Brightwood Inn is 4 minutes directly south of Starved Rock State Park. Newly constructed in 1996, and nestled on 14 acres of meadow within the confines of Matthiessen State Park, the Brightwood Inn was built to resemble a vintage farmhouse complete with a verandah and rocking chairs. The Brightwood Inn will provide you with a peaceful and luxurious stay amid the beauty of nature. In the morning the dining room serves a full hot complimentary breakfast to our inn guests. Being "Farm to Fork" the meals feature fresh organic herbs and vegetables from our gardens when in season.

My husband and I did a relaxing one night stay at the Brightwood Inn to kick off my Spring Break. Our room was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Perfect place to stay to visit our favorite state parks and do some wine tasting. Will definitely be repeat visitors!

The building is very beautiful. I loved all the little things that were around to make it special: movies to watch, soda, cookies, items with the logo, pictures from the area of the room name, and the list goes on. Thank you for making our 11th anniversary very special.

Was looking for a romantic weekend getaway for our 21st anniversary. Price was over what we wanted to pay for our weekend. But comparable to other B&B's. We really enjoyed our stay. The inn-keepers were friendly, as well as the others we met staying. Rooms are clean and neat. Breakfast was awesome. We look forward to going back in warmer weather, so we can enjoy the outdoors.

We had a wonderful weekend in the at Brightwood Inn in the Mackinac room! We started off with a very nice gift basket for our stay. Sharon and Kevin feed us some fantastic breakfasts. For Valentine's we were also treated to some homemade chocolate strawberries and handmade truffles. SUPERB! The Mackinac room was very nice. You are able to see the sunrise and sunsets from all of the great windows. The bed and sheets were super comfy and soft. We slept like a baby. Add in some eagle watching and ice waterfalls at Starved Rock, it was a perfect weekend. Thank you Sharon and Kevin for a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be joining you again.

Beautiful house, beautifully appointed rooms and very clean. Amenities are above average for a B&B - individual thermostats, Egyptian cotton towels, silky soft sheets & a fireplace in every room! Perfect location and just far enough off the main road. Nice common areas with a fridge & microwave for guest use, books and a vast DVD library. Breakfast was always an egg dish - maybe would have liked more variety, like pancakes or french toast one day - but Sharon & Kevin are very accommodating, so just ask. We love the Starved Rock area and when not camping, this will be our go-to place!

We spent a night at the Brightwood Inn over Valentine's Weekend and had a wonderful time. It was a quick, scenic(rural farm country) 1.5- 2 hr drive from Chicago. We were drawn to the Brightwood Inn after learning that they had a dog-friendly room. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the inn keepers and given a tour. Our dog had never been in a house so big, and she explored with excitement. We settled into the spacious Vieux Carre room, which is on the first floor with nice window view of the grounds and a warm gas fireplace. While in the area we explored Mathiesson and Starved Rock State park, and then enjoyed a relaxing soak in the huge jacuzzi tub back at the inn. Breakfast was simple and very satisfying consisting of eggs, bacon, scones, juice, and pancakes with a tasty elderflower syrup option. Throughout our short stay, we felt very at home and would love to stay at the Brightwood inn again when in the area.
