BedandBreakfast.com is the leading Internet marketing site for small, unique properties.  In the United States, the terms bed and breakfast, B&B, and inn encompass a broad range of lodging options, from private homes with two or three guest rooms, to country inns with 20 or more guest rooms and full-service restaurants, to big city B&Bs with guest rooms that have en suite kitchens stocked with breakfast foods, to small historic hotels.  Whatever they are called, most properties share these qualities, although there are exceptions:

·         Owner-operated

·         Independent; not part of a chain

·         Individually decorated rooms

·         Common area (living room, lounge, salon) where guests can gather

·         Breakfast is served

Because there is no single universal word for B&B, inn, or innkeeper,  here are our definitions:

  • "Inn is the general term that BedandBreakfast.com uses to mean B&Bs, gites, inns, guest rooms, etc."
  • "Innkeeper is the general term that BedandBreakfast.com uses to mean the owner or person who runs a B&B, gite, inn, guest room, etc."
