Cheryl and Carmine are extraordinary hosts that go the extra mile to make you feel special and appreciated. The attention to details is boundless from the decor to the amenities. No corners are cut. I fact, breakfast is delicious and very generous; cookies upon arrival with complimentary water, pop, coffee and popcorn. Our room was spacious and the bed amazingly comfortable. We enjoyed our private whirlpool and fireplace. The weather didn't allow us to enjoy the outdoor gardens, gazebo and walkways so we will be sure to come back to experience them this summer. We highly recommend Claron Mansion and these very special hosts.

This was our first B&B experience and it was fantastic. Carmine and Cheryl made sure our stay was top notch. From the divine breakfasts that we enjoyed to having reservations ready on Saturday night to the wonderful dining establishments in Galena, they made our stay unforgettable. I would highly recommend the Cloran Mansion for your next getaway. The mansion is beautiful and the rooms are immaculate. Seriously consider the Cloran Mansion for your next Bed and Breakfast excursion. R&L Iowa Falls,Iowa

This was a first time bed and breakfast experience for us and we couldn't have been happier! Our hosts were very welcoming and gracious from the minute we walked in the door! Everything was decorated beautifully, accommodating with all the comforts of home. The food was out of this world and the little extras like homemade coffee cake were quite nice! We will definitely be back to stay at the Cloran Mansion!

We were looking for someplace cozy and relaxing, and we found it in Cloran Mansion. We stayed in John's room with the thermostatically controlled fireplace and jacuzzi for two. We didn't watch much television, but a flatscreen with satellite was available in the room. Breakfast was wonderful, and our hosts were very gracious and genuine. We will be staying here again soon!!

My husband and I stayed at the Cloran Mansion a couple of weekends ago and had a marvelous time. Upon arrival, Carmine and Cheryl immediately upgraded us at no extra charge to a larger room with a fireplace and whirlpool! The rooms are all very unique and each have a cozy feel! Carmine and Cheryl were beyond helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast was enormous and extremely delicious!! We were both very pleased with our stay and plan to visit Galena and the Cloran Mansion again soon!

My husband had a conference in Dubuque and surprised me with a stay at the Cloran Mansion. This was our first bed and breakfast, so we weren't quite sure what to expect...needless to say, we loved it! The Cloran Mansion is beautiful, the room was cozy with a fireplace and our own whirlpool. Carmine and Cheryl make you feel comfortable and right at home from the moment you step inside. We took advantage of their collection of movies, decided where to go to dinner based on all the restaurant menus they have on hand and took advantage of fire pit outside by roasting marshmallows after dinner. We got a restful night sleep in the comfy bed and high quality sheets. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Overall, we had a fabulous experience and can't wait to do it again!

My wife and I stayed in Antonio's cottage for 3-4 days. We were able to bring our two girls along for the trip as well (small dogs). The cottage is unbelievable cozy and perfect for the weekend get away. Our dogs loved the heated floors and we were only a short drive or walk from down town Galena. The breakfast (which is made by the owners every morning) is to die for. We could never eat lunch at noon because we were still so full from breakfast! The owners are wonderful people who make you feel right at home. There is plenty to do in the area but we also just relaxed a few nights by the fire or the jacuzzi and watched one of the hundreds of dvd's they have available (for free). If you are debating if you should go, I hope this sways you in the right direction. You will not be disappointed, I know we weren't. We will be back soon! Thanks again for the wonderful time! Sincerely, Garrick and Nikki (and Zoey and Fancy)

Four years ago, my husband surprised me and took me to the Cloran Mansion for our first experience at a B & B. It was more than we could ever imagine. He said he wanted to come back with our children on our 20th Anniversary to renew our wedding vows! We went back several times in between, but this time we took our 4 children. I was a little worried, being that most people go here to get "away" from their kids. I was wrong! Carmine and Cheryl couldn't have made us feel more welcomed if we were related. It was an amazing experience for my whole family. All the guests too, made it a wonderful experience! Everything was perfect, from the ceremony, to the wonderful delicious breakfast, the yummy cookies, the beautiful pictures, and special framed certificate they provided for us. Our kids stayed in the cottage and we stayed in "Ann's room". We can't wait to return again and again for many years to come. We feel so spoiled there and welcomed that we have never gone to any other B & B. It's like being at home without any cooking, cleaning, or any housework what so ever!!

Thank you so much for honoring my husband on Veteran's Day! I cannot think of a better act of kindness towards our military. The Cloran was such an amazing experience. The facility was quaint, clean, and beautifully decorated. The hospitality was gracious and welcoming like your own home environment. The food was delicious and we are looking forward to our next stay there. Edward and Noelle

Cheryl and Carmine made us feel like home. This was our first B & B so neither of us knew what to expect. The room was perfect and romantic with two fireplaces, a large king size bed and a whirlpool upstairs in our own private bath. The breakfast in the mornings were perfect. Anything you wanted they had already thought of it. Any B & B after our time at the Clorian will probably not live up to these standards.

My husband, 11-month old daughter and I had a wonderful 3-night stay in Sara's Suite. The mansion is historic and beautiful, the grounds were lovely, and everything was so nicely decorated in celebration of my favorite season of autumn. We had an amazing breakfast every morning that always included eggs to order, a breakfast meat like sausage or ham, toast or English muffins with jam and apple butter, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and a carb-rich treat like pumpkin pancakes or French toast. Carmine & Cheryl were very warm and welcoming, without being smothering in any way. They have thought of everything when it comes to their guests' comfort, including free water, soda, snacks, books, games, wi-fi, Dish TV, and hundreds of DVDs. They were very welcoming to my baby and had a high chair and pack n' play ready for us to use. My parents came as well and stayed in Antonio's Cottage. We all had a great time and would highly recommend this B&B.

This was our 5th visit to the Cloran Mansion in a 5 year period and we enjoyed it just as much as we did the previous 4 times. The hosts, Carmine and Cheryl are friendly and helpful, the room is clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is the best we have had at any of the many B&B's we have tried in the Galena area. We highly recommend the Cloran Mansion to anyone wishing to experience the best.

Our journey from Milwaukee, WI was certainly worth the trip. The Cloran Mansion is very well situated in relation to downtown Galena. The breakfast was wonderful - a true treat.

This B & B was so much more than we expected. Lovely grounds, beautiful and immaculate interior, but the best was the warm welcome by Carmine and Cheryl. The whole experience, from the delicious cake waiting for us in the lobby when we arrived to the wonderfully prepared and delicious breakfast each morning will certainly bring us back to visit We certainly will recommend "Cloran Mansion Inn" to all our friends. Thanks again Carmine and Cheryl!

This is a wonderful B&B. Great food, very clean and the inn keepers are wonderful. A personalized anniversary card and cookies awaited us, a very nice surprise. Well worth the money, the hospitality and little touches throughout were top notch. My favorite thing to do was come home at night and see the dining room table decorated for breakfast in the am!! We plan on returning again!!

We have visited 2 years now for our anniversary weekend. First in the cottage and then in the house. The breakfast is phenomonal and the owners hold standing reservations at the most popular restaurants in town to accomodate their guests. Coming back from being in town all day Saturday to homemade chocolate chip cookies was a nice addition. We will be back for sure.

Girls weekend, we stayed at the Condo at Longhollow Point. We enjoyed the space, and didn't have to worry about being too loud. The breakfast at the Mansion was included and was FANTASTIC! Next time, we would use the cottage, to be on the Mansion grounds and use the gazebo and fire pit. (just a note, we could still have used the gazebo and fire pit, but didn't want to have to travel back to our room after)

My wife and I just had a destination wedding and with all the chaos felt we needed a mimi getaway when we got back home to Chicago. I chose to do somehing we had never tried before and we booked a stay at the Cloran Mansion for a two night stay. I was a little apprehensive when we arrived but as soon as Carmine greeted us at the door, he made sure we felt right at home. Our room was comfortable and the mansion was beautiful inside and out. Carmine and Cheryl cooked us a wonderful breakfast both mornings!!! Its close to town and if you need something to do and can't figure it out, just ask Carmine, he won't steer you wrong. We can't wait to go back and stay again at the Cloran Mansion.

We just had our wedding at the Cloran Mansion and it was so beautiful and everything that we had dreamed of. They have a special package where you can invite 10 guests and have the wedding on the gorgeous grounds with the reception in the dining room. If you want a simple, affordable, stress-free, intimate and absolutely charming wedding where everything (including the officiant, cake, photos, dinner, champagne, bouquet) is just taken care of, then I really recommend the Cloran Mansion. All I had to do was show up and everything went smoothly. The dinner was delicious, as was the breakfast every morning. My husband and I and our mothers all stayed there and loved our rooms. Cheryl and Carmine went above and beyond in meeting our needs for the weekend! Enjoy!

We have found this B & B to be #1 as far as we are concerned. Cheryl and Carmen are the most wonderful hostess and host and the breakfast is to die for. We have stayed there 5 ot 6 times and every time we are heading that way we talked about how we cannot wait to have their breakfast. All the rooms are wonderfully decorated and comfortable but our favorite is Ann's Room. We are never disappointed and when we leave we are always talking about when will be the next time we can get away to have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend getaway back at the Cloran Mansion. Trust me - you will not be disappointed!!

First time for Galena and first time for staying at a bed and breakfast. The Cloran Mansion was charming and well kept. Cheryl and Carmine were wonderful hosts and made sure our stay was its best. We stayed in John's room and it was just right for us. We celebrated my birthday and they had surprised us with a birthday cake and card when we got back to the room. Cake was really good too! Breakfast was served on different china each of the two days we stayed and was really yummy and lots of food. While in beautiful downtown Galena we hit up the shops, winery in the area and restaurants and enjoyed every bit, everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend the Cloran and Galena for a getaway to all and am hoping we can make it back again in the near future.

