  • Il Silvermine Tavern (c1810) era in origine una fabbrica di cotone, parte dell'industria dell'acqua alimentato lungo il fiume Silvermine. Più tardi una casa privata e quindi una destinazione Inn e oggetti d'antiquariato, la taverna è stato che ospita i viaggiatori e servire bene cucina nuova Inghilterra dal 1929
    Il portico anteriore del taverna è un bel posto per rilassarsi in una sedia a dondolo e visitare con gli amici o guardare il mondo andare.
    Cenate all'aperto in primavera, estate o cadere sul ponte albero all'ombra lo stagno del mulino per pranzo, cena o il famoso buffet brunch della domenica.
    In inverno, è possibile cenare da un fuoco di legno duro e assaporare l'arte popolare americana e manufatti che adornano le pareti
    Il nostro accogliente camere romantiche, sono arredate con pezzi d'antiquariato autentico. Alcuni hanno una doppia o queen size beds baldacchino.
    Silvermine è un posto meraviglioso per una fuga romantica.

    Dal suo scricchiola pavimenti in legno e dipinti venerato predecessore alla suo tradizionali New England ospitalità e antichi baldacchino letti, la Silvermine Tavern è tutto ciò che dovrebbe essere un country inn: caldo, amichevole, invitante e pieno di fascino. Non si può costruire una locanda del paese con carattere come la nostra. Devi dargli tempo. E che cosa ha fatto il Silvermine Tavern in un posto così speciale che non si desidera lasciare il tempo – 200 anni di storia che di essa – è. Racchiuso da una cascata di un mulino tranquillo laghetto, la taverna serve ai suoi ospiti delle opinioni più serene e rilassante nel Connecticut. La posizione di periferia tranquilla dista pochi minuti dal mangiare bene e attrazioni di South Norwalk, New Canaan e Wilton.

    Girl's weekend...12 years overdue!!

    My childhood friend and I decided to meet half-way between both of our towns. I live near Philadelphia and she lives near Boston. I came up with Norwalk Conn. and then found this wonderful B&B. The owner was our guide to everything that weekend...what a bonus! There were so many antiques in this place, we will have to go back many times to really take all of it in. What a wonderful time my we had and many memories where made. We needed the break and what a relaxing way to spend it, at the Sivermine Tavern. Also, there was an antique store across the street that was full of wonderful pieces of history too! We will be back for sure...my husband wants to go next time! I'll think about it:-)

    An historic disappointment

    As adventurous and intrepid travelers, we've stayed at more than a few "venerable" B&Bs over the years, and so were intrigued by this one. Unfortunately, the Silvermine fell way short of our expectations. The website photos gave no hint of the shabbiness we encountered, which extended to our room, where the paint was literally peeling from the woodwork, disgustingly so. The place smelled sour, too. The overall experience was as dispiriting as it was unacceptable. To state what should be obvious, being 200+ years old is not a license for neglect! It's sheer chutzpah to expect people to pay good money for such rundown, ill-maintained lodgings. There was one good thing about our stay: its brevity.

    Thanks for your comments. I see the paint problem that you’re talking about; I appreciate your bringing it to my attention. It is at the top of the To Do list and already underway. Maintenance is a constant effort in an antique building like ours. While we do our best to keep up, sometimes problems get overlooked. A fresh pair of eyes can spot things that have been overlooked. Most guests tell me how much they enjoy our setting by the mill pond, tree-shaded deck, historic neighborhood and many antiques. I hope you’ll return for another visit and have a more rewarding experience at Silvermine.

    great historic place

    The river behind was great to walk by and see the beautiful homes nearby. If you like feeling history, this is the place to stay. The innkeeper knows much history about the area as well.

    Norwalk Stay

    My daughter was moving to Norwalk CT. for her first job after college and I wanted to stay someplace special that had all the charm of new England rolled all up into one place. She loves those kinds of places rich in history so I didn't tell her where we were staying. What a beautiful setting nestled away down a New England road in the gently rolling hills on the old miner’s creek with all its dams and ponds. Such a surprise for her when we got there after driving 6 hours, quiet, charming full of history. Spent much of the next day relaxing and taking pictures. First time there but won't be the last, loved it!!! Paul and Diana (Roch. NY)
