Great place! Very clean, beautiful, and amazing food! Thankful!

My wife and I stayed at Mission Oak in back in December of 2012. We thoroughly our stay and plan on making a return visit. Denny and Jan are amazing hosts. The food was fantastic and the scenery was perfect. I highly recommend Mission Oak Inn, as it has been one of our favorite bed and breakfasts that we have ever experienced...

Denny and Jan have a beautiful home they openly share with their guests. The room was immaculate!! I notice minute details and this home far exceeded by expectations. Denny is a great cook for dinner and breakfast. Together they are wonderful hosts. Choose this B&B if you want a quiet relaxing get away. Only wish we could have stayed another night. We will be back.

Jan & Denny Reed are truly the best. Their B&B is outstanding. Wall to wall woodwork is breathtaking. Their overall hospitality was beyond compare. Denny is the best chef ever! Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

My wife and I had our second daughter and we'd been working and parenting and juggling schedules for seven months. My 40th birthday was approaching, and we wanted to get away somewhere in-state (Illinois). Mission Oak was so perfect for us in every way. The property is beautiful and secluded; the home is amazing; our room was excellent and we were able to relax! Highly recommended!

Lovely house, clean romantic rooms, welcoming gracious hosts, amazing food and beautiful yard. Will visit again soon!

Located on 120 acres and very off the "beat and path", Mission Oaks Inn was a great place to go and leave everything behind. The grounds are lovely! The room is a suite, with a fireplace and whirlpool that almost pull you in and call you to relax. We played games; we watched the hundreds of birds that clearly know who has feeders always filled up (:))); we did a wine tasting in the small town of Lacon 15 minutes or so away. Along with relaxing, we had our palates overflowing with Denny's great food. We were met at the door Friday evening (after a later arrival than expected) with dessert. We had cookies left in the room each day. And breakfast -- oh my. We love staying in B & Bs, and we've stayed in many across the US. BY FAR, this was the best breakfast we've had. The food is overflowing, the service is incredible (thanks, Jan!!!) and the talk while watching the many kinds of birds feeding and seeing the sun and clouds over the lake -- makes for a great morning. We also did the dinner package and helped cook Cornish hens and other goodies. We went home with leftovers, with a cookbook and a cutting board made by Denny in his wood shop, and with a sense of calm. We definitely plan another visit - as did countless others who wrote in the journals and/or on these review pages.

Stayed during the fall of 2012. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there. Absolutely LOVED IT!! Wish I could give it 6 stars. The hospitality is beyond outstanding, Denny is an AMAZING chef, and the accommodations were spotless. Look forward to returning someday.

We have visited Mission Oak Inn several times. It is always a great escape from the bustle of "real life". Like other reviews, we appreciate the accommodations and supreme cleanliness of the room and common areas. Denny's cooking is amazing, and if you stay here you really should eat dinner as well as breakfast at the Inn. We look forward to our next stay!

This was our second stay at Mission Oak Inn. Two night stay, just isn't enough. The lake is almost frozen over and so beautiful when the snow is blowing over top. I know the fish under the crest of ice are just waiting for ice fishermen. I cant say enough about the room amenities... the jacuzzi fits two so nicely, the house robes are massively comfy, the fireplace gloo'ing while in the bath or laying of the sofa or bed, the bed itself and bedding... first class in a warmth christian environment. Seven stars on the food.. we enjoyed the beef tenderloin, oh my was this delicious. The breakfasts - you just cant eat this good anywhere. Yes, we are fond of Mission Oak Inn, Denny and Jan but truly, this is a bed and breakfast worth staying at for the country warmth and feel, and a touch of class.

This B&B was beyond exceptional in every aspect! The room was special with a beautiful fireplace. The food was better than a gourmet restaurant. The innkeepers were so,friendly and interested in making our stay the best ever. We would recommend this B&B to everyone, and we plan to spend another weekend there in the near future.

