The White House on Park Avenue

If you want to have a slice of heaven you must try the White House. We both need a place to recharge or life and this fit the bill. The house was beautiful and relaxing. We ordered the fruit plate It just hit the spot after a long drive. The room was prefect. The breakfast was prefect ending to our stay. I just can't wait to return to White House. If you are planing to being in Indiana the White House should be on the top of your list

The interior of the "White House" seemed to glow with the warmth of a fire, though none were kindling in the fireplace at the time of our stay. The wood work is nothing short of art! We were happy not to be overwhelmed by Victorian clutter. The common rooms are furnished in a way that invites guests to sit, relax, read, visit, or whatever. Sally and Fred are friendly and gracious hosts. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was delicious! made more enjoyable by the comfortable, yet elegant dining room.

We stayed one night in October. The hosts were welcoming and made us feel right at home. Our room was spotless, cozy, nicely decorated, as was the whole house. Its in a quiet residential area. We would stay there again if in the area.

My 13 year old daughter and I delighted to find every aspect of the White House so well done! Staying here made our Mother/Daughter Night Out extra special!

Beautiful Victorian house, gracious and friendly hosts, gorgeous bedroom, amazing breakfast - what more can you ask for? We were on the last leg of a week-long road trip, and this was the perfect ending. We'll definitely be back here the next time we pass through Indiana.

I spent 2 nights in Fred and Sally's lovely house. It was certainly better value for money than staying at any of the local hotels. It's really nice and quiet, and although Rensselaer doesn't have much of a variety of places to eat the few that are worth the visit are in easy walking distance. O yes and thank you Sally for the lovely breakfasts, I was treated like a king.

Stayed two nights at the White House on Park Avenue August 2012. WOW! What a gorgeous place! Comfortable beds, clean as a pin, quiet and elegant. Breakfast was scrumptious too. However, the best part for me was meeting Sally and Fred, the most accommodating hosts you'll find anywhere. These folks are the kind of people you want to have as your neighbors. Attentive, interesting and gracious. Truly lovely people. What more could you ask for? Stay here once and you'll throw rocks at the chain hotels from now on!

Had a thoroughly delightful time. The innkeepers were pleasant, helpfuland uninstrusive. The wine and cheese plate was delightful. A definite bargain. Lovely house. "Downton Abbey in Indiana." Thank you.

I reserved a room for two nights at this wonderful B & B for my visiting sister and brother-in-law. They were thrilled with the wonderful Rose Garden room, the delicious breakfasts, the general beauty of the entire place, and the graciousness and warmth of Fred and Sally Berger, proprietors. They remarked that it was really the most beautiful B & B in which they had ever stayed. Thank you, Fred and Sally, for giving my family members such a positive and memorable experience!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay. The Bergers are excellent hosts, and the room was comfortable and cozy, and we loved our breakfasts. We also love the way the rest of the White House is decorated. I would highly recommend a stay at the White House.

My wife and I spent a night at The White House on Park Avenue on our way to Wisconsin. We usually prefer a bed and breakfast to a hotel and found that Fred and Sally do a B & B right! They welcomed us and made us feel right at home. They were very detailed and knew how to really care for their guests. My wife has several food allergies and they were so gracious in providing her a breakfast that she could eat. We would definitely recommend The White House and will stay there again if we are ever in the area in the future.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a couple nights for our summer vacation. We stayed in the Bird's Nest room. It was quaint and cozy, but too small of a room for my fiancé. We wish there are more pictures on the B&B's website so we could see all aspects of the room including how far away the bathroom was from the bedroom. Beside that little hiccup, the rest of our stay was fantastic! Sally's breakfasts are phenomenal! She made a meal with yogurt-tini which has blueberries, honey, apples, and walnuts: it tastes delicious. My fiancé and I looked forward to breakfast everyday. Fred and Sally are hospitable, friendly, and respectful. The house is beautiful. We enjoyed our stay and we look forward to visiting them again.

This is my second stay but the first with the new owners. Sally and Fred provide an outstanding B&B experience. Delicious breakfast and the rare opportunity to stay in an amazing historic home. The room was well appointed and the freshly made cookies a welcome treat. It made my 35th High School reunion even more memorable. Cannot wait to come back. I shall not wait for the 40th reunion to return to the White House on Park! It is clear how much they enjoy the house and sharing it with others. We had a wonderful 2-night stay at The White House on Park Avenue. When asked about our breakfast preferences, I said that I was trying to avoid carbs but that I would adjust my eating to their menu and did not expect it to be the other way around. Nevertheless, the afternoon before our second morning, Sally Berger made it a point to inquire what I would like to have and what I would probably not eat. I really appreciated this and also felt good about the fact that food would not be wasted. Both Sally and Fred were very gracious and my husband and I are looking forward to our next visit there. I am hoping to take my granddaughter there before the end of the summer.

This was the first time I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, and what a great first impression! I can's say enough about The White House. It was so beautiful, yet homey. Everytime I walked around the house I found something new and beautiful to look at. It was so peaceful. The hospitality was exceptional. Fred and Sally are so friendly and interesting to talk to. The breakfast was delicious, especially the yogurt tini and orange frech toast. Yum! I look forward to returning.

The White House offers a wonderfully, warm, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, and Sally and Fred are the epitome of gracious hosts. My family and I always enjoy our stays here and highly recommend this venue.

We stayed there recently after a Purdue game. The room was very nicely furnished and very comfortable. The bed was great! The cookies and breakfast were delicious. We enjoyed a great dinner at a local restaurant in Rensselaer. Would love to come back again.

Our stay in the Bird's Nest was very quiet and restful. We loved the homebaked cookies, the breakfasts were delicious and the house was very comfortable. It was also close to the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Preserve where we watched thousands of sandhill cranes -just an easy 30 minute drive North of Rensselaer.

I arrived by car within the time bracket specified by the White House's website and parked under the porte cochere and was soon met by Sally Berger, who had been giving a piano lesson inside. She showed me the room I had chosen (the Rose Garden) and was even amenable to allowing me a different room, if I wanted it. The Rose Garden room was clean and decorated, I think, according to the White House's period--late nineteenth century. "The quiet won't bother you, will it?" she asked. For this business traveler, who would drive on to Chicago the next morning, the promised quiet was golden and did in fact happen. Just as important for me was that the bed was firm. Fred Berger, who appeared a bit later, and Sally later asked my preference, slightly early, for a time for breakfast and delivered (including french toast and bacon) perfectly the next morning in the White House's exceptionally pleasant dining room. I wanted a departure--a relaxing one--in an establishment off the beaten path and unlike the chains and found it at the White House in the good care of Fred and Sally Berger. W. D. B.