My fiancé and I were looking for an intimate wedding setting and found the Cloran Mansion online. We went for a visit and knew right away this was our place. We set the wedding date and contacted Cheryl and Carmine with the details (colors, number of guests, etc). Cheryl and Carmine took care of all of the ordering and details and made the planning and day stress free. Being that the wedding was in April, the weather was iffy - but they were prepared for anything that was coming our way. Thankfully the weather that day was beautiful - like everything else. We stayed in the cottage and it was very cozy, it had everything we needed. Loved the hot tub and the fire place. We chose a movie from the vast dvd library and enjoyed our evening in. Thank you so very much for the wonderful stay Cheryl and Carmine, we can't wait to come back to visit you. #93

We visited Galena for the first time, and stayed in the Tower Suite in Cloran Mansion. The room was attractive, and the whirlpool in the cupola was unique. We enjoyed a hearty and delicious breakfast each morning. If there is any drawback at all, it would be that there is no common room in which to socialize with other guests. We walked to Main Street for relaxation and exercise, but there is plenty of parking downtown for people who would prefer to drive. We also took the footbridge across the Galena River to connect to the hiking trail at the community park on the other bank. Galena has many good restaurants that emphasize local food. One day we made an excursion to Dubuque, only fifteen minutes away and with interesting links to the Mississippi River.

Spotless, comfortable, well-equipped with great amenities like a new flat-screen TV, a 600 movie DVD library, 2-person whirlpool tub, heated floors, 3-way gas fireplace and a small kitchen - we never wanted to leave! Cheryl & Carmine are gracious, welcoming hosts and really know what they are doing. We had a fantastic time there with our little dog and cant' wait to go back!

We took our first vacation in 7 1/2 years. We went to Galena for the Christmas weekend. The Cloran folks were more than friendly! It snowed the first night we were there. In the morning our SUV had been cleaned of all snow, the sidewalks were scooped and swept, the drive was the same. The breakfast and company were superb as well as being warm, friendly and neighborly. Our breakfasts were cooked to order! It doesn't get any better. We have already told everyone we have seen upon our return about these folks! You can't go wrong with the Cloran Mansion! We love 'em!

We had Sara’s Suite which is warm and comfortable to sleep in and the breakfast is always bountiful and enticing. The host Cheryl and Carmine always make you feel like family, it’s like coming home. They’re very knowledgeable about the area, restaurants, festivals and other goings on in the area. Would recommend the Cloran Mansion to anyone visiting Galena you will not be disappointed.. What a wonderful, restful, memorable weekend at the Cloran Mansion B&B with hosts Cheryl and Carmine! With the B&B beautifully decked out for the winter holidays, and a warm glowing fireplace in our Sara's Suite, we immediately felt at home -- a very lovingly maintained home. The innkeepers' breakfast hospitality included delicious Danish aebleskiver pancakes, sphere-shaped doughy goodness that resembled a light, fluffy popover. Our country breakfasts each morning, along with the B&B's many other amenities, made for a very pleasant, fun weekend. Cloran Mansion and Galena's distinctive setting -- its surrounding hills, limestone cliffs and river valley; its historic legacy; its vintage storefronts, restaurants, galleries, shopping, and golf and skiing -- are a perfect fit!

My wife and I have stayed at a number of Bed and Breakfast establishments in Galena as our initial plan was to try a different B&B each time we visited that historic city. However, we changed our minds once we stayed at the Cloran Mansion. Carmine and Cheryl, the innkeepers, always make every effort to ensure that our visit is pleasant and comfortable. The rooms are pleasant and well maintained and the full breakfast is the best we have encountered in any B&B or hotel. The price is quite reasonable and a discount is given to returning guests. We highly recommend the Cloran Mansion for those who want to find out what a B&B experience should be like.

My wife and I loved our stay at Cloran Mansion B&B, Galena, Ilinois. Carmen and Cheryl greeted us warmly, and showed us around their dining area, and made us feel very welcome. They showed us to our lovely room on the second floor. WE stayed in Ann's room, which was very attractive and included a fireplace, brass bed, stereo CD/DVD player and cable TV, and a large private whirlpool bath in an enclosed porch which had many windows overlooking a working farm. Next to our room was the library which had a very large collection of videos and CD's, books, magazines, and board games, as well as coffee and tea and popcorn. The large and delicious six-course breakfast was served family style, and and included several juice choices, as well as tea and coffee. Everything was delicious, and our hosts made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The dining area was beautiful, with fine china and crystal with a wonderfully attractive room. We enjoyed meeting and conversing with the other guests staying at the Mansion during our breakfast time together. Also, we enjoyed the time to talk with our hosts,Carmine and Cheryl, as they shared information about themselves and how they came to Cloran Mansion. The grounds around the Mansion are beautiful. The many flowers, the gazebo, the fish pond and waterfall, the outside fire pit area, and the large trees around Cloran Mansion made it so picture-perfect. The location on the edge of Galena was ideal, and provided a wonderful and peaceful place to stay. We highly recommend Cloran Mansion as a delightful place to stay. Duane and Gale Olson

We stayed in the smalled room, Alice's, for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The hosts, Carmine and Cheryl, really have the B&B experience down pat and doted on us when necessary and gave us our space when appropriate. We especially enjoyed the gazebo, where we enjoyed our own dinner of bread, cheese, and fruit. The large, hot breakfast kept us full the next day! Highly recommend The Cloran Mansion for all B&Bers!

My husband and I stayed at the Cloran Mansion for our first anniversary and we could not have asked for anything better! The innkeepers were so kind and welcoming! The house was gorgeous and only a short drive to fun shops and restaurants. All in all, it was a perfect weekend get-away and we loved every minute of it!

We stayed at Cloran Mansion and because we were staying in the cottage we were thrilled to be able to bring our puppies along! From the moment we got there we felt at home. It was our anniversary get-away and it could not have been more perfect! Carmine showed us around the cottage and property and we settled in. Breakfasts were beyond belief. Simple things like boysenberry syrup were such a joy! Conversation with the other guests and Carmine and Cheryl were so enjoyable...along with the extras...like Carmine making restaurant reservations at area restaurants...then asking who would like to take them. Made dinner so wonderful for those who did not know the area. I am so looking forward to my next trip there and believe we won't wait until next year...but perhaps in a couple of months!

Cheryl & Carmine have seen to every detail, including many that we would not have thought of (little touches like a personalized card & cookie in our room on arrival, etc.). All the amenities were better than outstanding, and our hosts were more like family than anything else. Breakfast was better than I've had in any restaurant in a LONG while! We (like several of the other couples who were there for the weekend) plan on coming back OFTEN!

The Cloran Mansion is a fabulous B&B. My husband and I wanted a quiet, private mini-vacation and that's exactly what we found at the Cloran Mansion. Carmine and Cheryl are incredibly kind and always there if you need them but also very respectful of our desire for privacy. The homemade breakfasts are amazing. The room was beautiful and romantic. We stayed in the Tower Room. The breakfast each morning was more than we had received at other Bed and Breakfast places. Delicious homemade full breakfast with made to order eggs. The nice home made snacks by the front door that changed each day was a great touch. All in all a wonderful weekend. My wife was truely surprised and very happy with my choice. We will be back. My wife wants to renew our vows there. A lot of extras!

Carmine and Cheryl have a very lovely historic property in an interesting corner of Americana in Galena. Wile the property is filled with nostalgia, the extras wre every much appreciated. We spent an hour in the gazebo listening to the waterfall and watching the koi fish. The wife loved the firepit coffee table and two other couples joined us until midnight around the campfire telling fellow traveler tales. The Cloran hosts weddings and one was scheduled for the day we left. The energy and service of the hosts was special to watch for the young couple. Carmine has a great selection of DVD's and the TV must have a gazillion movie channels when we had a chance to crash. Our cottage was very private and as cozy as you could want, from the swivel bigscreen TV to the hot tub and comfy bedding. The next morning breakfast was as good as advertised (which was six courses). For all of you accountants out there, it was : fruit, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, sausage, muffin as well as juices and coffee. We didn't need anything, but if we had, Carmine and Cheryl would have fixed us up we are sure. Sometimes, you want to try a sure thing. That is our recommendation for the Cloran Manssion Bed and Breakfast.

My wife and I just got basck from a weekend at the Cloran Mansion in Galena, IL. We have probably stayed at more than a dozen B&B's since we got married and we both agreed this was the best we had ever experienced. The innkeepers were amazing and the house was immaculate. Just a short walk or ride from downtown Galena. We will definitely be back.

I took my wife to the Cloran Mansion in Galena Illinois and was exceptionally pleased with not only the rooms but the service as well. The B&B was full with six couples staying for the weekend and I found out that all of them had been there before! After dealing with the owners and enjoying the amenities I can with confidence say we will return also. The Italian theme in the rooms was interesting and the decorations were a delight. Breakfast was varied and made to order and we never left the table hungry! Bottom line it was a great experience.

Cheryl and Carmen are the best. They make you feel at home. Their breakfasts are to die for.the landscape is so charming, with the lighted Gazebo and Japanese fish pond. I've been three times and will continue to go!

This gorgeous, historical home is one of the most welcoming places I've ever stayed. Your retreat begins with a warm reception by the owners, Cheryl and Carmine. These two hosts were ever-present throughout our long weekend, seemingly on call for our every question and need. You immediately feel like you're entering their home and family. The grounds are not huge, but the space is used very wisely with a gazebo, pond/waterfalls, fire pit, and playground. The fire pit in particular was a relaxing way to wind down at the end of a long day, wine optional. Our room (Sara's Suite) accommodates children of any age, a rarity in the B&B world. This was fortunate as I much prefer B&B's over traditional hotels, but am also the parent of a 1 1/2 year old. A portable crib, high chair, child-sized dishes and child-friendly food options were available throughout our stay and did not appear to impose upon either the hosts or the other guests in the slightest. The room itself was impeccable, the bed extremely comfortable, and the whirlpool tub is HUGE. A movie from the upstairs collection was another perfect end to a long day. Everything we needed from arrival to departure was thoughtfully provided before we even had to ask. This B&B is clean, bright, and elegant and I would recommend it to any friends or family. The only drawback is it's more expensive than your average chain hotel, especially at peak season. That said, it's well worth the money if you're looking for a retreat from your stressful life. We will certainly be back to Galena and the Cloran Mansion again.

