    Our Stay at Thornton House

    April 26, 2010

We had the opportunity to stay at Thornton House twice. This was our first experience at a B. & B. The first time, we stayed at the house. Everything was outstanding, from the rooms to the service. We also thought the price was fair. The second time we stayed, there was a quilt retreat going on the same time as us going back to Lansing, Iowa. We were offered the cottage. We thought the price for the cottage was a bit high, ($50) more then staying at the main house. Especially, during the recession. We did enjoy our stay at the cottage. There was no food at the cottage, but we were invited to the main house for breakfast. We also liked talking with Frank, the Innkeeper. As an interior designer, the rooms were all tastfully decorated. You could tell that the innkeepers went above and beyond making sure that our stay at Thorton House/and cottage was met with our comfort in mind! Would we go back there? You better believe we would!!! Our ratings reflect our second stay. Cindy and John

    Wonderful

    February 06, 2009

The Thornton House just so exceeded our expectations. There just weren't any negatives at all. As soon as we walked through the front door we experienced this incredible welcoming warmth and it only got better. If you are headed anywhere in this direction don't miss this wonderful experience. We will be back again and again.

    The "Ultimate" in Cleanliness

    November 25, 2008

We have a home on the river in Lansing and suggest to all our visitors an experience at Thorton House. It might be a cliche' but several of our friends say "you could eat off the floors" it is so clean and seasonably decorated. Stop and visit Steve and Frank BEFORE you stay if you have any doubts. It is such a charming place.

    Trip to Remember

    August 25, 2008

Arrived by boat and was picked up by our host. We had a wonderful stay. Very clean and the hospitality was outstanding. We had the downstairs room with the outside screened in porch, how quaint. Recommend this B & B and hopefully we will get back. Thanks for making our trip with our good friends, one to remember! Chuck and Sharon Bellevue Ia.
