This was our second visit to Farmer's Guest House. We were looking forward to our stay..But we were happily & pleasantly surprised by the attention that Don & Susan paid to their guests. They make you feel like family. My husband even mentioned he felt bad that we had to leave. That's how Great they are!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at the Farmers Guest House. We stayed in the Charlotte suite, which was warm and cozy. Susan and Don are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed their hospitality. Breakfast was great and the presentation was so pretty. This was a first rate B and B experience, we look forward to staying here again!

Farmers' Guest House was my wife and I's first B&B experience and it surpassed our expectations. We only stayed one evening this past weekend, but Don, Susan, & Charles were very friendly and hospitable. The Julia Suite was wonderful! The rooms were very clean, as well as were the common areas. Everything from the library (with books and games), to cookies and drinks, to Wine Time, to the amazing breakfast were wonderful! We will definitely be back!

We are frequent visitors to Galena, but had never stayed at the Farmers Guest House. We've admired it for years and finally decided to book a couple nights. What a fabulous place! From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed and at home. Our room was beautiful and cozy as well as comfortable. Breakfast was excellent both days. We enjoyed being so close to downtown. It was a 5 minute walk to Main Street. The hospitality was top notch and the entire guest house was impeccably clean. We were very impressed with the original hardwood floors throughout the house. What a beautiful, well maintained! We look forward to returning to soon!

The Farmers Guest House is a wonderful place to stay. Kathie and Jess make sure you have everything you need and they are a great source of information about the Galena area. We have stayed with them in the past and will definitely return in the future. The rooms are very comfortable room and the food is great.

My husband and I were first timers at a bed and breakfast, and we picked the right one to start with! We stayed in the Annie Lloyd cottage, very quiet and relaxing. Jess and Kathie were warm, welcoming hosts. The breakfast was delicious. As we drove away I asked my husband, "When can we come back?" I know we will stay here again!

We stayed in the Annie Lloyd Cottage behind the inn. Kathie and Jess have made the entire inn a warm, inviting experience. A delicious breakfast each morning. Kathie is very knowledgeable about Galena and has great answers to your questions. They were just finishing up decorating for Christmas and it really put us in the holiday spirit. It would be an excellent place to stay for couples or even a group. Town is a short walk so the location is very convienent. Thank you Kathie, Jess, and Charles!

Farmers' Guest House is a friendly, welcoming place with lots of room to gather with traveling companions and fellow guests. The rooms are charming and comfortable ( those of us with a Jacuzzi tub in the room found it very relaxing after a day of sightseeing and shopping!) Kathie and Jess treat you like family from the start and offer anything needed, from a warm robe to restaurant suggestions. We were a group of sisters there with our mom on her 80th birthday, but it is a great place for couples as well.

Farmer's Guest House was a spectacular place to stay. My husband and I never stayed at a B&B before- and we hit the jackpot with this place. The owners are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The breakfast is amazing and I plan on visiting again!

We had such a wonderful time celebrating our mini-moon (right after our wedding, 3 weeks before our honeymoon) here. We had the cottage all to ourselves and really enjoyed how cozy and welcoming it was! The wine and cheese each night at 6 is a delicious start to the evening, and breakfast was soo good and well-rounded. Jess and Kathie were very hospitable and sure to introduce us to anyone in the dining area while we were there. Also, Galena is lovely and gave us plenty to do and explore for three days. We highly recommend the Farmers Guest House to anyone interested in a weekend (or week) away in cozy, friendly accommodations!

Stayed in Annie Lloyd Cottage. It's plenty big and everything including the room was extermely clean. It's a nice little walk to downtown but it does include a hill and/or steps. Free cookies and pop in the main room were great. The rooms you can see on the site and they looked a little bigger in person in my opinion. Most rooms are upstairs and you will have to carry luggage up a fairly steep and narrow staircase so just be aware. There are no microwaves or refridgerators in the rooms which is common for B&Bs. There is a open fridge in the dining hall. The biggest suprise for me was the social aspect. They do wine and cheese at 6pm every night and it's not big (one white and one red with some crackers and cheese) but it was great to sit and talk with the others. Kathie sat down and was just a wealth of information about the town and was great to talk to. In no time we were talking with everyone and it was just more friendly than the last B&B we were at. Kathie and Jess are both extermely friendly and helpful. The breakfest was excellent but just be aware you don't have a wide varity of options. It's on the main road but unless you are right in front you won't hear anything. There are several places to sit near the gardens in back. Really nice property all around. Our bed was very comfortable. Cottage had a bit more wear than the pictures show but it didn't bother me because it was very clean and well decorated. In my opinion it would be hard to be this experience for a B&B in town.

