We have stayed at AHITW multiple nights now and my wife and I are avid visitors to Bed and Breakfasts. Scott and Victoria have created one of the most welcoming B and B's we have visited and we have made it our home away from home. We are both teachers so we need an occasional getaway and AHITW is not to far, but perfectly located to shopping (Lighthouse Mall in Michigan City) as well as the amazing wineries of SW Michigan. We were able to travel between 8 different wineries within 30 minutes of AHITW. Add to all this the amazing breakfasts that Victoria makes and you have the B and B total package! The rooms are clean, warm, and have great amenities (like the Smokey Moutain steam shower for weary muscles). The views of birds and other wildlife are wonderful. We look forward to using the hot tub next visit. Great value, location, food, and quality. Give At Home in the Woods a couple nights and I know you will agree. Andrew K.

    Innkeeper Response
Victoria and I are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Getting to know both of you has been a pleasure. Thanks for sharing the picture of the owl you spotted coming up the driveway. We look forward to your next visit. Merry Christmas!

The owners were very welcoming and helpful. They even lent us thier umbrella when it started to rain for our outdoor event. Everything was spotless and suitably decorated for the setting. The only element which was below our expectations was that the bed in the Grand Canyon room was not as firm as we would have preferred, but still acceptable. They had homemade gifts available for purchase which we took back to our dogsitters. Our favorite parts were the wonderful whirlpool in the room and the very delicious breakfast the next morning! Would definitely go there again and recommend it!

    A great getaway!

My husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend, and we picked the best place to do it! Scott and Victoria made us feel so welcome. Out room was very cozy and comfortable. We haven't slept that well in a long time! The breakfasts and nightly desserts were unbelievable! We definitely felt spoiled. We will definitely go back! We made sure to get Victoria's cookbook; can't wait to try some recipes out at home! Wonderfully relaxing!

A last minute decision, we decided to visit the Indiana Dunes on Saturday after graduating Friday night. I wanted to stay at a Bed and Breakfast to make the occasion extra special; I looked at some websites but did not make reservations. At Home in the Woods had an opening and we reserved the room from the Dunes Visitor Center. Scott & Victoria's home was warm and wecloming on a cold and wet spring day. Scott & Victoria were both welcoming but also gave us our own space. We had a delicious chocolate dessert for supper and were delighted with the hot tub in our room. The pillowtop bed was so luxurious. They have a delightful acreage filled with many birds and animals. Victoria's scrumptious breakfast was heavenly and the perfect start to a new day. I highly recommend At Home in the Woods; it isn't just a place to sleep at night, it is an experience in itself.
