Very gracious, attentive staff, excellent location in quiet but convenient neighborhood. We arrived late in the afternoon and I needed a cup of coffee to revive, asked Joanne if I could scrounge up a cup on the premises. She said not to worry and 5 min. later as we are unpacking she knocks on the door with a beautifully laid tray: coffee, cream, cream puffs and cookies! That's what I'm talking about. The piazza was perfect for relaxing at dusk with drinks, watching the sky turn dark between the columns. If it's a nice morning, ask for breakfast in the courtyard. It was heaven. (Only one small problem with our room, the Bartram: the AC was funky, and armoire door broken. Seems these could be easily fixed.) We'll be back. Also, so we can enjoy dinner again at the Dovetail, downtown. Macon was a very positive surprise.

We had a wonderful experience (2 nights) at the 1842 Inn. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. The1842 mansion has been beautifully restored to provide an authentic-feeling, 'grand antebellum' experience. Due to a late booking, the Nancy Hanks suite was one of the few rooms available - a little smaller than others, but still quite comfortable. The 1842 Inn and friendly staff delivered a memorable B&B experience. The food and service were both excellent: we would definitely recommend a visit.

This is a totally lovely play to stay if you have occasion to stay in Macon. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Common rooms are very nice. Service is superb. Breakfast is a wow; the soufflé is the one to pick. We loved our first experience and will be back.

We were traveling back to Florida and wanted a stop-over along the way so we booked the 1842 Inn. It was a quaint and beautiful place to stay. Each person we met, staff and other guests, were very friendly. Would recommend.

We so enjoyed our one-night stay at 1842 in Macon! We were in town for an engagement party and it was the most perfect spot to spend the night. We enjoyed a cocktail and some yummy small bites before our party in the front lobby. We stayed in the Benjamin Hawkins room and it was great. King bed was super comfortable, new TV in a large wardrobe, sweet little bathroom that was very clean and had all we need. Our breakfast the following morning was delicious, too! I had the soufflé and it was great! Joanne was such a treat. I forget the name of the sweet, gray-haired lady that greeted us upon arrival with a warm welcome, but Joanne gave us a very fond farewell! Would recommend 1842 highly to anyone visiting Macon. We ate a great burger at the Rookery, too, before hitting the road back to Atlanta! Enjoy!

We truly enjoyed our stay - and stayed longer than planned as a result. Would definitely return. No effort or detail was spared in renovating this 1842 mansion with a historic but checkered past into an authentic-feeling 'grand antebellum' experience. The only issue I'd communicate to the management is that all the effort was made in the mid 1990's - and small details - like old style TVs, ancient looking room thermostats, etc. betray that no updating has taken place since the grand renovation of 20 years ago. This has a minor but nagging effect that the Inn's days are numbered if they don't start paying attention. Go while it is still there!!!!