Okay We stayed in the DePaul room and it was so neat and clean! The whole house is filled with cutie little pictures of all the guests that stayed there. The breakfast was good and the coffee was hot. The owners Jess and Kathie are so welcoming and very informative about all the happenings in Galena, Past & Present. So check out this comfy place you wont be sorry. Also take the path across the street and that is a short cut into town. We walked the whole time and did not have to fight for a parking spot on main street. Again we had a great stay, On every review we have done we have to tell everyone about Kathie's cookies in the dining area they are sooooo good! look in the rectangle White cookie jar. It looks like a decoration but it's not. They told us if you find it and its edible eat it. So we did, we had about 10 to 15 between the two of us Shhhhhhhhh........ Jess & Kathie make you feel at home from the minute you walk in the door. The breakfast is always homemade and delicious. Rooms are super clean and decorated just beautifully. We had a fireplace in our room. Very nice bathrooms and nice big towels. We've stayed there twice now, each time in a different room and loved both of them. We would not stay anywhere else in Galena.

this was the second year my granddaughters and myself enjoyed a fantastic stay with Farmers Guest House. we were in the cottage again and we loved it. The owners Jess & Kathie are wonderful, the breakfasts were wonderful. The other guests were so friendly , my two teenagers enjoyed the whole thing as well. Hope to go back for third time next summer

We stayed at the Farmers' Guest House for two nights. Kathie and Jess were pleasant and attentive innkeepers. We enjoyed their conversation and information about Galena. The unlimited supply of cookies was quite a treat! Each breakfast was exceptional and delicious. Our room was quaint and comfortable. The inn had a nice breakfast area and a great backyard with seating areas. Overall, our stay was outstanding and we can't wait to visit again next summer.

My husband & I stayed 3 nights in the Annie Lloyd Cottage. It was a charming cottage & just what we needed for a little R & R. Kathie & Jess were wonderful hosts, the breakfasts were yummy! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Kathie and Jess provide many little extras that made us really feel welcome. The full breakfast was excellent every day and they made adjustments for my food allergy. They are extremely helpful with planning what to see and do in the area and where to dine. The evening Wine and Cheese was delightful and other guests were great to chat with. I needed a relaxing vacation and would highly recommend the Camelot room.

My husband and I stayed here for a short weekend getaway and fell in love with the place and town. The value of the B&B was great with great breakfast and amenities. It was within walking distance to the town, shopping and great restaurants. We plan on making this a yearly event and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We stayed in the Annie Lloyd Cottage. Our hosts are wonderful people. They took great care of us and it seems as though they have thought of everything. The breakfasts were delicious and filling--my favorite was the Swedish pancakes!! The wine and cheese in the evenings, the never-ending cookie jars, and the fridge stocked with cold drinks were all thoughtful touches as well. We had a nice time just sitting and conversing with our hosts. We cannot wait to go back!!

We stayed in the Annie Lloyds cottage, located behind the main house. Very cozy and private with a large porch and great views. It was very quiet, we didnt hear a thing. We were shown around by Jess who was a very sweet man. He and Kathie brought us up a delicious breakfast, and offered complimentary beverages in the main house. Very nice people. We will be back.

My husband and I came back to Galena after about 9 years of our last visit. Our stay at the Farmer's was our first. We chose "Pete and Elenor's" room for my birthday stay and found it to very comfortable. Located right off the main dining area, it was accesible to the ice machine, the wine glasses, free bottle water, soda and treats that Kathie and Jess leave throughout the day for the guests to enjoy. The whirpool in suite is fantastic as well as an private door the outside. Kathie warm and geniune care allows for the guests to chat easily, as does Charles, their one full time employee who is on task making sure your comfortable! Located right on Spring street, the only minor complaint would be the rumble of the trucks, not so much noisy...just a heavy rumble as they cruised by....not enough to ruin our trip by any means. They have a plethora of DVDs to watch, as well as CDs. Kathie is very knowledagle about her town and will direct you whatever your pleasure may be..A super easy walk up the hill and then down to the shops, we did not drive anywhere parking our car and leaving it until departure.

My husband and I were absolutely delighted with our stay. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and above all, relaxing. We will definitely be returning when we have the opportunity.

The Farmers Guest House is a quiet, inviting place to stay. Very very clean, within walking distance to the shopping area of Galena. Snacks provided for you at all times during your stay, massage therapists will come right to your room for a relaxing treatment (extra charge), jacuzzi in the room which, many CD's and DVD's for you to choose from. This place is a must if you plan an overnight stay, Kathie and Jess have made their B&B so cozy, you feel like your home!!

We loved staying at the Farmers Guest House! Jess and Kathie and the rest of their crew are as warm and wonderful as any folks you will ever find. We would definitely stay with them again when we are in the Midwest. The guest house is chock-a-block with clocks, curios and nooks and crannies to visually entertain you. It is also within walking distance of the main street and all the great shops and restaurants in the heart ofGalena. Be sure to take the trolley tour to get your bearings and learn about all the history that the town has in abundance. Fritz and Frites and 101 Main Street are both highly recommended eateries and Fibre Wild is a top-notch knitting shop. In short, go to Galena. Stay with Kathie and Jess. Shop. Eat. Relax in a place that has escaped the harried pace of modern life.

