1 1/2 cups Amish Starter (flour,sugar,milk, 10 day cycle)
1/2 cup Milk
1/2 cup Oil
1/2 cup Applesauce
1 cup Honey
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 cups Flour
1 Large Box Vanilla Instant Pudding
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Pour starter into NON-METAL bowl. Do not use any metal baking or mixing implements throughout the process. Add eggs, milk, oil, sugar, and vanilla. Mix well.
In a separate NON-METAL bowl mix cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, salt, flour, and pudding. OPTION: Add 1 cup walnuts and 2 cups fresh cranberries.
Mix dry ingredients, optional nuts and berries into wet mixture. Mix thoroughly.
Grease 2 large NON-METAL loaf pans. Mix additional 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Dust greased pans with half of this mixture. Pour batter evenly into the 2 pans. Sprinkle remaining sugar and cinnamon mixture over the top.
Bake for 1 hour. Cool completely until bread loosens from the pan. Slice and serve. Recipe doubles well and freezes really well. Great for gifts.