I was tempted to #not# leave a review because I felt like we'd stumbled upon one of Central Illinois' best-kept secrets. (Yes, it's a quite a bit selfish.) But the fact is, Denny and Jan deserve every wonderful review. My wife, Kari, and I spent a fantastic weekend here---in a rainy December! (It wasn't even the best time of the year!) But let me tell you, Denny and Jan are the most wonderful hosts. Denny is also an excellent chef--we very much enjoyed is culinary creations! Their home is #immaculate.# Seriously, I would dare you to find a B&B or hotel that is this pristine. The whole properly is absolutely beautiful, and we were even here on a rainy and cool weekend. This is the perfect place for peace and quite and some well-needed relaxation. Do yourself (and perhaps your spouse) a big favor and book a weekend at the Mission Oak Inn. You will be so glad you did. We certainly were, and we'll be back again soon. Thanks again to Denny and Jan for a great weekend getaway.

We have stayed here twice this year and look forward to our next visit with Denny & Jan. There is so much we love about this place; it is always neat and clean, well kept, and a welcoming environment. Here, it feels like going to visit friends instead of just going to an inn for the night. Thanks for another great weekend away!

What made our stay special was the attention to detail and the care that we felt while we stayed. The food was phenomenal and the setting was secluded and peaceful. Our host and hostess were extremely hospitable and we felt like they were available for anything we needed.

Our 2 night stay at Mission Oak Inn was very relaxing: wonderful hosts plus very lovely room! Inn & grounds kept up nicely.

This was our third visit and cannot say enough good things about Mission Oak. Almost didn't do this because we would like to keep this our little secret. Denny and Jan are wonderful hosts, Denny is an A+ chef, the grounds are beautiful, and the room clean and cozy. Particularly enjoyed hiking around the lake and on the path through the woods while enjoying the beautiful fall foilage. If you want to get away from it all you will not be dissapointed.

Jan and Denny have created a paradise in their Mission Oak Inn. The establishment is beautifully decorated and immaculate. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was prepared to perfection, from the delicate honey butter to the stuffed french toast with fresh berries. We could not have been happier with our stay, it was just too short. We look forward to our next stay!

We can't imagine any way to improve our two-day visit to Mission Oak Inn. The property, both inside and out, is wonderful, and the hosts even top that! Denny's food is amazing, and my husband was heard saying several times, "I wonder what Denny's fixing next!" I have been there in the spring and fall and hope to come back to experience Mission Oak Inn in the winter as well.

Denny and Jan made our first experience with a B&B very memorable. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. We stayed here for a few nights after our wedding to relax and enjoy being newlyweds. Denny and Jan made us feel like royalty. It was a good thing we were no longer on a wedding diet because anything and everything Denny makes is beyond delicious. If you are looking for a quiet and secluded B&B with fabulous service this is the place to go. We are already planning a trip back for our first anniversary!!!

This was our 4th time we have visited for our Anniversary (9/3/12 - 9/8/12) and I wouldn't think about going anywhere else for our special occasion. We also visited a long weekend in July in 2011. It is very quiet and peaceful and the fishing is great. The food there is top notch, Denny is a great chef. We will be booking another stay in March & September 2013, a year is too long to wait to visit again. Jan & Denny are very nice and make your stay wonderful.

We just stayed at the most peaceful & beautiful B&B. Owners were so nice and accommodating.

What a great gift I gave my husband for Christmas. Used the certificate. What a great, restful day & night away for a retired couple who never go on vacations. My husband was in his glory fishing on the pond & catching fish -- no TV -- wonderful food & warm hospitality.

Mission Oak Inn is a must see-and-stay kind of place. I have heard people tell me about different bed & breakfast inns they have been to, but I bet they never stayed in a place like this. From the moment we arrived, Jan and Denny made us feel right at home. Very warm and welcoming. The room was absolutelyclean and beautiful with everything we needed to make us comfortable. And the meals (breakfast and dinner) were fantastic. No need to worry about going hungry here! The lake and surrounding property was serene and peaceful and, at times, breathtaking. They pay attention to detail in a way that appears effortless, and it's obvious they enjoy making everyone who stays here welcome. You can see it in everything this place has to offer. They even have information about other places and towns to visit, but if you want to stay on the property, you're more than welcome. Once you visit, I promise you won't want to leave! We will most definitely be back. Nothing but wonderful things to say about our stay here.

