We stayed last weekend in the only room that had 2 beds. However, the staff had not made the room with 2 beds, so we had to wait while the room was remade. Nice room, no TV, and clean bathroom with good shower. The dining room fare was touted as being great, but was only OK. It was a little pricey for the quality and not worth the price. I'd eat somewhere else next time. Staff was nice and welcoming.

Quaint spot right on the small main street of Amador City. Great people and service. The rooms with the balcony look right down the main street although you get a tad bit of road noise in the morning, but not so bad. Clean and full of character. We ended up staying an extra night.

Truly enjoyed staying here for our most recent trip to Foot Hills wine country. Our room was nice, but not near as nice as others we saw that were already reserved. One has to remember it's a 1870's building. Wonderful food. Lovely patio and bar. Would definitely stay there again.

We were surprised at how quiet it was - considering that it was a Saturday night. Great folks/staff.

A girlfriend and I met from different directions in the Hotel Imperial, Ca for a few days of wine tasting. We selected the Amador Inn location as it's very central and only 15 minutes from Plymouth,Ca and the Shenendoah/Steiner Rd vineyards. The bar is quaint, the patio and indoor dining areas lovely, the food excellent. The rooms have high ceilings, natural light, comfortable beds. The entire staff friendly, helpful and always there when you need them ! also the two resident cats are friendly and visit with you often.

My 3 girl friends and I had a wonderful stay. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the rooms were quite pleasant, with an appropriate antique-style decor. Dinner at the hotel was lovely and the included breakfasts were great. We would definitely return.

Running an inn in the Gold Country can be a challenge. Just look at all the other establishments that have come and gone over the years. But the owners of the Imperial have learned how to strike the right balance that delivers superior value to their clientele. There may be nicer places to stay with better food (The Hanford House in Sutter Creek has just been remodeled with a new restaurant) but there's a certain charm to staying in an old, historic building that's been allowed to age gracefully. The staff at the Imperial are friendly but not gushing, the breakfasts are tasty without being pretentious, and there's even a couple of friendly inn cats to greet you in the lovely back patio space. All in all there's a reason the Imperial has hung on while others have not. They're definitely worth a try if you're out that way.
