We highly recommend this historic 1886 mansion for your visit to Chicago! Our extended family of 10 rented the entire mansion for the weekend of our daughter's college graduation, and it was a perfect location within walking distance to Lincoln Park, Moody Church, train and bus stops. The neighborhood shops and cafe's were pleasing and diverse. The home was furnished with antiques and period pieces so that you felt as if you were stepping back in time, yet every modern appliance and the convenience of 3.5 baths made our stay relaxing and quite comfortable. The spacious kitchen and dining room enabled us to prepare meals and dine together in lieu of expensive restaurant dining . Fran assisted us with parking permits for parking in front of the mansion, and additional free street parking locations as close as a block or two away. We all wished for more time to explore the city. Thank you, Fran, for helping us enjoy and create treasured memories in your lovely mansion!

Thank you for making my stay in Chicago a wonderful experience. The whole trip was great, I enjoyed my conference, the train trip and everything else. I was a little tired when I came back, though, and have been busy since, so that is why my answer is delayed. I really enjoyed staying in your beautiful house, and you have been extraordinarily helpful and nice. I loved the guided tour with Ms. Gonzalez, she was so nice and informative. I will gladly recommend Hansen Mansion to anyone who travels to Chicago, and I hope I will be able to come back soon. Thank you also for your gift, I listened to the CD and it made me miss Chicago and made my kids want to go there too.

I had the extreme pleasure of staying two evenings at the Hansen mansion, a home designed and built by my architect Great-Grandfather, Harold Hansen.

We were welcomed warmly by Fran and Quincy. They provided us with a free nearby parking spot as promised, and were very helpful in finding nearby locations and attraction. The Hansen House Mansion was beautiful and carefully decorated to match the age and architecture. The history in the house itself was amazing. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

We stayed at Elizabeth's Place (one of the apts at Centennial House). It was very nice -- large living room, dining room, and kitchen with all of the modern amenities. It had three bedrooms and one bathroom. A friend and I met in Chicago for a long weekend. Two other girlfriends were suppose to meet us, but ended up cancelling at the last minute. Fran was most helpful and accommodating. I emailed her frequently before the stay as I had not stayed at an apt before. She was most responsive. Her emails were very detailed regarding which trains each of us needed to be on and where to transfer to get to Lincoln Park. Fran asked us what we were planning on doing. She had several suggestions and explained the train system well. One of her recommendations was a play at the Apollo Theatre (about two blocks away). The Million Dollar Quartet was being shown. Fran told us how to get tickets at half price...THANKS BTW. It was an excellent performance. She told us that she was available should we have any questions during our stay -- whether we were at the apt or out and about the City. She even loaned us a map and showed us how to get to certain destinations. The apt was clean and neat. It's a Victorian theme with antiques and period pieces. The bedrooms were comfortable. It is two blocks from the train and grocery store. Only a 10-minute ride to The Loop (less if going to Magnificent Mile shops). So much to see and do. We definitely are coming back and staying here.

A group of ladies recently stayed at the Aster House of the Centennial Houses of Lincoln Park for a birthday celebration. We enjoyed our stay as the location was excellent, close to Apollo Theater and many restaurants. Fran and Quincy were both very nice and hospitable. Our accomadations were quaint, lovely as you would expect in a bed and breakfast. We didn't experience any dining at the house, so I can't rate that, but the overall value was very great.

I can't say enough good things about this B&B (The Hansen Mansion - one of the Centennial Houses). Fran and Quincy (owners) were wonderful , once again! We stayed here 2 years ago and enjoyed it just as much. This was our 2nd trip to Chicago and we (a group of 6 women) loved staying here and had the whole house to enjoy for the weekend! The decor is beautiful decorated with antique furniture and many pieces of history relating to the house. There is a nice kitchen where all 6 of us were able to either cook or eat. Plenty of info provided on the kitchen wall of what to do's, where to eat, entertainment, maps, etc. There is also a beautiful dining room that seats 10+ people. The 2nd story has two bedrooms, and two bathrooms - one of them being in the larger of the two bedrooms. Both decorate with antiques - beds very comfortable too! The third story provides two additional bedrooms and bathroom. There is also a sitting area on the third story, with tv, coffee maker, microwave and additional sink. There is a balcony with two tables and plenty of chairs to have 6-8 people sit outside. The home is wonderfully located near Lincoln Park Zoo and North Ave. Beach (walk there in 10 min.). Grocery store across the street. Plenty of wonderful restaurants - one recommended to us by Fran that was great! I highly recommend staying here!