Leave your laptop at home and turn off your cell. Enjoy the solitude, a little r & r, and charm of this excellenat B&B. Denny and Jan are great hosts. Fishing is excellent-shhh, and will return next spring.

Wow! What an amazing get away from home! Let me just say that this is the most incredible, picturesque, extremely clean, outstanding service and the food was scrumptious. There is plenty to do and view on the property, not to mention all the nice things to do around Henry, in Princeton and Lacon. You will not be disappointed.

Who would have guessed that this treasure would be hidden just off a gravel road in rural Henry, Illinois? Leaving the cornfields behind and driving onto the property was like Dorothy leaving her black-and-white house and emerging into the glorious Technicolor of Oz. The property is absolutely stunning -- the tranquility of the lake, the vibrant colors of the flowers, the vigorous activity of countless hummingbirds, all suggesting the unspoiled beauty of the Creation as it was intended. The house itself combines the warmth of rustic charm with the indulgence of modern convenience. Everything is immaculate -- the room, the dining area, the common areas, the porch -- and the garden and lake are well-tended. The food is outstanding, artfully prepared and elegantly served. And the crowning feature of this gem is the gracious hospitality of its hosts, Denny and Jan Reed, whose openhearted friendliness (coupled with their skill and passion in what they do) make Mission Oak Inn truly unique.

We had heard such wonderful things about Mission Oak Inn and we were so excited when we finally got to go ourselves. The area is gorgeous and the house and rooms are so clean and beautiful. We loved looking at all the wonderful wood work. The food was some of the best we ever had. Denny and Jan are fantastic hosts. This was one of the truly relaxing B & B experiences we've had. There was no pressure to go anywhere. The rooms were well appointed and cozy. The inn is welcoming and surrounded by beautiful gardens and wildlife; the hiking trail and ability to fish the lake an added bonus. Jan and Denny are gracious hosts and the food is incredible. I'd love to come back during the winter. We would highly recommend this inn.

Denny and Jan are such gracious hosts. They truly want you to enjoy every part of your stay, and go above and beyond to make sure you do. The meals were unbelievably good- Denny even catered to my food allergies- far exceeding my expectations. The rooms and property were just as pictured on their website. This was our second stay at the Mission Oak Inn. We enjoyed being surrounded by nature. The fishing was good, the hiking trail was beautiful and we have never seen so many hummingbirds-just a few feet from the door of the Bird Lover's Suite! Of course the food is outstanding and the room was clean and fabulous!

My wife and I stayed here for four nights to get away from the city. The trip couldn't have been better, and it mostly has to do with our stay at Mission Oak Inn. Denny and Jan greeted us upon our arrival and showed us around our amazing room. It was extremely clean, big and chock full of nice bells and whistles such as a fireplace and jacuzzi bathtub. Each morning we were treated to a gourmet breakfast (one sweet and one savory item), delicious coffee, and even an appetizer. Denny and Jan shared with us all about wonderful things to do in the surrounding area, and also encouraged us to relax around their inn, which might have been the best part of the trip. The peace and quiet we experienced, plus seeing a wide range of animals including birds, deer, geese, fish, really made us feel as if we were worlds away from the hustle and bustle of our life back home in Chicago. Highly recommended to anyone interested in getting away, relaxing, and being very well taken care of by gracious hosts.

WOW - just got back from a VERY relaxing time at Mission Oak Inn! Denny and Jan were great hosts. The food was fantastic! (If you are planning to go, be sure to have Denny prepare a dinner for you.) We enjoyed the lake, hiking the woods, and doing a little cycling on the country roads. Our only regret was when check-out time came. If you ever need to recharge and reconnect - this is the place!

All of the food was wonderful and we left the table not wanting anything. The host provided wonderful conversation in addition to superior service. We have recommended the Mission Oak Inn to friends and family. We are already planning our next trip there.