Farmers' is the greatest place. Beautiful inside, great decorations, fabulous owners, great breakfasts, quiet, close to downtown Galena - well worth your time to visit. Priced right!

Excellent accommodations with a great location within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The wine and cheese in the evening was a nice touch.

We truly loved our stay at Farmers' Guest House. In fact, my parents and fiance and I all agreed that we would definitely stay at this B&B again, without even considering any other hotels/B&Bs in Galena. Jess, Kathie and Charlie are all so welcoming and personable. They have great, honest recommendations for anything you'd want to do, see, eat, etc. The atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. In fact, one night we all gathered downstairs and watched a movie in the common room. The breakfasts are great, and the wine and cheese every night is a great perk, too! My fiance loved the 24/7 fully stocked cookie jar. The hotel location is great. It's within short walking distance to all of the main attractions in Galena, and there's free parking, too. The rooms were wonderfully decorated, and so welcoming. We did not want to leave, and we'll definitely be back!

Several of my newly retired colleagues and I enjoyed a relaxing escape for 3 days and 2 nights with Kathie and Jess. Although our rooms with private baths were terrific, we chose to spend our down time in their homey great room. The comfy couches and movie selection kept us entertained and there were beverages and cookies available at will. The breakfasts were delicious - right down to freshly picked raspberries! We enjoyed looking at the antiques that decorated this wonderful B & B. It was truly a great way to celebrate a new phase in our lives. Thanks for your hospitality, Jess and Kathie! We found this guest house by pure luck and loved it so much we decided to stay for two nights instead of one. It's run by a lovely couple but the real star is Kathie who is so friendly and warm and makes you feel very welcome. The guest house is chintzy and quirky in a really lovely way. Each room is slightly different but with stripped floor boards, flowery wallpaper and gorgeous throws and cushions it's difficult to decide which one to have. The guest house is in easy walking distance of the town with access to canoe trips, bars, restaurants and shops. We loved it and would happily return any day.

Went to the Farmers guest house not knowing what to expect. It was great. From the endless cookies, which I did my share of challenging the word "endless", to the owners, it was probaby the most relaxed weekend I have had. We already booked another stay in December!

My family and I spent 3 nights in the cottage of the Farmer's Guest House in Galena, Illinois. The B&B was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The host Jess & Kathie were charming and exceptional hosts. The location was perfect for us, a little ways away from the hubbub of the shops downtown, but within easy walking and driving distance to all the sites. The guest were all very friendly and engaging. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit with our hosts and the other guests at the wine and cheese tasting every evening. The breakfasts were excellent - not overwhelming but very tasty. We do not hesitate to give this B&B our highest recommendation.

Farmers' Guest House has become our favorite B&B! The innkeepers are very nice and cater to your needs whether it be making dinner recommendations and reservations or giving you activity ideas. We enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese every night, the bottomless cookie jars, the dvd collection, and the breakfasts! Very cute B&B, comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, and an easy walk into the town of Galena. We've already recommended it to all our friends and family!! We will definitely return soon!

We celebrated our 5th anniversary with a weekend getaway to Galena....we had wonderful accomodations at the Farmer's Guest House. The cottage was so peaceful and serene. We enjoyed all the personal touches like the homemade cookies and DVDs. Kathie even provided us with wine glasses for our after dinner dessert wine! It was an anniversary that we will always remember and one we hope to duplicate many more times!

This was my first B&B experience and it couldn't be better ! We spend just one night but were immediatly feeling like at home, Kathie was the best host you can imagine and the place is lovely ; the breakfast was really good too. I highly recommend this B&B ! A visitor from France

We love staying at bed and breakfasts and find them all to have their unique qualities. Farmer’s House is one of the best. Jess and Kathie make this b&b delightful. They are so warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. We were in Pete & Eleanor’s Room which was an immaculate, huge suite with a fireplace, sofa, TV, etc., king-size bed, Jacuzzi, wonderful linens, and skylights. We are early risers, so we enjoyed the light coming into the room. Kathie is a unique decorator, and her love of family and friends is present in all rooms. My husband loved the filled cookie jars, and there were also complementary waters, pop, and snacks available at all times. Wine and cheese in the early evening was a treat. We also enjoyed the 5-minute walk to town without having to traverse the Galena hills. Breakfasts were delightful. We always like visiting with the innkeepers and other guests. Everyone was so nice. The first morning the entrée was eggs with salsa and the following morning we had the Swedish pancake. Both were served with fruit in yogurt, coffee cake, muffins, juice, coffee, etc. Very satisfying. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we can return to The Farmer’s Guest House.

Stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. Very nice B&B with great hosts. Arrived to the smell of fresh baked cookies. Breakfast each morning was so yummy. And we really enjoyed the wine & cheese reception each evening. Great location... just across from the start of Main Street shops. Just can't say enough good things. Our stay was perfect.

