My wife and I recently stayed here for our 1st Anniversary and wow were we impressed! From that first moment when we were greeted by name and given a tour of the house to the rooms we had brought for and the meals that were personally brought up to the room every morning, it was simply magical! We enjoyed everything about the room and we look forward to coming back again!

We were looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights while in Galena. This fit our needs. Lorraine and her husband were very gracious hosts and served wonderful breakfasts. They even let me use their freezer for the fresh blueberries we purchased!

If you want exceptional warm service this is the place to stay. The owners are beautiful people and made us feel right at home. They were willing to do whatever it took to make us comfortable. This is not my first time staying there and the service brought me back. The grounds are beautiful and you feel like you are stepping back in time. GORGEOUS! If you have not stayed there you should...Jan and Lorraine are amazing!

I chose Belle Aire Mansion to surprise my wife for our 39th wedding anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised as well. Jan and Lorraine treated us like family. Breakfast was supposedly "healthy" although I question whether the apple/cinnamon/walnut/etc. pancake (that was more like a fancy coffee cake) topped with apple/maple syrup was really healthy. However, it was REALLY good. We will be back again....

Very friendly and homey feel. Breakfast was delicious French toast and baked apples. Good value.

This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. We will certainly do it again. The host was outstanding and the breakfast in the morning was great. The fireplace in the room didn't work, but otherwise the room was very clean and bed was comfortable.
Thank you for the nice review. I wish you would have let me know that your fireplace was not working. They get a bit fussy when they haven't been used for a bit. I would have been glad to get it going for you. I hope that you will come back and see us again. Thanks, again.

Jan & Lorraine are absolutely wonderful. I loved the atmosphere and people. I will definitely be going back!

Jan and Lorraine made our first B&B stay one to remember!! They were so hospitable, making us feel like family throughout our stay, and really went above and beyond for us!! The food was great, the beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and they were very knowledgable about what was going on in the town!! I highly recommend staying at the Belle Aire to anybody looking for a quiet getaway with great people! Our stay was perfect and we will definitely be back!

Lorraine and Jan are gracious hosts and people. The house is amazing and very cozy. It was my home away from home and I enjoyed staying here and will again soon. The food and company is something I will never forget, one of the best bed and breakfast experiences I have had.

Jan & Lorraine go out of their way to make your visit special with many added extras. While the rooms are more than adequate, the suites are very roomy. Definitely a very good place to stay while visiting Galena.

We've stayed in Galena more that a handful of times and this is by far the best value. Sure it's not right by Main Street, but the gracious hosts offer to give you rides to Main Street and back (as long as the return time is not too late). They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The breakfast was fantastic!

If you're interested in a B&B in Galena, look no further. Lorraine and Jan make you feel like you've just gone back home to visit mom and pop, a true homey comfort is felt when staying there. The rooms are as expected through the pics you can see online. If you're going in the winter time, perhaps ask for an oscillating fan or two, as it can get quite toasty in there. Opening the windows seemed to work just as well. Lorraine and Jan have been in the area for several decades, so they're also quite knowledgeable about the area and its histories, shops, restaurants, etc, and it proved to be helpful. Oh, and I cannot forget to mention the WONDERFUL breakfasts that are served! Mmm mmm! If you have allergies, they will cater to your needs, as well. Lastly, the home is quite beautiful. The specific rooms are all updated enough for today's standards, but the history and beauty of the home as a whole make it such an enjoyable experience. All in all, it was well worth the money we paid and would stay there again.

Jan and Lorraine were two of the friendliest people we have ever met. They made you feel right at home. We could have stayed and talked to Lorraine all day. Very knowledgable about Galena and surrounding areas and activities. You can tell they have a passion for what they do, and we will definitely stay there the next time we head to Galena.

The Belle Aire Mansion was very quiet and restful and the innkeepers, Jan and Lorraine were very personable and helpful. My bride and I stayed here 2 nights at the end of May for our 28th wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Canopy Suite which had a sitting room, private bath, fire place, whirlpool and very comfortable bed. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the room added a special touch. The breakfast was very good and Lorraine was very willing to accommodate any dietary restrictions we might have had. The Mansion is set far back on the property and is extremely quiet. It is located only a few minutes from downtown Galena. It was our first time to Galena area and it was like we had a personal assistant helping us make the most of every minute there. This B & B became an integral part of the whole Galena experience not just a sleeping place.