Denny and Jan were the perfect hosts as they were available when needed but gave us the privacy desired. Denny's cooking abilities, explanation and tips were very well received. The setting, ambience and warmth of the Inn showed attention to detail plus the property design (pond, landscaping, porches and decks, etc.) was set up for the enjoyment of the guests. We will definitely visit again and were impressed by this charming B & B Inn.

Perfect two night stay which included breakfast and two pre-selected dinners. One dinner was in our room and the other was in the main dining area. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay. We will definitely go back. We also purchased a gift certificate for family members and will highly recommend this place to others.

Our recent stay at Mission Oak Inn was a delight! We enjoyed a leisurely walk as we drank in the peace and serenity of the scenic lake and nearby woods. Our spacious room was not only warm and inviting, but immaculate and tastefully decorated in a quaint, outdoorsy style. The gourmet food was definitely five-star and was as beautiful to look at as it was delicious to eat! Aside from all of this, the thing we enjoyed most was getting to know our hosts, Denny and Jan. The two of them are as warm and inviting as their beautiful inn and upon leaving, we felt as if we had made two new friends.

We enjoyed our stay at this Inn, nestled into the countryside, at the edge of timber. The views across the prairie (and the lake on the property) were lovely, framed by oaks and willows. The innkeepers, Jan and Denny, anticipated our needs, and offered us both company and privacy as we wished. We loved the company of a variety of birds and wildlife. The food was delicious, the Inn itself is beautiful, with gorgeous woodwork and lovely decor. We had a restful, fun time, and we'll definitely keep the Mission Oak Inn at the top of our destination list.

This is one of our top B&B's. Denny and Jan are outstanding host, and the inn very beautiful. The meals they fix melt in your mouth. They have gone above and beyond. Go expecting the absolute best, you will not be disappointed.

What a wonderful way to surprise my spouse for our anniversary "getaway" weekend. It is obvious that Jan and Denny love what they do by their hospitality and their attention to every detail. We appreciated the country setting where we found no reason to leave but only to relax and enjoy the peaceful nature of a beautiful fall weekend. Our next stay will be for two days instead of one.

What a peaceful place! Your room is so warm and inviting. You lay back and just say ahhhh...You start to relax. This is just the beginning. It just keeps getting better and better. Denny and Jan are very kind and make you feel like old friends. The view is breath taking and so peaceful. The inn is beautiful inside and out with the woodworking and decor with a homey feeling. The food is excellent beyond what you can imagine. You leave the inn with new memories and new friends with a big desire to return for another visit. You get that feeling that life is good.

This was our first visit to a bed and breakfast, and I am convinced that Jan and Denny and their Mission Oak in have ruined any future bed and breakfast experiences. Their hospitality and service were amazing. The room was beautiful, comfortable and immaculate. From the homemade lasagna dinner with made from scratch pumpkin praline cheesecake to the majesty of God's landscape to the relaxing whirpool tub and fireplace in our room, this stay exceeded any expectations I had of a bed and breakfast! The Mission Oak Inn is an awesome place to stay! My husband & I stayed there to celebrate our anniversary. We felt SO pampered! The food is delicious ... and the room is so cozy. We also enjoyed the walking trail through the woods. My husband did a little fishing, too. Mission Oak Inn provided my wife and I a very special experience- a romantic time together in spotless, beautiful accommodations! The home is lovely and exhibits wonderful craftsmanship in woodworking, wood carvings and charm. The home overlooks a pristine lake with wildlife for viewing pleasure. We enjoyed a hike through the fall foliage of their woods. The food was absolutely delicious and presented as a work of art! A special part of this memorable experience was the fellowship and new friendship with Denny and Jan. Jan is an outstanding hostess who does not miss any details. From her gracious attention to every need during a meal to her meticulous housekeeping, providing fresh flowers and plush robes in the bedroom, Jan is part of this special husband and wife team. Denny is an exceptional chef, very talented artist and craftsman and warm and gentle person. Our experience will be long remembered and treasured. God bless the Reeds!

Can't say enough good about our stay at Mission Oak Inn. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, the Inn so beautiful and relaxing, the food so delicious! Can't wait to do it all over again!