My husband and I have stayed at many B&B's over the years, and this was by far the best experience we have ever had. The room was gorgeous and perfectly appointed, and the owners, Jess and Kathie, were so welcoming and created an environment of fun and fellowship. Shortly after we arrived, they provided wine and cheese for all of the guests. When Kathi found out that we wanted to dine at a restaurant that recommends reservations, she immediately called the restaurant and we had a table when we arrived. This will be our B&B of choice when staying in the Galena area. Highly recommend!!

We went for a Girl's Weekend and this was the only Bed and Breakfast in the area that had a room with two queen beds. The rooms are clean and well decorated. The service is above standard and the breakfasts are great. They help with making reservation for dinner and directions to the local attractions. It's a block away from downtown, an easy walk to everything.

I recently spent a weekend at the Farmer's Guest House for a scrapbooking weekend. It felt like a home away from home. Jess and Kathie treat you like family and the food was fantastic. I can't wait to go back again with my husband.

We had a wonderful experience at the Farmer's Guest House in Galena, IL. Kathie and Jess put a lot to loving effort into the pleasant stay that we had. The room was nice, comfortable and well laid out. We stayed in the Camelot suite. The suite had a foyer that had a dressing table, a coffee and tea service area. The bathroom with whirlpool Jacuzzi was off of this room then the bedroom was just past the foyer. It was seperated by doors so I could go and use the whirlpool bath while my girlfriend slept in the bedroom. The breakfast's served were homemade and were really good. One morning we had a stuffed french toast the next morning we had a egg and cheese casserole. Both were really good. Also, they had yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, muffins, fresh coffee. At all times they had bottled water, some soda and homemade cookies and breads. It was a delightful place to kick back and relax. A perfect location near downtown so we could walk to all the restraunts and shops. I'll be back!

I would definitely stay at the Farmers Guest House on return trips to Galena. Jess and Kathie are very warm and generous hosts and share themselves so easily. I especially enjoyed sharing a glass of wine in the evening and meeting new people. Pete and Eleanor's room was very spacious, but you can hear the traffic all night and day; Saturday night was more quiet than Friday night. The Inn itself was very quiet and relaxing and I wish I had more than 2 days to unwind.

Kathie and Jess are excellent hosts and keep a wonderful b&b. I proposed to my fiancee in the Camelot Suite, so Farmers' will always be a very special place for us.

The inn was very comfortable and beautiful. The food was great, the rooms were very romantic and comfortable. The host of the inn, Kathie and Jess, were very friendly and accomadating and informed. I loved this inn, the ambiance is beautiful and it felt like home, very relaxing. Definitely would recommend to all.

We had a wonderful time. The suite we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. We loved the fireplace and the whirlpool tub. Kathie and Jess were very welcoming and nice. The breakfast in the morning was wonderfully good. We would like to go back very soon.

We stayed for 2 nights for a mini-honeymoon and stayed in the Annie Lloyd Cottage. It was a private and cozy cottage with a whirlpool and fireplace. The cottage was great and we wished we stayed longer. The inn-keepers were great and very accommodating. This was our first bed & breakfast experience and we loved it! We would recommend this inn to anyone that would be traveling to Galena!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Farmers Guest House. It was home away from home. Beautiful cottage, tasty breakfast, friendly atmosphere, and just a walk from the downtown shops.

Kathie and Jess provide a warm, inviting experience at the Farmers Guest House. They are knowledgeable about what Galena and the surrounding area have to offer visitors. The rooms are very comfortable with large, yet cozy beds. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, but they are very accommodating to personal preferences or dietary needs. At the Farmers Guest House, it is the attention to details that made this such a warm, relaxing experience. My only frustration was that the outdoor hot tub had a leak in it so we couldn't enjoy that as part of our getaway. This was our first B & B experience, but it won't be our last. Jess and Kathie set the standard pretty high for future experiences. Thanks!!

Food was great, everyone was extremely friendly. Rooms were very clean and charming! Plan on coming back next year. Could not have asked for more.

What a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. The Innkeepers are the best and are always there to help you with whatever you need to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We would definately stay there again.

I have enjoyed taking myself and my boyfriend here three times now. They always make our trip special and unique. We find that the service is beyond outstanding. They are incredibly hospitable and make your stay feel like you just came home. They provide delicious breakfasts and cookies 24/7 as well as have a wine hour which is more of a chance to meet interesting and wonderful people that come to visit this artistic community.

My wife and I were celebrating our marriage just a day earlier and we weren't too impressed. The innkeepers are nice and helpful but the food wasn't all that great. We were served eggs with spicy peppers that made us both sick all day and was not worth it. The cookie jar is great but save your money and find a better place. Just average.