Our first Bed and Breakfast getaway was a wonderful experience. It totally exceeded our expectations. The room was just beautiful as were the grounds the mansion resided on. The full breakfast every am. was outstanding - the variety each day was great as were all the home-made items - we loved the french toast and the pancake puffs and lemon curd that were offered along with eggs made to order. We also had the opportunity to have a "couples massage" along with a private dinner for two in the Bay Window of the Victorian dining room. Carmine and Cheryl were the perfect "Host" and "Hostesses". We truly enjoyed the conversations we had with them and the other guests staying at the mansion. There were many extra extra touches we appreciated such as the treats set out every day in the foyer when you returned home after a day of shopping or sight-seeing, the stocked refrigerator with refreshments along with the stocked library with coffee and assorted teas, the heated towel rack beside the whirlpool tub, and the comfy bath robes that were in our closet. The Tower Room had beautiful views from every window - we loved climbing up to the Cupola where the whirlpool tub was at - it was very romantic. We also loved the special touch of an Anniversary card with a Bride and Groom cookie because we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Charming, romantic and intimate would describe our whole bed and breakfast experience. We are definitely looking forward to coming back and experiencing one of the other lovely rooms the Cloran Mansion has to offer.

What an outstanding weekend. Stayed in Antonio's Cottage and it was like being in a home away from home. It was very spacious and comfortable and cozy. The cottage had real warmth about it. It has a CD player, TV, and DVD player. The whirlpool bath was so very soothing. From the moment we arrived, we wanted for nothing. Carmen showed us around the bed and breakfast and then over to the Cottage. He explained everything very clearly. He made five dinner reservations different restaurants around town in case the guests had not made prior arrangements. There were games, music, movies and cards readily available for your use. The breakfasts were superb and very plentiful. During breakfast, you got a chance to meet and interact with other guests and learn about their experiences about town. The Cloran Mansion is very conveniently located about a mile from Main Street and all the sites. The property is so beautiful; there's a fire pit and a gazebo where you can sit and enjoy nature by the pond and waterfall. They also have a heart-shaped arch where you can cozy up to your special someone for a nice photo opportunity. We enjoyed everything and was sorry we had to leave. I highly recommend this Inn. Book your room soon and enjoy; you won't be disappointed.

We were welcomed by both Carmine and Cheryl and from that moment we were made to feel like family. The room was fabulous and the second floor library had hundreds of movies to choose from. The breakfast was everything you could hope for! Cheryl and Carmine both cook and make sure you never have to ask for anything! We will definitely return again and again !!!!

My wife decided to celebrate our 10th anniversary in Galena. We love the idea of staying at the Cloran condo just because we can come and go as we pleased. The condo also has a pool, excercise room, and arcade. The room was clean, quiet, and have a great jaccuzi. You still get to have breakfast at the mansion with was awesome. It fills you up for most of the day. Cheryl and Carmine are two of the nicest people we have meet. Carmine is a great story teller too. We'll definitely be back and may stay at the house this time to get to know it better. Neil & Andrea A.

The stay at the Cloran Mansion was our first time in a B&B, and I'm glad that I chose it. The room was great. I loved the little extras that they offer, like ear swabs, cd players near the hot tubs, and bath salts. Cheryl and Carmine are fantastic hosts ! They truly make you feel like a guest in their home, never an awkward moment. The breakfast that is offered is the icing on the cake! DEVINE!!! I have nothing negative to say about our stay there.

Carmine & Cheryl were some of the most magnificent hosts you could ever expect. From their friendly conversation to the amazing breakfast and snacks around the house they provided, I couldn't ask for anything more out of a B&B. I will definitely be returning to the Cloran Mansion next time I am in Galena!

We had a great stay in the Tower Room for our anniversary. Although the stairs are tricky, the hot tub in the tower is a wonderful little room! Common room on the upper level is well stocked and has a massive DVD movie library. An in-room frig with complimentary soda and water was a very nice touch. And breakfast was very good as well.

The service was excellent and the breakfasts were delicious, filling and a variety of choices were available. You will not go away hungry! The rooms were clean, inviting, and the private whirlpool tub and fireplace were wonderful after spending a busy day bustling around the charming town of Galena. The location was nice, and had we been there during the summer, we would have loved sitting out in the gazebo or elsewhere on the grounds, in one of the swings or on a bench. Our host and hostess were very friendly and helpful in suggesting places to eat, things to see, etc. They had complimentary coffee, tea, pop, water and snacks for the guests and a huge library of movies to choose from that you could watch in your private room. The common areas were nice too. We liked everything about our stay and would definitely suggest it to family and friends! Looking forward to going back.
Thank you for such a nice review. It was our pleasure to host your stay and we hope to see you again soon Carmine and Cheryl

We stayed at the Cloran Condo. I was a little nervous because the website didn't offer many photos, but it everything was wonderful in this spacious unit. Very clean, and loved the lodge/outdoors theme throughout.
Thank you for such a nice review. The Cloran Condo is our newest addition and we love hearing from our guests about it. It is the best way for us to learn about how our guests like it Carmine and Cheryl

We really enjoyed our first time staying at a B&B. We enjoyed how quiet the rooms were. The breakfast was outstanding and the people that we shared our meal with made the trip even nicer! Our room was beautiful. We were able to relax watching movies from their extensive DVD library. Loved our room. The whirlpool tub was up a set of private stairs situated in the tower of the Mansion. We made an appointment for a couples massage and just loved it. The price is quite reasonable too.

I stayed in Ann's Suite and it met my expectations. The room was nice but very busy and the style was old fashioned. Also, the sleeper sofa was unusable, as several of the springs are broken. The two hosts however more than made up for these flaws with an absolutely amazing breakfast and regaling us with stories of the house and how the two of them met. Very nice stay.

My husband and I are from Galena and so really don't get to take advantage of the local bed and breakfasts, but after a last minute baby-sitting offer, we booked the Antonio Cottage at the Cloran Mansion. It was absolutely perfect. Even though we never left our town, it still felt like a getaway. The cottage is separate from the main house and very private. It has a little kitchenette (fridge, sink, microwave, breakfast table/nook). Also has a 2 person whirlpool tub w/ Dead Sea salts available and a see-through fireplace. The floors are heated (perfect for our cold, snowy weather in February). The bed and linens were very comfortable; it was hard to want to get out! The tub, shower, bathroom, everything was very clean. They had the fireplace going already when we showed up. The room also had tea, coffee, pop, water, and popcorn available and free to use. Breakfeast was delicious and there was plenty of choices (food and drink). Cheryl and Carmine are excellent hosts and they also do a lot for the community as a whole. If we ever get another opportunity, we will stay here again.

This B&B is charming, comfortable and the food is wonderful. They fix something different everyday. You sure don't go away hungry. If you like movies, there are hundreds of recent releases to choose from, complimentary. Your room is stocked with complimentary beverages. Great place, great hosts. We are repeat visitors and just love going there. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when in Galena.

We've been coming to the Cloran Mansion for about 5 years now, and this stay was as enjoyable as all our previous visits. The mansion is beautiful, the hosts wonderfully accommodating, and the breakfasts filling and delicious. Going to the Cloran Mansion feels like coming home. Cheryl and Carmine were excellent hosts who took care of us well and paid a great deal of attention to the details, like the exquisite cherry dining room setting, using real china, silverware, and crystal. The breakfast food was outstsanding and allowed us to skip lunch daily. The video library offered a lot of alternatives too. Our only complaint would be the small screen TVs in the rooms, but this was OK given we did not spend much time there.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed we were impressed with our hosts genuine hospitality. Both Cheryl and Carmine conveyed a desire to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable and they helped to create an atmosphere that we felt was perfect for our anniversary getaway. They were always attentive, never intrusive. Everything from the wine, candy and anniversary card in our comfy room to the wonderful breakfast ( seriously folks you should probably call it break to feast) to all the little touches throughout the inn it added up to one great weekend. We highly recommend The Cloran Mansion Inn. Tom and Ellen

One couldn't possibly get better hosts than Cheryl and Carmine. There was not a single thing they could have done to make our experience better. I wouldn't even want to try somewhere else for breakfast. Breakfast at the Cloran Mansion is a real treat. Honestly, I hate to give such a rave review with fear that they may be completely booked the next time we go to Galena, but Cheryl and Carmine deserve it. As far as Bed and Breakfasts go, they are tops.

My husband and I were on a 42nd anniversary getaway to Galena where we had lived the first four years of our marriage. It was also a surprise for my husband as he did not know where I had booked our bed and breakfast stay. He was completely surprised to see where we were staying as we drove up to the Cloran Mansion. Forty two years ago I had been employed as a business education teacher at Galena High School, just across the road from the Cloran. It was like a trip down memory lane for both of us to stay at this special place! Our host and hostess, Carmine and Cheryl, were wonderful to us. A bottle of wine awaited us in our wine, and both breakfasts were scrumptuous and hearty! They made us feel special and right at home. The property had changed quite a bit in 42 years to say the least! What a beautiful and special place! The gardens, flowers, waterfall, and gazebo were amazing! It was the perfect place to celebrate a wedding anniversary! My memories and many photos of the house and grounds will help keep this weekend getaway "alive" for many years to come! Thank you for your gift of your hospitality to us, Carmine and Cheryl!

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary my husband and I packed up our 2 dogs and headed to scenic Galena. We stayed at the charming private cottage at the Cloran Mansion and enjoyed every moment. The cottage was very clean and stocked with lots of amenities. The innkeepers were so friendly and did everything possible to make our stay the very best. They brought a special anniversary dinner right to us, which was beyond delicious. Breakfast in the morning was also yummy with some of the best french toast I've ever had!

A very charming bed and breakfast. Beautifully furnished and well kept up. Hosts were friendly and warm but not at all intrusive. They made us feel very welcome and as if our visit were important to them. Lots of special amenities like soda in the room and a bottle of wine. Liked somewhat later breakfast service...did not feel rushed at all. Food is great! We had the Tower Room...that was alot of fun.

It is a very traditional victorian B&B. The breakfasts were delicious. The only drawback would be it's location which is surrounded by the Galena High School, mattress store, veterinarian and Hwy 20. It is not within walking distance to downtown Galena. Despite this, they have created beautiful gounds including a pond, gazebo and firepit area that was very relaxing.