We stayed here for one night as part of a weekend getaway of various local activities. The house and the property are stunning! The lake is perfect - clean and well maintained, with plenty of fish! Denny and Jan make you feel like family and invite you to use their canoe or electric propelled pontoon boat for a relaxing time on the lake. We dropped a line in several times and caught several crappie and bluegill with little effort. It's very quiet and peaceful out there - a rare find. The Lodge room was very nice. Both rooms are separated and have private entrances and are very quiet. The whirlpool bath worked well. The bed was very comfortable as well! The gas for the fireplace was not turned on due to the abnormally warm weather, so we didn't get to try that. The robes were a nice touch and everything in the room was clean, fresh and modern. For the food, we chose to have the lasagna for dinner, which was quite tasty. The salad was also good. Denny uses fresh ingredients from the property where he can, which is very nice. The dessert of peach cobbler and pumpkin cheesecake was fantastic. Breakfast was even better. Instead of the usual french toast, we were treated to "puffed" pancakes, with caramel apple sauce - delicious. Also included was an egg and sausage quiche. Unlike some B&Bs, they offer you second helpings if you can find room for it, which is a nice touch. This is now our new favorite B&B for the food, lake and friendly hosts. We'll be back.

My wife and I spent our 1st anniversary at this wonderful place. The hosts were very friendly and the food was amazing! The pumpkin praline cheecake was out of this world! We decided to do a little fishing after we woke up in the morning and in 45 minutes we were able to catch two 4-5 pound channel catfish, one 2-3 pound bass and several nice sized bluegill from the dock. Maybe I should not review this place because as word gets around it will become harder to book rooms. This is truely an amazing B&B and one at which you should stay at!

This was our 4th stay and it was wonderful. It was a MUCH needed weekend away from everything going on at home. The place was very relaxing and confortable. The innkeepers are GREAT people that made our stay. The food is unbelievable, tried 2 new meals. We have already booked our Anniversary weekend next September and plan on returning in the winter. If you are looking for a place to go for a couple of nights just to get away from work and kids, this is definitely the place to go.

What a fantastic get-away. We couldn't have been more pleased with our decision to get away from the city for a day/night. The food was superb...don't think twice about ordering the dinner meal...it was fabulous! The room was private and oh so peaceful and comfortable. Denny and Jan were like being with old friends but were not intrusive AT ALL! One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at and we have stayed at MANY B&Bs all across the country! We just had our first B&B experience at Mission Oak Inn and absolutely loved our stay! It's such a peaceful spot to get away from the busyness of life and slow down. The setting is beautiful with the lake, abundance of birds, and flowers. Jan and Denny were very gracious hosts and we really enjoyed getting to know them. We especially appreciated all of the little details they thought of - cookies in our room each day, popcorn for a night snack, water in the fridge, extra towels for the whirlpool tub, and on and on! Our room was extraordinarily clean (which we greatly appreciated!). Breakfast was spectacular and the most delicious we've ever had. We also chose to have dinner one night and it was well worth it! We cannot say enough about what a great place Mission Oak Inn is to stay and we cannot wait to go back!

Mission Oak Inn provides a restful and relaxing setting, complete with a resident gourmet chef and the hospitality like that of dear friends. The Reed's home is beautiful, serene, and very clean. They have thought of everything in the amenities they provide to their guests and if you think of something you need, they will go out of their way to help you with your requests. This was our second stay and we were not disappointed. Our only regret is not going back to this beautiful setting much sooner.

We thoroughly enjoyed this modern B&B. The setting is beautiful with the lake and wildlife. The Bird Lover's room was perfect-tastefully decorated, complete with ammenities such as books, magazines, games and an Illinois bird book with binoculars. Denny and Jan were wonderful hosts-many good conversations. The food was so delicious, plentiful and creatively presented. We couldn't have asked for a better get-a-way & will most definitely be returning again!

Our Mission Oak Inn experience was "completely as advertised"! The house and property were unbelievable. Denny and Jan are experts in the area of attention to detail. Our stay there was the most memorable wedding anniversary get-away we ever had ... at least maybe until next year! Average cost for one night at a B&B about $140.00 ... a night at the Mission Oak Inn PRICELESS!!