The room was great, roomy, homey, comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. But the best part was the people. The owners, Kathie and Jeff, are perfects hosts. They treat you like family. Imagine warm chocolate cookies straight from the oven, just because we happened to be there. Other people there, Carol and Charles, were very personable also, and happy to make sure we had our needs met. We enjoyed the company of the other guests at the inn who shared their favorite sites and rerstaurants as well. We even shared a dinner out one evening with some of the other guests. All in all, a great place to stay for comfort and warmth.

Kathie and Jess were wonderful and made us feel "at home." Very friendly and helpful. Within walking distance to historic Galena, shopping and great restaurants. This is a wonderful place to go if you want to just get away for a night. The owners, Kathie and Jess, are so comfortable to talk to and such gracious hosts. The room was tidy and decorated so tastefully. We loved the jacuzzi tub being in our suite, that made it so romantic. Also , a great location, very close walking distance to the main street. My mom and I needed a mini vacation and we could not have made a better choice. We got to spend sometime together and even meet some wonderful new friends around the dinning room table. Jess and Kathie are wonderful hosts and I really cannot wait to have another excuse to go back.

My husband and I desparately needed to get away from the stress of everyday life and had heard from friends that Galena was great. I spent weeks of researching bed and breakfasts in the area and even called to speak with Kathy. It was definitely worth my time and effort because we such a great time that we extended our stay. We stayed in the Annie Lloyd's cottage which gave us a great amount of privacy yet we still could meet new people and sample Jess' breakfast delight of the day. The bed was wonderfully soft, the in-suite fireplace cozy, the in-suite whirlpool was relaxing and the "in-room" couples massages were phenomenal and economical. To boot the staff treated you like family. Kathy and Jess are great........... and we will definitely be back!!!!!

We stayed at the Farmers Guest House in Galena, Illinois for four nights in early April, 2009 in the Pete and Eleanor's Room. The Pete and Eleanor's Room is a two room suite right next to the dining room. It has a whirlpool tub and king size bed in the main room and a pullout queen size bed and fireplace in the other room. Each room had a TV and DVD player. Our kids used the pullout bed, which had a thick, queen-sized mattress with a pillow top that was as comfortable as any mattress on a regular bed. The entire inn was tastefully decorated with the most interesting items beautifully arranged in a pleasing manner. It had a rustic, cozy atmosphere to match the feel of the town. The inn had plenty of room to visit with other guests, or to hide and read a book in one of the sitting rooms. When we arrived, Kathie and Jess welcomed us like family. Throughout our stay, they seemingly anticipated our every need. They were very knowledgeable about the area and had brochures for all the highlights. The cookie jars were stocked, and the refrigerator had sodas and bottled water at all hours. Every evening at 6:00 they served wine and cheese with crackers - a pure delight! The breakfasts were sumptuous - we were so well fed that we never ate lunch throughout our stay (not even the kids). When it was time to go, we felt like we were leaving friends in Kathie and Jess, who were hospitable and kind without ever intruding. They made our stay a pure pleasure. Galena was to be a one-time trip for us, but now we'd like to go back just to stay at the Farmers Guest House. We've also recommended Farmers Guest House to all of our friends. It definitely exceeded all of our expectations.

My daughter and I went for a "girls' weekend" and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious, very clean and all amenities were provided. Kathie is a wonderful hostess. She gave us great suggestions for restaurants and shops, and she even made reservations for us. The location of the inn is perfect-walking distance to anywhere downtown. Breakfasts were plentiful and excellent.

We spent the night at the Farmers Guest House and was not disappointed in the least. We enjoyed a two-room suite with a private bath. Close to downtown (walking distance) where the dining experiences are varied and excellent. Jess and Kathie are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, a comfortable bed, a tasty breakfast, and some really nice touches (fresh baked cookies, water and soda, etc). If we could change one thing, it would be the parking - it's close, but on the other side of the highway. A very minor issue. All in all, we would recommend this B&B!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Farmer's Guset House in Galena, Illinois for a weekend get away and we WERE BLOWN AWAY! Words cannot describe the amount of joy and love we felt thanks to our hosts Jess and Kathie. From the moment we checked in we felt welcomed and right at home. The stay was wonderful. Farmers' Guest House is the cutest B&B I've ever visited. The proprietors Jess & Kathie are lovely and they've created a beautiful spot relaxation and romance. We were greeted with a wine and cheese happy hour and then walked to the nearby downtown for a delicious dinner at 11th and Main. The next day we went snowboarding and then recovered with a soak in the jacuzzi tub and an in-room couples massage. It was heavenly. I was sad to say goodbye to Jess, Kathie and their little piece of paradise. We can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary with a 2-night stay at Farmer's Guest House. The owner's, Jess and Kathie were so warm, friendly and hospitable. We felt right at home. Our first morning there we enjoyed coffee and conversation for 2 hours after a delicious breakfast. It was delightful. Jess and Kathie were very helpful with information about Galena. We can't wait to go back!

