Alyce's French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch
Prep time:5 minutes
1/2 cup light cream or 1/2 & 1/2
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
6 Portuguese Sweet Bread Buns
Break eggs into large bowl. Add cream and vanilla. Beat with wire whisk til mixed. You should feel a slight pull on the whisk. Batter should be the consistency of heavy cream.
Heat a griddle to 345 degrees. Cut each bun in half. Brush some melted butter on the griddle. Turn each bun half back and forth in the batter til slightly wet. Place cut side on griddle and sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar. Grill about 3 minutes til browned.
Lift the browned half bun. Butter griddle lightly again. Flip the bun and leave on just til warmed through. Place two halves on a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with maple syrup. Yummy!!