Our first visit to Mission Oak Inn was absolutely wonderful. Friends had recommended the Inn and our experience was completely positive. Jan and Denny Reed are gracious hosts and very talented cooks -- we ate very well!! I'm certain that I am the least exprienced and qualified fisherman of our foursome, but I did catch the first fish and it was over two pounds -- what fun and what a treat. Can't wait to share this lovely location with our children.

This was our first stay at Mission Oak and it was wonderful! The property is amazingly well kept and the amenities are top notch, but what we will remember most is the genuine kindness and love that the innkeepers showered us with. My wife and I decided to take our first trip to a bed and breakfast and we settled on the Mission Oak Inn. We could not be more happy with the decision. It was beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable. The owners were very accomidating and tried very hard to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves. The food was outstanding and my wife bought their cookbook. We recommend this Inn very highly and are planning to return.

Mission Oak Inn B & B is a lovely, peaceful, and private place to get away from phones and the busyness of everyday life. We've been there at least 4 times and will be many more to come. Jan & Denny are the greatest! Friendly, and will visit with you if you want or let you have your privacy. We had fun fishing from one of their pontoon boats and caught some nice croppies and bluegills. Denny cooked them for supper for us along with coleslaw, baked beans, fresh veges, some of which were from their garden and other goodies. We also had his award winning Apple Cider marinated Pork, which was melt in your mouth delicious...and the cheesecakes... oh, my! Fudge Truffle is our favorite, but everything he makes is spectacularly yummy! Always a great time, even if it rains, they have games, movies and lots of time to relax and be blessed!

This was our 4th time staying here. Denny and Jan NEVER disappoint!! Will be going back again on June 10th. GREAT food, fishing and fellowship!!

We have been to a few bed and breakfasts and this one far exceeds them. It is a personal beautiful couple who create a masterpiece of tranquility and peace for your stay. It is heaven on earth.

We enjoyed the setting. The food was outstanding and the conversations very pleasent. Denny and Jan are very good hosts.

Usually a bed and breakfast has to be far away, but this was only 20 min from home and it was WONDERFUL. The food was fantastic - never before have we had to get a take home box b/c we couldn't eat all of our food. It was sooo good. We stayed in the bird lovers room and I kept jumping up to take pictures of all the birds that would come to the feeders. It was so relaxing. Everything was perfect. It was very clean and we really enjoyed having our supper with the innkeepers. We would definitely go back again and have recommended this B&B to all of our friends. This is one that everyone should visit.

All of our expectations have been blown out of the water by Mission Oak Inn. Jan & Denny were wonderful hosts, served delicious meals and have obviously put a great deal of thoughtful planning into what a B&B should be like. We stayed in the Bird Lover's room. Unlike other B&B's, the rooms have a private entrance. This room has a porch that looks out on their large lake. All the decor in the room was high quality, from the hot tub to the fireplace. They (appropriately) have bird feeders outside the door, so it's easy to watch goldfinches and woodpeckers gather each morning. And since the house is new and well-built, it's insulated against their chirping. We didn't notice any noise from the birds even right outside. We loved our time at Mission Oak and can't recommend it highly enough!

We had a wonderful time visiting the Mission Oak Inn again. The food was great, fishing was a little slow because of the weather, but the relaxing atmosphere was just what we needed. I would definitely recommend this place for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

We chose Mission Oak Inn by looking at their website. I knew right away we'd love this place. We stayed in the Bird lovers suite and found that it exceeded our highest expectations! We dined with Jan and Denny, enjoying the most wonderfully cooked dinner. Breakfast was also divine. We will certainly return again and again!

First time bed and breakfasters, and wow is all we both could say the whole time. Very nice place to relax and have a great get away. Breakfast was great and so was desert before bed. Will be back for sure in the summer to do some fishing.

Our weekend at the Mission Oak Inn was a perfect getaway. A beautiful 8-inch snowfall let us enjoy a snowy hike around the lake, as well as building a full-size snowman during our stay. It was wonderful to return indoors to a warm fireplace, cozy room and delicious food!