Loved the Belle Aire Mansion! Jan and Lorraine were great hosts and were helpful in touring Galena. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

My visit to the Belle Aire Mansion was very pleasant and made my weekend stay in Galena quite memorable. Quiet rooms, excellent food, and exceptionally friendly and accommodating hosts all made the experience unique. I would definitely return there again!

We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time. The primary goal was to relax and get away from it all for a few hours. We mainly stayed at the B&B with a couple of small excursions into Galena. The facilities at the Garden Vue Room were excellent, the fireplace and the balcony were our favorites. We could of done with seeing more of Jackson, the delightful gentleman of a lab that lives with Lorraine and Jan, but I suppose he had other duties to attend to. The food is outstanding, to be honest they were the best meals we found in Galena, and the bed was very comfortable. I don't usually sleep well in a strange bed, but I was out like a light and stayed out there. I think it's fair to say you do get your money's worth. It was hard leaving that Sunday, I seriously wanted to stay one more night, but we all know how that goes.
3.4 on April 02, 2015
We fully enjoyed our stay at Belle Aire. We had the Garden Vue Suite which is the largest of the rooms. Lots of sunshine, small balcony, fire place, and a two person Jacuzzi to unwind in at the end of the night. Lorraine an Jan were very friendly and the breakfast was delish. The B&B is not in walking distance of downtown Galena but only a short drive down 20. It was a very relaxing get away and we enjoyed our stay there.

Enjoyed staying here. Felt like walking into my grandmother's home. Welcomed every time. Porch furniture and rooms may need some updating but we enjoyed our stay. The service was wonderful and warm. The value of our room was good for our two day stay. Enjoyed breakfast time with the other guests and innkeeper.

We loved staying at the Belle Aire Mansion Guest House! Lorraine is possibly one of the sweetest people you will ever meet in your life and her pecan french toast is out of this world! I honestly cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Galena when I know how wonderful the Belle Aire Mansion is! Completely recommend!

Lorraine and Jan will help you out with anything that you might need. The breakfast is always great.
4.8 on August 11, 2014
Aunt Lorraine, as she calls herself, is so friendly and has the second-mother feel to her. You know, the type you feel you could tell anything too? Which especially makes it extra homey here. For a family room, The Blue Room, there should be more garbage cans and there is an really annoying drip when using the shower. Finding "secure, tight" outlets to charge our cell phones was challenging. We kept forgetting to bring bottled water back with us, to put in the communal fridge in the hallway; otherwise I believe it may be well water. The breakfast each morning was delicious! It's great not having to worrying to about going somewhere for breakfast in the morning. I liked the location; not even 5 minutes away from the shopping in Downtown Galena. Was out of town a bit, but was perfect as it was quite. Miniature Golf is only 2 minutes away; nothing special yet still fun as a date night. Overall, we would stay here again. The only reason we wouldn't is because we wanted to try something new/different.
4.0 on August 11, 2014
The owners are very helpful in getting everything you request. The rooms are country decorated, which is not my style, but fits in the part of the country you are in. It is in a nice location to get to downtown Galena very easily for exploring the many shops. Would consider going back and trying one of the other rooms.

We recently had our first stay at BA. We absolutely lived the charm of the house as well as the innkeepers. Loraine makes you feel at home immediately and goes out of her way to make sure you're happy. Breakfast was delicious, the garden view suite was fantastic! The only improvements I could possible think of would be a flat screen tv in the master suite and adding a DVD collection alongside the VHS one. It would also be so cool to have some hammocks to lay in around the property since it's so beautiful out there. Loved our stay and we can't wait to go back!

Jan and Lorriane are wonderful innkeepers!!!! thoughly enjoyed my stay there. One negative: the bed in the victorian room was less than comfortable, and every move you made the bed made noise to. I would encorage the innkeepers to have that taken care. YES! I would stay again. Thank you Jan and Lorriane!