What else can I say? The Camelot Suite was absolutely wonderful. The decor is beautiful and my wife LOVED the miniature shoe collection.....very romantic touch. The front parlor adds a nice touch and the dressing table is gorgeous and also useful. The bath is compact yet very sufficient and the spacious whirlpool is very comfortable for two. Lastly, the bed is one of a kind; a wrought steel sleigh bed that is magnificent with an unbelievably comfortable mattress. Four windows in the main bedroom and two more in the parlor let plenty of natural light in, yet the custom wood blinds adjust for privacy too. And this is just the Camelot Suite! The rest of the B&B is tastefully decorated consistent with the period the structure was built. All the common spaces are very inviting and they just beg to be used. Several are stocked with goodies which we found to be a real treat. Jess and Kathie are very attentive hosts and were quick to help with anything we needed. The 6:00 pm wine and cheese tasting was fun and gave us an opportunity to learn some of the B&B's history from Kathie. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful; no going hungry at the Farmers Guest House. My only regret was that we could not stay longer! If you want to pamper and impress that special someone in your life with a quiet, romantic, and intimate getaway to a small town richly steeped in history, you cannot go wrong staying here. We stayed in the Annie Lloyd Cottage right after Christmas, and we loved every minute of it! Kathie and Jess went out of their way to make sure we felt at home, and the breakfast in the morning is to die for!!! My husband and I really enjoyed and can't wait to come back with our friends.

Kathie and Jess are the best hosts. They always make you feel so welcome when you walk in the door. We have been here several times before and always have a fantastic time. We stayed in the Annie Lloyd Cottage at the Farmer's Guest House. It was wonderful, we enjoyed every minute of it. The food was great! We loved the fireplace and jacuzzi in the cottage. A Five Star place for sure!!

Our stay at the Farmer's Guest House was extraordinary! Galena is such a beautiful and historic town there is always a new treasure to find. The Annie Lloyd Cottage is a gem on top of the hill located behind the Guest House. Two levels with a fireplace, an in door whirlpool and outdoor hot tub, I only regret I didn't plan to stay in the room longer. Galena is pretty anytime of the year but with snow and decorations the town is truly a Winter Wonderland. We were fortunate to have visited during the Night of Luminaria with 5,000 candles lining the sidewalks, river banks, bridges and parks. Proprietors Jess and Kathy saw to our every needs, served wonderful breakfasts and afternoon treats, and served double duty as volunteers to light the candles. Incredible decorations and amazing visual displays festoon the Guest House. You could spend hours just taking it all in. While Christmastime at the Farmer's Guest House has all the magic of a storybook holiday, I can't wait to go back in the summer or fall and spend more time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and wonderful accomodations.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Farmers' Guest House! We stayed in Annie Lloyd's cottage for two nights and then moved to the Pete and Eleanor Suite due to availability of the room. Both rooms were absolutely amazing. They were very well decorated and well-kept. The beds were very comfortable. The keepers of the B&B, Jess and Kathie, were incredible. They helped us to find great restaraunts in the area and recommended spots for other activities. We wanted to do some cross country skiing and Kathie, without even thinking about it, gave us the name of an outfiter in the area that could rent us the equipment. Overall, our stay was very romantic and we ate very very well the entire time we were in town. We definitely recommend this inn to everyone!

This was our first visit to a bed and breakfast and we loved every minute of it. The hosts were so personable and nce. The food was incredible and the accomodations were adorable. It was wonderfully decorated for Christmas and it was very close to downtown Galena. Can't wait to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Farmers' Guest House from Nov 21 to 24 of 2008. Had an absolutely wonderful time. Jess, Kathie, and Charles are just the best. The accommodations are tip top, and the breakfasts are delicious. Wine and cheese in the evening are a treat after shopping and walking around Galena. The unlimited cookie jars, along with soda and water, are also a welcome treat. Would definitely stay there again and would also recommend to family and friends. The conversations with Jess, Kathie, Charles, and all the other guests were delightful and informative.

We had the chance for a weekend getaway and even though the weather was cold, Farmer's Guest House was very warm and welcoming. We loved seeing all the Christmas decorations going up and using one of the hundreds of holiday mugs hanging on the wall. The breakfasts were yummy and it was nice to have continual access to cookies and water or soda. That's a nice touch. Our room was so full of wonderful details and we could tell how much love and care goes into Farmers Guest House. Jess, Kathy and Charles are friendly and helpful. Thanks for a nice weekend getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at the Farmers' House to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. We stayed for 2 nights with the Anniversary Pkg. that included wine, flowers, delicious chocolates, in-room massages and dinner at Fried Green Tomatos. Everything was great! Kathie and Jess are great hosts. Breakfasts were yummy and the complimentary cookies, pop & water are a bonus! We were able to walk to downtown easily and enjoy the sites. I would definitely recommend this B&B!!

We had a wonderful time during our stay with Kathie, Jess and Charles. They made us feel right at home. The Guest House was fun to explore, there was so much to see, the Halloween decorations were great. The 6:00 wine and cheese was wonderful, a chance to meet the innkeepers and guests. My husband particularly liked the never empty cookie jar. The rooms were decorated beautifully and were spotless. We will go back!