We were married recently at the Cloran Mansion and had a wonderful time. Our family stayed there with us and we enjoyed it tremendously. The rooms are beautiful and cozy. The breakfasts are out of this world, and they were very accommodating for special diets. I also highly recommend their wedding cake. It was amazing! Carmine and Cheryl made themselves available to us, but allowed us to come and go as we pleased all weekend. We appreciated that. They also worked out all the wedding day details with me and were patient with my many special requests. They made sure the grounds were extra clean and most impressive for the big day. My only wish was that we would have arranged the chairs for the ceremony differently so the sun wasn't in everyone's eyes. Other than that, everything was great. We hope to celebrate our anniversary there in the future.

The jacuzzi even had a fireplace and it's own TV. So relaxing! The quiet setting was very peaceful yet we still felt very comfortable with our young sons. They enjoyed the pool and game room so much! The pull out couch was perfect for them. Breakfast at the mansion was like nothing we have experienced before. The setting was elegant and welcoming, and the food was delicious! Our stay was at Antonio's Cottage. Well decorated, romantic with a whilpool tub, candles and a beautifully made comfortable bed. Convenient kitchen w/table and chairs, fireplace, flat screen TV with full viewing from either bed or cushioned couch or kitchen table. Across the driveway in front of the main house was a Gazebo, nicely decorated, where we spent much time relaxing. The landscape included a pond, and was beautiful and also included a firepit with seating, also a highlight. Breakfast was served in a Victorian Dining Room where we shared experiences with the other guests and our charming hosts. We were served an outstanding breakfast at an elegantly set table. All the rooms in the main house were well decorated to meet your comfort, each having it's own bathroom and fireplace. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to return. Many thanks to our hosts. The service, the room, the breakfast were over the top excellent! Cheryl and Carmine's commitment to their guest's satisfaction was unmatched. The only issue was one of the massage therapists was about 5-10 minutes late and arrived with a bed that had a broken head rest. It was workable but, it was not as relaxing as it should have been. Spoke to one of the other guests that had the massage the night before us and they mentioned the same issue...this should have been corrected, given the fact it was a known problem.

We stayed in Alice's room and found it to be so lovely, immaculate, and very inviting. Cheryl and Carmine met us and welcomed us to their 'home' and shared helpful info about Galena--what to see, where to go for dining and scenic outlooks. The outdoors of this B&B is so welcoming with a screened in gazebo right beside the rippling waterfall and pond full of koi. Our full course breakfast was beyond our expectations--delicious French toast, with boysenberry syrup, fresh fruit, and made to order eggs were 3 of my favorites, but everything was AMAZING!! Although up the hill from downtown Galena, the environment is relaxing and well worth the distance.

We had stayed at a number of B&B's through the years and the Clorian was definitely one of the best. I especially liked the small "homey" touches....M&M's in a bowl when you walk in and a container of "Oreos" available in the common room. The front garden was beautiful and we especially liked the water fall and gazebo. The breakfasts were amazing and we especially felt pampered when they bought out warm lavender scented moist towels to wipe our hands with at the end of the meal. We would definitely recommend the Clorian to anyone who was looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to get away.

We just can't say enough about how great Cheryl and Carmine are and how much we enjoy coming back to Cloran Mansion at least once/year! The rooms are gorgeous, you are pampered with the whirlpool tubs and fireplaces, free amenities, free movies in the library, etc. The breakfasts are the BEST...many great things to choose from each morning and always delicious. We love visiting and would highly recommend to others! ~ Carolyn & Brian

Beautiful, well-kept rooms, gorgeous grounds and hosts that thought of all the little extras to make our stay memorable. We especially enjoyed the fresh-baked cookies upon our arrival home from the triathlon and the sea salts in the whirlpool bath. We will definitely be making a trip back and hope to spend a bit more time by the fire pit!

My wife and I have stayed at a number of bed and breakfast establishments. The Cloran Mansion is one of the best. The inn keepers are friendly, helpful, and honest. They provide top notch service and keep a clean and restful environment. Best of all, however, is the breakfast. It is top of the line!!

This was our first experience at a bed & breakfast and what a great experience it was. From the moment we entered the building until we left, we wer treated like family (without having to do dishes!) The setting was lovely and tranquil. We certainly retun often.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Claran. We had never been to a bed and breakfast before and could not have had a better experience. The owners were so friendly and down to earth. They were available if we needed them but were not intrusive. It was a very relaxing time, in a charming setting. The room was comfortable and the food was delicious.

Our reservation was made at the Cloran Mansion based on the description of the gazebo on the grounds. We were not disappointed as the beautiful setting of the historical home far exceeded our expectations. After a wonderful dinner in town we returned to this respite in a pastoral setting and settled into the gazebo glider, absorbing the beautiful setting by the waterfall. Anne's room (a generous upgrade) was perfect, both comfortable and charming. Breakfast was wonderful and each dish presented was pefect. As we left that morning we made certain we had photographed the grounds to remind us of our evening of respite.

Last weekend, my husband and I stayed in the beautiful Cloran Mansion in Galena, IL. We were there with 2 other couples who are good friends of ours. We all had a fantastic time in Galena and especially enjoyed the hospitality of the Cloran Mansion. Cheryl and Carm were simply wonderful hosts and the inn itself has everything we would have wished for. We particularly enjoyed sitting with our friends and relaxing in the gazebo and at night, when it got a little chilly, we loved hanging out next to the fire pit. Having never stayed in a B&B before, I was slightly concerned that the atmosphere would be too stuffy or maybe just targeting a different demographic (we are all in our mid 30s) but we did not find that to be true at all. There was a lovely mix of guests and the atmosphere was pleasant but not at all stuffy. We will definitely return to the Cloran Mansion!!

My husband and I got married Saturday April 24th. My parents got us a 2 night stay at the Cloran Mansion. We stayed at the cottage that is seperate from the mansion. When we arrived, we felt like family. They treated us like we were there own family. They showed us around and made sure that their house was our house. They new that we had just been married, so they gave us a bottle of champain and two flutes. The breakfasts that they served were amazing! The dinner was amazing as well. They served us in our cottage. They set everything up and took care of the mess. It was the perfect getaway after a very stressful couple of weeks before the wedding. Thank you to the owners for making our stay wonderful!

This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast. We went in with an open mind and didn't leave disappointed. Our room was very clean (John's room) and had great amenities: mini fridge, whirlpool tub, fireplace, robes. The landscaping, although we stayed during early spring and it was still quite chilly, was beautiful and boasted a fire pit and gazebo. Breakfast was very tasty. Fruit, coffee, juices, sausage, eggs, potatos, etc..... Everything about the mansion was fantastic, especially the hosts! We highly recommend giving the Cloran Mansion a visit.

I can't imagine anyone not enjoying a stay at the beautiful and friendly Cloran Mansion. The owners, Carmine and Cheryl are so inviting and really make you feel at home. All the other guests at this B&B seemed as equally pleased to be there and it was a joy eating the scrumptious family style breakfast in the lovely dining room with them. The rooms are very clean and decorated very nicely. My husband and I loved our whirlpool bathtub and the very cushy terry-cloth robes that were ares to use during our stay. The Mansion is just a few minutes drive uphill from quaint downtown Galena. After our huge family style breakfast each morning we hiked between 4-6 miles along the well maintained river trails. After hiking and then tooling around the neighborhoods and downtown Galena it was great knowing we had such a delightful place to go back to in order to get a little rest before venturing out again for dinner. Later into the evening it was nice to come back to the Mansion's extensive DVD collection. A wonderful experience all in all.

I just stayed here this week, and it was, in a word, fabulous! We stayed in the tower room, and it was amazing! What a relaxing place to stay and experience! The breakfast was amazing, as were all of the other little extras that they provide for you! I will definitely be back, thank you for a wonderful stay! :) :)

We try to stay at the Cloran Mansion at least once a year in the guest cottage and have had nothing but great experiences. Carmine and Cheryl are the friendliest, most accomodating innkeepers we have met...and the breakfasts are awesome! The cottage is clean, the bed is sooo comfortable, the tub is great, the fireplace perfect. Even our dogs love it!

This was a winter getaway for no other purpose than to get away from it all for a few days. When planning this trip, we did realize that we have choices. Galena has so much to choose from when it comes to B&B's, but we always return to the Cloran Mansion because of the unsurpassed excellence that we have come to expect. This trip did not disappoint in any way. We felt pampered by the hosts Cheryl & Carmine. Our room was perfect, like going home, and the breakfast daily was out of this world. In all, it was another memorable trip to lovely Galena and the beautiful Cloran Mansion.

The Cloran Mansion is a wonderful Bed & Breakfast! Great rooms that are not overly decorated, wonderful innkeepers, and fantastic breakfast that was served a little later (9 to 10:30) so you don't feel like you have to wake up early. We highly recommend it!

The Cloran Mansion is the place to stay for any reason. Over the past 7 years we have chosen the mansion for a friends' reunion from high school, a murder mystery week-end, red hat weekend, 3 times for Thanksgiving, shopping, and week-end restful get aways, but our most memorable visit was when we rented the entire inn and held our 10 year recommittment ceremony in the front yard with the pond and the gazebo as a background. Cheryl was also most helpful in getting things accomplished for our reception which we held in the over-sized dining room. Every accommodation needed was met. The breakfasts were varied with our very favorite being Chery's french toast and her fruit and cream dish. Carmine's eggs are always served to perfection. You will never go away hungry from this elegantly set breakfast table. Cheryl and Carmine are very knowledgable about the history of Galena, the restaurants in the area, the events happening in and around Galena. They have even been known to offer to drop us off downtown for some shopping to accomodate our health issues. We have met many fun interesting people around the breakfast table. When we are looking to be pampered, The Cloran Mansion is the first vacation spot that comes to our mind. We usually visit 3 to 4 times and year and we hope to continue this tradition for many more years. It always feels so great to be greeted just like you have just come home after a long absence. Try Cheryl and Carmin's graciousness as you stay at the Cloran Mansion. You will definitely be extremely pleased with you choice.

