Hummingbirds arrive in May and stay through the summer. They are just one of the many varieties of birds you will see while visiting Hawk Valley Retreat.

Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages features ten secluded acres, a fishing pond, walking trail, and gardens. On-site massage and romantic dinner packages are available. Relaxed and quite setting; unsurpassed hospitality. Birdwatching and stargazing paradise.

The main area of the Somerset cottage offers a kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge, and sink. A propane grill is available outdoors. The cottage also features TV/DVD, wireless internet, full bath with two person whirlpool tub, queen sleeper sofa, electric fireplace, eating area, heat/air conditioning, private porch facing west for incredible sunset viewing. A parking space is located next to the cottage. Breakfast is served each morning in the main house.

The Fox Glen cottage is decorated in blue and burgundy, offering guests over 600 square feet of open space with king bed, corner double whirlpool, electric fireplace, TV/DVD, full bath with shower, fully equipped kitchenette, eating area, sitting area, queen sleeper sofa, wireless internet, heat/air conditioning, and porch with a propane grill. A parking space is next to the cottage. Full breakfast served each morning in the main house.
The Hillside is a studio cottage with whirlpool tub, fireplace, TV/DVD system, wireless internet, electric fireplace, small eating area, heat/air conditioning, and private deck. The kitchenette has a mini fridge and microwave. A propane grill is located next to the deck. A parking space is adjacent to the cottage. Breakfast is served each morning in the main house.
The Pines is a studio cottage with whirlpool tub, electric fireplace, TV/DVD system, wireless internet, eating area, heat/air conditioning, private deck, and queen sleeper sofa. The kitchenette has a mini fridge and microwave. A propane grill is located next to the deck. A parking space is adjacent to the cottage. Breakfast is served each morning in the main house.
The Woodlands room in the main house has a queen bed, dark rich furniture including a wardrobe and daybed, private bath with oversized soaking tub/shower combo, private entrance, wireless internet, mini fridge, and TV/DVD system. Breakfast is served each morning in the dining room.
The Garden Room in the main house features a queen size bed, TV/DVD, wireless internet, mini fridge, private entrance, and full bath with shower only. Full breakfast is served each morning.
The Swan Lake room in the house features a king size bed, TV/DVD, wireless internet, private entrance, full bath with walk-in shower only, and mini fridge. Breakfast is served each morning in the dining room.

My husband and I spent four nights at Hawk Valley and couldnt have been any happier! We have never been to a bed and breakfast before, so we were a little nervous about sharing breakfast with strangers, but we gave it a whirl and had a great time. Wendy and Hal (the innskeepers) are amazing and sweet people. The breakfasts were beyond awesome and filling. When we went to check in they were so easy to talk to and they gave us some great spots to visit. Now our cottage was down right perfect for what we wanted. We stayed in the Sommerset, and by far the most comfortable space we have ever been to. The living area was comfortable and had a flatscreen television with cable as well as an electric fireplace. We treated the cottage as if it was our own place, and respected that we didnt need fresh towels everyday, we like to conserve as well. Our cottage allowed us to see the sunsets every night and the privacy and quiet was wonderful. The bed was comfy and the whirlpool hot tub was amazing and relaxing. We booked a couple massage, which couldnt have been greater! Two wonderful massage therapists came right to our cottage and they were both outstanding! We also had the romantic dinner package, and let me tell you the food that Hal and Wendy cooked up was fantastic and plentiful. Needless to say we were stuffed and had left overs! The grounds were clean, and beautiful and the deer, wild turkeys, and all the birds were something we dont get to see all the time living in Chicago. And my goodness the stars at night were incredible. It looked as though you could pluck them out of the sky. The only thing that I would say was lacking was maybe a radio. I can not say anything bad about this place. The town was about a 10-15 minutes drive (which was beautiful and easy to navigate). There was a fishing pond, which my husband enjoyed, and the walking trail all around the grounds was perfect.

This place was amazing. We chose it for our very small intimate wedding. We had about 22 people who attended all family and they were all welcome and made to feel like Hal and Wendy's own family. The cottage was clean and perfect. They accommodate us in every way possible and made it a stress free enjoyable day for all. We will be coming back as Will our parents. It was exactly what we never new we wanted.

My baby sister had her wedding here today. She and the groom stayed in one of the cottages. The cottage was immaculate and well kept with lovely amenities. The wedding was very small, immediate family, and very simple. The innkeepers handled all of it for my sister. It was exactly what she needed. The innkeepers had exactly the right mixture of warmth and service. They made the day ALL ABOUT the family, while attending to every detail. They set a beautiful service for coffee, cake and lemonade after the ceremony in the gazebo with fabulous views. They were also very patient with the children in attendance. There were board games in the common areas that the kids loved to play with. My sister says that they were made to feel right at home immediately. I can certainly believe that as the rest of the guests did as well.

We stayed her for our anniversary. Once we got there, we didn't want to leave. The grounds were beautiful, and we enjoyed the walking trails even in the snow. The food was absolutely fabulous. We definitely plan on returning.