The thing we loved most about this weekend was the attention to details. There was a basket in the room that had a popcorn bag, hot chocolate mix, coffee mix, tea bags, and there were mugs to make drinks. The whirlpool had scents to put in it and it was the perfect size for two people. We lovd the fireplace and how easily you could turn it on. It provided a wonderful heat when you came in from the cold winter wind. The complimentary dessert was like something out of a homeade bakery. Breakfast in the morning was the best we have ever had. It was truely fantastic. The service was so warm and welcoming. The beds were comfy, the room was spotless, and the entire stay was just wonderful. We enjoyed going to the neighboring towns and visiting the town theatre, going to Julie's Corner Store to sample some of her famous fudge, and the Pizza Peel had the most amazing and great priced pizza we have had in a while. We had such a wonderful time here and will be saving up to return as soon as we can!

The Mission Oak Inn is a wonderful getaway! The food is AMAZING, and so are the rooms and the location! Denny and Jan have thought of every detail to be sure their guests have a restful and relaxing time away from "real life". My husband enjoyed a snowy tromp through the woods. Our anniversary is in December, but we want to try to come up with a holiday that we can celebrate in a warm month so we can go back and canoe on the lake and enjoy the outdoors more!

This stay was a surprise birthday getaway from my wife. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, and I was completely surprised by the weekend stay. We had a great time. Denny and Jan are great hosts. The meals were fantastic. The location was very peaceful, and the fall colors enhanced the stay. I have already recommended Mission Oak Inn to many of my friends, and my wife and I are already talking about our next stay.

From the moment we arrived till the moment with left, we were pampered to the hilt. Jan & Denny have mastered what a B&B is about, what is needed & how to leave a lasting impression that leads to returning customers & mastering the idea of one positive experience leads to 10 positive future recommendations. The layout of the B&B was perfect for us. We stayed in Bird Watching room, which is probably the best room of the two; of course that depends on each persons individual desires. The room sits on the North-west side of the house, it over looks the lake, has a private entrance & an outside open porch with seating for two. Inside all the amenities are there from a fire place, excellent whirlpool tub (designed with the guest in mind), bed, couch recliner, mini refrigerator, microwave, sm kitchen table for 2, awesome comfortable robes, bird watching materials & more. In addition, a television, DVD player & movies compliments of the host were avail, as well as internet access. We were greeted every afternoon with 3 awesome cookies. There are few B&B’s we have stayed at where the breakfast was a true compliment to the stay. The fresh seasonings & vegetables, home baked bread w/berries & apples from the farm & everything else that went into cooking from fillings in the eggs & dumplings to the warm touch of love that met our delight was beyond our expectations. We ordered dinner during 1 of the 3 nights of our stay. Although I was ill before dinner, I was able to eat a little of it as it was freshly presented to its feaster. The tenderness of the meat & the cheese mushroom stuffing which filled it was a fantasy to the palette. This B&B is one of the best we have stayed at yet. Although modest were our hosts they truly got it, understood what we needed during our stay and were very accommodating. Thank you for giving us what we needed, Best Kimberly & Chip.

Our 4th stay and everytime we return it keeps getting better. Not only does the inn continue to be well maintained but Jan and Denny have made upgrades to deck furniture and installed two new fishing piers and a campfire area. As for fishing, the fish are bigger than ever. The fishing, good food, and friendly innkeepers will bring us back again and again.

My husband and I visited for our anniversary earlier this year and had a great visit. We enjoyed walking around the lake and sitting downstairs to read. The room was very clean and comfortable. We didn't eat supper there, but the cheesecake for dessert was the best cheesecake I've ever had and breakfast was wonderful. Denny and Jan were wonderful to visit with as well. We can't wait to go back next year!

The fishing say's it all!! We had a wonderful time fishing and relaxed at the end of the day with a wonderful dinner. Woke with the best breakfast in the world and back out on their beautiful lake for fish that Denny even cleaned for us. Outstanding to say the least!

