Making your photo captions count

Captions are a great way to help sell your B&B to future travelers. They also help travelers find your listing through search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Here are a few quick tips for making the most of your photo captions.

Be specific and clear!

Pencil Icon

Use the caption to give the traveler details about that specific space in your B&B. Include things like size of bed, types of linens, description of views, etc. The more details the better! That way when a traveler is looking at the photos, they know what they’re looking at.

Example: Ruby Sue Suite welcomes you with a plush king-size Tempur Pedic bed, with 1,000 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets and a cozy fire place.

Use keywords specific to your area

Using keywords about your city and the surrounding area can help your overall ranking with search engines, getting even more exposure for your photos. So when people search for Bed and Breakfasts in your city, your listing has a higher likelihood of showing up.

Example: Just steps away from Zilker Park in Austin, TX, Fun Times B&B offers bikes to all guests to get around.

Utilize all of the caption characters provided

Magnifying Glass Icon

Don’t let this space go to waste! The more detail you provide, the more travelers will be able to find and book stays at your B&B. And the more detail you provide, the happier they’ll be when they arrive and already know what to expect.

Example: The Sage Hill Inn Above Onion Creek is the perfect place near Austin, TX to hold your wedding or event for up to 150 people. We've hosted countless events in the Hill Country over the years and have recently improved all of our facilities.

Make it seasonal

Calendar Icon

If travelers are searching for summer vacations, it’s not the best time to highlight your B&Bs Christmas decorations. This also goes for the captions. Consider the time of year and plug certain activities when choosing what to showcase on your website or listing.

Example: View on front porch of the Snoopy B&B overlooking Lake Granbury. The lake is an ideal place for kayaking, fishing and stand up paddle boarding over the summer.
