    Perfectly situated in Downtown San Buenaventura, and just three blocks to the Ventura Pier and Boardwalk along the sea, the Victorian Rose, a newly renovated 1888 Gothic church, offers fireplaces, private baths, some with jacuzzi tubs or an outdoor patio. Afternoon refreshments and breakfast are served in it's sanctuary surrounded by 26 foot high stained glass windows.

    Delightful Sty

    I stayed in the smallest room (be warned, the bathroom is not connected; it's a few feet away, right off the dining/entertaining area, so it might be awkward if the place were full of people you don't know). That said, I had no problems with it and I think the room is great--it has both a stained glass window and a door to a private deck outside. I love the fireplaces that come on with a switch, and the remote-control heating was easy to regulate. It was about a ten-minute walk to the beach, which was fine with me, as I love walking. Dozens of stores and restaurants are an even shorter walk--just a few blocks away. The owners were great, very accommodating, and the breakfasts were excellent. I went there to write and it worked--I got a lot done--and I will most likely go back. -A.C., Pasadena, CA

    First Bed and Breakfast stay

    Wonderful place! My boyfriend and I happened upon this place completely by accident and decided to stay when we heard it had a history of being haunted. We stayed in the Victorian Rose room which was beautiful! The owners, Richard and Nona, were wonderful hosts. They had live entertainment Saturday night with appetizers and wine! The breakfast they served was delicious. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of the building. We will go back soon!

    A little quirky

    The inn keepers were very pleasant. This was the most unique B&B we've stayed at and was a good location & walking distance from downtown. Noise from the streets was a little loud and no curtains on the windows made for bright light in the early morning, but a comfortable bed. Not spotless, but clean.

    Thank you for staying with us and finding us "pleasant". Our first and upmost concern is to provide service, comfort and a personal connection. Concerning the bright light in the early morning, the only rooms without curtains are the ones having original ll2 year old stained glass windows that are opaque and cannot be seen through. If curtains were to be placed on those walls, the rooms would have a "heavy" look as the stained glass is quite prominent in size. The consensus has been that the stained glass windows are an amenity that most people didn't have at home and enjoyed what they had to offer as they change color at different times of day.
