Beth & Russell are wonderful, inviting, generous people and their inn is beautiful, comfortable and a relaxing spot to set down all your worries for a bit. We first came here for our honeymoon in September 2011. We found this B&B on this website by searching for B&B's in this area. A lot were rather expensive, and most were already booked as we were a little late deciding we were going to get away to. Then we saw this quaint little cottage, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Libertyville and we both thought it was darling and perfect for us! We had personal issues that prevented us from staying the second night. So the Smith's were very accommodating and told us we were welcome to come another day if we wanted. So we stayed there last weekend. The food is so delicious. The grounds are beautiful. The hospitality is like no other place I've stayed at. Although we live just a few miles away, any time we get away from our kids we will probably try to stay here. I think just about everyone would love this place.

Perfect accommodation for a near by family wedding

We stayed at The Lark Inn recently as my sister in law was getting married close by and we had a fantastic stay. Russell and Beth were so accommodating - nothing was too much trouble and they even kindly drove us to the wedding venue and back. Beth's delicious breakfasts were incredible including homemade sour cherry muffins and pecan loaf. It felt like a real 'home from home' and we would encourage anyone looking for a good B&B in this area to book.

An exceptional experience! The best B and B I have stayed at

I travel regularly with my elderly mother. We have stayed in B and B's throughout the US. The Lark Inn served as our "base" (3 sisters and our mother) for a recent family reunion. Beth was wonderful. She acomodated the limitations of my mother and the allergies of my sister. The house was comfortable with a wonderful backyard with pool and spa. I spent long hours at night watching the stars near the pool. Beth made a full breakfast the first day, wonderful fresh fruit, hot blueberry muffins and a light but filling hot egg cassarole. Delicious OJ and fresh coffee. Because we do not eat a large breakfast, she scaled the meal down to a large bowl of ripe fruits (no melon, just the "good stuff") and warm bread/muffins with juice the remaining two mornings. She has coffee available 24/7 with a Keurig which was wonderful. For our day trip to Indianapolis, she offered the use of a cooler and was going to pack us a lunch, which we declined. Because we had to leave at 5 am our last morning, Beth packed us fresh muffins, pastries, and fruit to take along. The property is beautiful and the interaction with Beth and Russell was terrific (Russell DOES make a great pot of coffee). Beth map-quested directions for us so that we didn't have to get into Chicago traffic as the GPS would have sent us. She even down-loaded our boarding passes when we were not home at the right time. Of the dozen or so B and B's I've stayed at, this one is head and shoulders above the rest. I HIGHLY recommend it.

My husband and I frequently visit the northern Illinois area and have stayed here several times. The Lark Inn is located on a quiet street with no through traffic in an upscale area of charming homes on acre plus lots. The back yard is large, secluded, and beautifully landscaped. A glassed or screened porch overlooks the pool, spa and lovely gardens. The interior of this home is immaculate and comfortable, with a fireplace and piano in the living room. It also has a separate library and wifi. Beth is a fabulous cook and very welcoming. She and Russell are also very knowledgeable about the area. The beds are comfortable and there are many extra little touches in the rooms as well as a TV. The baths are updated and the bath products are lovely, especially the shampoo. We like staying here because it is comfortable, beautiful, peaceful and welcoming.

The Lark Inn had a great back yard and pool. There were lots of thoughtful "plusses" that made my stay enjoyable (Thanks Beth and Russell!). Bathroom is modern, roomy and nice. I had a great stay and appreciated the hospitality. I hope to stay there again and hopefully get nicer weather so I can more enjoy the grounds, pool and hot tub!