We recently stayed at the Cloran for 3 nights which included Thanksgiving day. While making the reservation I asked the Innkeepers if they knew a place serving Thanksgiving dinners around the Galena area. I was very pleased when Carmine replied that they cater in a full traditional meal for the guests. The meal was very good, the Innkeepers joined us at the table and we had a wonderful time. The conversation was great and we met several wonderful people like Susan, Carol and G. Overall I would say our experience at the Cloran exceeded our expectations. We had the opportunity to stay in 2 different rooms during our 3 day stay and were pleased with each of them.

Room was awesome. The fireplace with fan kept room toasty on the cold fall weekend we stayed. WE loved the whirlpool tub in the tower. The candles and cd player along with a library of cd s to choose from made it very romantic. Our innkeepers were great. We hadn't made reservation for Sat night and they had already reserved tables at various restaurants. Even when the one we wanted was taken they called around and swapped the reservation with another B&B. It was my husbands birthday and he was greated with a cake and balloon. All very nice touches. And most importantly, Don't miss breakfast. It is served hot as you arrive at the table and the french toast is to die for!!! Great weekend.

Refrig. has cold water and sodas. The grounds are beautiful. Cheryl and Carmine are very hospitable. The best in keepers you could ask for. The breakfast is delicious. They have a very nice screened in gazebo and an outside firepit all ready to lite. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood. It is truly a dream. We will return. Thank you Carmine and Cheryl...

This was our first B&B and this will be the only one we choose in the Galena area. The hosts, Cheryl and Carmine made us feel at home and treated us like family. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage and it was great. large wirlpool tub for two, fireplace, kitchenette. It was all very cozy. The House is beautiful inside and out, these owners have a lot of pride in their B&B and it shows. The breakfast was amazing, Cheryl's french toast will leave a lasting impression,as will Carmine's "perfect " eggs. This was out 15th anniversary and a trip that was long over due. We found our Oasis in Galena.

My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary recently at Cloran Mansion. It was our first experience at a B&B and we couldn't have chosen a better place. Cheryl and Carmine were wonderful hosts and the breakfast feast they served each morning kept us full until dinnertime. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to be. It's a few block out of town, away from the crowds and traffic. You can sit out in the gazebo or around the fireplace area and enjoy a book or pleasant conversation. The gardens are perfect for a small wedding. In fact, I think they will be hosting their 75th wedding at the mansion next month. The house itself is so quiet you hardly know anyone else is there. The rooms have all the amentities you could ask for. We wanted for nothing. We happened to stay in the Tower Room with its unique jacuzzi a floor above in the tower of the building. What a unique experience! If you are heading out to Galena, by all means consider staying at the Cloran Mansion if you want comfortable surroundings, fabulous food, a restful setting, and gracious hosts all within a few blocks of beautiful historic Galena!!

Carmine and Cheyl assisted in every detail, they went out of their way to make everything work - we had a fantastic wedding, partly thanks to them! The rooms were clean, nice and the breakfasts are incredible! We plan on going back each year.

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the Cloran Mansion in Galena IL and we LOVED it! Cannot think of even one element they needed to improve on. They let us store our cycle in their garage overnight, leaving their own car outside! The grounds are impeccable; hospitality the exact amount we needed to be comfortable and feel well cared for. The food was AWESOME; the room was fantastic. Highly recommended. We will definitely return; no need to search for an alternative.

The pictures of the cottage were exactly what we experienced. Being a stone's throw from the mansion gave privacy but convenience to come and go freely without a long walk. We didn't use the fireplace but it would be a nice option especially in the winter months. The kitchenette worked well to hold those yummy leftovers! For those with disabilities, this would be excellent because of their attention to ADA guidelines. A walker or wheelchair could easily be used. We didn't bring a pet, but it's one of the few places that allow small animals! Free internet access in the main house was a nice option. We had massages in the cottages and that was an awesome treat! Breakfast was a real treat since all the food is mainly from local farms and is so fresh! Everything tasted wonderful and they were great at accomodating my husband's dietary needs. Cheryl and Carmine have done a lot to restore a beautiful 1880's home that would make the Cloran family proud!

My husband and I stayed at Cloran Mansion as our first "empty nester" getaway. The Tower Room was wonderfully comfortable, and the service was outstanding. If you've never stayed at a B&B before or even if you have this is one you definitely need to check out. The breakfast is hot, filling, and tasty. (You can skip lunch after this.) Carmine and Cheryl are great hosts. They're both very accommodating, friendly, sociable, and make you feel like family in a very short time. The rooms each have a quaint country charm and have a distinct individual personality. The jacuzzi/tub was great for relaxing after a day of hiking and shopping. Listening to the waterfall at the pond in the gazebo beat any of those CD with "relaxing" sounds. The fire pit was a great place to meet and get to know the other guests. Everyone we talked to told us how they keep coming back to the Cloran Mansion year after year because the place is that good. We hope to make it an annual event too. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. L & D

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! My husband and I spent our first aniversary at the Cloran Mansion and were absolutely thrilled. Not only was the mansion itself beautiful and well kept, but Cheryl and Carmine went above and beyond to make the stay warm and welcome. They ordered me flowers, made dinner reservations, bought us a bottle of wine, made a card, gave us a balloon, and supplied free soda and water. In addition, Cheryl and Carmine took such pride in their landscape. They they had a gazebo, pond and firepit and even had all the ingredients for fire cooked popcorn. Lastly, the breakfast was ABSOLUTELY delicious. We would higly reccomend a stay at the Cloran for anyone who would like a weekend away.

My wife and I have stayed at the Cloran Mansion twice, once for 4 nights and once for 5 nights. Both times we have been treated like family. Our hosts,Cheryl and Carmine, have gone out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. Their generous breakfasts are an excellent way to begin the day. We find ourselves not eating again until evening, when we generally find one of the quality restaurants in the area. Small details like coffee-makers in the rooms, stocked soft drinks and bottled water in the mini-fridges, outdoor fire-pit, gazebo and water garden, and an extensive DVD collection bring us back. We've stayed at many B&Bs. Cloran Mansion is at the top of the list.

Everything when smoothly at the Cloran Mansion. Easy to find. The hosts were so friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. There were many details that you would never get at a hotel for example freshly baked cookies as we arrived to the mansion. The breakfasts were also very tasty. The room was just as we had seen it on their website. Our room had a mini fridge for us to use for left over food or our own wine or drinks. It was also filled with complimentary cokes and water. The whirlpool was very large and comfortable. They had a large selection of dvds free of charge and even games to keep us entertained. One night my partner and I sat at their gazebo which was very nice and romantic :) I had a great time and would definitely return.

We stayed at the Cloran because of the nice pictures we saw on the net and the price was right. It was our first time in a B&B and it was a pleasant surprise. We felt right at home and like we had known Cheryl and Carmine for a long time. The masion was immaculate and charming. The grounds were gorgeous with the waterfall, Koi pond and gazebo. You could even have an outside fire and pop popcorn! The big breakfast in the wonderful dining room was delicious. It was nice to converse with fellow guests and see where they were from. Cheryl and Carmine were very attentive and made sure we had enough to eat and told us the history of their life in the mansion as hosts. I took wonderful pictures and have them for the memories. I would love to go back again and visit. Got a big hug from Cheryl when leaving which was very touching. I would recommend The Cloran to anyone!

I loved the fact that this B&B offers a package for new "parents to be" which we are! It includes a couples massage (prenatal for mom) and sparking grape juice rather than wine, though you get a bottle of champagne to take home for after the little one is born! The innkeepers are very nice and very accomodating. The house is great and the food is too! We would definitely stay there again!

Absolutely incredible. Our first time at a B&B for 25th anniversary...will probably be the only B&B we'll ever stay at in Galena, as they set such a high standard that all others will probably disappoint. Charming and romantic, variety of rooms and pricing for all, hosts were like relatives/friends you enjoy spending lots of time with but who will be invisible when you prefer them to be. Breakfast was over the top, could not find similar in a gourmet restaurant. Fabuloso!

This was our first time at Cloran Mansion, and we had a memorable stay. We were celebrating our 11th anniversary and received a surprise bottle of wine, balloon, and card in our room. A great touch to the B&B was the guests' room which had a great array of DVDs, games, ice machine, microwave, coffee/drinks, and laptop for our leisure! The grounds was beautiful as well-a patio with fire pit, enclosed gazebo, and a beautiful pond. It's perfect for relaxing! Most of all, the breakfast was fantastic! We've been to several B&Bs and Cloran Mansion takes the cake! Potatoes, sausage, eggs, pancakes, french toast, toast, ham, are some of the dishes we had with our two night stay! And to top it off, Carmine and Cheryl are pleasant hosts and have much to share about Galena.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on our romantic getaway to Galena. It was a very pretty and cozy b&b and the inn keeper Carmine was very warm and eager to make sure we were comfortable. There was a very cute gazebo outside to enjoy and a fire pit available to be cozy at night if you wanted to sit outside. The breakfast was served on a very elegantly set dining room table with tasty food. Carmine was even sure to check for any dietary needs! There were also dvds available to watch in your room, along with cookies, popcorn, hot cocoa, tea, coffee, pop, or bottled water! We stayed in Alice's room which was very clean and cozy. I'm kinda of a whiny traveler, and let me tell you there was nothing to complain about during my two night stay here.

We spent a couple days at the Cloran mansion after a stressful week leading up to our wedding. The cottage was great. It was clean, comfortable, and just what we were looking for. The mansion itself was beautiful. As nice as the accomidations were, the real hit were the caretakers. The couple running the mansion were extremely friendly and eager to make our stay a pleasant one. We certainly felt welcome. They prepared a private romantic meal for us that was incredible and the breakfast the next morning was equally good. Our stay was short but we will be back again. Thumbs up from us!

Cherly and Carmine are wonderful hosts - it's like visiting your favorite aunt and uncle! The stay was restful with all the comforts of home and none of the hassles. Breakfast was awesome and my husband still raves about the potatoes!

