My property is not the United States. Can I participate?
If your property is in Canada, you can now accept BedandBreakfast.com Gift Certificates and Cards, but cannot sell them as of yet. We have been investigating the possibility of additional international participation in our Gift Card/Certificate program, but regret to report that so far, regulations in other countries are making it very difficult.
What's in it for me?
You make 20% on every sale — $20 on a $100 card, $40 on a $200 card, $100 on a $500 card. The rack takes up only a few inches on your shelf or table, yet can generate substantial sales with no prior purchase required. For the same space needed to display a single T-shirt or coffee mug, you'll have a revenue generator that will delight you and your guests!

What if I sell my own gift certificates?
Great! Continue to do so, but offer The Getaway Gift Card™ as an alternative to guests who need a gift for someone in another part of the United States. They'll appreciate the recommendation of a nationally known name that they can trust.
How do I get started?
Login to your Home Base, shoot us an email, or call 800-GO-B-AND-B. We'll ship you a starter kit absolutely free with everything you need to start offering the cards to your guests, including a display rack, directories, and promotional brochures.
How do I sell them?
You sell the cards directly to your guests like any other item. Whether you add it to their room bill or sell it separately, the choice is yours — no hassle, no fuss. You get the money immediately, just like any sale, or you can process the transaction on our website, with the customer's credit card, and receive your sales commission via Direct Deposit into your bank account within four business days.
What is the dollar amount, and do I charge tax?
The Getaway Gift Card™ can be sold for any amount the user chooses, from $25 to $2,000. And remember - no tax is charged on gift card purchases. Taxes occur when the recipients redeem them on a future stay.
Is there anything else I need to do to sell them?
At the time of the sale, before you give the card to the purchaser, login to your Home Base on BedandBreakfast.com, click the Sell gift cards link, and enter the order number and amount of the sale. The cards have no value until you've activated them in the system, and for security reasons, until seven days after they've been purchased. Remember, whether you process the sale and collect the funds from the customer, or you let us handle the credit card processing with the customer's card, you must log into the Sell gift cards page to activate the gift card and print a receipt for the customer.
What about a receipt?
Once you've activated the card for a specific amount, the system will generate receipts for you and for the purchaser. You must give a receipt to the purchaser along with the card. Because the card doesn't have a specific amount printed on it, the receipt is the consumer's proof of purchase. You will need an Internet connection for every transaction.
So how does BedandBreakfast.com get its portion of the sale?
When you activate the card, you can choose how you handle the payment, based on what's best for you and your guest.
- Process transaction on our website with customer's credit card: To pay with your guest's credit card, click the radio button marked Charge Customer's Credit Card. We will then charge them for the gift card in the full amount you've specified, and will deposit your 20% commission into your bank account, which must be on file with BedandBreakfast.com. For example, if the card purchase is $500, we will charge the guest's card $500, and deposit a $100 check (via direct deposit/electronic funds transfer (EFT)) into your bank account within four business days.
- Process the gift card sale at your inn and complete the activation on our website: To pay with the credit card you have on file with BedandBreakfast.com, click the radio button marked Charge Innkeeper's Credit Card. We will then charge your card for 80% of the sale. In other words, if the card purchase is $500, we will charge your credit card for $400, leaving your $100 commission.
To participate in this program, current bank and credit card information must be on file with BedandBreakfast.com
Are there any other benefits?
Sure are! No need to worry about complex accounting issues or state regulations. If BedandBreakfast.com processes the sale, there's no fraud risk. BedandBreakfast.com handles all of those issues. Your B&B also benefits by being associated with the leading B&B website, BedandBreakfast.com.
What do you mean by a "non-denominated" card?
Unlike gift cards sold in retail stores that have a $50 or $100 price printed on them, these non-denominational cards have no set value until funded by the customer. When a guest purchases a card, they may purchase the card in any amount, from $25 to $2000. You'll give them the card and a receipt for the amount paid.
Does The Getaway Gift Card expire?
No. Just like BedandBreakfast.com Gift Certificates, these cards never expire.
What if the cards are stolen from my property before I have sold/activated them?
The Getaway Gift Card™ has no value until activated in the system, and you have NO liability for lost or stolen cards. Nevertheless, if something happens to your cards, please email Support@BedandBreakfast.com or call 1-800-GO-B-AND-B (1-800-462-2632) so that we can remove those numbers from our system.
Can cards be used immediately after purchase?
No. For security reasons, there is a seven-day waiting period after purchase before a card can be redeemed.
What if a guest loses a card after it's been purchased?
We are sorry, but BedandBreakfast.com cannot be responsible for lost or stolen cards, once you have activated them.
What if I sell all my cards?
When you have sold 15 of your 25 cards, we will automatically send you 25 more cards. Of course, you are always welcome to contact us prior to that for a larger supply.
Can I charge a service fee?
No. The cards can be sold only for the amount credited to the card at time of purchase, as noted in our Terms & Conditions.
