Riverview Guest House

I was lucky enough to spend a week at the riverside bed and breakfast. I was treated as a friend, not just a guest. It was one of the best experiences that i have had at a bed and breakfast. The hostess, Nita, makes her home warm and inviting to all that past through the doors. She provides more ammenities than any other b&b where I have stayed. There is an upstairs deck which overlooks a beautiful back garden. What a wonderful way to end a busy day -just sitting with a glass of wine watching the sun set. The house is filled with beautiful interesting antiques. I truly recommend staying at a place where you can feel at home no matter far you have traveled from your own home

Stayed here for a night away. Beautiful house with fabulous garden. Interior of house is very warm and welcoming. Lots of amenities. Hostess is very accommodating and friendly.

It's Nita who makes the visit so much fun. She has a great personality, great food, & lets her guests come and go. She knows the history of the Riverview and the River Historic District. I always learn (and laugh) at the Riverview Guest House.

Wonderful location in a leafy-green neighborhood. Nicely appointed rooms in a 100+ year old house. The best part was our friendly and gracious hosts who went out of their way to make our stay special and memorable.

Nice combination of 19th Century & 20th Century in neighborhood full of historic houses, peaceful shady gardens, friendly hostess, gorgeous & clever decor.

This is a very good place to stay, we only had a day to spend in Kankakee which is a shame as this is a very nice place to visit. Our host is very friendly and good to talk to, her home is full of a wide variety of treasures and interesting artifacts. As a guest you are made very welcome. The breakfast was excellent served on the patio were you can enjoy this charming surrounding. We are a couple visiting from the UK and we left pleased to have spent our time here.

I loved sitting on the porch overlooking the big oak trees and eating the most delicious peach french toast!

Our first time to stay in a B&B. The standard is set high from this experience. Greatly enjoyed the stay. Hostess, rooms & food are all exceptional! Can't wait to return.

The innkeeper was friendly and the breakfast she made for us was very much to our liking. A quiche dish with crisp bacon and a pineapple side. Recommend staying here if you are in the area and going to the Murder Mystery dinner at the Benett Curtis house in nearby Grant Park, IL.

We enjoyed our time at Riverview. The house was beautiful and well accomodated. An outstanding feature was that all material needs were met: plenty of food, plenty of towels, soaps, snacks etc... Nita was very friendly, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about attractions around Kankakee. Riverview is within walking distance of many attractions such as the river, restaurants, historic downtown and so on.

Absolutely lovely house and gardens! Nita was a great hostess and Chester was so interested in all that I did! My room was sunny and bright and very comfortable. I loved the bay window. Mary - San Diego

Our hostess was wonderful. She made us feel welcomed right away. She was very knowledgable of the area and even had a GPS available for our use during our stay. The house is gorgeous and the furnishing are authentic but still very inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary getaway.

Nita makes you feel like you are home. you have access to the entire house. Her breakfasts are outstanding!

On our way to visit our son in college we discovered this wonderful B&B. Our room, connected to the spacious and uniquely updated bath also allowed access to a "sleeping porch". Furnishings and decorations were carefully selected for function, design and visual appeal. The breakfast on the deck overlooking the garden in the shade of wonderful old oak trees was delicious. Our host was gracious and very attentive and made us feel like we were at home. Don't miss this one.

We had such a great stay at the Riverview B&B! The room was lovely and the inn-keeper has the BEST eye for color, style, and fun. "Vic(torian)Chic" understates the style in this B&B full of lovely antiques and funky contemporary treasures. A neat area, Kankakee offers lots to do. Enjoy! Wayne and Nan

The house is lovely, beautifully restored and decorated. Nita the owner could not have been more charming, helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were huge and delicious. I would always stay here when I am in town.

Nita went the extra mile to make our stay a pleasant one. It was my first B&B experience and I'm looking forward to the next time.

Great everything. Booked one night, and ended up staying 2. I felt at home right away.

Will stay again. The innkeeper went over and above for us, the house is fabulous, the house is filled with antiques, we found out she is a Designer and tried to hire her. had lots of fun and felt right at home.

The home- large Victorian - enjoyed the eclectic mix of antiques & modern - cheerful use of color, etc. Bed - confy jacuzzi a plus!