This was our first stay at the Belle Aire but it won't be our last. We stayed in the Blue room which was very comfortable and private. Our hosts, Jan & Lorraine made us feel right at home and went out of their way creating unique delicious meals to accommodate a food allergy. We enjoyed their company and the other guests were great. I would highly recommend the Belle Aire you won't be disappointed!

When we arrived, Lorraine told us that there were some unexpected vacancies tonight and if we were interested, we could upgrade to another room (originally we were staying in "Ruthie's Room". We looked around for a bit decided to go with the upgrade. The new room was fantastic! Hot tub and all the amenities! As part of the check-in process, Lorraine asked if there were any special dietary requirements. My girlfriend has a digestive issue with certain types of foods. Jan went into Galena to pickup the ingredients for a breakfast just for us that satisfied the requirements. It was a fantastic trip, I look forward to spending another weekend in Galena. If we do, it will definitely be with Jan & Lorraine at the Belle Aire Mansion Guest House.

Jan & Lorraine are very welcoming and hospitable! They also cook up a mean breakfast that makes you want to stay an extra night just for the food. They explained everything up front and held a good balance in keeping their space and wanting to learn about your life.

If you're looking for a great get away, I would highly recommend the Belle Aire. My boyfriend and I stayed their for a romantic night on our anniversary. We were delighted by the features of our suite. The pictures on the website of the Canopy Suite do not do it justice! The bedside whirlpool was wonderful and the fireplace was so relaxing. The Suite itself was large and decorated beautifully. Finally, the hospitality of our Innkeepers, Jan and Lorraine, was enough to make us want to return to the Belle Aire for our next stay in Galena.

I recently stayed at Belle Aire as a getaway with my girlfriend. Everything was what I wanted and I can not stress enough how hospitable Jan and Lorraine were during our stay. The best part was is I requested some things to be present in the room upon our arrival (flowers and wine) and Jan and Lorraine staged these items in the room. It really made the experience that much better knowing that these innkeepers would take time out of their day to run and grab these items for me. I would have paid for their time to grab these items but they only charged me for the price of the wine and the flowers even though I insisted on paying more. Thank You Jan and Lorraine!

This is the second B&B we've stayed in in Galena. Belle Aire Mansion is about two miles away from the downtown area, so it's not a close walk, but not inconvenient, either. The innkeepers were wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. As clean as everything is, the place needs a bit of TLC, which the innkeeper did say he takes care of during the off season. The breakfasts were delicious, and the rooms very quaint. The upper level porch was a nice place for us to gather with our friends, who stayed there as well. We would stay there again, and would recommend it to others.

I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and I can honestly say that" Aunt Lorraine" (as she fondly refers herself to) and Jan were by far the warmest, friendliest and most giving innkeepers I have ever met. That is saying a lot as I have been to quite a few over the last 15 years! By the time you leave, you really do feel like a part of the family. I was enjoying the weekend with a couple of my friends and they couldn't be more accommodating. We are talking about going back with our Bunco club for more good times! The rooms were nicely decorated and very spacious and clean. They also have a nice veranda with table and chairs which we enjoyed on the second floor. The snacks are never ending. From the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies waiting for you in your room to the candy and snacks in the dining room ,your sweet tooth will be happy happy happy! Thanks for your wonderful hospitality Lorraine and Jan! You made our stay memorable. AnnaMarie

This was our first B&B and loved every moment of our stay. Lorraine gave us a warm welcome and let us get settled before even checking in, which was great after a 3 hour drive. Lorraine and Jan are such wonderful host they kept us company during breakfast until others came down. They made us feel at home right away, the food was delicious and waking up to coffee was the best. They also gave great recommendations for dinner, which we enjoyed as well. we stayed here for the 4th of July weekend Hospitality/Food/Care and rooms was Great and very clean everything you would expect in a B&B..the only bad thing if you even want to call it that is the location it is not in DT Galena but it turned out to be a good thing because it was pritty loud and busy that weeknd so it worked out great plus their is a big diffrence in prices compared to DT Galena B&B's we deffinately look forward to coming back here.