Cheryl & Carmine are the best host in the world. My husband and I recently stayed here for our honeymoon, and were a little leary as we've never stayed at a B&B before, but they went above and beyond our expectations. They make a big delicious breakfast every morning, and serve it in a formal dining room. They are very friendly, genuine, and take pride in what they do. The grounds are very well kept with a waterfall into a pond of fish, a gazebo, and firepit. The gazebo is screened in and the bugs don't bother you, there are no mosquito's so no need for repellent. The service is excellent, and my husband and I now have a standing reservation every year coming to celebrate our anniversary there :-). It's very peace and serene, the people are pleasant, and they give you everything you need to enjoy yourself we were there a week, and I swear it was the best week of our lives!!! I have and will continue to recommend this place to everyone who'll listen. You won't regret your stay here.

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided to try a B&B for the first time. After our experience at the Cloran Mansion, we wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Cheryl and Carmine have created a wonderful atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The breakfast was incredible...my wife would like to see a Cloran Mansion Breakfast Cookbook for sale.

This was my third year at the Mansion. The food and hospitality are wonderful. Carmen and Cheryl, the owners make you feel like one of the family. I will continue to make this a great getaway for me and my friends.

This is the Bed and Breakfast to stay in Galena! No, Cheryl and Carmine are not paying me to write this! From the moment we arrived, my fiance and I were blown away by the elegance and beauty of the Cloran Mansion! The pictures do not do this gorgeous building any justice. The grounds are beautiful and romantic. Cheryl and Carmine are two of the kindest people and make you feel like they have known you forever. Also, Cheryl and Carmine give very good advice as to where to go during your stay. The breakfasts are amazing! Well worth every penny!

My wife and I decided to go to Galena to celebrate her Birthday. We chose Cloran because of its great reviews and the price was just right. We had a wonderful time. The breakfast was tasty and bountiful and the owners, Carmine and Cheryl, were exceptionally courteous. There was a pleasant surprise after our breakfast one day; Cheryl over heard our conversation of my wife's birthday and brought a cake to our room FOC. Quick note: The location of the Cloran is about a mile or more outside of town. My wife and I walked but if you can drive quite easily if you want.

We love staying at Cloran Mansion and have been there several times. My husband did the Galena Triathlon during our stay and we were celebrating our anniversary. The owners are incredible - very caring and concerned about making your stay enjoyable. There are plenty of things to do whether you prefer to go out or stay in and relax: whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, movie library (hundreds of movies!), gazebo, etc. The breakfasts are huge and fabulous home cooked meals. Just can't say enough about how much we love this place!!

We had a fabulous stay at the Cloran Mansion. Cheryl and Carmine were extremely welcoming and we were very comfortable. If we return, we will probably choose a room not next to the front door.

What a lovely place - romance and privacy abound at this quaint and beautiful B&B. With delicious breakfasts, beautiful guest rooms, a whirlpool tub, DVD library, a private candlelight dinner, and a dozen roses waiting for me in the room, what else could I have asked for. Cheryl and Carmine made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable than we thought possible. I'm ready to go back!

My wife and I are always looking for a perfect romantic overnight stay, and we found it in Galena at the Cloran Mansion. We stay in a lot of bed and breakfasts, so we're pretty picky about places. The Cloran Mansion exceeded our expectations, and the breakfast was second-to-none. Nice touches in the house--coffee and cookies anytime in the library, an extensive DVD library (along with flat screen TV and DVD player in each room), and a small firelplace which was nice on a cold spring night. Carmine and Cheryl are extremely personable, and made sure we were happy with everything. We'll be back, and we'll recommend The Cloran Mansion to friends. --Steve and Emida R., Verona, WI

My wife and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the Cloran Mansion. We stayed in Ann's Room. Carmine greeted us by using our names, which was a very personal touch. He showed us around the mansion and then showed us to our room. The pictures do this room no justice. It was beyond our expectations! It was very nice with a personal touch - Carmine and Cheryl had an anniversary helium balloon, a bottle of wine, and a personalized card! The room was VERY clean, quiet, and romantic. We could see that Ann's Room was just what we wanted. The fireplace made the room VERY cozy and the 2 person whirlpool topped it off! The breakfast was outstanding! There was plenty of food and we ate some of everything and were not disappointed. The other guests were very friendly and the entire atmosphere had a home feeling. This was our first bed and breakfast and will nto be our last. We definitely plan on staying in the future at the Cloran Mansion and would reccomend it to others.

Carmine & Cheryl have the B&B stay down to an art. On our first visit, we got married on the property and everything was taken care of, to the smallest detail. The cottage on site is perfect for newlyweds. Our second visit was a weekend get-a-way and again, everything was perfect. The breakfast has a reputation throughout town and after one sitting, you'll understand why. Carmine & Cheryl and thier staff are very attentive to all needs of the guests without getting in your way. We have recommended the Cloran Mansion to family and friends and would recommend it to everyone visiting the Galena area. Sincerely, Paul and Lisa Campbell, Cortland Illinois

This was our third visit to the Cloran Mansion. It was as wonderful as our previous visits. Everything - from the beautiful room, to the wonderful breakfasts, to the accommodating hosts - was just perfect. Cheryl & Carmine are the reason we return to Galena when we need a break. They are gracious hosts and run a top-notch B&B. Although there are many B&B's to choose from in the Galena area, we can't imagine staying anywhere other than the Cloran Mansion. Ray & Tanya Lee

We arrived later in the evening, and Cheryl and Carmine were at the door to welcome us. Our room was immaculate, and every detail had been attended to. I loved the gas fireplace in the room! We fell asleep in front of the fire every night. Having a whirlpool tub for two was great for relaxing after skiing, as was the in-house massage we scheduled. Breakfast was fantastic! Carmine and Cheryl put out an amazing spread. We'll definitely be back!

You will get an especially warm welcome when you arrive at the Cloran Mansion. On the tour, we discovered that the mansion has all the character and charm of the original dwelling, yet has been completely updated. It was all decked out for the holidays both inside and out. Our room had a huge jet whirlpool and a fireplace that we really enjoyed after full days of hiking nature trails and shopping on Main Street. Maybe the best part of our stay was the scrumptious breakfast; homemade pancakes, waffles, eggs, hashbrowns, bagels and more. If you have a special diet, including gluten free, Cheryl makes your breakfast to order, according to your specifications. We will certainly return for another visit.

My husband and I have stayed at the Cloran Mansion twice now, and have loved everything about our stays. The room was comfortable - the linens, plush bathrobes, fireplace, mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beverages, the TV/DVD. There is a common room with DVDs and CDs to borrow, and coffee for early risers. Carmine and Cheryl offer several add-ons to your reservation; my husband and I had a couples' massage in the mansion. Other things you can add on include a private dinner (we didn't take advantage of this, but I'm sure it's wonderful - they're great cooks); check out their website for other ideas. Breakfast at the Cloran is a feast. You will not leave hungry! Their breakfast offerings change all the time, but when we were there we had fabulous pumpkin pancakes one day. The potatoes are always delicious, and the eggs were made to order. The property is a short distance from the tourist hub of downtown Galena, but that wasn't an issue for us. We liked leaving the center of town and driving back to the mansion at night. (It's a very short drive, by the way.) Cheryl and Carmine are great hosts and really did everything they could to make us all feel welcome. We look forward to our return to the Cloran Mansion.

After researching, we knew the Cloran Mansion would be The Place to marry. From planning to heartfelt hugs upon leaving, we felt welcomed. If you are planning a special occasion, consider the Cloran Mansion. A few clicks of a mouse, a couple emails exchanges and our wedding was planned. When Cheryl says they have everything they need and to let them take it from there, BELIEVE her! Our wedding was everything we imagined it to be. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage, which along with the mansion and grounds, were impeccably decorated. The landscaping, waterfall and gazebo add to the scenery. We set the Cloran Mansion apart for the following reasons: Value (reasonably priced, worth every cent), Hospitality (you will feel like family...even better), Cleanliness (impeccable), Charm (of innkeepers, decor, home, grounds), and Details (attentiveness). Everything was attended to and set to be "special". Carmine and Cheryl are in the right business, as it is clear by their professionalism and hospitality. Other B&B owners should take lessons from Carmine and Cheryl. It's the little details that count, from the beautifully set table every morning, to Carmine's delicious breakfasts, to the care they exude, making their guests happy, going out of their way to make requests possible. Cheryl came to my rescue at the final few moments prior to the ceremony, to fasten my gown. She took many lovely photographs, as did Carmine. As a team, they coordinate everything they tackle with amazing fluidity! Our wedding was at 3pm, and another second wedding at 5pm. How they pulled it off, I am not sure, but they did! Beautifully! We have given Cloran Mansion rave reviews to friends/family Ultimately, the Cloran Mansion is the best B&B we have visited, due to the gracious, caring hosts who clearly go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome.

Cloran Mansion is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in Galena. I treat my mother to an overnight here every year for her birthday. A great getaway for any reason. Cheryl and Carmine's hospitality is their greatest asset. We love to chat during breakfast with the other guests as well. The rooms are inviting and cozy. We look forward to next year.

From the moment you park your car and walk across the grounds, and are ultimatley greeted by your hosts at the front door, you know that your stay at the Cloran will be special. The breakfasts are tremendous. Rooms are very well maintained, spacious, and tastfully decorated. In Saras Suite we had a stocked refrigerator, whirlpool for two, robes, snacks, sitting area, satelite TV/DVD/Stereo, fireplace and more. The Gardens are beautiful and inviting. We spent much time in the gazebo enjoying the pond and fountains. Cheryl and Carmine go out of their way to make sure you feel like the house is your home while you are there, and are very knowledgable about the local history/attractions. We are looking forward to our next stay.

We have found the most wonderful bed & breakfast in Galena. We just had our fifth stay there in Sept. 08 and are planning our next visit. The Cloran Mansion has so many features it is so hard to write it all. There great breakfast is something you do not want to miss. The awesome grounds, The gazabo to relax in, watch the fish in there beautiful pond. and than to finish the evening sitting by the firepit and enjoying the other guest. You won't be sorry. We just returned from Galena, Illinois where we stayed at the Cloran Mansion Bed and Breakfast. We were upgraded at no additional charge to a more spacious room with a jacuzzi tub and fireplace. We had mentioned that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and when we returned from dinner that evening there was a complementary bottle of wine in our room, two wine flutes, and a beautiful personalized card. The breakfasts each morning were some of the best we have ever had at a B&B! The Cloran Mansion has central air and a lounge room with hundreds of DVD's. The owners are friendly and helpful and the rooms are reasonably priced. The web site is very complete with pictures and details of each room. All in all, this was one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in with every amenity on could want. We heartily recommend it!

