 2 twin beds, a dresser, desk, and wardrobe. I also had a desk and Wifi - as I was working in the afternoons. The location is great and from the plant-filled patio you can see water. Everything is within walking distance - with the park only 2 blocks away. You will be delighted with the facility, location, and great hostess - Kate Hume.

We stayed at Ananda B&B for 3 nights in November. Kate, the owner, was incredibly hospitable and made our stay very enjoyable. Relative to all of the other places we stayed in Sicily and Rome, Ananda B&B really made us feel like we were at home. I would strongly recommend this B&B!

I' ve spent one week in november 2011 in this b & b. The room and the bathroom are large, new furnished and clean. Cathrene is able to give you many informations about Catania, Sicily and Italy. Really marvelous is her breakfast. Very rich, varied and tasteful. An ideal b & b above all for tourists, who speak better English than Italian. Eckart from Berlin, Germany

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We wish we could have stayed longer. Quiet for inner city and Kate made us so welcome. She is a wonderful host and extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

My girlfriend and I spent one night here in september (unfortunately not more) after attending a wedding in Forza D'Agro, before going back to Norway. Cathrene, the innkeeper, is a lovely lady with a lovely home, it's just one of those places you would like to go back to. The room and bathroom, and the house in general are very clean and nice, comfortable and charming. Most hotels are not as nice as this... As we were late up, we did not get to taste the breakfast but we will next time, because we are going back down to Catania as soon as we can. The terrace is outstanding, she has a small jungle out there and it is very tidy and well kept, the perfect place to chill out with a cold beer in the evening and study all the lovely plants (if you are a gardening enthusiast like me it's awesome :-)). We highly recommend Ananda B&B, if you choose to stay at her place you will not be disappointed! Trude and Amund

It was a real pleasure to spend five nights in June 2011 in Kate's wonderful B&B. The rooms were lovely and sparkling clean. A view to mount Etna from the balcony - what more could you possibly want in Catania... The location is perfect, everything you need is in walking distance. Breakfast is served on a beautiful terrace where you can hardly squeeze in a table between all the flowerpots ;-) And what a breakfast! Maybe you could find similar places in town in terms of rooms, balconies, or breakfast locations (though I doubt it). Ananda, however, is unique and special because of Kate, the soul and heart of this B&B. Friendly, warm, helpful, witty, knowledgeable, and charming she is the best landlady ever. I can only recommend Ananda. Relax, enjoy, and return!

My partner and I have recently stayed for 6 nights (June 2011) at Ananda's and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Having stayed at B & B's in the UK Ananda's sits at the top end of the market. It was clean, quiet and had a beautiful terrrace where breakfast was served. The Owner would change the breakfast menu daily to give us a true taste of Sicily.The cleansiness of the rooms and bathroom was superb. The Owner was very friendly and warm and able to offer a lot of advice with regards the city and local areas - such as which bus to catch where, what to see, etc. The Owner also made us feel that we were an extention of her family - and even went as far as to supply plasters & talc (for aching sore feet) and spray for bites. Ananda's definitely raises the bar when it comes to B and B's. A TRULY WONDERFUL experience.