My husband and I had never been to a B&B before. We went for our honeymoon/1st anniversary. We stayed Friday-Sunday June 21-23. We both wish we could have stayed all week. Jan and Lorraine are two extremely nice people. Both are the kind of people that you HOPE are at your family reunion!! So much fun to just sit and talk with them. They opened their home and their heart to everyone there. We asked for recommended dinner spots, and Lorraine was absolutely right! Lorraine even helped my husband plan a special surprise for me. She and her husband go out of their way to make their guests comfortable!! Our room was truly gorgeous! Her cooking was AMAZING!!!!!! We are planning 2 more trips right away. One for Oktoberfest and again for our anniversary. We may go for just the day in October, but we will still stop in and say hi to our new family. Thank you Jan and Lorraine for not only helping us in making our memories awesome, but for becoming part of our lives! Thank you, Kelsey and Dustin

Our favorite part of the stay was having breakfast in the lovely dining room and talking with Jan and Lorraine. We didn't feel rushed to hurry up and leave when we finished and talked a little bit about anything and everything. They were very hospitiable and you felt more like a friend visiting them rather than a paying guest. We enjoyed our stay at The Belle Aire Mansion and hope to go back sometime.

What can I say??? This was the first time we've stayed at A B&B. Our Hostess Lorraine met us at the front door and welcomed us. After a short tour of the Mansion, she showed us to our room the "Garden Vue Suite" Breathtaking to say the least. Staying two nights has us hooked on B&B's if all Inn Keepers treat their guest half as well as we were treated by Jan, Lorraine and Jaksun... great food and conversations each day. Jaksun is their Puppy that if you sit and talk to him he will tell you how he gets no treats and where the best treat stores are in town and to please bring him one :-) I highly recommend this place to everyone, great relaxing weekend for the wife and myself, We are already planning our next weekend getaway. We have stayed in most of the B&Bs in Galena, but this has been by far the best we have ever visited. The inn keepers Jan and Lorraine make you feel as if you are part of their family from the moment you arrive and until the momment you depart. The breakfasts they prepare are the very best and during the breakfast time the inn keepers are very engaged in the conversations at the table making the time very enjoyable for all. We will definately be back for more.

We have always learned something new about the area and local history during our relaxing breakfast and visiting with the other guests. Our rooms have always been spotless and we welcomed the air conditioning this past weekend when it was so hot and humid. My husband always enjoys his special cookie jar on the night stand.

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the Martin Luther King Day holiday to ski on Chestnut Mountain. Jan and Lorraine made us feel like we were staying with family! The food was great, the house clean and super cute, they were flexible with our accommadations and gave us great reccomendations! We will definitely stay here again!

This stay was a surprise for my wife, celebrating a belated 20th anniversary. I set up the reservation in March for stay in October. Lorraine and I shared emails to finalize all the details; conformation and information letter sent to a friend's house, scheduling an hour-long in-room massage with Jerry, and a setting up a dinner reservation at The Log Cabin Greek Steakhouse. She even readjusted all of this after I had to change the from the original reservation because my wife couldn't get it off from work. The stay was wonderful! Jan and Lorraine made us feel at HOME. Breakfasts were delecious and the surroundings so quiet and relaxing. This was our first B&B stay and we're not sure if we would have ever found a more reasonably priced and satisfying place to be. Hats off to the Svecs.

Very enjoyable stay. Accommodations were quite good, breakfast was good, and our hosts were most pleasant and very helpful.

The inn is set back from the highway, and is very quiet and peaceful. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Galena. The only drawback (a minor one) is that it is located a short distance from town and as a consequence you have to drive (and find a parking place) when you want visit the shops or go out to eat.

You could have not asked for a better host. The couple took us to the downtown area so we wouldn't have to be in traffic. The breakfast was outstanding. I wish we could have stayed a few more days.

The innkeepers were friendly and the room itself was as described. However, the inn was billed as "eleven secluded acres," which couldn't be further from the truth. It's on the main drag surrounded by fast food and other businesses. It was a fine place, but not what we expected.