It was be mere chance that I ended up at the Hansen House during holidays in Chicago. But I enjoyed every minute of my stay and certainly the place and its owners are responsible for it. Large and nice bedroom, a spacious bathroom (outside of the bedroom), a wonderful kitchen where one can have breakfast and meals - all this made me feel very much welcome to a equally fantastic city. The place stands in a wonderful neighbourhood, close to the beach, to parks, restaurants, buses and trains - and also a special organic market twice a week. The owners are outstandingly pleasant, did everything to make my stay the best possible. No way I'm going to stay in any other place when going back to Chicago.

I am a very modern girl and I usually stay in new hotels. I was braced to hate the house. After staying at this house, I have been forever changed. I loved the antique feel and the old school charm. Very nice!

My collegues and I stayed here for a recent convention -- normally a drudgery trip. It was such a pleasure to leave the craziness of McCormick Place and come 'home' to review our day at the dining table, rock on the porch, barbeque on the huge deck and just hang out with my co-workers. I really felt like I was coming home every night. And I don't believe our meeting would have gone as smoothly without all that our hosts did for us. This worked out perfectly -- what a difference from past rat-race conventions!

I stayed four nights at Hansen House mansion on a recent trip to Chicago, my hometown, to visit family and friends. It's a wonderful old house in one of the great Chicago neighborhoods, with warm and helpful hosts. I was walking distance from everything -- buses, Lincoln Park, the El, restaurants, Second City. I even walked the 2 miles downtown. Comfortable, safe, very manageable -- I'll definitely return.

We stayed at Hansen House for the marathon. Perfect location. Two of the places runners came by were a block from our B&B. We had a fabulous time.

Our stay at Elizabeth's Place was outstanding. My husband, 9-year old son & I stayed for the weekend and we were extremely pleased with our accomodations. Fran went above and beyond to help me surprise my husband for a birthday get away! She spent countless house recommending dining, activities and such to make our stay outstanding. My son hadn't been sleeping well before our trip and said that his room at Elizabeth's Place must have been magical because he slept so well both nights of our stay. We felt very welcomed and comfortable during our weekend. We would come back again, the location is perfect for Lincoln Park and all of Chicago. We loved it!!

Hanson House is a lovely mansion built in the 1899's with outstanding hospitality and service by the owner and beautiful antiques. Located a block from Lincoln Park in Old Town. Just wished there would have been something for breakfast.

We had the opportunity to spend a weekend in the Hansen House Mansion in Chicago. Wow, what a beautiful house! The time and effort that Fran and Quincy have put into the decoration and furnishings really is incredible in such a short time. It's like stepping back a century in a very busy city.

I could not have asked for a better experience. This home was well-maintained and made me feel like I was in another century... I couldn't help imagining all that has happened in this historical mansion.

A delightful, private and convenient place to stay in a residential Chicago neighborhood. A big plus is the free parking. Fran and Quincy were so friendly and absolutely helpful to us in finding our way around the area.

Beautiful renovated Victorian with plenty of room and topnotch appliances (e.g., Subzero fridge and freezer). Very nice neighborhood, walking distance to Lincoln Park and several good restaurants. We left a hat in the house, and the innkeepers emailed us and offered to mail it to our home! I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful they are.

Location is one of the key reasons we stay with Fran in the Aster/Centennial House. It is an easy walk from the EL, and an easy walk to Lincoln Avenue and the shops, eateries, and other sights. Fran and her new husband, Quincy, were most accommadating to our family...Christmas tree and a most wonderful gift of the apartment, Elizabeth! We were booked for Alice's Annex, so with Elizabeth as well, there was ample room for all. She was most helpful as to where to go on Christmas Day (Chinatown) and telling us other places we might want to visit. The rooms/beds/kitchen/bathrooms were just what we needed. The sidewalks and steps were kept clear of the ice and snow which welcomed us Tuesday night. The heat was comfortable and we just felt at home. Of course I will go there again and recommend her B & B whenever there is opportunity!

The Centennial House has a great location but the accommodations and the Innkeeper are not so great. Ms. Ramer is rude and very condescending to her guests. The only breakfast available is prepackaged biscotti’s, hardly what I would consider a gourmet breakfast or even a continental breakfast. Our room was supposed to have a private bath, but Fran neglected to say it was down the hall and not in the room. This was the only time I have ever stayed at a B&B and couldn't wait to go home.