This was our first stay at a B&B. I was a little nervous dragging my husband there, but we both were very pleased with the Cloran Mansion. It was quiet and relaxing- just what we needed. Breakfast was superb. We stayed in Ann's room, & peeked in at the other ones not occupied- all nicely decorated. I wish it were colder out so we could use the fireplace! We took advantage of their extensive DVD collection, had a couple's massage, and enjoyed the atmosphere. I would return again anytime.

The owner was very polite and friendly. The room was fantastic and was very clean. Carmine was very imformative as were to go and things to see. He made a fantastic breakfast. They were more concerned with how things were and what they could do to make your next stay even better. I have already made my reservation for another stay. We are even planning on doing our sons wedding there. You can not ask for a more romantic atmosphere, or even just a night to relax.

What a fantastic way to enjoy a weekend away. We enjoyed a beautiful room with a whirlpool for two. Had a romantic dinner followed by a couples massage and sat out in the gazeebo for a relaxing end to a terrific day. How could it get any better. ....The next morning we had a breakfast that words cannot describe. We were so full we didn't have lunch. As if that we not enough the Innkeepers Carmine and Cheryl so kind and welcoming that you feel like you are at home the minute you enter the Inn. We plan to go back as often as possible.

Their brochure describes the Cloran Mansion as a "Romantic Getaway" and that aptly describes our experience. We live less than 20 miles from the Cloran and it is our "getaway" of choice. We stayed in Sara's Suite one year ago and we were disappointed that it was not available for our anniversary this year. Instead we stayed two nights in Antonio's Cottage and found it to be every bit as nice as Sara's Suite. Carmine and Cheryl make you feel like family returning for a visit. We love the screened-in gazebo. It is next to a beautiful garden and tropical fish pond. With the bubbling fountain and the birds singing, you would think you were in the country rather than only a couple blocks from a busy highway. We spent several hours both days just relaxing and reading in the gazebo. The breakfasts that Carmine and Cheryl serve are delicious and plentiful. The puff pancakes filled with cherries are out of this world! We will definitely return to the Cloran on our next anniversary (if not before).
5 on August 10, 2008
Overall, this place was awesome! WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! This was our first time in a B&B, and Carmine and Cheryl couldn't have made it a more wonderful time! We stayed in the Tower Suite, which has a King size bed, private bathroom (w/ shower), and a private 2 person jacuzzi in the cupola of the mansion. The room was excellent--the room was stocked with pop and water, we had satellite TV, there were rubber ducky's and bath salts in the jacuzzi, and a very comfortable room overall! Service was quality too--the owners were there to greet us even though we got in a little later than standard (around 5pm), and made certain we knew where everything was. They provide a full library of DVDs and CDs, and coffee/tea/cookies are available in the library at all times! Breakfast was delicious--the owners claim it is not 'gourmet' because they don't use crazy ingredients like at some frou-frou restaurants, but the first morning we had craisin French Toast, Hashed browns, bacon, cook-to-order eggs, and fresh juice and coffee; the second morning was delicious Apple Pancakes, sausage, cook-to-order eggs, hashed browns and juice/coffee. They serve breakfast LATE (from 9:00-10:30am), so you can sleep in if you like. It means a slightly later start to the day, but makes it MUCH more relaxing! It's a close drive to the downtown of Galena (less than 5 minute drive), which has a lot of fun shopping and history. There's also a screened-in gazebo, koi pond, garden, and fire pit on the grounds that are perfectly enjoyable. Good times! The only things I didn't like: The room had a lot of old pictures of bride/grooms, which in my opinion made it feel a little cluttered. Some of the wallpaper above the shower was bubbling out--probably too many steamy showers. :) And there was no temp control in the room, so we had to rely on the ceiling fan, which was fine. Those are all VERY little points in the grand scheme of things, and this place ranks a 9.5 out of 10 in my book!

This B & B "Rocks" and best kept secret is the hospitality and special breakfasts and not just the farmer eggs and bacon. All special touches from the china, tablecloths, to the music. LOVE it!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay for our anniversary. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage which was a private romantic retreat. We also had access to everything located in the house. It was better than expected. We started our stay with a couple's massage on the premises and followed it with a private candle light dinner provided by the B&B in their romance package that was simply amazing! The host Carmen and hostess Cheryl were absolutely charming, wonderful people and they cooked the best breakfast ever. We often could not eat until dinner because we were so full from the unbelievable 6 course breakfast. They were very full of knowledge about the area and gave us great recommendations regarding sites to see. The pictures do not do this place justice, it was great to see that the rooms were better than described and shown in pictures. We can't wait to go back next year as it will now be one of our traditions! Jake and Mandy, Iowa

I arranged a 3 night stay at Cloran Mansion as a surprise (for my husband) anniversary getaway. I made all of the arrangements online: viewed the rooms and their availability; extras available (anniversay dinner, massages, flowers, etc.);and reservations. Cheryl and Carmine have thought of everything and it is evident that they love what they are doing. My boyfriend and I stayed there for my birthday celebration. Carmine and Cheryl are wonderful hosts. I must say that we have found our favorite place and we will be back many times! The name really does apply, it’s a Mansion. We were upgraded no charge to a nicer room but all rooms are great! The rooms are decorated beautifully and the bathrooms have a large two person whirlpool, completed with bath salts and soft, plush robes. There is also a mini-refrigerator with complimentary water and soda and a gas fireplace. TV with satellite dish and DVD player. The main living area has a large DVD library, along with coffee maker, popcorn, homemade cookies, board games and a laptop with Internet access. The breakfast was excellent, no need for lunch after that! We had French toast that was to die for…..eggs made to order, ham, and the potatoes were delicious. Cheryl and Carmine are excellent cooks. All served in a beautiful dining room, with fine china, and linens. The grounds are well cared for, with a beautiful gazebo and a pond with fish. You can also make a fire in the firepit. Overall a very romantic weekend; I am already recommending this B & B to my friends.

The innkeepers Carmine and Cheryl on very short notice arranged a wonderful private wedding for us. We had a relaxing afternoon of therapeutic massage, an early evening ceremony followed by a wonderful candlelit dinner for two. They set up everything including the officiant, the flowers, cake, champagne and keepsake glasses. A perfect weekend which will always be remembered and relived.

My husband and I eloped to Galena and we couldnt have asked for a better way to start our new life. Carmine and Cheryl were the greatest, their home is beautiful and we couldnt have asked for more. The food was incredible and the breakfast, wow! They were more than accomodating and their place is absolutely gorgeous. We've already booked our first year anniversay! Thank you to two very wonderful people and a wonderful daughter you have too! She was most enjoyable and did a fantastic job! Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Cloran Mansion is a majestic bed and breakfast hosted by two wonderful, friendly people. My husband and I spent the weekend in Sara's Suite, which was lavishly decorated but still cozy, with a fireplace and whirlpool. Carmine and Cheryl serve a first-rate breakfast--we never had room for lunch during our stay! C & C's attention to detail and extra special touches made our stay truly magical. We will be back!

The Cloran Mansion is the best kept secret in Galena, IL. Cheryl and Carmine are a breath of fresh air. Their B & B is cozy, comfortable and very intimate. The breakfast was outstanding, truly delicious! Don't pass up the cottage - a wonderful little get away and the extra privacy is a plus.

The Cloran Mansion is beautiful. We have been there several times in the past 3 years. Carmine and Cheryl treat you like family. The rooms are beautiful with so many personal touches. The breakfast is outstanding (you will not leave hungry).

This B & B is located just "up the hill" from the main shopping district. If you like to walk it would be pleasant. The breakfast was eggs made to order with all the trimmings you could want. Lovely rooms, with a sitting room for anyone to use, lots of videos, and the owners are extremely charming and very hospitable.

This is the second time we've been to the Cloran Mansion. My husband was not big on B&B's before we went here in the summer for the first time. After staying with Carmine and Cheryl, he said this would be the place we go back to. We spent several nights there between Christmas and New Year's and had a great time. We were celebrating birthdays and when we got there, there was a cake, balloon, and personalized birthday cards in our room. What a pleasant surprise. The food is very good and you get plenty. If you go away hungry, it's your own fault. Carmine and Cheryl are wonderful hosts. They pay attention to all the little details that make it extra special. We'll definitely go back.

Great experience for our first time at a B&B. We got the "couples package", with massage for 2 and dinner. Very relaxing. Food was excellent! Try the Tower room with the Jacuzzi in the tower.

Carmine and Cheryl are like old friends, there are so many extra things done that you can hardly count them. The food is just the greatest. It's great fun to be there.

This trip was our first experience to a bed and breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised. It was a memorable stay and exceeded my expectations. The innkeepers were very welcoming and made our visit extremely comfortable. We'll always come back!

My husband and I wanted to stay somewhere different than a hotel. We've heard how nice B&B's are so we thought we give it a try. It was every bit what we had heard from friends and more. The hospitality was fantastic and very private. Great place to stay and we will make it an annual trip.

My husband & I received a gift certificate to the Cloran Mansion from some of my former neighbors when we got married last summer. We decided to go in the Fall, and it is becoming our new tradition to get away together, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Galena in Autumn, and make some special memories together there. We stay in Antonio's Cottage, a wonderful addition to the Bed & Breakfast which is not only handicapped-accessible, but also child and pet friendly! This means we can bring our dog along with us, and we totally enjoy every minute of our weekend in our cozy cottage. The breakfasts are out of this world, and the warmth of the Innkeepers, Carmine & Cheryl, is genuine. We've met many wonderful people there, some visiting for the first time, and some on their 3rd or 4th visit. The grounds are beautiful, with something new each time, and always is seasonal and charming. We have already made plans for next year's get-away, and we can't wait for another wonderful getaway! Next time, at the urging of many of the other guests, we are planning on getting a couples' massage, although it's hard to imagine getting any more relaxed at the Cloran Mansion!

