In the old children's story, '' Stone Soup'', three weary travelers in need of food and rest come upon a small village only to find the inhabitants wary and pretending to be in need themselves. The travelers convince the villagers they can make a soup out of stones. Enchanted by this marvelous claim, the villagers gradually contribute the food they had hidden away. Together, they make a wonderful soup and the whole village comes out to welcome the travelers with a great feast. Our bed and breakfast draws from the lesson of the story. We look to welcome new visitors to our city and have created a warm, friendly environment - a home away from home - where travelers can relax by a fire, share their experiences and sleep in comfort. Come join us and read the entire story in our library. Located in the heart of the historic Old Northside, the Stone Soup Inn offers all the beauty and comfort of an upscale turn of the century home. After stepping into the large foyer, relax by the baby grand piano in the living room or cuddle up with a good book in our library. All of these rooms contain beautifully detailed woodwork and hardwood floors. Breakfast will be served in our distinctive dining room or, weather permitting, on the large, wraparound porch. On the second floor, share stories with other guests in the sitting room or outside on the spacious balcony overlooking the front garden and Lilly pond. Decorated with a combination of Mission-style and Victorian-era antiques, guests will find a comfortable, convenient place to stay as they explore nearby historic sites and downtown attractions.

Had a great stay. The welcoming atmosphere, clean and authentic style and wonderful hotel owner/manager (Tom) really made my stay in Indianapolis fantastic. I will certainly stay here again next time I visit Indianapolis. Tom is the best and they'll take great care of you at Stone Soup Inn!

I was on a quick in and out trip to Indianapolis to attend a funeral and my stay at Stone Soup Inn was a comforting respite in the midst of chaos. The house is beautiful, the host was gracious about the fact that I'd forgotten about the time difference and needed to update my arrival time, and my room was much more spacious than I expected for one of the least expensive rooms at the Inn. I appreciated the healthy breakfast options that set me up for another long day of driving on my way home. My only regret was that I didn't have time to lounge in the public spaces or on the porch and enjoy a good book or walk around the historic neighborhood.

The rooms were amazing. Some of the lofts would be hazardous for older people, but they're very cool. Breakfast was delicious. We'll definitely be returning.

We found this delightful spot after navigating many one-way streets and after that, the ambiance allows for total relaxation. We love period places and this property transports you to the early 1900's with antiques and formal pictures of your great great grandfather who will live on forever on the walls. The home is totally air conditioned during the hot weather, very neat and clean with numerous lounges and public areas. Off-street parking is plentiful and the host is entertaining.