Lorraine and Jan were fabulous hosts. They made us feel at home immediately. They even emptied their garage so that we could park our motorcycles inside. In addition, they shared their knowledge of the area attractions and even took care of making reservations for us. We stayed for three nights and had wonderful breakfasts each morning. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay, this is it! We would definitely recommend the Belle Aire Mansion to our friends.

Jan & Loraine were great hosts. Good conversation at breakfast. Cooking was excellent. The blue room was spacious and clean and the chocolate chip cookies everyday was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend the Belle Aire Mansion to anyone who is looking for a nice getaway weekend.

For all this place is, the greating was the most memorable. Before we were out of the car, they were coing out the door to greet us. Over the past 11 years we have stayed almost exclusively in BnBs. Maybe this has happened to you, but not to us. Whenever we needed something, it was provided with a smile. At no time did my wife and I feel like we were intruding into someone's life or we were asking them to help us with somethine "after hours." Conceirge services were complete. When we asked questions about resturants, etc, we got "the local" version and not the tourist bureau version. Without question when we return we will use this facility.

The innkeepers, Lorraine and Jan are the best! They made us feel welcomed, the rooms are amazing, and the breakfasts were outstanding. This has been our second year going to Belle Aire Mansion and we have not been disappointed. If going to Galena you have to stay at the mansion with Lorraine and Jan. Michelle Barth Minonk, IL

The breakfast was delicious and breakfast time with all the guests and the innkeepers was a lot of fun! We will definitely stay at Bell Aire Mansion again

Lorraine and Jan are awesome hosts!!! They made our stay at their B & B a most memorable one. We enjoyed talking with them at breakfast. They made us feel like part of their family. We'll definitely stay with them next time we visit Galena!!! Again, AWESOME place!!!!

We stayed at the Belle Aire for two nights while we visited the historic town of Galena, IL. The owners, Jan and Lorraine are wonderful folks that seemed like old friends. The room we stayed in, the Canopy Suite, was quiet, spacious, and restful. The drive into town was only about 10 minutes, and Lorraine and Jan always had great suggestions about where to eat, what to see, and do. We would describe the Belle Aire as a "home away from home".

My husband and I stayed at The Belle Aire Mansion Guest House for a long weekend. This was our first time at a B & B and our first time to Galena. Jan & Lorraine are the best. They made us feel like family. The breakfasts were amazing, and they will keep you laughing. Their adorable little dog Jordie was so friendly. We will be back.

The innkeepers Lorraine and Jan were awesome! They went above and beyond our expectations! It's such a beautiful setting, very quiet and away from downtown. We're planning to come back next year!

My boyfriend and I just returned from a wonderful 4-day weekend stay at Belle Aire Mansion Guest House. The Innkeepers were very attentive and kind, and they were understanding of our food allergies and went out of their way to accommodate us. We had booked a suite, and the room really did live up to the high price tag. The hot tub was wonderful, relaxing, and easy to use. And, it was lovely to have enough space to comfortably eat breakfast in the room each morning. The view wasn't spectacular, but we were more concerned with relaxing indoors than looking outdoors. Belle Aire Mansion is a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to "get away from it all."

It was the first time we stayed at a B&B and were not sure what to expect. Lorraine and Jan were the nicest people ever and made us feel so welcome. I would recommend them and the B&B experience to all our friends and family. It is way better than a cold and impersonal hotel! Cathy Gischlar & Karen Shallow

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted like family. When we would return at night, we were greeted with "Welcome home!" The rooms were great, the beds comfortable, and the whole place was very clean. I needed reservations for a couple of places, and Lorraine made them for me. I would recommend this B&B to everyone staying in the Galena area.

Just stayed a weekend in Galena and it was worth every minute, mainly because of Belle Aire Mansion and Jan and Lorraine. This B&B was wonderful and we could not ask for anything more. The room was great, the breakfast was outstanding, and the hosts were what really made the weekend. They are willing to help in anyway and made us feel very comfortable, but more importantly, at home.

Lorraine & Jan were very hospitable innkeepers. We enjoyed our stay at the Belle Aire very much--the area is beautiful with lovely vistas from the bedrooms. The food was absolutely delicious-the homemade chocolate chip cookies [a jar in every room] were too hard to ignore even if you are on a diet!