We stayed for our anniversary and were met with a cake and personalized card. The rooms, food and service were fabulous. We loved Carmine and Cheryl. We enjoyed an in-room couples massage and a candlelight dinner. Very romantic-try it!!!

My husband & I stayed at the Cloran Mansion for our one-year wedding anniversary. It was our first time at a B&B and it was wonderful. The inn was lovely; as were the grounds. John's Room was so comfortable and inviting. Cheryl & Carmine are great hosts. They even surprised us with a chocolate cake, balloon, and card in honor of our anniversary. We will definitely be back!!

My husband and I just returned from our 4th visit to Cheryl and Carmines wonderful B & B. We absolutely love it there! Breakfast is to die for with special touches from both Cheryl and Carmine. Everytime we've been there, it's like being at your own home. We love the individuality of each of the rooms.

We stayed in Sara's Suite with our 1 year son....it was wonderful and roomy! When we return to Galena we will surely pick the Cloran Mansion again for our accomadations!

Innkeepers were very friendly. Great amenities of complimentary pop/water in room. Complimentary chocolate candy, and baked goods, in common rooms. Large complimenatry collection of DVDs available for use in room. The bathroom in Ann's room is beautiful. Down side of B&B is that it is not close enough to downtown Galena to walk. The neighborhood it is located in is close to some commercial properities so the location is not as quaint as some of the other B&B in Galena. However the grounds of this B&B are very lovely.

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and they have set the level of expectations very high! We weren't too sure about spending our 37th anniversary with strangers but Carmine and Cheryl made us feel like we have known them forever! It was most comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious! Who needs 3 meals when your breakfast is so hearty and varied! We highly recommend their home....and it's just far enough away from downtown to be very peaceful yet minutes away from the action.

We have stayed at the Cloran Mansion for three straight years and feel no need to look for another B&B. Carmine and Cheryl are friendly, very accommodating, and make you feel like one of the family. A very enjoyable stay that we highly recommend.

What a beautiful B & B. Much more than we expected. The innkeepers Carmine and Cheryl are great, they really did a fantastic job accomadating all of our needs. Great cooks too!!! We will return!!

My husband booked the room in this lovely B&B and everything was perfect. The grounds are beautiful and very relaxing--gazebo and pond among beautiful flowers. The room was perfect and had everything you could want--private bath, mini frig, TV in a beautiful bedroom setting. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful--cherry pancakes and a lot more. Lots of little details--candy in a bowl, olay face wipes, spa shampoo and bath gel, etc.

Cloran Mansion was the fifth B & B we have stayed in this summer. It is definitely #1 in our book. Carmine and Cheryl are gracious hosts and devoted to making the guests’ stay a wonderful experience. Sara’s Suite is beautiful and so comfortable. It was our anniversary, and we were greeted with roses, a balloon, card and a delicious cake. The gazebo and fish pond are delightful as well as the flower gardens. The breakfasts are bountiful and beautifully presented. We were surprised how many of the guests at breakfast were there for repeat visits. We only live about 15 miles from the Cloran Mansion but we will definitely go back the next time we want to get away for a few days!

My husband and I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts throughout the country and the Cloran Mansion in Galena is in our top three. We make it a point to visit the mansion once each year and feel like we are "coming home" each time. Cheryl and Carmine are such wonderful hosts and the experience is perfect. The rooms in the mansion are wonderful and have such thoughtful touches added to each one. The grounds are fabulous and quiet with lovely flower gardens, a relaxing screened gazebo and a tranquil water pond. Breakfast each morning is a real delight and the best of any B and B's we have found. Recently we added a dog to our family and stay in the cottage next to the mansion. The cottage is also top notch and is perfect if you bring children or a pet. A stay at the Cloran Mansion is a rejuvenating experience and should not be missed.

I've been to Galena a few times, this time for our 26th anniversary and without 40 Boy Scouts in tow! What a wonderful stay!! This is our first time in a B&B and if all of them are like this, I'll never do a hotel again. Cheryl and Carmine made this a very memorable anniversary and a most relaxing one also. The grounds are beautiful and close enough to the downtown that you could walk there...granted it's a bit of a walk. We will be staying there again in the future. Thanks again.

The "mansion" was very comfortable and the hosts seemed to know exactly when you needed something and exactly when you wanted privacy. The sweet firetable in the front of the home provided a perfect place to meet other guests, share stories and enjoy a summer evening. I would highly recommend this B and B if you are staying in the Galena area!

The Cloran Mansion Bed and Breakfast is a magnificent home away from home. Carmine and Cheryl treat you as royalty and ensure that your stay is comfortable and relaxed. The balloon and birthday cake was such a thoughtful touch when we arrived!

The Cloran Mansion Bed & Breakfast is a delightful and charming B & B for those of you seeking the perfect retreat. The grounds are impressive with a beautiful gazebo, fountain, garden walkway, and seating area to build your own fire! The owners of this lovely establishment, Carmine and Cheryl, were absolutely fantastic. Their personal warmth and wonderful hospitality created the perfect getaway for my family. Gracious and kind, they prepared a delicious complimentary breakfast which could compete with any gourmet restaurant! We had the privilege of residing in the Tower Room where the double whirlpool was tucked away in a peak location (tower!) of this charming B & B. Special and luxurious amenities were provided to enhance this whirlpool experience. The room was beautifully decorated as it was clear that the owners spent a considerable amount of time and energy in creating a room that was both exceedingly comfortable and breathtakingly beautiful. Whereas Galena offers travelers a myriad of shops and restaurants to peruse, we had great difficulties leaving our gorgeous room to visit this quaint, small town. We were given the opportunity to utilize bikes when touring the town, which greatly contributed to our fun retreat! Much to our surprise, we were greeted with a tray of freshly baked cookies upon returning from our adventure! Our room was furnished with a small refridgerator filled with softdrinks and water - all complimentary! The perfect accompaniment to those delicious chocolate chip cookies! If I were to make one improvement, it would be to offer guests some additional space to store personal items in the rooms. Our room was so beautifully adorned with various antiques, I did not want to ruin any of these precious items with my personal belongings in such close proximity to these furnishings! I cannot recommend the Cloran Mansion B & B highly enough. I will return to this B & B again and again!

We stayed at Clorin July 5-8. What a lovely surprise. This was our second time at a B&B so we did not know what to expect. Carmine and Cheryl met us at the door and said that we should "make it our home" and boy were they right. We felt immediately comfortable. The breakfasts were great. We tried to guess what would be served the next day. Never a disappointment!

Quiet and very relaxing. Beautiful grounds. Wonderful hosts and very nice rooms. The owners have thought of everything in order to give guests the comforts of home away from home. Homemade cookies, coffee whenever you'd like it, popcorn for that afternoon or evening snack, a cookie jar and chocolate candy, bath pillows, sea salts, umbrellas, etc.. I could go on and on. And the breakfasts are unbelievably good! We'll be back and we'll tell all our friends and family about Cloran Mansion.

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast and to be honest--we didn't know what to expect. We were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary and wanted to stay somewhere quiet and romantic. The Cloran Mansion was it! Cheryl and Carmine were so nice and had an anniversary card, balloon and cake in our room for us when we arrived. What a pleasant surprise! Very clean, peaceful and romantic get-away. The outside was very nice as well, decorated with lovely flowers, a pond, gazebo, firepit, etc. We really felt like home there! Thanks for the nice time! We truly enjoyed our stay.

This was our fourth stay at the Cloran Mansion, and the hospitality & amenities just keep bringing us back! Carmen & Cheryl are wonderful hosts, making you feel right at home while not being intrusive. The mansion is beautiful, the rooms cozy, and the FULL breakfast will satisfy any appetite. We originally tried Cloran because each room was advertised as having a fire place and a jacuzzi tub. We confirmed this was true, but found their were even better reasons for coming back. While slightly off the main street in Galena, its a short drive or walk to the downtown area, which gives a lot of quiet and privacy, which is nice if you decide to sit outsite at night in the gazebo. We will be going back again next year, and would strongly recommend the Cloran Mansion to anyone!!

Our stay at the Cloran Mansion B&B was wonderful! We were looking for a special place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we found it here. Cheryl & Carmine couldn't have been more gracious hosts who made us feel like family. We will definitely go back and highly recommend it to others! We stayed in "Antonio's Cottage" which is separate from the mansion. It was quiet, personal and romantic yet close enough to access the mansion for breakfast and any of our needs!

My husband and I were married at the Cloran two years ago, and we have returned each year on our anniversary. We regularly try other B&B's in other towns, but the Cloran is still the best of the best. The rooms are beautiful and very clean (I'm quite picky about cleanliness), the grounds are wonderful to sit, relax and enjoy, and the breakfast is to die for! (You won't need lunch.) Above all, Carmine and Cheryl are welcoming and caring owners. If you are looking for a romantic B&B where you feel instantly comfortable, this is it. Oh, and have I mentioned the hot tubs, need I say more?

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at the Cloran Mansion just this past weekend. We had a great time. Carmine & Cheryl are awesome hosts and their personal service is appreciated. We stayed in Antonio's Cottage. The in room massages and private candle lit dinner in our room was awesome. We highly recommended the Cloran Mansion

Cloran Mansion is a great romantic getaway or girlfriends getaway. The B&B has 5 rooms or a cottage - most with whirlpool tubs & fireplaces - all w/TV, DVD, VCR. The owneres make your stay special. We actually just got married here! Would very highly recommend!!!

You feel very much at home at Cloran Mansion. Cheryl and Carmine are wonderful and thoughtful hosts. Their attention to detail makes Cloran Mansion a cut above the rest. From the firepit and gazebo outside to the luxurious bath and fire place in the room, you feel rejuvenated and special when you are here. I plan on going back with family and friends whenever possible.

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at the Cloran Mansion, and stayed in the cottage. When we arrived there was a little cake and a personalized card waiting for us on the table! We were so happy with the personalization. The room was immaculately clean, the innkeepers were VERY friendly and the food was spectacular! The endless cookie jar and move library is great too! I definitely recommend Cloran Mansion to anyone that is thinking of visiting Galena. It is a little off the main drag, but that was what my husband and I were looking for.
