Warm Savory Cheese Spread: Appetizer-Snack

Servings: 6

Prep time:15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mayonnaise

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 1 lb bacon, cooked crisp

  • 1/2 cup green pepper

  • 1/2 cup sweet red pepper

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 Loaf of sourdough bread, uncut

Step 1:

In a large bowl, combine the first 8 ingredients. Cut the very top off the sourdough loaf and hollow out center of bread to form a bowl.

Step 2:

Reserve the center pieces to toast for dipping. Spoon cheese mixture into hollowed out bread bowl. Bowl will be "heaping". Wrap bread & cheese mixture in heavy foil.

Step 3:

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour and serve warm with crackers and sliced vegetables of choice. Celery, cucumbers and even cauliflower work well.
