de barra Lodge

  • Inn Details

Heading west into Rosscarbery, you’ll see a cluster of signs to the right off the N71 just before the bridge – turn right here even if you haven’t time to read them, as one of them is for Sinead and Dan Barry’s purpose built B&B, De Barra Lodge. It’s quite a large property as you approach, but broken up attractively into two sections, one stone and the other rendered; the two are joined by a glazed entry section, which gives the whole heart of the house a bright and spacious atmosphere. The style is subtle and low-key contemporary decor, with clean-lined modern furnishings. Bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms have every comfort, with all the little details that make a room easy to settle into when away from home – what you are effectively getting here is hotel standard accommodation at B&B prices. Breakfast is served in a very pleasing room, with an attractive rural outlook – and the Barrys are hospitable people who really want their guests to get the most from their stay.

We stayed at the de barra Lodge on the 16th and 17th September 2009. The location was lovely, the lodge and it's rooms were outstanding. Sinéad was very helpful on local issues and a great host. The rooms had quality furniture and fittings and I really liked the full bathsheet fluffy towels provided. If we go back to Ireland we will certainly stay here.