I've been to a lot of bed & breakfasts and this stay was like staying at Grandma's or Auntie's house. The hosts could not be any nicer, very sweet couple and very chatty. The food was great. No complaints about this property but the rooms were very out dated and the only way I could describe it was that it was like you were staying at someone's house, not the way all B&Bs run. I felt as though I was intruding upon someone's living space.

I arrived in galena for the weekend from chicago and i stumbled along this wonderful bed and breakfast near the galena golf course. This was exciting for me because i love to golf and the location was wonderful. I was welcomed with arms wide open from the wonderful owners jan and laurane svec, they were the most nice and sincere people i've ever met in my life. The feeling of comfort and relaxation is key in every getaway, and this bed and breakfast has it all. These wonderful people also have an amazing spa room with an excellent on-call massage therapist after a long day. So if your looking for something with great food, wonderful people, and an excellent vacation atmosphere this is a must visit.

Just stayed at the Belle Aire Mansion and found it to be a very pleasant experience. Great breakfasts and an early coffee buffet for those up early. Yummy chocolate chip cookies and other snacks. Friendly innkeepers who welcome you home when you return for the day. Nice.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of spending the night at this wonderful B&B. What an outstanding night. The rooms were extremely romantic. A fireplace and also a jacuzzi were included in two of the rooms. Fortunate for us, we had one of them. Quite a luxurious stay if I might add. If you are looking for a romantic getaway in beautiful town, this is the place to stay. The owners/operaters were extremely down to earth, and made us feel right at home. What a night!

Belle Aire Mansion and their hosts, surprised us. This was our first B&B experience. Belle Aire is a handsome estate, Victorian/Country decor was lovely. My wife and I had a hard time leaving the dinner table and go play because the food, ambiance and fellowship was so engaging. Our hosts were engaging, friendly and went beyond call of duty in serving us.

Our stay at the Belle Aire Mansion was wonderful. My husband and I brought our daughters to Galena for the first time. What a great experience. The Innkeepers, Lorraine & Jan, made us all feel at home. They were very helpful with recommendations of places to go and giving directions. The Blue room was very comfortable and cozy. The breakfast was delicious and they were very accomodating towards the children's appetites. We look forward to going back again soon!

My husband and I took a five day four night stay in Galena and chose to stay at the Belle Aire Mansion just a few minutes outside of historic Galena. From the moment we walked into Jan and Lorraine's beautiful B&B we felt like we were at home. Both Jan and Lorraine were very friendly and outgoing; and we felt like we were part of the family. We stayed in the Canopy Suite which had a beautiful seating area, private bathroom, whirlpool tub and fireplace - we were shocked at how much space we had to move around. Every day our room was tidied up, our bed remade and a jar of fresh cookies was waiting for us on the dresser. Breakfast each morning was beyond phenomenal - Jan and Lorraine went out of their way to ask us if we wanted anything in particular and even cooked us custom omelets on our last day there. We were the only guests during our stay and every morning Jan and Lorraine kept us company during breakfast. Not only did they give us tips on places to eat and visit, but we also learned a great deal about their family and their time in Galena. My husband and I like to stay at different B&B's for the different experiences - but as long as Jan and Lorraine are the innkeepers the Belle Aire is the B&B we will continue to call home when we travel to Galena. Thanks Jan and Lorraine for everything!!

On previous visits to Galena, we've stayed in town, but this time, we found that the acreage surrounding the Belle Aire provides a very pleasant and peaceful change. Our early morning walk around the property took around fifteen minutes, and was a great way to start the day. We came in from our walk, and Lorraine served our breakfast which provided the quality and quantity that we had hoped for. It was a highlight of our visit. The Inn Keepers are fabulous. Friendly and able to give advice on local attractions, and will let you know what you might expect at the local restaurants. We visited during October and were pleasantly surprised to find numerous hot air balloons being launched as part of a local festival, and we had front row seats, viewing the action from the front porch of the Belle Aire! All in all, a great weekend. We'll be back!
