The Cottage Bed & Breakfast

What an unexpected pleasure to have dinner at The Cottage for a belated Valentine's Dinner. The sauce on the shrimp was incredible, the sweet potatoe soufflé was perfect - not too sweet. Coupled with a salad and wonderful wine the dinner was divine. Then Martha's signature chocolate cake was a perfect end to a perfect night. Great friends, great food in a lovely spot! Kudos to Martha and Jean Michael. We plan to come back! Best, D Rich

We had an absolutely wonderful home cooked meal. We were fortunate that Martha and John Michael were able to spend time chatting with us at night and in the morning, when they prepared us a light delicious breakfast before we took the "long" trek back to Tallahassee and reality. We were very, very pleasantly surprised at this gem in Monticello, nay in the entire big bend region. If you are looking for a unique B&B that has reasonable prices, two owners that treat you like family and a charming decor then check this place out.

Martha and Jean-Michel at the Cottage B&B helped provide the absolute best Valentine's Day experience both my girlfriend and I have ever had. The hosts were continuously exceptionally warm, friendly, accomodating, and equally charming. I decided to have the optional thai shrimp dinner beforehand and it was outstanding. Also, the hosts were kind enough to add a Valentine's Day touch to the dinner and bedroom. The Romeo & Juliet room, in which we stayed, was very clean, comfortable, and aesthetically romantic. If my girlfriend and I decide to do another B&B in Monticello we will surely decide to re-live another exceptionally enjoyable experience at the Cottage.

Hi Martha and Jean Michel, We wanted to thank both of you for a wonderful stay at your house. I know we were only there late in the evenings and early mornings, but your house was so comfortable!! Your room was very comfortable and clean. Your breakfasts were awesome and it was so nice to be able to talk with both of you. You are 2 wonderful people who care deeply about your customers (friends). You treated us like family and we appreciate it. My son needed that friendly environment so he could focus on staying relaxed and to be able to perform his best with the Florida State professor. My husband and I had such a wonderful time staying and visiting with Martha and Jean Michael. They are special people. All I have done is talk about them and their beautiful home, and wonderful cooking. I sure wish I could get the “gang” together for a get-away next month, but unfortunately won’t be able to come back that soon. Looking forward to another visit in the future, though. This is a "Thank you" for their wonderful hospitality!

I had wanted to plan a birthday surprise for my husband. After speaking with Martha, I knew that an evening at the Cottages would be perfect. Martha and her husband Jean Michael warmth and hospitality made for a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back.

I called these folks to ask why they only gave the Romeo & Juliet room 3 stars and they said it was because the bed squeeked! We've tightened it up now, so no more worries!

Two weeks ago, a sudden accident to a family member brought us to Montiocello, Florida. The accomadations, serenity and graciousness extended to us by Martha and Jean Paul turned our brief stay into a pleasant get away. We plan to go back to enjoy the wonderful company, intelligent conversation, peaceful and beautiful gardens along with a delicious and healthy breakfast as soon as we can get away. We also want to have one of Martha's gourmet dinners. Jean Paul's artistry in turning an old home into a Mediterranean style retreat is eye candy and comfort. Gale and Larry

Martha and Jean Michel are excellent hosts. They were very welcoming and made my husband and I feel like we had known them forever. Martha used fresh herbs and vegetables from her garden to prepare one of the BEST meals I have ever had. The location of the cottage is two blocks from the Monticello Opera House and is a great place for a quiet weekend getaway.

Attending the annual Rose Festival in Thomasville, GA. was supposed to be the highlight of our girls weekend/Birthday celebration for our Mom and Aunt but our time at The Cottage was what made our trip together so very special and what we will always cherish. Martha and Jean Michel have found their niche! They didn't miss a single detail and what wonderful spirits they are to be around. My sister and I thank you for making our special trip so unforgettable! We will be back!

Very delightful. nice location, food was outstanding, room was nice, clean and quite comfortable. Hosts we very accomodating and loved meeting them. Hope to stay here again when travel takes me back to Tallahassee area.

When we were invited to dinner at a bed and breakfast an hour away from our home, I thought our friends must be nuts! But upon arrival, I discovered one of the best kept secrets of North Florida. All of our food was home made by the owners, even the bread! By far the best French Food that I have ever had! The house itself is absolutely beautiful and well decorated. I cannot wait to tell everyone that I know about this amazing little gem!

I was looking for a B&B that would allow me to disconnect from the world for a couple of days. I had the most relaxing, enjoyable stay with Martha and Jean Michel. The food is an absolute delight and the grounds are serene! I would highly recommend this B&B!

We want to thank our hosts for a wonderful two night stay. Jean Michel and Martha were extremely warm and friendly. Our room was a delight! Food was magnificent and our coffee cups were never empty. Friendliness, good conversation, and warmth from our hosts made this a wonderful stay. Looking forward to our next visit.

Matt and I had the misfortune of having car trouble on a trip home from Georgia last week. However, we had the FORTUNE of being stranded in Monticello, Florida, which is how we discovered The Cottage B & B. It was AWESOME, the owners, Martha and Jean Michel, were AWESOME. They were the nicest people and Martha made us the best dinner! The dining area is decorated elegantly and they have dinners there often for the locals or people just stopping by for dinner, not an overnight stay. The rooms are romantic and quaint (we stayed in the room pictured to the left on this page), the outside is filled with decks and tables to sit at, a hot tub and a cute little pond with a bridge over it, and the pond has goldfish and frogs in it! There is a little gazebo like area at the far end of the back yard. They grow their own herbs and some vegetables there and they are all about in the back yard, which is gigantic! They have two cats that hang outsite on the grounds, Josephine and Stupid, and they are so friendly and adorable! I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in the area; even if you want to go to Tallahasse, The Cottage is a great place to stay as it is close by but not in the middle of all the craziness. We relaxed for two days while waiting for our car to be fixed!

I recently took friends here for a birthday celebration - such a wonderful evening! The dinner was absolutely delicious! The service was outstanding! The hosts are such a charming and hospitable couple. Their B&B is beautiful ! It is an amazing oasis, a real piece of heaven. You can really feel all the love and tender care that has gone into every detail. It made my friend's birthday visit so extra-special! It was terrific how they cared for every detail of the meal, from wine to the lovely harp! It is a memory that we will cherish forever!

We had a delightful one night stay at the Cottage. The Innkeepers were so hospitable and engaging. And the dinner we had on request was one of the finest meals we have had, almost anywhere. The special order dinners are a great reason to stay here, besides the ambiance and uniqueness of the location. We would definitely recommend this Inn to others . . . but make sure that you have dinner. And that is not to take away from the breakfast, it too was wonderful.

The ambiance, warmth and hospitality offered by The Cottage are equalled only by the excellent food and beverages offered, each carefully selected, prepared and served with extraordinary care. This was my most enjoyable Valentine celebration ever! I look forward to future visits to The Cottage.

Dear Martha & Jean-Michel... Our stay with you was so wonderful!! Thank you so very much for the warmth, lovely conversation, enchanting gardens and fantastic meals! After Bill's cousin left following lunch, Bill and I just lingered in the garden area and walked your lovely home again. We really enjoyed ourselves! Even tho we have been vacationing here in FL since January 15th, our days have been hectic! Spending the time in your oasis gave us the time to slow down and relax! Lunch was superb! Thank you for your time even tho you were off for your exam! We KNOW you passed with flying colors!! I've bookmarked your site for a visit/stay next year. We've secured a condo here again for 2 months, so we'll plan another visit with Bill's cousin again and stay with you! Please use any of our comments on your site...we'd be proud.
