    Perfect Getaway

    October 30, 2012

My partner and I wanted to escape the busy city and relax for a couple days. We did just that... Scott and Victoria were amazing hosts, the rooms were spotless and had everything we needed. Our mornings were filled with nature watching, delicious homemade breakfasts and hot coffee. I couldn't ask for a better midwest weekend getaway.

    Amazing location and outstanding service!

    June 19, 2012

My husband and I spent two nights here the beginning of June to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was peaceful, clean, and well managed. Victoria is an amazing cook and both Scott and Victoria were wonderful hosts. Their personalities meshed well with our own and we enjoyed visiting with them about their lives and the bed and breakfast they run. Victoria presented exquisite breakfasts both mornings, as well as two delectable desserts each night we stayed there. What an amazing experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our time! Thanks, Scott and Victoria, for helping make our anniversary special!

    Natural Relaxation

    June 10, 2012

We chose At Home in the Woods for its location and beautiful setting--an easy getaway from Chicago, close to the Indiana Dunes, wineries, and (I have to admit) shopping. We were looking for some place special to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and we certainly found it. Innkeeper Scott and Charlotte the beagle gave us a tour of the lovely home and property, and we immediately settled in. Highlights included Victoria's delicious desserts, the wonderful breakfasts, birding discussions with Scott, meandering through the woods, and soaking in the hot tub. We look forward to visiting again.

Thanks for the great review. Victoria & I (Charlotte too) enjoyed having you here. I too had a good time discussing birds and I'm glad we were able to help you identify that young male Oriole. I too learned something new. Can't wait to see you again on your next visit. It was fun getting to know both of you.

    Wonderful Retreat

    April 30, 2012

My husband and I were traveling to Chicago and wanted to spend a quiet, peaceful evening before heading into the city. At Home In The Woods was all that and more. We were greeted by Victoria and the wonderful smell of homemade chocolate cookies. We had reserved the smallest of the rooms (the Grand Canyon Room), because we were only staying one night, and found it to be just perfect. We had plenty of room and really enjoyed the wonderful view of the woods from our bathroom window. There was a nice fireplace, which we turned on in the morning before we got up. We enjoyed the short hiking trail and the gounds, which are lovely with swings & quiet little areas for everyone. Everything was so nice & clean. The details that Scott & Victoria provide, from the homemade goatmilk soap, big fluffy towels, and the soft silky 800 count sheets, to the fabulous gourmet breakfast makes this Bed & Breakfast such a wonderful experience. We highly recommend At Home In The Woods!!

    Would recommend

    February 17, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for a Valentine's weekend getaway. We chose this B&B for the proximity to the Dunes, Chicago (we took the train into the city for an afternoon), and a few breweries we wanted to visit. I was quite impressed with At Home In The Woods. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The food was incredible—especially the homemade breads and scones. The couple who owns the B&B were gracious. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone visiting northern Indiana.

    Innkeeper Response
Thanks for choosing to stay with us. We know there are other places to choose from so we appreciate your business. Next time you are in the area come and see us again. I'ld love to hear about your newest brewery adventures.

    A Home Away from Home

    December 18, 2011

We have stayed at AHITW multiple nights now and my wife and I are avid visitors to Bed and Breakfasts. Scott and Victoria have created one of the most welcoming B and B's we have visited and we have made it our home away from home. We are both teachers so we need an occasional getaway and AHITW is not to far, but perfectly located to shopping (Lighthouse Mall in Michigan City) as well as the amazing wineries of SW Michigan. We were able to travel between 8 different wineries within 30 minutes of AHITW. Add to all this the amazing breakfasts that Victoria makes and you have the B and B total package! The rooms are clean, warm, and have great amenities (like the Smokey Moutain steam shower for weary muscles). The views of birds and other wildlife are wonderful. We look forward to using the hot tub next visit. Great value, location, food, and quality. Give At Home in the Woods a couple nights and I know you will agree. Andrew K.

Victoria and I are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Getting to know both of you has been a pleasure. Thanks for sharing the picture of the owl you spotted coming up the driveway. We look forward to your next visit. Merry Christmas!

    Very cozy - Great value!

    August 15, 2011

The owners were very welcoming and helpful. They even lent us thier umbrella when it started to rain for our outdoor event. Everything was spotless and suitably decorated for the setting. The only element which was below our expectations was that the bed in the Grand Canyon room was not as firm as we would have preferred, but still acceptable. They had homemade gifts available for purchase which we took back to our dogsitters. Our favorite parts were the wonderful whirlpool in the room and the very delicious breakfast the next morning! Would definitely go there again and recommend it!

    A great getaway!

    May 19, 2011

My husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend, and we picked the best place to do it! Scott and Victoria made us feel so welcome. Out room was very cozy and comfortable. We haven't slept that well in a long time! The breakfasts and nightly desserts were unbelievable! We definitely felt spoiled. We will definitely go back! We made sure to get Victoria's cookbook; can't wait to try some recipes out at home! Wonderfully relaxing!