Farmer's Guest House exceeded our expectations.....it is a short two block walk to Main Street shopping and restaurants. The hosts, Jess, Kathie and Charles were extremely gracious and hospitable; they made us feel most welcome by offering delicious breakfasts, wonderful conversation, and extra amenities (6 p.m. daily wine and cheese, freshly baked cookies, complimentary water, pop, and coffee, a willingness to recommend and make dining reservations) in a most comfortable, very clean guest quarters. The decor is unique and seasonal. We definitely hope to make a return visit.

This guesthouse was exactly what I had expected after viewing their website. I loved the decor. The room was a bit small for the price but the breakfast was very tasty and the staff was very helpful. They even accommodated us when we wanted to carve our Jack-O-Lanterns in the backyard. The movie and game selection was great too.

This was by far the best B&B at which we've stayed. The breakfasts were delicious. The availability of water, soda, pretzels and/or cookies/sweet breads was an unexpected surprise. The wine and cheese hour was always fun and a great way to meet other guests. The "common" rooms were always available for relaxing and congregating with other guests if you desired and the crossword puzzles were a real common denominator among the guests. The innkeepers go above and beyond to make the guests feel comfortable and welcome. In addition, Kathie is more than willing to make dinner reservations, book trolley tours, or whatever you are interested in doing.

This was our second stay at the Farmers' Guest House, and it was just as good as the first. We stayed in Pete and Eleanor's Suite our first two nights and Annie Lloyd's Cottage the third night. Both are excellent. Both are tastefully decorated (Pete and Eleanor's is a little more country and old-fashioned feeling). P & E's is right next to the dining room, making it very convenient to get to the complimentary cookies and bread that are always available, and it is very spacious, also with its own private entrance to the outside. The Cottage is private and secluded in a wonderful setting surrounded by trees in the back. It has its own private decks. Both rooms were extremely clean, and you can control the climate in each. Both rooms also have a whirlpool tub, fireplace, two TV's and DVD players (in the bedroom and the sitting room area). The beds are comfortable with lots of pillows. I am pregnant, so a comfortable bed is a must for me, and I did not have a problem sleeping. The inn is very nicely decorated and clean. The breakfasts were fabulous, served from 8:30-9:30. We are late sleepers but did not have a problem getting out of bed in the mornings because we looked forward to the big breakfasts so much! They have an extensive DVD and CD collection for guests to choose from. They also have games and puzzles available. They have a refrigerator in the dining room with complimentary soda and water, as well as an ice maker. Wine and cheese are served each evening in the dining room at 6 p.m., and it's a great time to meet the other guests and talk. The inn is a short walk to downtown and easy to find. The best part about the inn is the owners, Kathie and Jess. They are extremely friendly and hospitable. They will call and make reservations for you, they offer advice on where to eat and what to do, and they are full of stories about the town and their own personal lives. They make you feel like family. We look forward to our next visit!

We didn't use our car all weekend. The breakfast both days was delicious. You're not going to want to leave...

We had a wonderful 3 night midweek get away in Galena. We enjoyed the wine and cheese every afternoon, bottomless cookie jar, wonderful breakfasts with the other guests, great jazz music collection, friendly and welcoming hosts Jess and Kathie made us feel at home from the start! We stayed in the "cottage" and it was perfect! Galena's many shops and restraunts and hilly neighborhoods gave us lots to do and explore.

We spent the weekend here to celebrate my mom's birthday. It could not have been a better experience! Kathie and Jess, the innkeepers, were absolutely wonderful! They went out of their way to make our stay excellent. They gave suggestions and made phone calls, making our vacation plans effortless. There was plenty of room to spend time as a family in the inn. The food was delicious, and included with the room was as much bottled water and pop as you wanted to drink. It was an overall wonderful experience. I would recommend this place, and hope to go back!

My wife and I went to Galena for a quiet weekend to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We had a great time at the Farmers Guest House. The Innkeepers, Jess and Kathy are extremely friendly and helpful. They make their Inn feel like they've just opened up their home-they treat everyone like one of the family. They have wine and cheese each evening which was a nice touch, cookie jars that are always full of great treats and fantastic hot breakfasts. All in all a great spot. We'll definitely stay there again.

With so many inns to select from in Galena, deciding which one I wanted to stay in was a challenge. However, I am glad I chose Farmers Guest House. Not only is the location ideal, but the warm hospitality and Americana charm of this historic property combine to make this a B&B where guests feel a sense of relaxation the moment they arrive. Snacks and complimentary drinks are available throughout the day, wine is offered in the early evening, and a delicious breakfast is prepared each morning. The Annie Lloyd Cottage and Pete and Eleanor's Whirlpool Suite are especially nice and offer extra privacy, but all accommodations are clean and comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Farmer's Guest House, and I would definitely stay there again.

