    Luxurious Italian inspired estate set in the Redwood Forest w/pool, gym, stable and riding arena. Ridge top, ocean and forest views, colorful gardens abound. Guests can choose to venture out into the wilderness on the Skyline to the Sea trail,hiking, biking, or horseback riding; or just relax in the luxurious setting of the Villa. The saltwater pool is placed inside the forest perimeter enhanced by a lush garden landscape of local flora and vibrant flowers. Finish a memorable day around the fire pit under the stars. At Villa Montagne we've given special attention to equestrians and lease trail horses in addition to providing stabling for guest horses. Skyline to the Sea trail crosses the estate surrounded by coastal redwood forests and State Park lands of Big Basin, Castle Rock, Portola and Butano State Parks providing direct access to miles of riding and hiking. The Villa is also a great staging area or destination for equestrians camping at Rancho Del Oso. The Woodlands Garden Cottage 1bd/bath, sleeps 4 complete with living/dining room, kitchenette, with windows overlooking forested canyons. Or stay in the Villa guest rooms adjacent to the Billiards and Theater Room. There is a saltwater pool for cooling off after a warm summer day. Breakfast is served overlooking Monterey Bay. Equipped with a solar array, local well, organic garden and recycle program we are an ECO tourist resort. Breakfast includes farm fresh eggs, a selection of organically grown fruit and fresh baked muffins from organic ingredients. All other items are made with natural or organic ingredients. The private estate is completely secluded behind a locked gate located in the heart of California's Santa Cruz Mountain wine region. Our neighbor at Big Basin Vineyards provide a selection of organic wines and can accommodate private wine tastings upon request. The vineyard also hosts the amazing Shakti Yoga Shala with drop in practice 3 days/wk.

    Best place for hiking Big Basin Redwoods and Castle Rock

    We stayed in the Cottage for three nights. The day after the evening we checked in we hiked Big Basin Redwoods Park, and the day after that, Castle Rock. Those two parks comprise the best sampling of the Santa Cruz mountains, and this B&B is equidistant between the two. The breakfasts were great and kept us going for our hikes. The place was very private and the room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. Connie attended to our every need and was very helpful with local information. We could watch the sun set over the Pacific right from our patio. We loved Connie's garden, and Carley and Doug added a lot to our experience.

    Quaint B&B in Boulder Creek

    We stayed here one night on the way to Santa Cruz for a wedding. It was a very nice experience, cozy couches with a home theater, nice breakfast, hiking at your doorstep. A perfect getaway near the bay.

    Mini-vacation in Big Basin

    My wife, daughter and I stayed a Villa Montagne for two nights at the end of May, 2011. We arrived late in the afternoon and were met in front of the main house by Connie and her extremely friendly Rottweiler, Carley, who showed us to the Woodlands Garden Cottage. The cottage was spacious, comfortable and very clean, and had great views out the front and back. The cottage is attached to an extremely spacious exercise room which included a Bowflex home gym. That afternoon we walked about a half-mile down the Skyline to the Sea Trail, which is just a short distance from the property. In the evening we cooked our dinner in the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen, and then headed over to the main house to watch a movie in the Theater Room, which allowed us access to 400 movies. Connie had mentioned earlier that she would be taking a yoga class the following morning and invited my wife and daughter to come along with her. They did, and they enjoyed the class immensely. Afterwards, Connie brought us fresh fruit and muffins, and the food was delicious. We spent the remainder of the day at Big Basing Redwoods State Park, which is just a short drive down the road, and Byington winery and vineyard, which is easily one of the most beautiful wineries I’ve ever visited. I should mention that a highlight of our stay was Carley, the owners’ Rottweiler. Carley visited us often at our cottage and stayed with us while we watched movies. My daughter fell instantly in love with Carley, and we all felt like Carley did her best to make us feel welcome.

    Villa Montagne is very secluded and private. Scott is an excellent cook and we enjoyed our evening with them, great food, good wine and interesting company. Connie went above and beyond when I forgot my cell phone charger...she mailed it back to me the very next day.

    We love to share stories with our guests from the years we have lived in the area and our adventures in Wyoming. Scott and Carly (the villa's dog) are certified in search and rescue and as a wilderness first responder. Scott is the house chef and sometimes our evening entertainment with his guitar. Connie spends her time as a horse trainer with a gardening habit, previously a ski instructor. She now provides trail guiding services with her four quarter horses along with managing the BandB.

    A Terrific, Peaceful Getaway

    Villa Montagne is truly a gem. I wanted to plan a surprise weekend away for me and my husband but I was a little behind in my planning. Thank God that there was an opening at Villa Montagne. This is a great value for anyone looking to get away and be surrounded by peaceful mountain landscape. The grounds are beautiful and the pictures don't do it justice. We were immediately greeted by Connie & Scott's friendly dog, Carly. We loved hanging out on the patio chatting with another lovely couple that were staying there that weekend. Scott is an excellent chef so I highly recommend eating in. Their prices are very reasonable given the quality of the food. And the homeade muffins in the morning were so delicious. I am a big supporter of organic sustainable living so it was impressive to see Connie pick the spinach for our salad and strawberries for our breakfast right in her backyard. Connie and Scott have created an exceptional getaway that I would highly recommend. There are LOTS of hiking trails surrounding the property which was another bonus! My husband and I had a refreshing hike the morning we checked out. It was a perfect weekend. We definitely plan to go back.

    4th of July

    My husband and I were very happy with our stay at Villa Montagne. We went with another couple over the 4th of July weekend. Myself and the other lady we went with were 8 months pregnant and she went into labor. We had to drive to the hospital and Connie and Scott helped us find a hospital and took care of our dog while we were gone. They were so hospitable and caring. It was a crazy weekend and Connie and Scott took great care of us and made us feel like family. They also cooked wonderful fresh food and immediately made us feel welcome. I would highly recommend this destination and know that we will go back.
