My family came to stay at the Lark Inn this summer. Beth was very quick to respond via email to help us organize our stay and was flexible and accommodating for our needs. During our visit she and Russell were sweet and helpful and fun to talk with. Breakfast was incredible, tasty and diverse, every morning. The beds were comfortable. We felt at home and happy for the several nights we remained here. We certainly plan to stay here again when we come into town.

We spent a lovely 2 nights at The Lark Inn while visiting friends nearby. Beth and Russell were wonderful hosts, very accommodating of us and our baby, and attentive to detail. Breakfast was freshly-cooked and delicious. The grounds, pool and sunroom looked nice, though we stayed inside during our December visit. We look forward to staying here again and would gladly recommend the Lark to friends.

This was our second stay, 3 nights, visiting relatives in Libertyville. We got to The Lark ~ 3 pm after a very early east coast start. Beth offered us wine and cheese to relax a bit. Next morning we awoke to find we had a flat tire on our rental car. Bummer! Beth kindly offered to drive my 82 yr old mother over to her brother's house so she could visit while daughter waited for AAA. This was above and beyond on Beth's part and most appreciated by us. Next night coming back after a day of visiting she provided tea (delicious!) and cookies as we sat and "debriefed" from the days' activities. She will see us again every time we are in the area. VERY HIGHLY recommended. Rooms are very clean and beautifully comfortable, 1st floor being ideal for Mom who can't do stairs. Thank you Beth and Russell. You are terrific.

Beth & Russell are wonderful, inviting, generous people and their inn is beautiful, comfortable and a relaxing spot to set down all your worries for a bit. We first came here for our honeymoon in September 2011. We found this B&B on this website by searching for B&B's in this area. A lot were rather expensive, and most were already booked as we were a little late deciding we were going to get away to. Then we saw this quaint little cottage, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Libertyville and we both thought it was darling and perfect for us! We had personal issues that prevented us from staying the second night. So the Smith's were very accommodating and told us we were welcome to come another day if we wanted. So we stayed there last weekend. The food is so delicious. The grounds are beautiful. The hospitality is like no other place I've stayed at. Although we live just a few miles away, any time we get away from our kids we will probably try to stay here. I think just about everyone would love this place.

We stayed at The Lark Inn during July, 2011, to attend a family reunion-- with planned activities in the surrounding areas. It was coming "home" for us and that is exactly how it felt to stay in this Inn-- except more luxurious and pampering! First, the rooms and bedding was oh so comfortable. Next, the meals were beyond delicious-- from the special coffees, baked goods and made to order breakfasts, to the wine and cheese at "happy hour"-- no detail was missing. The Owners are friendly & helpful but not intrusive in the least bit. We were given their GPS to use for our weekend. They arranged for bicycles for us to ride (my special request) and even assisted us in getting in to a nearby swim beach (another special request). I never dreamed we could do it all-- and we did! Even with the complications of having to be absent on our arrival due to a family emergency, the pinch hitting couple was equally lovely. Even when the air conditioning was inconsistent during a hot July, they knew just how to remedy the situation for us. Let's face it, situations always come up when you travel-- it is how they are handled that makes the difference. They exceeded our expectations in every good way! Finally, having an opportunity to spend an afternoon by the pool and backyard, was extra lovely and relaxing. I will not consider staying anywhere else whenever I return to the area!

We stayed at The Lark Inn recently as my sister in law was getting married close by and we had a fantastic stay. Russell and Beth were so accommodating - nothing was too much trouble and they even kindly drove us to the wedding venue and back. Beth's delicious breakfasts were incredible including homemade sour cherry muffins and pecan loaf. It felt like a real 'home from home' and we would encourage anyone looking for a good B&B in this area to book.

I travel regularly with my elderly mother. We have stayed in B and B's throughout the US. The Lark Inn served as our "base" (3 sisters and our mother) for a recent family reunion. Beth was wonderful. She acomodated the limitations of my mother and the allergies of my sister. The house was comfortable with a wonderful backyard with pool and spa. I spent long hours at night watching the stars near the pool. Beth made a full breakfast the first day, wonderful fresh fruit, hot blueberry muffins and a light but filling hot egg cassarole. Delicious OJ and fresh coffee. Because we do not eat a large breakfast, she scaled the meal down to a large bowl of ripe fruits (no melon, just the "good stuff") and warm bread/muffins with juice the remaining two mornings. She has coffee available 24/7 with a Keurig which was wonderful. For our day trip to Indianapolis, she offered the use of a cooler and was going to pack us a lunch, which we declined. Because we had to leave at 5 am our last morning, Beth packed us fresh muffins, pastries, and fruit to take along. The property is beautiful and the interaction with Beth and Russell was terrific (Russell DOES make a great pot of coffee). Beth map-quested directions for us so that we didn't have to get into Chicago traffic as the GPS would have sent us. She even down-loaded our boarding passes when we were not home at the right time. Of the dozen or so B and B's I've stayed at, this one is head and shoulders above the rest. I HIGHLY recommend it.

My husband and I frequently visit the northern Illinois area and have stayed here several times. The Lark Inn is located on a quiet street with no through traffic in an upscale area of charming homes on acre plus lots. The back yard is large, secluded, and beautifully landscaped. A glassed or screened porch overlooks the pool, spa and lovely gardens. The interior of this home is immaculate and comfortable, with a fireplace and piano in the living room. It also has a separate library and wifi. Beth is a fabulous cook and very welcoming. She and Russell are also very knowledgeable about the area. The beds are comfortable and there are many extra little touches in the rooms as well as a TV. The baths are updated and the bath products are lovely, especially the shampoo. We like staying here because it is comfortable, beautiful, peaceful and welcoming.

The Lark Inn had a great back yard and pool. There were lots of thoughtful "plusses" that made my stay enjoyable (Thanks Beth and Russell!). Bathroom is modern, roomy and nice. I had a great stay and appreciated the hospitality. I hope to stay there again and hopefully get nicer weather so I can more enjoy the grounds, pool and hot tub!