We can't say enough about the kindness and friendship we received on our first visit to a B&B. The rooms are very clean and well-suited to our needs. We loved the wine/cheese in the evenings and the chance to have conversation with our hosts and the other guests. We will definitely be back!

My wife was fortunate to have off during the week of April 14th. We decided at the last minute to do something to get away from everything and enjoy some time together. We talked about a few things and decided to visit Galena as it’s been over 15 years since we visited. We also never stayed at a B&B so we went on the internet to start searching. After several hours viewing many sites we narrowed our choices down to two. The designer for Farmers Guest House website did a fantastic job of all the details. We stayed in Pete and Eleanor’s room and could not have been happier, it was outstanding. We had a chance to “peek” into several other rooms when they weren’t occupied, all were beautiful. I especially loved the outdoor Jacuzzi first thing in the morning, we got lucky with the weather (I think we picked the nicest week of the year) and my wife joined me again in the evening. What sold me on Farmers’ was their quick response too our inquiry. Jess immediately called, answered all my questions and after our conversation we booked our room. That shows me how dedicated they are with their customers. The other B&B didn’t get back to me for 3 days (sorry to late). We basically had the place to ourselves as we went during the mid week and the other couples had to sadly head back. This was awesome because it gave us plenty of time to chat with Jess, Kathie and Charles. They made us feel like we were back home visiting family. They quickly became friends we will always remember. The location to downtown Galena was excellent, walking distance if you wanted. Shopping at this time of the year was another advantage. The stores had time to talk and make suggestions since the busy season has yet to start. For us this time of year was fantastic. Visit Galena and stay at Farmers’; you won’t be disappointed. This was so much fun, where do I start?! The inn is charming, beautifully decorated, as well as only 2 blocks from the downtown area. The hosts, Kathie & Jess, along with Charles, are gracious and accommodating. The breakfasts were outstanding - a nice selection with the main hot dish as well as continental offerings (depending on your appetite). The room was spotless. The DVD library had a deep selection. Galena itself is a great destination - many restaurants & lots to do. We would definitely go back.

Our Euchre Card playing group of 18 needed a place with areas for ALL of us to gather, and the Farmer's Guesthouse met our needs! With their large dining room, we had plenty of space to play cards and do other group activities. We were all able to participate in the Murder Mystery Night, good fun had by all. We all loved the attention that was provided to the smallest details in decorating, in ALL of the rooms, whether they were bedrooms or just sitting rooms. Only complaint? Just wished that we could have stayed a few nights longer, and REALLY gotten into the relaxing part of being away.

Kathie & Jess have a clean, spacious and inviting Inn which made us feel right at home. A large group eating area was the best thing we could have asked for with our large group, and made us feel like it was our home. A spacious fridge let us keep snacks that we brought along, plenty of games for our use. A charmingly decorated home away from home that we will be sure to return to and recommend. Hosts Kathie & Jess have the BEST breakfasts, plus are the nicest host/hostess! My favorite B&B yet.

Making the reservation, all questions were answered. During my stay, temperatures wen down to 16 below zero. House was very cozy. Jess, Kathy, and Charlie were extremely accomodating. Food was excellent and presentation was great. Bed comfortable, and bathroom nice.

This is a wonderful and charming place with the most gracious of hosts. This historic old building gracefully decorated with so many interesting antique artifacts and furniture is so well maintained and immaculatley clean. You could not find dust with white gloves. The bed was modern and comfortable, the private bathroom, well stocked, spacious and spotless! Breakfast was tasty, varied and plentiful. Easy walk right into downtown. Quiet nights and a beautiful, peaceful patio. Most importantly, the hosts, Jessie and Kathy are the most gracious people you ever want to meet. We really felt that we were being welcomed home by family! We will certainly be back for more!

Been to Galena many times, but none where as great as when we stayed at the Farmers Guesthouse. Great people very friendly and inviting. The best breakfast in town, we have stayed so many times that we have seen just about every room, ever one is special and delightful. Being so close to town you needn’t even drive your car to town. You go in as a customer and leave as a friend.

Friendly, immaculately clean, after one of their breakfasts you don't need lunch, adorable rooms, walking distance to town, better than B&B I stayed at in Cape Cod, San Francisco, just to name a few.

17 of my family members comfortably enjoyed this lodging for a reunion. Jess and Kathie Farlow are experts in hospitality and service - we all had a fantastic time - beautiful home, great food, lots of space, hot tub; & we all walked to down town. For just a couple or a group, it's perfect!

What a great B&B! Located within walking distance to town and shopping and dining. Kathy and Jess Farlow are perfect hosts,and make you feel at home. Terrific wine and cheese and snacks in the afternoon. Each room has own style and decor..plus each room has own thermostat. Perfect place to spend a few days. I took my father, nine friends and family for father's day. This was my sixth visit in less than a year...Next best thing to home...The owners Kathie and Jess are just like family.. WE LOVE IT!!