Beautiful Country Setting with a & acre Pond, fields and wooded arears. Fishing is GREAT with large bass and Crappie. But the best part is the food. Breakfast and Dinner are unparraleled . :)

The perfect bed and breakfast. Denny and Jan are so welcoming and friendly, and their attention to every little detail make this place simply amazing. Nestled in a quiet town in Central Illinois, this is anything but the ordinary bed and breakfast. The food was incredible and everything was so incredibly relaxing. What a great getaway from the stress and everyday busyness.

We first stayed at Mission Oak last December during an ice storm. It was wonderful...relaxing, a great get away. We enjoyed it so much that my husband suggested we go back for our 30th anniversary so we could fish also. We had a great time & caught lots of crappie and blue gill. Even some nice bass. The breakfast was excellent as was the sumptious picnic basket we had the night before. (The basket is a great choice if you are fishing, as you can have it on your time schedule) When we left our gracious hosts we booked ahead for our 31st! I've recommended it to several friends!!

This quiet bed and breakfast is a gem in the middle of central Illinois. The grounds are full of wildlife, and you can take a walk or a canoe ride on the lake to enjoy it. Wonderful, clean rooms with lots of amenities: TV, double-sided fireplace, board games, robes, and best of all, double jacuzzi tub. Innkeepers are quite pleasant and attend to whatever one might need. Denny makes a terrific breakfast.

This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast, and boy were we surprised! We haven't had such good food at most of the restaurants in Chicago, let alone expected it from a B&B! The room was beautiful, it was like having our own little residence for the night, complete with whirlpool and fireplace! I think our favorite part was watching all the hummingbirds at the feeders. There has to be tons of them, there were always two to three on the feeders, if not more (I think eight was the most we saw around just one of the feeders), there were always tons more flying in the trees! We definitely will return, but next time with our fishing poles! It was so peaceful and serene, the best getaway we could have asked for!

Mission Oak in far exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding as well as the room and service. We only drove an hour to get there yet it felt like it was thousands of miles away. We were in our own little serene world and it was easy to leave the cares of the world behind for the entire length of our stay. Jan and Denny were wonderful hosts. Denny's cooking was excellent and very tasty. Jan is a natural hostess and made it look effortless. I especially loved the scenery and watching the hummingbirds from the porch. Mission Oak Inn is the best place to find peace and quiet in a serene setting.

We had our second amazing stay at Mission Oak Inn this summer. The innkeepers took wonderful care of us! The food was great and it was everything we could ever ask for.

We celebrated our anniversary by staying at Mission Oak Inn one night and really enjoyed our visit due to the beautiful location, amazing desserts in the evening, wonderful room which was so comfortable and decorated nicely, and breakfast fit for a king the next morning! The small shops we visited in town the next day were also a great extension of our visit. Thanks, Denny and Jan, for a wonderful place to visit, amazing food, and great hospitality!

Great lakeside spot situated in the middle of quiet farm fields. Not a fisherman but can see why it makes a great location to do some angling. Wife and I loved the food and the inroom hot tub! For those who enjoy cycling this location is near some very nice "rails-to-trails" hiking/biking paths.

With only two days to honeymoon, we found this local B&B to be a great place to spend it. The room was comfortable and private, Kenny's food was fantastic, the lake with trail around it and fire pit was a joy, and the wildlife from hummingbirds to howling coyotes in the distance at night resulted a relaxing and restful vacation for two working professionals.

If you're looking for a quiet, clean, and peaceful place to sleep, then look no further. The Mission Oak Inn is a wonderful hidden little paradise situated on a lake full of blue gill and catfish. We were lucky enough to stay when four different families of Canadian geese where raising their baby goslings as well. There are all types of birds to watch from the bird lover’s room, most amazing to see were the hummingbirds. Or if you want to just want to sit back on the reclining couch and watch a good movie in front of the fireplace- you can do that as well. For breakfast we had cinnamon rolls, egg souffle', and lemon curd crepes and we still have the sweet taste of the crepes in our mouth 24 hours later. Not only is he a master craftsman but an amazing chef! All of the food was prepared and served with the utmost attention to quality and detail. We will definitely be coming back in future for more great conversation and relaxation.
