Today’s article is a guest post from Gemma of Wanderable.com. Wanderable is a honeymoon registry site that helps couples fund their dream honeymoons through the gifts of experiences from friends and family.
Most couples staying at B&Bs are seeking a bit of romance, and honeymooners are certainly no exception. We’ve compiled some ideas for the innkeeper hosting a couple of new lovebirds and hope they will help you host the perfect honeymoon.
Make check-in special: Don’t miss an opportunity to turn a couple’s first experience at your B&B into a ‘wow’ moment. Many honeymooners will have their fingers crossed for a room upgrade, this of course will entirely depend on your policies and availability, but even a small gesture can make check-in special. Wishing them a “happy honeymoon” and offering a glass of sparkling wine or a welcome snack is a lovely way to break the ice.
Help them relax: We’ve seen that most couples choose to include spa treatments or a couples massage on their Wanderable registry. Depending on the availability of services at your B&B, you could offer in-room treatments, a discount to a local spa, or offer to help the couple book treatments with a trusted provider.
Encourage alone time: Honeymooning is all about giving newlyweds time to connect. Things like offering breakfast in bed or other in-room services allows couples to have more time to themselves. Honeymooners will love surprises or add-ons, such as champagne and strawberries or port and chocolate delivered to the room after dinner or at turn-down.
Personalize amenities: In addition to your standard bath products, you can include things like bubble bath and massage oil. While most B&Bs already offer bathrobes, consider having a few for honeymooners that have been embroidered with “Mr.” and “Mrs.” Even something as simple as a small vase of flowers on the nightstand with a note to the couple is a lovely touch.
Keep the magic going: Don’t just pile on the nice gestures at the beginning of the stay. We’d recommend spacing them out over the entirety of the stay. A farewell gesture of a few chocolates or a bottle of wine on a couple’s last night will help cap off the perfect honeymoon.
Many couples recommend places to stay to their friends and family, as well as return to the site of their honeymoon to celebrate key anniversaries, so these special gestures can help cement a great, lasting relationship.
