    Fantastic Bed and Breakfast

    My husband and I were celebrating my 50th birthday in Hawaii. We stayed for two nights at the Shipman House in order to spend time at the Volcano Nat'l Park. The Shipman House is a wonderful place; like living in a museum! The hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet on the lanai was amazing! We would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates detail and a quiet mature atmosphere. A definate 10 out of 10! Merci, Kimara (Switzerland)

    A gracious experience of historic Hawai'i

    A welcome change from the large could-be-anywhere hotels, our stay at Shipman House was a window into historic Hilo and a chance to experience the graciousness of our hosts and this house. Located off a quiet street not too far from old Hilo town, this house has nice views back to Hilo Bay, has beautiful lanais and living and dining rooms with impressively high ceilings and appointed with historic furniture and photos from the family's long history on this Island. Breakfast is a delight and delicious, featuring topical fruits -- many of which are grown on the property. This B and B offers an authentic, historical Hawaii experience and was a great base from which to explore Hilo, the Volcano area and the Hamakua Coast.

    A Home Away from Home

    The Shipman House Bed & Breakfast is an exquisite piece of the Big Island's history and delightful home away from home. The Andersens are amazing hosts whose everyday breakfasts are tropical bits of heaven. Making their guests feel like dear friends is their special gift, providing island-perfect accommodations which provide rest and refreshment. This will be our ONLY choice of stay on Hawaii.

    Relaxing step back into Hawaiian history

    We spent two nights at Shipman House and would have been happy to stay forever. Shipman House is filled with family history yet offers up-to-date extras like WiFi. Breakfast is a vast spread of local fruit, jams and breads along with the usual eggs, bagels, etc. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was fully equipped. Barbara and Gary even provided earplugs in case the local frogs were too loud. If you play the piano, there's a well-tuned grand in the living room and guests are welcome to play it. We felt like members of the family during our stay and would happily return for another visit.

    Superb B&B

    My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity of staying at the Shipman House for three nights in February. All we can say about the experience is that it was worth every minute of it! The beauty of the house , it's history,the breathtaking surroundings,the superb hosts who not only gave us delicious breakfasts but were so heipful as well--- we can go on and on. All we can hope is that we are able to revisit sometime soon and enjoy it all over again!
