My husband and I wanted a quick getaway, not too far from home. I've been hearing about how wonderful the Chestnut Street Inn is for many years, so I thought I would give it a try and I booked the Rosebud Room for a two-night stay. Dinner is not included in the room rate, but I highly, highly recommend staying for Monika's outstanding meals. First of all, the price cannot be beat. Gourmet dining this inexpensive is almost unheard of. Second, there simply are no words for how sumptuous the food is. Monika is an expert with spices and her food is highly reflective of her creativity. The food has a Moroccan flair, but she will accommodate anyone's tastes, diet restrictions, or dietary needs. There is no menu; her monthly menus are posted on the web site and it's easy to see what will be served on the night you are going to dinner or are staying at the Inn. Monika and Jeff, the innkeepers, are very, very gracious hosts and always available. We had no problems or glitches while we were there, but if we had, there is no doubt in my mind that they would have taken care of anything we needed. The Inn is cozy and warm and hospitable. The rooms are decorated with some antiques original to the house and some of Monika's and Jeff's family heirlooms. They have kept the original structure of the house while bringing the amenities into the 21st century. Our room was beautiful -- it has a fireplace and a separate room where we had the option to eat our dinners or our breakfasts. We loved the Chestnut Street Inn so much that we booked another long weekend before we left. I cannot recommend it highly enough!!

Wow - is there really anything else to say? Jeff literally welcomed us at their door, and gave us a very informative and nice tour of the home. We met Chef Monika who was preparing for dinner (anytime I saw her during our weekend, she was preparing for some meal or another!). We got to stay in the Rosewood Suite, which I doubt we will stay in another room - I absolutely loved it. Except the King bed, I know this sounds crazy, but it was ginormous! I kept waking up in the middle of the night wondering where my wife was, we always usually sleep so close. I think that might be my only "complaint". Anyone can see from the way they keep the home, how they treated us, and how we were taken care of, that they love this, and the genuinely care. I know that we will be back. The only concern I had with staying in this home, was LGBT friendlieness. I'm certainly not one to want and make people uncomfortable. I respect people's decisions to not support gay lifestyles, and I don't want to press my presence onto them and force them to tolerate me. It only ends with everyone being uncomfortable. Not only are they supportive, they are HUGE advocates - I never could have imagined we would be so welcomed in this small of a town, population less than a thousand. Yeah, and I'm not joking. This is worth every last penny, and then some. Jeff and Monika both make an amazing team. And what they have made out of the Chestnut Street Inn is far from "run of the mill". I have never had such a nice weekend. And sooooo quiet. The only knocks on the door we received were for food time, or when Monika brought us HOME MADE HOT COCOA as a special treat. Really, we didn't even ask. She over heard us mention it, and made it! Really....you're not going to get THAT in a hotel - I can promise you that. Truly, best weekend I've had in a long overdue time. My wife and I will absolutely be back.

In town to research my family history, Monika and Jeff were awesome! My family and I went over photographs in the dining room and enjoyed homemade, gluten-free scones. The Green Room was very cool and great to stay in if you are traveling with a friend. The next morning, Monika made gluten-free pumpkin pancakes that were out of this world. Highly recommended, very cool people and the highlight of my trip. I only wish I could've stayed longer.

Everything is top notch at The Chestnut Inn. Meals are gourmet, linens and heavenly, Monika and Jeff are most gracious and very congenial hosts.

We had a wonderful time there. The dinner was exceptional, with many fresh and delicious plates. Monika and Jeff are warm and friendly people, fantastic hosts. The suite we stayed in was spacious, and even had a separate breakfast room, if we desired. We elected to have breakfast in the common room, because we enjoyed the company of the other guests.

Not the first stay and certainly not the last, everything was perfect once again. Highly HIGHLY recommend dinner. I never needed the knife for my steak, and the food was wonderful. We already have our next stay planned!

What a nice anniversary surprise to arrive at Chestnut Street Inn for a delicious meal and wonderful overnight stay. It had been several years since our last visit and we can attest to everything being just as we remembered...Fantastic! Monica's meals are superb and the accommodations were perfect. Met new friends and enjoyed Monica and Jeff's conversation and attention to detail! They are the best!

The weekend with our friends in Chestnut Street Inn was a memorable one. From our lovely Rosewood Suite with a separate breakfast room, to an intimate dining room reserved for our group and inviting living room with plenty comfortable sofas, armchairs and a fireplace set a tone for a relaxing weekend. Plenty books and DVD's are available just in case the weather doesn't cooperate. There were pastries and coffee available at all times, as well as sodas and bottled water. At our celebratory dinner Monika's Steak Diane with a rich mushroom wine sauce was outstanding as was the rest of her culinary creations. The Inn is spotless and Monika and Jeff friendly and welcoming innkeepers.

With three other couples, we occupied the entire Inn over one recent October weekend. Some of us brought bicycles and enjoyed riding on the nearby Hennepin Canal trail. We ate two outstanding dinners (prepared by chef Monica with customized dietary accommodation for some members in our party), which are charged separately from the room. Brought our own bottles of wine which Jeff opened for a modest corkage charge. The Sheffield B&B Inn offers nicely-sized, traditionally furnished rooms and well appointed, large living and dining areas, plus a large garden patio. Since we lucked out on the late Indian Summer weather, the patio got plenty of use. Gourmet breakfast with a wide choice of fruit juices is standard here. .

My husband and I have been to many Bed and Breakfasts throughout 11 years of marriage and 5 years of dating. We never found one that was so amazing that we had to go back. Then we found Chestnut Street Inn last year and have been back again two times with many more planned. We can't go anywhere else because none of them compare. Jeff and Monika are the friendliest, most genuine and down to earth owners we have ever met. Monika has made some of the most incredible food for both dinner and breakfast that we have ever eaten. As a professional chef she makes homemade gourmet dinners and breakfast that would easily be served in some of the finest restaurants around. All we have to do is come downstairs to our own private table for two to enjoy. With one room that we recently stayed in (Rosewood room) there is an adjoining private dining room just for our room only with wrap around windows that we were served a gourmet breakfast at just steps from our bed. Their rooms are the most warm and inviting of any we have seen, and I think they have found the most comfortable king size beds and pillows made. Overall, Chestnut Street Inn is amazing in every regard. The owners, atmosphere, hospitality, food and surroundings are the perfect combination for a romantic weekend without ever needing to leave the house, which is very much our style. For those interested there are quite a few attractions within close driving distance, of which Monika and Jeff are very knowledgeable about. Definitely the best.
